Since retiring, just the fact that I can do whatever I want makes me feel like a million. I truly enjoy simple things, like driving around and listening to music, visiting with friends, looking at the magical beauty of our Christmas tree (I don’t want to take it down!), a gorgeous sunset, and yes, sitting with a cup of hot coffee or tea and feeling grateful for my health, & a warm, safe home (even though all is not perfect). ☺️🎄☕️🌕♥️
I totally agree with you. Sometimes, I find it a challenge to dress up and look my best on a daily basis, it is far easier to slip and go with the 'relaxed look'. Even though I live very frugally to make ends meet, I make it a game to find free entertainment, or just enjoy the beauty of nature. Its important to always have something to look forward to, so allow myself a trip to the 'Wonderful Buffet' with a friend about every week or ten days. In the past, I only ate out on Birthdays, or other special occasions. Reality is that I couldn't possibly make such a feast at home even for half the price. With less time remaining, I am keen to have no regrets, and do what I can to enjoy every moment. Living a purposeful life is my goal, even though I 'fall off the wagon' once in a while when it comes to house cleaning.
The fact that I don't have to get up early in the morning, deal with inclement weather or the traffic to go somewhere I really don't want to go...work! Since being retired, I truly feel like a millionaire as I can cozy up with a cup of tea and watch the snow come down. I also have a canary who sings constantly and it makes me feel like it's spring time. Being retired I now have a Chocolate Labrador Retriever (who is also a calming creature) to go on long walks with in the park. I AM a millionaire! Thank you for all your inspiring videos.
I am an armchair traveler 😁 and I'm happy with that. I worked in the corporate world for 30+ years and I am so absolutely happy I don't have to do that anymore. I'm 63 next month, not officially retired yet. I am a taxi driver for the Amish folks in my area which pays for my fairly small mortgage pmt. Thankfully the company I worked for contributed to our 401K's and I took advantage of it. I just recently started saying over and over before I even get out of bed, "Today's gonna be a good day, today's gonna be a good day" ! 😁 So thankful for your friendship Margaret! 🤗
As I am watching this lovely video, I am sitting out on my patio, in my backyard sanctuary, birds at the feeder, a lovely cup of tea…..only in the 4o’s, but gloriously sunny and calm. This is my restorative , sane and very much happy place. Interesting about the bird sounds as I have come to recognize some of the birds who visit buy their chatter. I think that my health is my “millionaire feeling”. At 70 staying strong and healthy allow for so many other marvelous possibilities. Can’t wait to see what the year will bring. Be well and be kind to yourself❤
I’ve crafted a visual storyboard of what my life will be like in retirement just a few short months from now. I promised myself I will live in a brand-new apartment overlooking the sea (already chosen the building), have breakfast every morning on the balcony with music playing, relax by the rooftop pool and watch the sunset twinkling on the water, buy fresh flowers every week, go for long walks to the market, and celebrate peace and quiet.
Excellent! And, if you're used to and enjoy having people around you, be sure to include family and old and new friends in your plans. Otherwise, it can become surprisingly lonely pretty quickly.
I like a nice bubble bath in candlelight ..I also like sitting in my garden with a cup of tea listening to birds singing. In expensive but priceless .xx
I purchased some blue and white mini lights and entwined them around a large multi candle holder and every evening I plug it in and it makes me so happy and relaxed. I paid under $3 at Walmart for it and I love it.
I believe the more active a person is, the richer they are in health, and their view of life. Eating, and walking outside is one of my favorite choices, and I like to cheer on others actively participating in outdoor sports and events.
My plan for 2023 is to "travel" to a new place every day, whether in person or via TH-cam. It's so mind-freeing and makes me feel like a wealthy retiree. Yesterday I "went" to New Zealand--so beautiful and exotic!
Thank you for this! I retired this year, and one of my projects has been to connect up with new and old friends - have a coffee, have a drink, go on a hike, meet for lunch. These are things that were very hard to do while working full-time.
I feel on top of the world once our chilly winter has passed and I can sit out on our front deck in the morning with my furbabies and a cup of hot coffee, whilst soaking up the sun. It is so enjoyable to listen to the birdsong emanating from my old Apple and Mountain Ash tree.
Hello Margaret,,I feel great each day that I can get up and take care of daily needs..I can see, hear, walk, talk, still have a sound mind .all those things make me rich. ...That is a great way to shop and sounds like fun.
