I have the Chequered Flag and the highest mpg I have achieved is 75mpg! We brought it with us when we moved to France last year and it has been impeccable. Servicing is costly but on par with other luxury brands.
Thanks to you I bought a 2008 Cayenne v6 and I really liked the car. I was thinking to buy a L322 but I am living in Amsterdam and believe me it is so difficult to find a proper mechanic in here so I trusted your comments and bought the Porsche. I have just bought a 17 plate F Pace 3.0l d Sport in many ways due to your review - it has the red and black leather interior with a pale silver paint job - wouldn't have chosen those colours but getting a 3.0l diesel was quite hard near to us. No issues with the door panels!
I'm in my 30's and owned an fpace for 4 years, just ordered a factory build of the facelift. As a family man it's been perfect for lugging, commuting, long distance. Great SUV if you need a workhorse. My only gripe is crappy infotainment and Bluetooth connection. In 4 yra of ownership and 27k miles just needed to replace an outer CV Boot on the nearside front.
I have never really liked SUV's in general, but this review has mellowed my opinion. A great looking vehicle and nothing like a Chelsea tractor - far more class.
Brilliant review as always .. succinct without any annoying music and "production" nonsense ...just what most people want in my opinion . The F pace is one of the best designs of any car of recent years .. it just works in every way .
Great Video as always Matt! We have had our F Pace 2.0d 4 years now and only had two issues! Rear camera replaced under warranty twice and prematurely corroded brake discs. The engine is a little gutless and the gear change can be a little hesitant off the line. However the ride and comfort over long trips is sublime. I spend 10 hours behind the wheel driving back from Cornwall last week and never felt tired once!
You could base it on the lust factor- how you feel when you open the garage door, or do you look back at it as you lock it up. Or the smug factor- how clever am I for going out in the left side of the field and beating the pack..........
Always felt like the Jaguar crossovers and SUVs are for people who actually are classy, not the swathes of qashquais and jukes, and not for drug dealers in Audi Qs or BMW X models. Great review Matt!

We have a 3.0 litre V6 Diesel Portfolio here in New Zealand. Had it 5years and love it. It has the driver side door card rattle as well. They must of had the apprentice working on that side of the assembly plant in 2016.
Seriously considering one of these when it's time to chop the Disco Sport in in a couple of years. I've definitely got the JLR bug. I just can't get excited about the equivalent Merc/Audi/BMW offerings. Great video as usual Matt.
I have an F-Pace 3.0d S with the the red & black leather interior, it was the reason I bought it lol, fantastic car. Had it nearly 3 years and always great fun to drive!
Another great review. My current XJ Portfolio with the 3ltr diesel is my 6th Jag and I love it. I think the F Pace will be my 7th Jag but it will have to be the 3ltr diesel Portfolio, performance, luxury and economy in a car that is sooo much better to look at than the BMW or Audi alternatives.

I was given an F-Pace 2.0D as a hire car by a third party's while my 530d xdrive tourer was being repaired. Could not get on with it at all, engine seemed noisy, rough and not particularly quick (although i'm sure the 3.0 would be better) but my biggest issue was the suspension, it felt gittery and bouncy and never seemed to settle into a comfortable rhythm - could not wait to give it back
@@potjhm1 yes i am sure the engine difference is comparisons between a 4 cylinder and a straight six, i tried a 520d before i got my 530d and did not like the 520 engine much, it was the poor ride quality that surprised me the most on the F-Pace

I don't know what it is with other manufacturers but Jag have just managed to pull the design of this car off. It's just right. The X5, Q7, Cayenne and others all look just a little bit awkward in their styling. It's a super handsome car and looks amazing in that dark blue colour.

Plenty of good looking European SUV's F Pace, Q7, Q8, GLE, XC90, Cayenne, Macan, Stelvio, Levante, X5, Toureg etc. Trouble you have is that American SUVs are in general terrible and super ugly. Even the new Jeep Grand Cherokee looks like it's tried to take a bit from all the European SUV's and they really blew it with the new Bronco. That should have been brilliant but they've done an awful job with that when it looked so good in concept.
