It’s extremely funny and clever without hurting or offending anyone. No one group is ever the butt of its jokes, the personality of the character always is. And, the characters actually slowly change and develop over the series despite it not being plot centered. They all love each other in a natural way that’s the wholesome appeal of Bob’s Burgers
@@elijahlivingston9477 nor do health inspectors, but I think that’s it. In some fairness for the councilor his desperation to be relevant could be seen as a degree of commentary on the fact that kids don’t use these resources to help them through their struggles, but maybe I’m giving them too much credit and they were just going for easy “guy trying to justify his job” humor like that inspector in Star Trek Lower Decks, another adult comedy
@@Cdr2002 Hugo was introduced as the antagonist to Bob’s Burgers success, but as the show progressed he was showed to have an passionate understanding of importance for his professional alongside his sense of right and wrong. Not to mention, Hugo actually does his job competency unlike Mr Frond. Edit - Which are presented in a way that doesn’t make the audience hate him. Another achievement from the writers
The only thing I miss about the old bobs burgers is when something shocking would happen and they would quickly zoom on their faces with dramatic music
The family’s financial status definitely helps the storylines because they need to be grounded. Episodes are almost entirely set in the local community, the holiday episodes not being Simpsons style international trips but something as simple as a holiday house down the coast because that’s all the family can afford. The kids don’t have the latest technology, and find joy in each other for it. Bob uses a flip phone long after they’re out of fashion because it’s cheaper.
I like that currently, the show has stayed in the local surrounding area besides one episode where they visit Linda's parents in Florida. It makes it feel a lot more grounded since it's not like they go to places all over the world while also struggling with money
It's crazy that in the eighties and early nineties it was subversive to portray the Simpsons as dysfunctional and now showing the Belchers as chaotic but ultimately loving and meshing well is radical.
One reason Bob and Linda are unique, aside from not being disfunctional like most sitcom-couples, is that Bob is usually the reasonable of the two. Linda is the chaotic one who‘s impulsiveness is often driving the plot. This is a reversal from the usual dynamic, but at the same time the two aren‘t mismatched at all. Bob isn‘t super-smart, he‘s just usually the one with better judgement. But he‘s also emotionally unaware, and occasionally tries too hard to get his way. What really puts the Belchers above other sitcom families are the kids though.
I recently became a believer. My girlfriend introduced me to Bob’s Burgers and this video pretty much sums up how I felt about the show and why I love it. Futurama and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are my favorite adult cartoons, so this was a huge departure from what I was use to, but it’s literally the stuff like: Bob: “Regular Sized Rudy? Why do they call you that?” Regular-Sized Rudy: “Look at me, I’m regular.” That has me falling out of my bed onto the wooden floor, rolling in pain. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama and Bob’s Burgers are my holy trinity of adult cartoons
Tbf, Futurama is also a pretty dysfunctional but ultimately loving found family. They don't mean to be the worst, the world they live in is just the worst lol. I mean, Bender is...Bender. But Fry tries his best, he's just not smart enough to keep up a lot of times and Leela sees that. But Bob's Burgers is definitely more about finding humor in the small parts of life, rather than wild settings and situations like most others, including Futurama.
I like that Bob’s Burgers is more akin to something like King of the Hill though where it focuses on somewhat realistic stuff and real world struggles involving family and what not. Even though it can be crazy too at times just like Futurama, ATHF, Family Guy, simpsons etc. it doesn’t need over the top stuff like Sci Fi, time travel or some supernatural element to pull it off and does so in a grounded way like KOTH. Even though i still love all the other shows I mentioned for those reasons.
One thing I like is there’s no dump-on character, and especially not because she’s a girl. Even Gayle for all her neurosis is a full character that’s treated like a human.
I think one of the main reasons Bob’s Burgers is so endearing is because the audience can relate to the characters and the situations. Unlike the simpsons or family guy, much of the storylines on Bob’s Burgers are grounded in reality albeit exaggerated. Lots of the plots are plausible and aren’t nonsensical garbage. It doesn’t have to resort to shock humor or ludicrous plots to relate to an audience.
i mean, unlike the simpsons where Homer the idiot suddenly becomes a mafia, business genius, navy or army man, Bob's Burger stays real, and Family guy is just ridiculous
@@wilsonweiseng6485 Exactly. The Simpson’s have transcended the realm of reality. Homer, a man with a high school education works as a nuclear scientist, has been an astronaut, an assassin, and a CEO. A man who arguably has a learning disability. So the entire premise of the simpsons just seems like a fantastical nonsensical cartoon. But Bob’s Burgers seems grounded, it’s relatable, they feel like a real family not just a caricature. And the characters are more fleshed out and have real personalities. They have relatable struggles and problems. You can relate to Bob because everyone has financial problems and existential crises regarding failure. And most importantly the belchers don’t have a magical saving grace. Often times Bob doesn’t even get what he wants at the end of the episode. And it shows that Bob is just a person, he’s not the main character he’s just a normal guy and not everything goes the way he wants.
