    I like when you said 'Yeah! I know, It is freaking massive, but what sim room isn't'. So true in general.

      I really think it’s the natural next step. If one doesn’t do it anymore, two sure will and so on until the room has more stuff than I know what to do with.

    Love the creativity with the front speaker mount. Great rig setup. I’m trying to decide between 5.1 or an amazing headset.

      See I also listen to music with friends in this room so I use the surround sound for entertainment too. All about your use, I would definitely suggest finding what you need. If it's just you, then splurge on a headset lol I opted for the klipsch speakers because they were on sale and a coworker talked me into getting a 12 inch sub in addition. Altogether I spent less than 1200 bucks for the audio setup, head unit included in that

      @@conscowens2562 thanks for the info. This would 90% be for racing. But if it do pull the trigger on a premium audio setup it would still be way cheaper than the Porsche GT3 that I really want lol.

      Getting a klipsch surround sound. Thinking about you.

    Hello, can you tell me how you connected everything to the PC with what cable, thank you

      There are two USB hubs I’ve used for the non-critical hardware. The keyboard, mouse, button box and things of that nature are all on usb hubs hanging out the backside of the pc. While things like the motion platform, handbrake, wheel and pedals are all directly to the motherboard. I have the sound running through the hdmi port off the graphics card, as well as the three display ports running each of my triple monitors. If I need to charge my cube controls formula wheel, I will use my top panel usb port. I think that covers most of it.
      Big deal to make sure you have proper grounding on your rig. It’s the difference between your pedals being accurate and being super wonky.

      If you’re asking about the speakers specifically… I used 16AWG speaker cable between the receiver and each speaker.

    Whyd you need the reciever? Can it plug into the back of the pc?

    • @conscowens2562
      @conscowens2562  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It uses the HDMI from the GPU into the receiver. Apparently, you can’t run HD audio through optical. Which was a complete pain in the ass. Plus I will also use to output audio from other sources too. The receiver is kind of the hub, also allowing me to tune the speakers to my liking. I did try those Logitech surround speakers and was disappointed in their performance.

      You can't just plug in a 5.1 system to the PC

      Also the power consumption too, you can get sound cards for this, but they'll be too weak.

    How have you set up the Yamaha receiver for strictly Sim racing? Did you have to do anything specific in the room calibration or fine tuning?

    • @conscowens2562
      @conscowens2562  ปีที่แล้ว

      I listen to an absolute ton of music in here in addition to the sim racing stuff. I run an HDMI to a fourth monitor where I can access the tuning menu. It does have a YAO mic, but I was not pleased with the sound so I just tune the speakers by ear now lol

    • @keithiegee1
      @keithiegee1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you just adjust the volume by ear or did you do any PEQ tuning?

    • @conscowens2562
      @conscowens2562  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried using the YAO mic that is included with the receiver but it didnt seem right. I ended up tuning everything independently by ear.

    Do all of the sim games use 5.1 sound?

    • @conscowens2562
      @conscowens2562  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesn’t seem that all of them do. I will say that it makes cars directly next to you much easier to hear. The sound stage that it provides helps paint a more clear picture of proximity to the other cars on track. The bass rumbles well for curbing or hitting the infield😆 so in short, it’s the most immersive stereo set up ever. I really don’t think there’s too much support for “higher” end audio setups as the culture veers towards headphones.

    Screen on right shows diff colours that would really annoy me

      You were right man. One of them was using nvidia color and the others were on rgb

    I also went 5.1. But did you test it? What sims does it work in?

    • @conscowens2562
      @conscowens2562  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With iRacing it seems to do ok. The sub will act as an LFE if you get into select that function which does incredible things. As far as the surround, iracing is lacking a little bit. It does enough to understand spacing a little better. Assetto corsa sounds like a cheap video game unfortunately