I enjoy going to a Starbuck's, or some other coffee place, & getting an (admittedly) overpriced coffee w/ a friend & just sitting & visiting for a while. It's like a mini vacation.
I like to sing. After I warm up my voice, I sing Christmas carols or other music and imagine I am singing before an audience or my family and my singing brings them great joy. We need more joy.
I fully endorse the idea of buying some special items. It's something I do in Marks & Spencer food hall and such a treat. Also now I've retired to take my time getting ready and putting on my make up. That makes me feel a sense of well being, even if it's just to go for a walk or to yoga!
Margaret, i do many of the things that you suggested.i light candles sip a glas of wine, drink coffee, take my snack outside. I wear comfortable but lovely lounge clothes. I feel luxurious when I do so.
What small, inexpensive, luxuries do you personally enjoy? Do you agree that it is possible to feel like a millionaire, even if you aren't one? Let's have a chat!
My feeling like a rich person is every day during pool time. In our senior park, only 5 regular pool users including me and my 85-yr old mother. We go at different time of the day to let each other having the whole pool. The 20 meter pool is serviced twice a week and heated all year round. I learned swimming after retirement last july and have been going 6 days a week. I lost a ton of weight and sculpted my body like never before. Being in water truly makes me feel luxurious and relaxing.
New to your channel. My husband and I retired in 2021 which for me followed a 44 year nursing career. Although I was fortunate the last 21 of my working years to have a job that was on the day shift with no weekends and holidays, I spent 2 hours daily in heavy traffic daily getting to and from work which at the time living in a cold snowy climate traveling in snow and ice was no fun, it turned my 8 hour work day into 10+ hours. After being lifelong New Englanders we decided when we retired to sell our home of 32 years and relocate to The Villages in central Florida which is the largest 55+ community in the world. We are no millionaires, but we were savers and careful with our debt which allowed us to be able to relocate to this beautiful community and able to cash purchase a smaller low maintenance home that is surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and have countless activities available to us to participate in. And we are also blessed with having great friendly new neighbors from all over the country from all walks of life that greatly add to our enjoyment living where we do. It is truly wonderful to get to a place in life where you can be a human being instead of a human doing and can just sit back and watch the palm trees grow. 🌴🌴🌴
I am 58 and still working. Reteirment age for us women in Israel went up, so I will be able if I choose, to retire at 64 with a pentian. As to feel a millioner, I splerge on buying home very good Coffee beens. It is quite spendy for my life style, but I feel rich for having my Coffee, the expensive one twise daily. My Coffee time sense is like a message to myself- I am the manager of my time and money. Must say, many of my colegues (social workers as me) keep working till 67, and some even more if possible for different reasons.
Yes they Government here in Australia put the official age up a few years back and now I have to work till I'm 67. I'm 64 currently. It can be exhausting. I work in a hospital so its all go all day long.
I love that you did this video, thank you! One very nice thing I can do that makes me feel special is going to a very nice gym with towel service; shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in shower dispensers. They also have hair dryers and hand lotion. There is a nice sauna in the ladies locker room so it is ladies only. There is a nice swimming pool and hot tub there also. The gym membership is free because my Medicare insurance pays for it! Also, I love your idea of packing a lunch and taking it outside...although the winter weather makes that challenging, I can drive to the waterfront and sit in my car and enjoy the view. Also, I almost forgot about how soothing burning candles can be. Thanks for the reminder!
We are retired and living in Corpus Christi Texas. We love walking the beach on Padre island it makes us feel so great and is free. The winter is best without vacationers just the usual people who live there and we greet each other. We collect shells and just enjoy the small each town.
I grocery shop once a week. Instead of buying off brands, off season, and cheap, I buy fresh and better meat, veggie, eggs, dairy, and fruit; just enough for a week. I also use good salt, pepper, sugar, and oil. I find that when I eat good stuff and enjoy eating, I don’t overeat and waste a lot less food money. It helps that it is a small household just me and my elderly mother. Our grocery expense is between $100 to $150usd a month for two. Our two meals a day are always enjoyable highlights for this retiree :)
I see your post was three days ago, so your grocery budget is now $112-165. LOL But yes, buying real food is so much better than the junk food we'd buy for convivence. Now there is time to cook! Love it.