They also don't need to shove random political nonsense in the episodes. I'm not saying political jokes can't be funny, but I watch cartoons to unwind, not to listen to the same junk I hear on the news.
1. Family who like each other 2. Family who support each other 3. Storylines that don't chase real-world headlines, retroactively dating the episode 4. Relateable character traits that make most characters feel like actual, real people, not charicatures. 5. Family with lower socioeconomic status has a lifestyle that reflects this realistically. Linda repairs clothes and sews costumes. They drive to Florida to see Linda's parents. Their pricier choices are often offset with noted delayed restaurant repairs and the like. They are turned aside for loans, balance bouncing checks, and are often behind on rent. They feel more like real people.
@@mytruecrimelibrary Yes I love that episode! And because of him and the talk that Bob's transvestite friends give to Tina, she manages to have a great birthday party
One thing I like about Bob's Burgers is Tina. Most cartoons would always have the nerdy boy whose obsessed with girls and is always creepy. But in Bob's Burgers, it's a nerdy girl who's obsessed with boys (which isn't seen that often in cartoons or tv shows, and even though she has her awkward/weird moments at times, it doesn't come off as the usual nerd/geek stereotype. Yes she likes boys, fanfiction, and is somewhat of a geek, but she's her own character despite that.
Not long ago I saw somebody mentioning a Family's Guy/Simpsons/Bob's Burgers crossover and I immediately asked why. They don't mesh well with each other. Leave Bob's burgers alone, keep it pure and wholesome.
I thought this about the simpson's/family guy crossover because they clearly just did it to "cave to pressure" (misunderstood people memeing about a crossover as fans genuinely wanting it) and because they wanted to boost the ratings of their shows with an event when the popularity was dropping off. The thing is, they're stuck in thinking people don't like it because they don't tune in every week (people like to wait for a show to build up and binge the season when all the episodes are released) and they think being legacy media is enough to get people to keep watching it. We haven't watched the Sunday Night lineup in years in my house just because we found more interesting things to watch. Also haven't watched Simpsons in years even though we have been keeping up with the new Family Guy episodes.
Bob's burgers like king of the hill is a good comfort show that is grounded enough to relate to the issues but a cartoon that lets you see such fun things happening While I haven't seen bob's burgers much aside the movie as I didn't have cable I did enjoy it while I saw it.
"King of the Hill" is right. People who worked on "King of the Hill" make "the New Jersey town" of the Belchers something worth watching on Sunday evenings.;)
One thing I love about this show: the characters actually like each other! Yes, they fight occasionally, but ultimately they love each other and have each other's backs. I love how Bob and Linda are so supportive of their kids' interests and want to support them to the best of their ability, like with Tina's horse camp. In so many other shows, Family Guy in particular, it just feels like the characters can't stand each other.
Yeah in Family Guy some of the humour stems from the family beating the shit out of each other. In the episode where Linda teaches Teddy to dance, he accidentally lightly hits her in the face when he does a spin, and he feels TERRIBLE about it. That's something that could never happen in Family Guy, or even The Simpsons
What I find the most admirable about Bob's Burgers is the fact that the show doesn't take the low road and use disgusting topics just to get people's attention (ex. rape, incest jokes, jabs at the government etc.) Meanwhile, Family Guy constantly....CONSTANTLY relies on those topics too often in its modern episodes; a most notorious example is Quagmire's Sister
Quagmire's sister would have been a good episode if they had taken the route of Lois convincing her to go to Joe, because Joe is Quagmire's friend and a cop and could keep her abusive boyfriend out of the house. Instead they portrayed her as stupid instead of just brainwashed. Actually there was an episode of F is for Family (Idk why some people don't like it? Probably want to shit on Bill Burr) anyway there is this guy who is super charming and works his way into everyone's good graces, until Frank and/or his wife see him being a huge jerk to his girlfriend behind closed doors. Then when they try to get her help, the guy turns on their family. I think that episode portrayed the situation better than Quagmire's sister, as they only realized something was wrong when the two were in private. In Quagmire's Sister everyone can see there is a problem, and they see him beating the crap out of her and assaulting her, but Joe makes up that BS (for the sake of the plot) about her having to come to the police and file the complaint herself. This is a) not true. You can and should report someone being attacked no matter who is attacking who or their relationship to each other, because if it's bad enough someone could be getting killed. B) It's misinformation and may cause some people to not seek help when they need it.