My in-laws had the 3.0d V6, and it was brilliant. Fast, silky smooth and had an impressive range. A GT for the 21st century. Quite suprised you were happy with the interior quality above the waist. Personally thought it was shocking in my XE and the F-pace even more so when it costs so much more. bar the leather on the seats, the rest of the plastics were almost Ford grade all over. Everything felt a little tinny and hollow. I suppose you did point some of them out though! KNACK KNACK
Agree utterly shambolic plastics and switches (steering wheel aside) I went to a vag saloon from a jag. For the record a boggo Golf 7 is leagues ahead of this for quality inside. Shame as I have a soft spot for jag.
I’m A car dealer and petrol head. I see these daily. Both in my estate I live and on the road as a cyclist. It’s a nice ‘thing’. A nice ‘suv’. A great British job. Just a shame the SUV is so hard to swallow on one child and being a former Lotus owner
I have one. Have seen 55mpg on the motorway. Engine a bit loud when pushed hard but very quiet in normal cruise mode, and roadholding/steering excellent for a 4WD.
Another great review, love this channel and always look forward to coming back here. I’m not surprised your channel is growing at quite a steady pace, keep up the great work :)
In the last decade or so this is the equation to car brand success. SUV = Immense popularity = Saved the brand = loads of extra cash on top! This can be good (eg this) and bad (eg juke
I've owned 10 cars in almost 30 years: 6 sedans/saloons, 2 coupés and 2 cabriolets. Therefore I'm not an SUV guy, but I watch and value a quality review nonetheless 👍.
My xf rsport is 2017. Not a bit of bother and sips fule. Really think jaguar are on the up, and a new boss. Great video asual 👍. Got mine with 26 thousand on the clock. Like the man says, look after it and the rest will take care of itself.
Hey, Matt, Great review as always! Thank you for putting fuel economy conversion on screen! As for the car ratings, it might be a nice addition to summarize the car you've reviewed. I'm trying to think of something unique, but am failing to do so. I feel like the Doug's rating system is very good and thorough. If I were to look for a car, I would look for the best balance of fuel economy, comfort, practicality (can I go on a ski trip or on a summer vacation with 3-4 other people), simple tech (I hate huge screens like in Teslas or new Mercedes cars, I just use the navigation and bluetooth music streaming... Also the controls that I can adjust while looking at the road - buttons, dials, not the futuristic stuff like in Golf 8, there is only 1 button in that car and others are some touch sensitive sliders and touch screens...) - maybe that part can be better specified. You might call it technology user experience :) Also, you must add the cupholder rating :) I feel like if you made a chart with all cars that it would be way more useful than Doug's because you review cars that most people are looking for.
Love your reviews Matt. Relaxed, informative, honest and highly amusing. To be honest I would not get into a scoring system. They have their places but would make your reviews too impersonal. Giving your honest impressions (warts and all) of each car is why your channel is so popular. Keep up the good work.
I did a test drive in the F-pace, quite liked it - just the dealer thought I'd be impressed with the poke. Not really though, maybe if they had done the 3 liter. But not this one. Also the suspension I thought kinda harsh. Yes probably one of the best SUVs nowadays, but gimme an X350... any day. Grace, space and pace. This one just doesn't cut it for me in the grace (suspension) and pace (.... uggh) departments.
Thanks Matt, we got our 2017 Portfolio 2-0 AWD a couple of months back and we love it, I couldn’t wait for to see what you thought. Ours has just got 40k miles on the clock and bought it from Jaguar main dealer here in York. We also took out the extra warranty.
Another great video! Love this car as well. Related to your rating system you could give cars an overall A-F grade or do three pros and cons at the end. Don't make it too much because your delivery style is top notch.
Interesting, here in Canada used F-Pace are significantly more expensive than disco sport for the same model year. Also the only available engine on the disco is the petrol 2l turbo while Jags have both petrol and diesel engines available
I don’t know what it is, but there is something just ‘pleasant’ about JLR interiors. They’re not austere like Audi, and BMW sometimes are, they’re not overly blingy or tacky like some Mercedes interiors, and they’re simpler than most Lexus interiors. They’re definitely improving in build quality as well. The build quality in the 2016 Discovery Sport we had made a Year 7’s DT project look well made. Every single component squeaked, rattled or moved when you touched in, and the many materials felt cheap as well. The same went for all of the JLR courtesy cars we had at the time as well. Now though, my dad has a Jag iPace and it’s in a different league, and actually feels very well built, while retaining the aforementioned ‘pleasantness’. Great video Matt
My mum bought one new. Had 1 year and got BMW X3 as could not stand gearbox, cabin noise and road noise. For test I used DB on to compare and bmw at 60mph on same road was 8db quieter which is huge. Seats were uncomfortable as well. Good job had on pcp as depreciation is huge.