Since retiring I enjoy going to my favorite coffee place for a cup of coffee and bagel with my friend and in the summer I enjoy everyday sitting by the creek with a good book and my dog by my side it’s just heavenly!!!
I do many of these. My favorite is a footpath with expensive scented soap. Candles are too dangerous, I don't suggest seniors even attempt to use candles. Use steaming fragrant herbs and flowers in your hot pot.
I just started watching your channel. I'm 53, but I feel like if you want to thrive in the future, you need to find women older than yourself who are living the way you want to live in the coming decades. This was a great topic. I've noticed, when I watch videos made by wealthy people, there's a certain aesthetic or decor to the rooms they are in or hotel rooms they stay at. Why not try and recreate that aesthetic in one room in your home, say, your master bedroom or master bathroom? Then you can have a millionaire's sanctuary for yourself. ♥️🇨🇦
@@sixtyandme well, for more expensive hotel rooms, it's things like a really great mattress and all the bedding is neutral shades, good quality, high thread count, everything coordinates. The walls are a neutral, calm colour. No clutter at all, things like a bouquet of flowers, a water decanter and glass, a comfortable chair to relax in, blackout blinds, a place to write. All the things designed to help you relax and be comfortable and sleep well. A cozy housecoat and slippers to use. Silky pyjamas. A selection of good reading material. A breakfast tray, small coffee maker or kettle, with a selection of coffees, teas, snacks. The sky is the limit! Create your own 5 star hotel room.🇨🇦♥️
My mindset is I’m worth it. I factor in monthly costs when I buy something. I have only bought Estée Lauder lipstick since 1989. In 2022 prices a tube costs $36 .. it will last me at least a year….$3 a month. In warm temperatures I eat on my deck and spend almost all day sitting watching birds, squirrels and deer.
I have been a regular walker for years now! Found a quote a long time ago that I have adopted as my own..... "I walk for my soul. My body just follows along."
To just enjoy a warm bath, with bubble bath foam. It can be a in expensive bubble bath product, from the grocery store. Makes me feel a million bucks!!!
Margaret, thank you so much for this great video message! you bring so many great messages to us. . You are a very special person and I thank you so much! Also, I must comment that there is a beautiful picture of you on the intro page. Great smile!!!
I have new pets a set of male and female finches with no nest lol, they are so low mantainence just feed every 2 nd day and clean cage every 2 or 3 weeks their song is delightful and not loud at all🥰💕they bring life to your space and song 🎶
Really love and enjoy your videos Margaret. They really resonate with me. I love it when occasionally I can lie around in bed in the morning on a weekend when I don't have to go to work. The crisp white sheets feel luxurious and I'll lie in bed eating fresh fruit whole. Sip my coffee and peruse my phone for emails and just luxuriating in the time spent lying about. I love the idea of buying a special dress with sequins etc and just dressing up for a telly show like its the real thing. Make up and and a side table of delicious finger foods and a half glass of special wine. Yummy how good is that. I could even take piccys of myself and post them to make some memories for later days. really enjoyed the concept of this video. Thanks
thank you, love this video, also always nice to hear about the way Franch women live. maybe if you could make the video how Frenh women do not worry about things souch as we other women tend to do.
Great ideas! One more to the glass of wine and candles is fire place. Roaring fire or just looking at the flames is also very calming. If you don't have a fire place just turn your tv to the fire channel and voila. 🤗
Love the color of your blouse. That's your color Margaret!! Your necklace is beautiful. I always have lunch outside in my garden when the weather is warm. I enjoy my 2 mile walk every day. Thank you so much for sharing
I'm grateful for the people and things that I have in my life. You've given some good advice. Feeling like a millionaire is definitely a mindset. Stay well!
Nice article, makes me want to go to a food market and just pick out something special for dinner. Unfortunately stuck with a small supermarket that does nothing for the imagination. Roll on spring so I can get further afield and choices are more pleasing. Still enjoyed the article.
Can you order food for delivery from another market? I find even some different kinds of teas or hot cocoa I like on Amazon and I feel like that's a way of treating myself sometimes to something a little different I can't get in my local stores.
@@tinabrickley8157 unfortunately nothing near by . We have just discovered a farm shop about 10mils away also a milk shed so I will be using them from now on .