It feels like Bob's Burgers hit the mark when they decided to stay with the mundane. No one's going to space, or inheriting an absurd fortune. No one's joining the mob or running for president. It's just a bunch of small, plausible stories that focus on normal life. I think we need more of that, and like you mentioned, a little bit more of a sense of community. I feel like our cynicism is being brewed in the distance growing between all of us, distances growing in large buildings and soulless neighborhoods where people don't know, talk to or care about each other. And yes, the fact that almost no one is mean-spirited makes it a nice, hate-free and stress-free viewing experience. It's pretty hard to write comedy these days without being a asshole to someone else, which means the comedy in B'sB has to be clever and as well as funny. Really love this show.
One thing I really like is that almost all the characters feel like people you could meet in real life. Unlike other shows where everyone essentially plays one role throughout the series, everyone in Bob's Burgers has their own quirks and interests that make them stand out. We've all met someone like Bob, Teddy, Sergeant Bosco, Tina, Jen, Nat, Jimmy Pesto, or really anyone else. The family's love for each other is incredibly endearing since they almost always have each other's backs and Bob being a great father is such a welcome change to horrible father's in media
We all know a family business like "Bob's Burgers," and we went to school with kids like Tina, Gene, and Louise. This small, coastal New Jersey town is a kind of Mayberry/Mt. Airy that we visit each week.
God, I wish I got into the show sooner. I started watching it last year, and caught up on every episode. The show is by far one of, if not, my favorite adult show currently right now. The characters are all written well, and the fact that the family actually gets along with one another and seems more real than most adult shows is a breath of fresh air. I love the series, and hope it continues with new episodes for a few more years, but I hope it doesn't burn itself out like the Simpsons or other long running adult shows.
Same although I wouldn't object to a graceful bow out so it doesn't risk suffering the same fate as the Simpsons or Family Guy. Definitely not yet, but maybe at it's 20th season or something.

Teddy isn‘t just great because he‘s „flawed-but-well-intentioned“. He is, but he‘s also genuinely useful to have around, and he‘s incredibly supportive (to the point of lacking boundaries). Teddy is also incredibly realistic. If you operate a shop, or a community-restaurant, or a communist party, your odds of having at least one customer like Ted are like 90%. Ted‘s wholesomeness is perfectly balanced by his bouts of mania, and aside from the Belchers themselves he is one of the best representations of working-class existence on Television.
Bob's Burgers is one of the very few shows that keep up the pace and frankly is getting better and better over time. It never occurred to me with any other shows, but Bob's Burgers made me cry for being so heartwarming in more than one occasion.
I barely held it in when Rudy had to go to dinner with his parents and step-parents/their boyfriend girlfriend. Like you can tell he's trying to do his magic trick because he thinks the trick will put his parents back together, even if he doesn't really know or acknowledge it himself. We have the whole night where he's by himself, too, and then the trick fails. This is also symbolic of him not being able to fix his parents, and he knows it, too. The kicker for me was when Louise went to dinner with him so he wouldn't be alone in between these two couples, who say on the surface they're doing it for Rudy, but they ignore him in favor of their dates the whole night. Such an amazing episode.
I’ve always found this show relatable as someone with siblings. The belcher kids will pick on each other but not in a horrible way where one sibling gets hurt badly and it’s all just sibling love and rivalry and I’m also in love with how Bob and Linda may have quirks and sometimes quarrel with each other but at the end love each other and their kids and all though there are some fights with each other, it’s not insulting one’s body issues or mentality but it’s just marriage problems that couples who really love each other can actually realistically go through.
I think the reason that I still watch Bobs Burgers is that, in no episode do they abuse eachother. Think to either Family Guy or The Simpsons - Bart being choked was a long running gag, same with the constant fighting, abuse (both sexual and non sexual) and putting down of the family members in Family Guy. If for example, Bob were to strike Tina, he would be thrown from the house, their would be no excuse for Linda to let him back in, he struck her baby, 'their' baby. Characters have well defined, belivable persona's, if someone hit Gene at school, both Bob and Linda would be concerned, they wouldn't brush it off (Oh no Peter, one of out kids got into a fight at school - It wasn't that ugly one, was it? - Meg? No she's still in prison for lighting that forest fire)
I stopped watching family guy because the constant abuse towards Meg became unbearable to watch. Now if Peter died or something bad happened to him then I would be so happy.
