I mean, for 40k you're getting a luxury suv with all wheel drive and a turbo diesel engine that gets 36mpg. For a little more you're getting it with the supercharged v6 from the f-type. And it's a really good looking vehicle. I think jag did great with these
The reason why the door isn’t locking is because you’re supposed to tap the circle in the door handle. The key icon that you're hitting is to use the key to manually lock the car.
GoldDawn91 lmao! That's exactly what it is. User error! I've done it myself, but then again I've never turned around and complained about something not working when it's my own dumb fault.

I agree about the user error, but then again it is a bit diffent to the system most other manufactor seems to be using. As I don't see an advantage of this system compared to VWs oder Mercedeses system I would go with Doug and blame Jaguar for designing it diffently with no obvious reason.
I love my Jag F-Pace, this is a fair review of it although I clearly like the car more than Doug does. I would mention that it does GREAT in ice and snow--better than any other AWD SUV I've owned to date (Acura MDX, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Nissan Murano). I love being able to switch from ice/snow mode in the winter to dynamic mode in the spring and summer. If I were living in a climate where I didn't need AWD, I'd have a Jag sportscar but this is a great compromise for the Midwest climate. ;)
You can't compare a GC to this or even an MDX to an extent. Compare something like a Q7 Quattro or X5 xDrive 40i/50i and it gets a lot more competitive. Besides, at that point might as well get a V6 Land Cruiser, it'll be much better off-road.
@@smar7931 but the F Pace does not compete with X5s or Q7s or any other large SUV so to keep it relative, id say compare to X3/4 , Q5, Macan, Range Rover Velar, RDX, NX300

And the final nail in the coffin is that the mdx will hold its value a lot better than any audi or bmw ever will and will run well over 200k miles, something you cant say about a bmw
What have you been smoking, Dougie?! It doesn't compete with the Cayenne, Q7, GLE, X6 or RR Sport at all. It's in the same segment as the Q5, Macan, GLC etc.
Despite its weaknesses I still think the F-Pace is one of the better looking luxury SUV's out there. Doug's sample wasnt the best color nor did it have the best looking wheel option but properly configured the F-Pace can be a very attractive vehicle.
haha, lamo thanks for liking it xD thought it was rather cringe comment, but the sound issues and review a average car for its class sure made this average.

I It’s also a GLC competitor not a GLE, about the same size and price, but the Jag blows the GLC away when it comes to performance unless it’s the GLC43 which costs about $20,000 more.
This isn't in the same class as the Macan. The Macan is about $10,000 more expensive at base model. You’d need to add quite a few features to reach Macan level. Not to mention the jaguar brand doesn’t carry the same prestige as Porsche.
The key not being recognized as "in the car" AS WELL as the entry system not working 100% of the time just means that it is time for a new battery in the key fob. My VW did this, a new battery fixed the problem. the security feature of the remote uses a transistor that doesn't need the battery, so the vehicle will still start.

We drove an F-pace a while back. The Type S. It was really fun to drive. Where the huge disappointment was on the interior materials used. It was really shame. A lot of plastics, and hard touch materials. I still think it's a really beautiful vehicle but I really hope they improve on the interior quality for the next re-vamp...
Doug, my dad has a Nissan Altima that was telling me the same thing about the key not being recognized. The problem may be that the battery in the remote is getting low and needs replaced. That was the issue in my circumstance and it solved the problem
I typically agree with Doug, but having driven the F-Pace myself, I found it to be far above average. It was very comfortable, it was quick, had a fantastic exhaust note, and is rated as second in its class below the Porsche Macan (not the Cayenne, because it doesn't compete with the Cayenne). He keeps comparing the car to cars that are out of its class and far out of its price range. The Range Rover Sport SVR is over $100,000 with options. A Cayenne S is well over $75k with options. Even the base model RR Sport costs more than the highest trim available on the F Pace. To answer Doug's sort of passive aggressive swipe at engine options, Jaguar is producing a 575-hp F-Pace to be released in 2018 and revealed sometime this year, or early 2018. Honestly Doug, this review was below "average".
TheDpb167 I totally agree. Kind of sounds like he has something against the car, look how he talks about the heart beat push to start lights or the ambient lights on the doors.