I have a soft spot for these too, albeit in 3.0d form. Rattle from the door card is quite possibly the window regulator cables that have broken free of their fittings - JLR build quality carry over from XF one assumes :l Please don't start scoring the cars, the spoken word works just fine! Cheers, Chris
yeh go for a rating score you could use your high peak logo where they sit in terms of , one side of the mountain for comfort and driveability and the other side for running costs and value for money. I love these reviews , the best on the net. Thanks Matt.
I have the P300 and it is honestly the best car I have had. No reliability issues but bit steep on fuel but the engine performance and noise is the pay off. Definitely another one when the time comes to change.
WIsh there was a XE based wagon similar to the 2023 F-Pace. The F-Pace handles very well FOR AN SUV, but you can still feel it is top heavy and the suspension has to be very stiff to control the weight.
Be as different as possible from those ghastly American TH-cam channels. You have a very distinctive and winning style, which is why people like your vids so much.
Hi Matt, I was really waiting for your review on F-Pace. You are always very neutral and honest that I must appreciate. Just bought a 2.5yrs old 3.0d S from Guy Salmon Stockport (poor experienc) a month back and completely agree with the cheap plastic used all around interior that makes annoying rattles all the time. Also some juddering a d vibration on the motorway speeds. Not really impressed so far to be honest. Booked an inspection with main dealer already. Any advice here on how to deal with these issues?
Great review as always. Each time I watch one of your videos, I immediately feel like getting one of the cars...except the Chinese Rover from the other day
Really pleased Jaguars are finally coming of age Had an XJ4.0 a few years into Ford ownership and it was the first V8 Jag did and it was an early CanBus car too It was absolutely lovely when it worked properly Unfortunately that was rare...very rare Rank based on Driveway appeal, just like you said in the video
I was discussing which SUV I'd have walking through the garden centre car park the other day....Definitely be a F-pace/E-pace if I could afford one. My cousin has a 16 plate Land Rover diesel which is causing her nothing but pain due to engine management issues.
4:15 im glad you mentioned that rattles and creaks are common on Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. I have a pretty new XE R-Sport, and there's one or two rattles coming from somewhere within the cab that no garage has been able to pinpoint and its been driving me insane. I thought I was the only one hearing it
Great review. This is one of my favourite Jaags, at the moment, it's got enough space for John Prescott and Tyson Fury to have good scrap🥊. Matt, nice shorts😜
The misses had her heart set on one, so despite my concerns about JLR as a whole, we got a 17 plate r-sport 2l diesel. It was hard to find the colour and spec for our budget as they hold their value so well but it is a lovely motor. I got the engine carbon cleaned as it wasn't quite producing the mpg I had seen on the forums. It is better now but I may get it remapped (the great handling deserves a little more performance but I didn't win the tax/ insurance/ fuel cost argument for a V6!) I only wish the review had come out sooner and I would have canned the BMW X3 option straight away! Great review once again Matt! Friendly Adblue tip - I would say buy one of those expensive Jag Adblue bottles, use it, cut the bottom out and then use that to funnel a bigger container of Adblue in when it is required. I believe other nozzle attachments are available too...😉
Thx Matt for your review. I like the exterior design, but the interior of that generation F Pace feels a bit plasticky & not as good as the competition. HOWEVER, the 2021 model interior is much more upmarket and addresses any of the styling criticisms of the previous model. I was fortunate enough to throw a few of these around on a frozen lake at a Jaguar Ice Driving experience in far northern Sweden. Did the same in a RR Sport & F Type V6 & SC V8 early 2017. Soooooo mugh fun!!