Bob's Burgers is one of my comfort shows. Some days when I need a break, I just marathon it and chill. I love particularly that the family actually likes each other. They have their own little things together (eg: Linda and Gene spa day, Louise and Bob Hawk and Chick movie marathons) and they do believable random kid stuff like the thing with the rocket and sticky hand with the jelly beans. And Gene and Purrbo. 100% would have done that kind of thing as a kid. I could good rant about the show for hours.
I am glad it was mentioned that this show is a comfort show. I have on Bob's Burgers every night its calming to put on and I have it on in the background. But also this show has charm to it that is cute in some aspects.
Bob's Burgers and South Park are my two favourite adult animated shows due to them being on the opposite sides of the scale. Bob's Burgers, like you said, is as inoffensive as they can get whereas South Park believes that if you can't make fun of everyone you can't make fun of anyone. If i want seriously offensive humor I'll turn on South Park, if I want to relax and have a calmer day, Bob's Burgers. I love how both shows cover serious topics in their own way while still being so vastly different from each other
Believing that no topic is off limits for mocking/humor doesn't mean they can't write storylines that don't make fun of any one group. I also believe that you should be able to make fun of something without having your show shut down (I was never a fan of The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, never even saw it - I only know it because someone I watch made a video of it and it was in the title, but I never watched that.) However I learned because incest is a possible storyline one could get if they play the HORROR game that is apparently also full of cannibalism, the person who made the game was bullied into oblivion for including taboo subjects in her HORROR. GAME. This is the literal definition of a snowflake -- people click on a horror game, get horrified, and act like the thing shouldn't exist. There is literally a Planet. Effing. Sheen. Episode about one of the characters being put in prison because people don't like looking at her, and the lesson is you can't bully people (or something) out of the public sphere because one person doesn't like how it looks or sounds. When Planet Sheen (even though I like it, I acknowledge this is an unpopular opinion) makes more sense than society we have taken a wrong turn and need to start beating up babies for getting offended so frequently, and take back the power. Stop caring if people get their feewings hurt and tell them to eff off and suck it up.
They gave us that Hank & Bobby relationship we wanted with Bob & Gene and most episodes are real situations they're aren't randomly going to space or fighting some world eater
To be fair, those storylines came after the shows had been on air for 20 or 30 years and they had gone through like 5 teams of writers. That being said, Family Guy's best episodes were the three or four where they parodied other shows/movies/books.
Cant wait to see your season 13 review! I think that some of the more reasons batch have been really good like the April fools episode (one of my favorites of the entire show) and the one where Linda is at the school I love the last joke about insider trading!
Absolutely love and admire your Bob's Burgers videos! Its kinda fitting for this to come out right after the 2 episode special last night lol While I really miss the old animation and humour the show had to offer in its earlier seasons, and i do think that the other seasons (around 3-7) will be like no other; I still really appreciate and love what the show has to offer even to this day. The movie is a masterpiece that I believe deserves all the love it receives, and then some! (still coping over the fact it wasn't nominated for a emmy or an oscar
Another reason why I find Bob's Burgers so amazing is the writing!! When you're watching the show each Character has amazing one liners and they're all so hilarious 😂😂😂 also the way the characters interact with each other is always comedy gold. Each character has such a unique personality and anyone unnecessary to the show just kind of disappears and that's ok too. Bob' s Burgers is my comfort show and I will love it until the end of time
What you said here about Season 1 is really spot on. I was one of those people who did not care for Season 1 when it originally aired, and almost gave up on the show. But I stuck with it, and am glad I did, because Season 2 really stepped up in quality and kept me hooked. Going back now and watching season 1 episodes--it's absolutely true how much more risque that season was in comparison to the rest of the seasons.
An example of the show’s chill nature “Oh, hey Marshmellow” A not exactly modestly dressed black trans woman with a deep voice and an admittedly stripper sounding nickname is just casually accepted by everyone in the community and reacted to like it’s not a big deal that she’s around, cause it’s not. That’s awesome 🏳️⚧️
What I love about this show is just how the main cast are genuinely kind people, and because of that they’re on good terms with almost everyone: most conflicts work out because other people in the show want to help and support the Belchers. And for Bob, he’s a genuinely talented chef and every so often he succeeds or gets recognized for it; like when he entered and lost a burger competition, but the winner (a professional multi star chef) brought a ton of people to the restaurant because he loved the burger Bob made.
