  • 1997 Giant ATX 880. Cleaned and restored…salvaged too. I call these cash cow bikes. Decent frame that can be sold with plenty of milk. Was Equipped with XTR M952 bits that the previous owner had probably transferred from another bike

All that XTR for 50 euros, what a find! Good rebuild and I hope you’re planning something special with the harvested parts.

just the xtr parts are worth 100eur, you also got avid high end levers, rf cranks, total steal

Awesome vid. I wanted to ask what bottom bracket type these old Giant's have? I renovated a Giant Chicago and installed a JIS compatible crank set but after a year the left crank arm constantly keeps loosening. Is it actually an IOS square taper?

I have never owned a giant, but if i did i would desire a wishbone stay.i like the frame

Frame is definately blingy. Hopefully I’ve found someone I know who will take it

@@atboy4342 for me, unless it an old GT or a rocky mountain blizzard I prefer a wishbone stay. I'm glad the frame may have a swell home. cheers !

what oil do you use to restore the plastic shine, something universal or plastic specific?

Linseed oil. Not great on rubber though. I’ve used other plastic revival products used for interior of cars. All good, but linseed leaves a matt finish

Dont mind the steel chainrings they're sturdy! And did you rebuild those forks? I could see those turning into a thing for you...
