    The Constellation is underappreciated. Few watch videos are genuinely educational. You have given people like me who are vintage Constellation newcomers a beginning frame of reference for understanding variations in the particular references during different periods and also how Constellations evolved over the course of time. Thank you.

      We are pleased to be able to provide you with a common thread. And especially as a newcomer, knowledge is "power". Thanks for your great feedback, have a nice start into the week!

      Not by me. They are utterly stunning and gorgeous if you ask me. Few watches today come close to being a rival in beautiful design.

    Great watches both esthetically and mechanically. A pinnacle of Omega’s midcentury watchmaking.

    Really enjoyed this! They're beautiful watches.
    Would love to see reference guide on the Longines Flagship heritage or Conquest heritage, as a massive fanboy of those two lines!

    What a great video! Just got into vintage watches this past weekend and this video helped so much to figure out the variants for the pie pan Constellations

    I still have my dad's (purchased new in 1956) Cal. 501, Case 2852 black dial, gold cap Constellation, though not a pie-pan. It languished in a drawer for years. I finally had it serviced by a qualified watch maker and it remains largely original except for the crystal, crown, and mainspring. It was worth every cent. I love the watch and with my small wrists it wears very well opposed to the large watches in fashion today. The charts were helpful. It seems mine falls into the bicolor case, black dial, arrowhead quarter hour markers with dagger arrows for the other indices. All seemingly less purchased appointments that may account for its relatively high appraisal value compared to others of its vintage. Great information. Thanks.

      We are glad to hear that the table could help you in your research! It's a great piece you got from your father! In my opinion, an inherited watch has the most emotional value it can have. Too bad my father or grandparents were not fans of high end watches 😅.

    It's astonishing the Constellation isn't as popular and seeked-after as its rivals. I'm sure prices will explode soon enough once people get savvy. In the meantime, I'll keep collecting them.
    A wonderful video and very useful reference documents for collectors (and sellers) like me! Thank you!

      First of all, thank you so much for your great words! This is exactly why we started with TH-cam. To share knowledge and also gather it ourselves through the community! Regarding the demand for connies: Do you think so? I personally have the feeling that vintage constellations have quite a high demand and do not have to let other manufacturers and product lines take the butter off their bread. Or are you referring to more modern versions with that statement?

      @@GoldammerVintageWatches I mean vis-a-vis Rolex models, specifically. They're not cheap! Absolutely not. But compared to the competition, they are well priced!

      @@GoldammerVintageWatches Also, I would love to see a Constellation guide that further expands from the Pie Pan! Keep up the great work!

      @GoldammerVintageWatches  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, I absolutely agree with you on that point. Rolex is a company that everyone knows and for many is a status symbol. Especially people who buy their first watch tend to focus on the external effect (which is not wrong). Constellations are more popular with people who have been dealing with vintage watches for a long time and appreciate the special design.

    Just bought a Pie pan from 1966, just awaiting for it to be delivered. It’s a dial I’ve coveted since getting into watches.

    My PiePan dial has some tiny bubbles that formed (I presume) over time. Do you know if this is common on these constellations and also if this would be considered good or bad aging. My dial's condition is similar to the pie pan you have on your website. With similar bubbling.

    • @GoldammerVintageWatches
      @GoldammerVintageWatches  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s considered „good or bad“ aging lies in the eye of the beholder. There is no good or bad. Personally, if the bubbles are the same size and evenly distributed on the dial, we find it very appealing. How exactly and why these bubbles form, I can not say, but I can imagine that, as with all aging processes, it is related to sunlight and UV radiation. :)