I both love and hate that we never really see Pocket-Sized Rudy, we just hear about him vicariously because of Regular-Sized Rudy. It's a little like Fuzzy Slippers from _Hey Arnold!_
I missed like….. 7 or 8 or 9 seasons of it lol. And I rewatched the whole thing on Hulu and was surprised how … great the show is. The thing I get from it is Bob isn’t portrayed as dumb like Homer or Peter, he’s just a bit unlucky. And there is no doubt at the end of the day that he loves his family and will do anything for his family, and that the entire family loves each other and him. I mean look at the My Little Pony (whatever their name of it was lol) episode where Bob was willing to get the tattoo to get the doll back for Tina.
To be fair -- I don't remember the episode -- but I'd be like "that's my effing property and I'm taking it back" and I'd just take it. Like if it's Bob's or Tina's they have no claim to it. Also the pony stuff really should have had their own "adults only" or "kids only" split up cons so the target audience wasn't overrun with big, hairy men. Like I'm not saying they aren't allowed to like ponies or even shouldn't have their cons but the kids should have been allowed their own pony-cons without adults there as well. This is just me rambling now but I did see a thing that was like, there aren't any places that are just for kids anymore. Everything has to be "all ages" or have an adult section or something stupid like that. Restaurants even got rid of their playgrounds. The other thing that irks me is everything adults enjoy have to be kid friendly (Like COPA. Imagine an edict that strip clubs and cigarettes and porn all have to be child friendly). The internet is not FOR children just because they use it, and you can't say the whole internet has to be child safe like it's a toy or something.
I don’t watch a lot of TV and never saw a single episode of Bob’s Burgers until an illness forced me to stay with my brother for a while & he watches the show during dinner. I absolutely love it and look forward to watching it with him every night. Its an amazing show. ❤️
I just wanna say that bob's burgers hits a note with me ever since it came out it's just been 1 of those shows that no matter what it when it came on I would catch it and now I catch myself streaming the episodes great video haven't been finished yet keep up the content
Bob's burger's success is because it was given time to grow-something that will never happen with streaming services which is a shame....many shows with lots of potential are being chucked.
I don’t know, I’ve watched the show from the beginning, and with each passing season I get more and more certain that Teddy is going to eventually snap, most likely killing Bob and/or Linda
The relationships of the characters are what really sell the show. Bob and Linda are still madly in love even after 13-14 years. They're more subdued in their affection, but they constantly have each other's back, speak pretty highly of each other even if it's pointing out the quirks they love about them. The kids are very close and loving to each other and their parents. They like to drive them crazy but in that fun, I got you, or only I get to make fun of you. Tina is the middle child of the family, and we all know it. Despite Gene being the middle in age, in personality attention, she doesn't draw as much as the other two.. Linda's favorite is Gene because he's just as wild and in love showmanship as she is. Bob's favorite is Louise. She's chaotic to the max. But she's fun to be around she makes things interesting. Tina, though, being the obvious middle child is never really left out of their love or never forgotten. They remember her and do things with her. She's not actually forgotten about when that happens it's usually because she's a quiet person. But they never make her feel left out. Bob and Linda adore their kids, and even when they can be challenging to deal with. They never show absolute contempt for them. They don't strangle or beat them for existing near them. They're a pretty happy family struggles aside. I also love that the kids are best friends with each other. There's no mean tone to their relationships or interactions. They like each other and care about each other. This family is literally one of the best TV families in American media.
It’s genuinely interesting that “losing its edge” made it a more enjoyable experience overall. Instead of needing to push the envelope it finds a comfortable space in its slice of life content
I remember coming across DVD collections back when the store I frequent still carried them. I didn't think much of them back in the earlier seasons but curiosity got me to give the show a chance and over a decade later I have been keeping up with the latest episodes. The warmth and love the main family members have for each other, the strength of their leading female characters and the depths of their many characters. It doesn't try to be hardcore edgy like most of their contemporaries. Like Bob's burgers the show does its own thing and it's appreciated by the many fans who came to know and love it for what an underapprecited gem it really is.
One of the biggest things that stands out in bobs burgers is the genuine love that’s in the family. Shows like family guy and American dad, while they have their moments, usually involve the family being at each other’s throat and causing each other harm, regardless of who it even is. Bob and his family LOVE each other in every episode. You see it in their dialogue, their actions, their motivations; it feels real. I love shows like American dad and South Park because of how out-of-pocket it can be, but bob’s burgers is a genuinely loving show and for that (along with many other reasons) it is by far one of the best adult animated shows out there.