Being German with no particular reason to be fanboyish about Jaguar, I would argue that the brand has improved a lot over the years. The only problem that remains is the criminally unimaginative, cheap looking overall interior design. Exterior-wise the F-pace looks much more coherent and balanced than any Asian, French, Italian rivals. I like it.
I think the best thing about the F-Pace (and the Range Rover Velar that it shares a platform with) is the size for the vehicle. I think it's the perfect size for a crossover, in between compact and full size. Plenty of room and practicality while still being small enough to have car-like driving dynamics.
So, what I took away from this review is that Doug doesn't like 'Jagwars'. C'mon Doug, try again dude but this time compare the F-Pace to its actual competitors, not with vehicles in the sector above.
Advice: Make yourself a nice cup of tea and grab some Rich Tea biscuits while you're at it, consume, then go have a lie down. With any luck she will be in a more forgiving mood in the morning ;) p.s. I was wondering if the mic was made of gold, but apparently there are enough idiots in this world who would buy them. One of them you can see in this video. "Wireless transmitter" expensive? I thought walkie talkies were invented during WW2?
Not needed, he could have just put Zoom H1 in his back pocket and attach a lav mic. That's $120 total for a perfect sound, all he has to do is sync in post, which he does anyway.
Except this car has been featured in magazines as well as websites for being the most beautiful SUV and is attributed to reviving Jaguar... Try again Doug you incompetent fool
Hahaha, I remember saying something similar, the Staggggg, that was gold. Or the old one where he explains how to say Cosworth, 'Cossah', with a limb lip.
Hi Doug, great videos. Just a slight correction, if I may; the "london phone box in the wilderness" is called a red phone box, and is a British icon, just like you folks have apple pie and mickey mouse, probably why Jaguar used it. The red phone boxes have now all been phased out and so hold great nostalgia. Every town and village (a.k.a. wilderness, lol) had a red phone box in the 50's to 80's they are not just for London.
You could no be more wrong on this review about your opinion on the Jaguar. First the car looks gorgeous , way better than any of those cars you compare it to except maybe for the cayenne and the xc90. However the price of this car is way cheaper than all of the other suvs that you mentioned. To me it looks very unique and it is a win for Jaguar.
George Jordan He probably thinks everyone lives in London in UK. They’re just British telephone boxes, I don’t get the issue with it. Just stupid nit picking.
1- You weren't even pressing the indentation for the keyless lock feature 2- You shouldn't be driving if you don't know an engine start/ stop button from the infotainment button even while driving
The button is a safety while driving with snow, used in mountains, with iced roads there was no way to stop with the brakes but pressing the button stopped the car in safety. There is a whole option page fro the light and it can change the color, you can't find it in the small screen (it has a much better 12 inch one as a optional). The key logo is there to show that under there you can find the mechanical lock.
At 11:58, Doug says F-Pace type S only makes 380 HP & is nothing compared to Cayenne where you can get one with 550 HP. That Cayenne is the turbo model which starts at $125000! So, why compare the F-Pace with a car that is twice as expensive? The base model Cayenne costs about the same as F-Pace S, the F-Pace is more than 2 seconds quicker than this base Cayenne. Doug makes several erroneous comparisons through out the video comparing this to more expensive and luxurious models which doesn't make any sense. He should have instead compared it to X3, Audi Q5, GLC & Macan. Out of these, only Macan may handle as well or better than F Pace S. But even a comparably equipped Macan is more expensive.
The whole video was infuriating, particularly when the f pace is often regarded as the best looking car in class and also one of the best t drive. And also how could anyone not like the sound of that F-Type derived V6???
6:49 I actually have the 2019 F-Pace and 2020 Discovery in my possession right now, and the position of the window and side mirror controls? It's actually pretty annoying. On a sunny day the reflection of it gets in the way of your left side mirror. It's a distraction you have to get used to.