I take dance lessons at a dance studio, about $60. Per month. Then dance where ever I can, mostly free. I am learning something fun, getting good exercise and meeting new and interesting people. I think that is a good value for $60. A month.
Several natural health specialists recommend drinking a slice of lemon in warm/hot water is very detoxifying. I keep a beautiful special tea cup w/ matching saucer and make my cup of lemon -water every day for medicinal purpose. The special cup & saucer make it a special ritual that I enjoy. Something simple and inexpensive.
After church today the priest said we could take away the Christmas plants after mass. So I picked a beautiful pale yellow poinsettias and I felt like I had a friend traveling with me on my way home, and I felt so joyful. Your videos are helping me enjoy getting older. God bless you.
I enjoy buying a lovely more expensive steak at the grocery store from time to time. A friend of mine pointed out to me that without having to spend large amounts of money for family groceries anymore it is possible to enjoy a cut of meat that I would never had considered possible when my family was still at home.
Living overseas I noticed the women spend their money on accessories. Shoes, purses, scarves. Small purchases with big impact. It’s all about the accessories!!
As a Christian, my Father is the King of everything, and the Bible tells me I am an heir with Christ. So I can ask Him for anything, and His ear is open to my prayers. Mostly, I thank Him for all He has done already for me!
I like your hair a little longer like it is now. I don't worry about money because there is not much I need to buy in retirement. Don't need work clothers don't need luches to go, don't buy alot of gas. But I do use cupons. I always have because why not? Buty it for less.

Great ideas! One more to the glass of wine and candles is fire place. Roaring fire or just looking at the flames is also very calming. If you don't have a fire place just turn your tv to the fire channel and voila. 🤗
Thanks for the tips!
I love the way you did your eye make-up! Very attractive and becoming on you.
I just love your videos and you great outlook on life! Thank you. 🌹
You are so welcome
Love the color of your blouse. That's your color Margaret!! Your necklace is beautiful. I always have lunch outside in my garden when the weather is warm. I enjoy my 2 mile walk every day. Thank you so much for sharing
Oh thank you!
Absolutely wonderful suggestions! Your necklace is gorgeous. Thank you Margaret. ♥
Thank you so much!
I'm grateful for the people and things that I have in my life. You've given some good advice. Feeling like a millionaire is definitely a mindset. Stay well!
Well said!
Nice article, makes me want to go to a food market and just pick out something special for dinner.
Unfortunately stuck with a small supermarket that does nothing for the imagination. Roll on spring so I can get further afield and choices are more pleasing. Still enjoyed the article.
Love markets too!
A month.
Thank you, Margaret.
Candlelight dinners, classical music, real diamonds and French perfume help me feel rich!
Thanks for sharing!!
Thinking carefully about what I want to wear each day, a very little thing....
I think this kind of mindful dressing is lovely!
Tks so much for all your podcasts very much interesting and educating!!

One word ....mosquitos! I live in the woodlands in WVa and eating outdoors in warm weather and the insects are terrible!
Thank you !It started the chinese rabbit year!
I loved these ideas
Oh my, you seem like so.much fun!! I'd 100% go on a train trip with you.
After church today the priest said we could take away the Christmas plants after mass. So I picked a beautiful pale yellow poinsettias and I felt like I had a friend traveling with me on my way home, and I felt so joyful. Your videos are helping me enjoy getting older. God bless you.
A little pot of coffee and breakfast on a tray in bed everyday.
Yes!!!
What fun ideas!
Have you tried to make kombucha? I have a scuby growing always.
Eating outside in Wisconsin means having to deal with bad weather, pollen, or plenty of flies, wasps, mosquitos, etc. Makes me feel homeless.
Then I would snuggle inside x ❤️
That would be fun to dress up in something I would not normally wear
I would feel like a millionaire is I had your accent. Its beautiful.
As a Christian, my Father is the King of everything, and the Bible tells me I am an heir with Christ. So I can ask Him for anything, and His ear is open to my prayers. Mostly, I thank Him for all He has done already for me!
❤
Pour your kombucha, or your tea into a stemmed glass, it feels more special!

I like your hair a little longer like it is now. I don't worry about money because there is not much I need to buy in retirement. Don't need work clothers don't need luches to go, don't buy alot of gas. But I do use cupons. I always have because why not? Buty it for less.