My new favourite pastime is coloring in my Bob's Burgers coloring book while rewatching Bob's burgers while smoking from my bong covered in Bob's burgers stickers. Bob's burgers.
You’re so right. South Park is harsh but true, Family Guy is harsh but mean, Bob’s Burgers is kind. It’s what I put on most days to keep me sane and positive.
I loooove bobs burgers My whole family and I are obsessed and used to just have the show play on repeat as background noise back in the day We could quote anything from any episode lol Big fan GOOD show and the movie was GREAT! Gooood stuff love bobby burg
I love Bob cause hes a genuinely good man! Simple as that, i wouldn't be surprised if he took the leftover food and gave it to the homeless which is something that i doubt most other cartoon fathers would do.
One of the reasons I love bobs burgers is because bob reminds me a lot of my father, Kelly. While he never had a restaurant, he always really did, but because we were struggling a lot in Portland, Oregon, it just never happened. He’s living comfortably today but sadly has yet to open one, still it hits close to home and I like that :3
I don't know if The Simpsons is necessarily bad, at least, not to me. To me, it's not the show it once was because it's not as rebellious and envelope-pushing as it once was. Just different.
I got my grandmother and my boyfriend into Bob's Burgers, they never thought that they'd ever love it because all adult shows are so violence and sex oriented. But they do love Bob's Burgers, for the humor, the characters, and some of the lessons learned. It really is such a great comfort show, and I love sitting down to watch it with them whenever they ask.
There is a subversion of the comedy character tropes in Bob's Burgers that is very important to identify. TRADITIONAL COMEDY Using the "8 characters of comedy" as our lens, traditional American sitcoms often place the husband/lead as the "lovable looser" archetype. These characters are extremely proactive; chasing their dreams and suffering the punishments when they inevitably take shortcuts to success. The natural counterweight to the "lovable looser" is the "logical one/voice of reason"; a much more passive character who often functions as the voice of the audience, and this role often falls to the wife. BOBS BURGERS Bobs Burgers kinda subverted, not just the roles, but the entire archetypal system. Bob is generally passive; just trying to get through his day and find little joys. This would suggest Lynda is the "lovable looser", but she is not. She is the "enabler". A character that encourages and empowers all those around her INTO active characters, BUT its important to note while she primarily enables action; she does NOT often raise the stakes. This keeps her framed as a loving encouraging parent, as opposed to a irresponsible/negligent one, and she responds as a protector when things go awry. The steak raising primarily goes to the Children who press far beyond Lynda's initial encouragements/enabling, along with the townfolk who are all a bit insane and are far too willing to engage with the kids antics. Its a really cool system that allows a wide array of characters to forward the plot despite the lack of a "lovable looser" parental figure.
It's the only "adult" cartoon I can watch with my parents and actually enjoy it🤣 But in my town, outside my family no one knows what bobs burgers is and it's DEPRESSING😭🤣 I love this silly lil show
bob's burgers shows that satire punches up, not down. it's why people prefer it over things like family guy who's entire premise is punching down on marginalized people in the name of "humour"
Two things. I wish the Bobs Burgers Movie would’ve came out at least 5 or 6 years ago, and secondly, I wish the movie didn’t come out at the same time as TOP GUN MAVERICK. Also the past few seasons 9-12 have been kinda meh, but this latest season has actually been good again.
This show is often compared to King of the Hill but there's one distinct difference. Hank's kid was a total freak but always came off like he cried himself to sleep at night over it. Bob's kids are total freaks, but they're okay with that.
It's also a family that actually LIKES each other. While they may bitch and moan about things, the family does actually care about each other. It also helps that as the show has developed we've gotten to see how the family has its overall dynamics, but also unique interpersonal dynamics between the family members. We know that Jean and Linda have mom/son days where they get up to shenanigans, etc. And yeah, like you mentioned... they don't ever punch down at people when it comes to the jokes. That's really refreshing
The children were meanspirited to the point of being spiteful and unlikeable in the first season. You can tell how hard they worked to course correct between S1 and S2.
This show is great! I started watching it with my parents when I was still a young teen since most other adult shows had too much inappropriate humor and/or graphic stuff going on. Sure a lot of the jokes still contain "adult humor" but it's not portrayed in a way that is meant to make people feel scared and uncomfortable. It really is a show suitable for not just strictly adults. Even though I am an adult now, there are still many other adult cartoons that my parents recommend I avoid and I can see why. Also, like many other cartoons that go on for a very long time, some newer episodes are victims of the writers running out of ideas, but there still are a few good episodes here and there. I'm never going to miss out on watching an episode of this show. Love it to death!