Been driving the 2017 F-Pace 35T for a few years now, I would agree with the averageness of this vehicle in its stock state. I decided to upgrade a few basic components like a wider less restrictive air intake, swapped the crank pulley with a larger one along with the idler and tensioner belt. Tuned it very lightly for better throttle response and shift points etc. and included some 1 inch spacers for a wider ride. The total cost of all these upgrades was around $2200 CAD. I was unsure about the new performance numbers so I brought it to a local tuner for dyno testing and it now sits at 440hp 430ft-lb. (up from the stock 340hp / 332ft-lb). Interior build quality aside, this is now a fantastic performance SUV, and in my opinion it could be considered a mini SVR as it creeps closer to the highest performing model (550hp V8) with a generously lighter curb weight. All of my performance parts were purchased from Mina Gallery, based out of California. Their customer service is insane, I've never been more comfortable ordering parts and asking questions than I am with these guys.
More info on your tune please. Link to pulley, tuner, parts, etc.? How many miles do you have on it? How many miles of that has been running tuned the way it is? Any engine and/or transmission issues? How is it on gas with that tune?
9:45 You need to press your finger on the little dimple to lock the door, not the key symbol. The key symbol is to show you where the keyhole is: the one you can use if the battery is dead (pop the plastic cover off)
Philippe Beaudoin I'm waiting too! Are you the guy who contacted him about it? I remember early this year sometime had one at the dealership they worked at.
16:11 - is Jaguar quality and reliability still really all that questionable? my Jag XF (last year they made the V8) is will reach 5 years old this summer and it's been pretty much perfect. other than service and general brake wear and tear, literally only thing that broke was a coolant tank leak... putting total repair costs at less than $1500 USD. I know that's the reputation from the 80s through the 00s but the few people I know with early-mid '10s XJs and XFs pretty much have no problems. dunno about F-Types or older XKs tho haha.

McDrive?
This car is just like me
Just about Average
But I dont look good tho
It doesn't look good either
Krzysztof Dolecki Same here
It's gorgeous, what are you talking about Spencer?
In a segment of ugly porkers, it's about as nice looking as they get I guess - which really isn't saying a lot.
Krzysztof Dolecki lol same
I typically agree with Doug, but having driven the F-Pace myself, I found it to be far above average.
Was behind one the other day. It sounds great!
Jaguar didnt pay doug enough
THANK YOU!
I like it.
Probably the Key isn't recognizing or locking the doors due to low power cells in the remote, just change the batteries of the remote duhhh
Doug's the type of guy to splice audio of him talking over video of him talking.
I think the best thing about the F-Pace (and the Range Rover Velar that it shares a platform with) is the size for the vehicle. I think it's the perfect size for a crossover, in between compact and full size. Plenty of room and practicality while still being small enough to have car-like driving dynamics.
Doug is the type of guy who buys the store brand cereal even when the name brand is on sale.
You were tapping the wrong area on the door handle to lock it........
With any luck she will be in a more forgiving mood in the morning ;)
p.s. FYI, it's called the English language, if you don't like it, stop butchering it and go develop one of your own.
Me:Daddy doug how was my performance on the bed?
DD: *AVERAGE*
eeshunique *it was about average*
But your belly button looks kind of quirky
Doug the type of guy that drys his car with an hairdryer
Nembokid L
drys an hairdryer
u got me giggling
Yohji Nagasaki ;)
Chamois, *then* a hairdryer. Get it straight, Nembo.
This SUV looks great! 6? More like 9/10.
Eh. Id say its average
It's competition is X3, Q5, GLC and Macan. Do not compare it to those bigger SUVs
figa132 exactly. Cayenne, gle x6 etc are another class
5:21 Oh, Doug... took me 2 minutes playing with the infotainment system to figure out how to change the ambient lighting colour AND intensity on an XE courtesy car I received when my car was in for its annual service.
chrwl007 how?
Doug the type of guy who would like to speak to your manager
Best looking SUV in the market place
Erik H. Ugly
I love you Doug.
Edit: Advance congratulations on 1million subscribers.
take a shot of 19p Tesco brand cola every time you hear doug say "average" you will find your self on the floor bleeding out cheap cola by the end most likely.
ApocalypseBarking waaaaay another Brit
He prounced it correctly for the US. Now get back to playing with your Zee-X spectrum
Doug's the type of guy that gives his girlfriend a Doug score.
MrAphex117 hahahahahah
Daaamn that's a good one!!!! XD
importance and handling - 0
You know it's ok to like other boys, we don't judge you, we're the all accepting internet :D BUT! Just because you have a crush on his dreamy demeanor doesn't mean you need to be redundant.
