    My wife and I just picked up a '17 CX-5. As much as I love this F-Pace I'm surprised at how much more slick and upscale the CX-5 interior looks in comparison. That's a lot of hard plastic for a lux crossover. I'd still love to get one of these, though

      Mazdas are pretty average these days. CX-5 is also worse to drive, much slower etc. Its naturally aspirated engine feels really anemic.

      Currently shopping for my wife. Looked at F Pace and I came away thinking the exact same thing. For a $70,000 optioned Jaguar, the interior is pretty hard, cold and plastic. Same showroom had Range Rover and Volvo and BOTH far outclassed the FPace. Sorry Jag, swing and a miss. Also, maybe it is just me, but I am noticing alot of these as used vehicles on lots all over the place. Wasn't this vehicle just introduced in 2017?

    My boss' spouse owns an '18 F-pace, it's been a nightmare. The "body control module" has failed 4 times, locking them out of the car, causing power windows to not open, and the sunroof to either not close or not open. The dealership has been sub-par. They're now awaiting delivery of a brand new Lincoln Aviator

    Mazda's diesel is really good. But no one can come close to Mercedes new 2 litre diesel. That engine is astonishing. It's just so smooth and quiet and quite quick. A friend managed 1600km in the new E220d on a long highway trip (about 990 miles) averaging 4.8 litres per hundred kilometers (about 49 US mpg). It's just perfect. And it IS a very clean engine. I just love it and hope diesel stays because nothing, absolutely nothing else can give that amount of range and efficiency and fill up in 5 minutes. It's better than a silly hybrid with heavy extra batteries and unnecessary complexity and has oodles of torque. Diesel is the best kind of engine for a car especially modern diesels and especially Mercs new 2 litre diesel. It should be the standard to which all other diesels are measured. It's excellent.

      I wish they would bring those model variants here to the North American market. I would like to see the C220D and C250D models brought here. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I enjoyed test driving a W212 E250 Bluetec as a courtesy car when my C300 was in for service. Didn't particularly care for the sound but the efficiency was great and I was surprised how easily it started in the cold. Torque was great too and highway fuel economy was around 40MPG for my style of driving. Not bad at all.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dashcam Dumbasses The engine in the C220d and C250d at the moment is still their older diesel (2.1 litre). It is still good and they are extremely reliable but the new engine is way more refined and economical. So far, only the new E Class has the new engine (2 litre) and it will be in the facelifted C Class next year. They also will no longer have 2 power outputs for the same engine like the current C Class in 220d and 250d form. It will just be a single 220d like the new E Class since that new engine is just so good. Even though it has less power than the 250d with the old engine, somehow it is just as quick and feels as though it pulls more strongly. Hopefully they give you guys a diesel next year. :-)

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually MAzda's new 2.2 diesel you can find in the current CX-5 is pretty stunning engine, very smooth, quiet, they got rid of all vibrations. It's also much more punchy and economical than the naturally aspirated gasoline option.

    The interior in this looks like a cheap generic Camry. I was at a JR dealer today to look at a used BMW X5 35d . . . . .which conveniently for them they couldn't find. While I was waiting for 20 minutes in the showroom, I was looking at the current year F Type. The interior surfaces appear to be a bit of an improvement, but nothing to write home about . . . and it did feel a bit "Lincolny" inside. Anyway, the dealer said he'll have the X5 35d over from the other lot next weekend. He said he also had a recently traded 2018 F Type diesel with about 18k miles on it. So he said I could try that too.
    I did try a 2016 Range Rover diesel also today. It performed well enough. During the very brief test drive, I asked the sales dweeb if it also required DEF periodically. He said no Range Rovers don't need that. After the test drive I looked under the hood and wonder of wonders there was a DEF fill cap. Clown!

    Wife and I are currently shopping for a replacement vehicle for her everyday. She has driven this car, Range Rover Velar and Sport, Volvo XC60, Lexus RX350, NX300, VW Atlas, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLE and GLC. So far the top two in the running for our budget of $60,000 USD are the Lexus RX350 and the Volvo XC60. From a quality, fit/finish and overall luxury feel, the Mercedes is certainly pretty good. However, $70K + price rules that out. The Lexus is it's usual stunningly well made and finely finished self. The biggest surprise for us is the Volvo XC60 Inscription. REALLY stunningly nice interior treatment and the outside redesign has finally brought the Volvo into the 21st century. By the way, diesel usage may be on the rise in the US, but I find that typical US buyers just aren't interested. Us included. My wife likes the "loud pedal" so much in fact, that she will probably rule out the 4-banger Volvo in favor of the 6 cylinder Lexus.

    Someone please talk about the remote start! The only way Jaguar will fix the problem with the remote start in its f-pace is if reviewers start discussing it. The only way to start the f pace remotely is using an App that curshes and makes you resign in multiple times using your email and password. Its faster to just walk and start the car yourself. The app tells you the weather outside and the miles driven but it won't successfully start the car...come on!

    I got to drive 20D AWD model when vacationing in Europe for 2 weeks. Very very disappointing. The interior is worse to what you find in a new Honda Accord. The only positive interior bit was the semi suede headliner which I really liked. Not sure if anything much improves as you step up to higher trims (the one I had was pretty basic trim), but the overall design is not even appealing so no amount of leather would change that.
    I am surprised that you didn't comment regarding the under the acceleration surge. I found that to be very concerning. The car is very anemic during the first 1-2 seconds off the line and then it feels like it get TOO much power. Trying to do a quick off the line right or left turn when navigating tight European city streets/intersection was very scary as the car felt very unnatural.

    They are very unsafe. One was speeding down my road Friday at 70 MPH hit the curve sign spun sideways and burst into flames on impact. Killing the driver I would never own one after seeing that. It burst into flames within seconds and just melted. Their were hundreds of pieces scattered everywhere it just broke apart.

      @MrDerekRobinson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You started with they're unsafe, a driver was speeding. I'm pretty sure anything you speed in has a safe limitation. It's an SUV not a corvette and clearly the problem was the driver as you mentioned who was speeding into a corner

    I'm a huge Jaguar fan, but this interior is just not on par with what I believe a Jaguar interior should be. To me a proper Jaaaaaaaaag interior is what the F-Type and current XJ have. I really hope they fix the interiors in not just this but the XE and XF as well.

    Here in the UK we have the same engines but we also get a 5.0 V8 which is called the SVR and its the super sporty model and we get a 3.0 V6 turbo diesel producing 300bhp and 700nm of torque. The 3.0 V6 petrol and the rest. 3.0 diesel can be badged as an S if you want plus it gets the dual exhausts like the 3.0 V6. The V8 gets quad exhausts

    I had one as a loaner for a couple weeks. It's fine. It's good for Jaguar's first try, but it's just ok. The next gen of the F-Pace should be pretty good if they improve on all the shortcomings of the current one

      I hate this motor and the interior in all trims on the F-Pace is meh for sure. Still, the Mazda is nowhere near as nice looking as the Jag. T No one will ever stop or look and say "nice Mazda". Simply because its not, they're everywhere.

      @@eazzii_m5408 no, I didn't say or imply that. What I said was that the car is better. You can determine it's more than just my +1 opinion, objectively, by listening to the compliments of others. Something with which you won't get as much when driving a very regular Mazda Cx-5