What I like about it the most is that it doesn’t try to be like family guy or the Simpsons. It’s established itself as its own show so they don’t have to compare themselves to the other shows anymore.
I've watched Bob's Burgers since the 1st time the pilot aired. I'm a big fan. I even have a Kuchi Kopi costume that I use to humiliate my 2 now-teenage daughters every Halloween.
The "ugly art style " complaint absolutely astounds me to this day. While not well known, I have seen the show Loren Bouchard worked on before this one, and if you want to talk ugly art styles, I challenge you to binge watch Lucy, Daughter of the Devil
It takes you 12 minutes to explain why Bob's Burgers is popular?!? Here is why it is popular: the siblings play nice together and the parents like each other. Period. Look at any other sitcom with siblings, animated or live action, and it's the same thing: half the drama is just the siblings battling each other. Here they help each other. There's no Jan vs Marcia, nor Bart vs Lisa. It's Tina, Gene and Louise against the world and there is something wholesome about there. Plus Louis is a pyscho, that's pretty cool too.
What I like is that Bob him self isn't the stupid dad like all of Cartoon Dads. He owns a business and would probably be more successful if he didn't have an an ego that often takes the better of him. It's often his family that are the stupid ones and is always trying to fix their mess until someone insults them so he always doubles down on their trouble.
What should I talk about next? Comment it here!
Don't talk anymore. Your review sucks.
Wish it got the praise that those edgy “we go after everyone” 🙄shows do
Highschool councillors don’t seem to be presented in a very good light.

Honestly i never realize it but you are absolutely right about Bob and Linda!
I recently became a believer. My girlfriend introduced me to Bob’s Burgers and this video pretty much sums up how I felt about the show and why I love it. Futurama and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are my favorite adult cartoons, so this was a huge departure from what I was use to, but it’s literally the stuff like:
Bob: “Regular Sized Rudy? Why do they call you that?”
Regular-Sized Rudy: “Look at me, I’m regular.”
That has me falling out of my bed onto the wooden floor, rolling in pain.
But
Bob's Burgers is definitely more about finding humor in the small parts of life, rather than wild settings and situations like most others, including Futurama.
@@wilsonweiseng6485
Exactly.
I'm not saying political jokes can't be funny, but I watch cartoons to unwind, not to listen to the same junk I hear on the news.
my favorite line will forever be “is this restaurant seamen friendly?” and everyone looks at each other in silence 😂😂
1. Family who like each other
2. Family who support each other
3. Storylines that don't chase real-world headlines, retroactively dating the episode

It’s pretty brief all things considered. And, surprisingly, Bob’s Burgers isn’t actually the butt of the joke
The Simpsons would work with it ok, not family guy though
@@10KProductionsYeah Family Guy is actually the butt lol
Bob's burgers like king of the hill is a good comfort show that is grounded enough to relate to the issues but a cartoon that lets you see such fun things happening
While I haven't seen bob's burgers much aside the movie as I didn't have cable I did enjoy it while I saw it.
I can't believe 2011 was 12 years ago. Even after all this timez it still feels like a newish show.
What I find the most admirable about Bob's Burgers is the fact that the show doesn't take the low road and use disgusting topics just to get people's attention (ex. rape, incest jokes, jabs at the government etc.)
Meanwhile, Family Guy constantly....CONSTANTLY relies on those topics too often in its modern episodes; a most notorious example is Quagmire's Sister

When I’m feeling sad and overwhelmed, this show always makes me feel better. I wish I was in the show with them ❤
I'm surprised that Fox puts out a show so wholesome and well meaning
they never had an eye for good shows anyway
Lol especially teddy 😂 he really is the embodiment of flawed and well meaning he became my favourite character before I even realized it❤
I feel like mort has a lot of potential bc he's a mortician with a basically ancient mom
0:35 Linda's smile 😭😭😭😭😭
My favorite show to just sit down and watch with my fam ( this our comfort show )
I look forward to hearing your thoughts about "Show Mama from the Grave" and "The Plight before Christmas".
Yes! Both have become some of my favorite episodes
Yes! They got me tearing up, haven’t had a show do that to me in a while. Loved them.
Cant wait to see your season 13 review! I think that some of the more reasons batch have been really good like the April fools episode (one of my favorites of the entire show) and the one where Linda is at the school I love the last joke about insider trading!