"High Peak Score" would be a great name for the overall rating system 😎

When you started knocking on your door at 4.20 is exactly what I do on most cars I drive!! 😄😄
I'd be interested to see a review comparing the 'E Pace' and the LR 'Evoque'. 🤔😀
Both junk. A standard hatchback car is better
I've recently bought a 4yr old 3.0S F Pace and love it to bits.
Pleased to hear it
Another great review, love this channel and always look forward to coming back here. I’m not surprised your channel is growing at quite a steady pace, keep up the great work :)
Thank you for the support
In the last decade or so this is the equation to car brand success.
SUV = Immense popularity = Saved the brand = loads of extra cash on top!
This can be good (eg this) and bad (eg juke
Thats right. Love them or loathe them, they are profitable
Pleased to hear it. Hope it continues
You might call it technology user experience :)
Also, you must add the cupholder rating :)
I feel like if you made a chart with all cars that it would be way more useful than Doug's because you review cars that most people are looking for.
Thanks for the help. I need to put some thought into this so its more relevant for potential buyers
Totally Agree Re X350! They're totally unrelated, not even in same class!!
Thanks Matt, we got our 2017 Portfolio 2-0 AWD a couple of months back and we love it, I couldn’t wait for to see what you thought. Ours has just got 40k miles on the clock and bought it from Jaguar main dealer here in York. We also took out the extra warranty.
Good choice. Enjoy it. I really enjoyed using this one
I would not worry about ratings. Just your honest opinion is enough. Just keep doing what you have been. It works.
So enjoyable watching your reviews. I am considering either an Audi Q5 or the F Pace... hmmm
Another great video! Love this car as well. Related to your rating system you could give cars an overall A-F grade or do three pros and cons at the end. Don't make it too much because your delivery style is top notch.
I agree with you about "every brand has issues. I like the F Pace a very nice care and looks really good.
I'm glad you bring into ( my ) attention car models I knew about, but never considered one, until now.
Great video as always Matt, thank you once again for your efforts 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
My pleasure!
About time you did the F-Pace! Great video! Would be interesting to see you review the 3.0D S F-Pace, which is a lot better equipped.
Sorry Matt, when you were telling us how quiet the car was I couldn't hear you for the road noise, could you tell us again please?...:)
Interesting, here in Canada used F-Pace are significantly more expensive than disco sport for the same model year. Also the only available engine on the disco is the petrol 2l turbo while Jags have both petrol and diesel engines available
Thanks for the mpg to L/100km conversion matt🤜🏻🤛🏻
I’ll try and do it in every video
Rattle from the door card is quite possibly the window regulator cables that have broken free of their fittings - JLR build quality carry over from XF one assumes :l
Please don't start scoring the cars, the spoken word works just fine!
Cheers,
Chris
Fair enough. Cheers
Nice looking against the the lovely scenery of the peak district 👌
Have been watching your videos for a while now. Really appreciate the captions for the L/100km conversion! Thanks!
I wouldn't bother scoring them matt. What you do is just fine as it is. People can make up their mind based on that.
yeh go for a rating score you could use your high peak logo where they sit in terms of , one side of the mountain for comfort and driveability and the other side for running costs and value for money. I love these reviews , the best on the net. Thanks Matt.
Good idea! Thanks for watching
I’ve always liked the design of the F-pace, when I win the Euros I’m going to buy the SVR variant🤩🤩
Another well-informed review, I've never really considered an F Pace before, but worth looking at.
Lovely video, as usual, Matt. I do wish cars had larger windows nowadays. So claustrophobic in the back.
Its quite light in the back of this one. The glass roof helps
Haha thanks!
Absolutely love these cars. Great review once again. Keep up the great work.
Brilliant video as always advertisements doing my head in
Another great and useful video matt! Thank you for the great content!
Great review as always. Each time I watch one of your videos, I immediately feel like getting one of the cars...except the Chinese Rover from the other day
Hahaha fair enough! Thanks for watching
Really pleased Jaguars are finally coming of age
Had an XJ4.0 a few years into Ford ownership and it was the first V8 Jag did and it was an early CanBus car too
It was absolutely lovely when it worked properly
Unfortunately that was rare...very rare
Rank based on Driveway appeal, just like you said in the video
I believe other nozzle attachments are available too...😉
Pleased to hear it. I filled this with AdBlue and it took 15 litres!
