I love this channel I feel like I’m in a college course for omega watches. Very informative and great work I plan on buying some watches from you guys in the future.
I couldn’t agree more. And as you said, the core design of Genta basically stays the same, but changes from year to year. That's very exciting to watch!
What was the word you used for describing the bezel? You said a word which is “in between flat and fluted bezels”. Is that another style? Like guilloche?
I had a question, how suited are vintage watches for everyday wear? I've heard that they are fragile, is that true? How does the durability vary from the types of watches (chronograph, manual wind, automatic etc)? Thank you ! 🙂
Vintage watches are just as wearable on a daily basis as modern ones. The only thing to watch out for, of course, is not to expose them to moisture or water in general. We have also made a full video on this ;) the durability of a watch has nothing to do with the type of complications or the type of movement. If a watch is well pleaded and brought every few years for inspection there are no differences there. Also for this we have uploaded a complete guide :D
Isn't 35mm a bit too small for a man's wrist. I'm looking to buy one myself but I'm still a bit skeptical about the 35mm case. Can anyone enlighten me about sizing ?
It depends on your wrist size and if you’re used to wear bigger watches in general. If you have worn large watches over 38mm all your life and then suddenly have a 35mm watch on your wrist, it is very unusual for the eye at first. But when you wear the watch for a few days and then put on another large one, you think: what the hell, it's much too big! My wrist is 18/18.5cm and my comfort zone for round watches is 32-38mm, and of course much smaller for rectangular watches. There are a few ways to find out if you are happy with the size before you buy a more expensive watch. You can order a cheap watch for €20 in 35mm and simply put it on and wear it for a few days. You can also simply cut a watch out of paper and stick it to your wrist. I hope I was able to help you a little :-)

Hi There great video. Looking at minute 4.10 i noticed that I have the left one, a 168.009/168.017 gold but the crown seems not to be the correct one as it looks like the one of the .017 era, this is with more protusions and thicket. Do you think the original (slimmer with less protrusions) was replaced? or where there some of them with different crown?
You clearly have a good eye when it comes to strap selection. Something that could really make or break the appearance of any watch. Perhaps you could share some of the criteria you use in your selection process. Is it strictly an aesthetic exercise or does comfort, breathability etc play a role? Does texture play a role? What are the rules, if there are any? … Anyway, this is maybe too boring for an episode suggestion…
Thanks a bunch mate! Interesting question here… In 99% it is an aesthetic decision, there are no rules or something else. We mainly pay attention to the material of the case and the color of the dial, then we have different straps with different colors and textures and just see what fits the best. No rocket science at all- just an aesthetic point of view :D
@@GoldammerVintageWatches Some of those Lizard textured leather straps really takes the whole watch to the next level. Waiting for my order to come. You making me rethink my strap game here. Well done, you have it dialed in nicely. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks for the good content.
Hey I enjoy your videos, you are right, vintage rocks. A couple of mispronounced words: guilloché is pronounced geeyoshé, and elegant is pronounced elegant with a hard g and not elejant.
Thanks!! Omega was the copy cat in this case. To ensure better water resistance, Rolex developed a new technique: instead of pressing the Plexiglas in with great force, they wanted to screw it onto the case like the caseback. To do this, they first had to find a hold. This is where the fluted bezel comes into the game :D
@@GoldammerVintageWatches the new Globemaster would be amazing if they got rid of the fluted bezel and tried something a little different. Still the C shape Constellations are stunning!!
Really?! So I've never had problems with the knuckles on the wrist, no matter what shape a case design has. Either my knuckles are excessively small or yours are too big? Haha :D
I almost bought an Omega Constellation , but the asking price was to much , 200-300 euros more than usual , it was all original including the golden steel bracelet which was in bad condition , i am not worried there are more than enough Vintage Omega watches , so i am not in hurry .
I think im hooked on the pie pan design.
Cheers for another great vid.
Never gets dull, with these old gems.
Me too! The pie pan is definitely the most beautiful constellation 💪
Another great video Felix! Thanks! Looking forward to the next one too!
Much thanks my friend! We’re glad you enjoyed this one ☝️🙌
Awesome knowledge and production, just what I have been looking for!
Much thanks !!

One of the lesser known Genta’s designs. It’s interesting to see how the same core idea is reinterpreted over time.

I own two constellations from the 60s and they are quite robust. I wear them on a daily basis and they have more character.

Forgive me Can you tell me how much gold is in this watch Without a gold bracelet. Only gold from the watch itself
Hey there, unfortunately not. That piece was sold last year.
Thanks a lot. I inheritated one from my father who loved it and I didn t know anything about models and references.

I don’t know an e shape era
C shaped sits awkwardly against the knuckle on the wrist. Looks great, feels awkward.