I’ll (hopefully) have that video out sometime soon! I have some other stuff in the works but that’s definitely on the list.
Absolutely love and admire your Bob's Burgers videos! Its kinda fitting for this to come out right after the 2 episode special last night lol
While I really miss the old animation and humour the show had to offer in its earlier seasons, and i do think that the other seasons (around 3-7) will be like no other; I still really appreciate and love what the show has to offer even to this day.
The movie is a masterpiece that I believe deserves all the love it receives, and then some! (still coping over the fact it wasn't nominated for a emmy or an oscar
Love this video! Constantly astounds me that the show is still this fresh and funny after this long, it’s incredible.
An example of the show’s chill nature
“Oh, hey Marshmellow”
A not exactly modestly dressed black trans woman with a deep voice and an admittedly stripper sounding nickname is just casually accepted by everyone in the community and reacted to like it’s not a big deal that she’s around, cause it’s not. That’s awesome 🏳️⚧️
“Hey baby” gotta love Marshmallow 😊
That's dumb
While South Park will always be my favorite animated comedy, Bob's Burgers is definently in a close second.
Really not sure Id call Tina "The voice of reason", thats Bob
Bobs burger is good because the family actually loves each other and is relatable to some point
I never want this sweet, delightfully weird show to end. I’ll be heartbroken. 😢
I loooove bobs burgers
My whole family and I are obsessed and used to just have the show play on repeat as background noise back in the day
We could quote anything from any episode lol
Big fan GOOD show and the movie was GREAT!
He’s living comfortably today but sadly has yet to open one, still it hits close to home and I like that :3
Yeah bob burgers is the new king of the hill
It was nice that Bob isn’t a horrible father or husband, and his family actually likes him, especially Louise.
Loren cares about the fans hense why they made an episode based off fan art
That was cool!
And I know Loren won’t let the show get bad like the Simpsons has. If they really started running out of ideas for episodes he would end the show
With a great series finale obviously
I don't know if The Simpsons is necessarily bad, at least, not to me. To me, it's not the show it once was because it's not as rebellious and envelope-pushing as it once was. Just different.
I got my grandmother and my boyfriend into Bob's Burgers, they never thought that they'd ever love it because all adult shows are so violence and sex oriented. But they do love Bob's Burgers, for the humor, the characters, and some of the lessons learned. It really is such a great comfort show, and I love sitting down to watch it with them whenever they ask.
I didn't join back into 2011 but since like 2020 or something and i have been a huge fan ever since, not missing a single episode.
i love bobs burgers so fucking much
There is a subversion of the comedy character tropes in Bob's Burgers that is very important to identify.
TRADITIONAL COMEDY
Using the "8 characters of comedy" as our lens, traditional American sitcoms often place the husband/lead as the "lovable looser" archetype.
BOBS BURGERS
Bobs Burgers kinda subverted, not just the roles, but the entire archetypal system.
Favourite comfort show of mine ever. Another delightful recent one (live action though) is Not Dead Yet. Those are my two comfort shows. 💙💙💙

It's the only "adult" cartoon I can watch with my parents and actually enjoy it🤣
But in my town, outside my family no one knows what bobs burgers is and it's DEPRESSING😭🤣 I love this silly lil show
This episode was a instant classic. 😂
This show's writing is a million times better than modern Family Guy
Good video, excellent point about Linda and Bob's relationship.
bob's burgers shows that satire punches up, not down. it's why people prefer it over things like family guy who's entire premise is punching down on marginalized people in the name of "humour"
the characters are three dimensional and actually like each other
LOVE ur video, best bobs burgers video i’ve ever watched
peter pescadero is like glenn coco, barely seen but is well recognised
Bob's little voices for his food makes me wanna donthe same to my things but i feel like my stepdad'll kick me out if i do that 😂
This show is often compared to King of the Hill but there's one distinct difference.
I miss early Bob's Burgers when the episodes were more adult oriented. Newer seasons are more for a younger audience than the first few seasons.
Let's not forget their amazing songs!
The show has the entire family involved in the episodes, but in a way that you’re not annoyed with the characters.
it feels like they're a real family, who have a struggling restaurant. and all live in that apartment together.
Plus they look like animated muppets which is neat :)
Plus Louis is a pyscho, that's pretty cool too.
are you going to make another ranking video about Bob’s Burgers? Now that the newest season is over.
I have a few videos planned, I'd like to do that at some point.
@@10KProductions no pressure take your time
S13 still has a few batch of episodes to come out :) it’s just on a small hiatus rn.. not sure why tho, probably sports