I'm sure she is consoled everytime he reminds her that the list is still growing. :P
I drive one of these for work, you'll be surprised how many looks and thumbs up you get from people. I think it's one of the best looking SUVs ever
Doug DeTuro
7 fucking hundred dollars for a microphone. I bought mine for $1, its plugged into gopro and the sound is about average! But not bad.
Adam Vulture it's not the microphone, it's a wireless transmitter and these are stupidly expensive.
I was wondering if the mic was made of gold, but apparently there are enough idiots in this world who would buy them. One of them you can see in this video.
"Wireless transmitter" expensive? I thought walkie talkies were invented during WW2?
You've heard the audio quality of walkie talkies right?
Not needed, he could have just put Zoom H1 in his back pocket and attach a lav mic. That's $120 total for a perfect sound, all he has to do is sync in post, which he does anyway.
+Petar yup. no reason for wireless mics anymore with compact recorders.
Except this car has been featured in magazines as well as websites for being the most beautiful SUV and is attributed to reviving Jaguar... Try again Doug you incompetent fool
F-PACE is the most beautiful SUV (all round from front to rare) in history, ever made!>> love it or hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a Jaggggggg (in jeremy clarkson voice)
Hahaha, I remember saying something similar, the Staggggg, that was gold. Or the old one where he explains how to say Cosworth, 'Cossah', with a limb lip.
"It's about Average" is the new Bumper to Bumper
The starter button pulse, matches the heart beat of you guessed it, a Jaguar cat!
Hi Doug,
great videos.
I think that our Doug is what of those people that you don't try and confuse with facts, you just tell him what he wants to hear.
"London phone booth but it's not in London"
It's almost like they're not *London* phone booths Doug.
George Jordan He probably thinks everyone lives in London in UK. They’re just British telephone boxes, I don’t get the issue with it. Just stupid nit picking.
How about calling it a red telephone box instead of a London telephone box, since they were all red and weren't all in London.
1- You weren't even pressing the indentation for the keyless lock feature
2- You shouldn't be driving if you don't know an engine start/ stop button from the infotainment button even while driving
It's in a stupid place. That was the only point. And it's valid.
And also how could anyone not like the sound of that F-Type derived V6???
agreed , F pace is the best looking car in class, way better looking than the volvo xc90
Doug the type of guy to mention his quirks and features on grinder... Tinder?
Set playback speed to 0.5x to get Doug drunk
Alex probably more like stoned doug
To me, sounds a lot like Bill Cosby at 0.5x (especially around the 10:00 mark)...but without the abuse accusations.
hahaha
Jonathan Douglas LMAO!!!
HAHA!!! I did this and it's hilarious!
6:49
I actually have the 2019 F-Pace and 2020 Discovery in my possession right now, and the position of the window and side mirror controls? It's actually pretty annoying. On a sunny day the reflection of it gets in the way of your left side mirror. It's a distraction you have to get used to.
When Doug was a kid his mum said every night to him: "Come on, go to sleep. Enough bashing the brands' reputation and quirks today!"
That voice, those clothes....the haircut, hilarious!
Steven G - He even farts in another video...eww!
How the fuck did you spot the logo in the taillight
Stevie P daddy doug's eyes doesn't miss anything
😂😂😂
This video is...about average.
Doug the type of guy to put a picture of a forest as his Facebook profile picture.
If you say AVERAGE more damn time...
9:45 You need to press your finger on the little dimple to lock the door, not the key symbol.
The key symbol is to show you where the keyhole is: the one you can use if the battery is dead (pop the plastic cover off)
When will you upload the Spyker C8 review???
Philippe Beaudoin I'm waiting too! Are you the guy who contacted him about it? I remember early this year sometime had one at the dealership they worked at.
Joseluis0015 I didn’t contact him about it but I remember seeing on his instagram a photo of it and he said something like “the king of quirks”
Jaguar is rising
I had a 1995 xj6 and it was reliable and we'll put together. After the 93 model years they've been solid.
i just come here everyday, not to see the videos, but to read "Doug the type of guy" jokes
JLR Product Specialist here. You have to touch the circular divot to unlock the door. The key logo is telling you where to insert the manual key if need be.
