I like how it tried to innovate the fighting formula specifically towards casuals. That yakuza-like open world they introduced here was such a great idea and it fits perfectly with the vibe of the game. It might not be perfect but it's a hell of a step up from previous fighting games, i'll give them huge credit for that one.

As a longtime SF player, I think the single player mode is brilliant - specifically, it takes the things that make learning a fighting game daunting (…grinding, gradually increasing skills, losing a lot) and discouraging to new players and wraps it up in this fun little harmless cute package. Learning any established fighting game involves losing to players a lot, which is discouraging and demoralizing, but this basically replicates the experience without the moral injury. Which makes it funny to me that longtime fans are hating on it.

I'm spending more time in World Tour. I'm enjoying every seconds of going around searching for and learning from the Masters while leveling up. I've used Ken's style on Ryu when I first encountered him landing a Chun Li's level 2 Super Art on him. This was a great addition to the regular Arcade and online features traditionally in fighting games.

World Tour Mode is the reason I picked up this game. It reminds me of a better version of Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign mode and Tekken 3-4 Tekken Force. I am looking forward to the addition of DLC characters to the mode. Learning Akuma's moves is going to be so much fun.

Its crazy how spot on this is. As a casual player that enjoys fighting games but is no good due to how technical it can be, this is the first fighting game where it really teaches how to be technical without it being overly complicated. I'm having a lot of fun especially online which is a first for a fighting game

I've always found myself downloading fighting games (usually Mortal Kombat) and playing them for a bit but getting to a point where I didnt feel like I could get better. A lot of comments like yours are making me want to try SF6 because it seems good for casual players who dabble in fighting games from time to time, which then helps them learn to then go into online

@@Ziggz47 I’ve been playing it and honestly with the modern controls, I’m enjoying it a lot more than I expected. I’d only play mortal kombat because when it came to combos or even pulling off special moves, mk was much more easier to pull them off compared to SF and Tekken.

I think what's great about World Tour mode is that it doesn't just teach you fighting game fundamentals. It also teaches you the fighting game mindset. The masters you train under, the characters of Street Fighter 6, all fight because they enjoy fighting. Winning is secondary. They enjoy the act of fighting itself first and foremost. Most of the characters are friendly or on good terms with one another. Ken and Guille are literally family. Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly are practically neighbors. They fight one another because they simply enjoy fighting and grinding themselves to get even stronger. Almost all of them have the biggest smiles on their faces as they fight, and they actively support your created character as they train them. The world of Street Fighter 6 as presented through World Tour is basically a representation of the FGC, with the SF playable rosters being the top players of their world.

I can second your statement about experience in one carrying over to another. I’ve been playing Guilty Gear Xrd and Strive for a while, and those games (alongside BlazBlue) make up almost the entirety of my fighting game experience. Like half of the special moves in those require quarter-circle inputs to trigger, and it turns out that it seems like all of Street Fighter 6’s special moves are quarter-circle turns. Made things much easier on me since I was already very experienced with that lol

Always had a ton of appreciation for them and loved playing them my whole life but aside from smash I never seriously played any of them competitively. Street Figther 6 is the first time I’ve been hooked on just grinding ranked matches in a traditional fighter and thanks to modern controls and world tour doing a great job at teaching a lot of core mechanics I feel like I was eased into things without much intimidation. I currently have a Silver Kimberly which I know is nothing special but I’m still just having a blast playing every day when I can learning new combos. I have always wanted to get into gaming but the technology was never there when I grew up fast-forward to 2023 and Sony is coming out with an accessibility controller For people like me. So in July of this year I bought my first consul, which was the PlayStation five and I have been addicted ever since. What year for gaming especially for someone who’s new to gaming in general. All of this is to say that I’m rapidly discovering that fighting genre is probably, my favorite genre to play. I have finished injustice and injustice 2 and have bought Mortal Kombat one and I’m about to buy streetfighter six and pre-order tekken 8. I love this genre so much along with survival horror. I loved SF2 back in the arcades and genesis days, but missed out on the PlayStation era greats (Capcom vs. SNK 2 is maybe my favorite fighting game I've played?) because I was on Xbox. Got back into the series with 4 and gave loved every minute of it. SF4 was THE bro night game in the 360 era alongside NHL.
I love seeing what Capcom is doing with SF6. The game plays as tight and technical as ever, but between World Tour mode and modern controls, they've done a great job of broadening the appeal without compromising gameplay. My cousin's wife who "played some Tekken back in the day" whipped my ass using Modern Controls, and I was pulling out all the stops. That's when I knew this was something special.
Bonus points for essentially making a new Final Fight INSIDE a Street Fighter game.
So glad to hear non-hardcore fighting game players enjoying this so much!
Keep up the great work Jake. You continue to be one of my favorite gaming channels.

I loved fighting games as a kid. I'm 37, so they were big when I was young. I played several MK games, beginning with the first, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III ended up as my favorite at that time. I also had Street Fighter 2 Turbo which I played a ton of. Always fun using special abilities of each character. But now, I'm even less than casual. Mortal Kombat X on PS3 made me rage so much that I decided fighting games are no longer for me. I recently played the SF6 demo and I enjoyed it, but it is hard for me to pick up and understand since my last SF was back in the SNES era. Like you, I used modern controls for a while and ultimately went to classic so I could feel more responsible for what I'm doing. Based on your footage, you're way better than me now. Maybe because you've played a lot more than I have or maybe it just clicks with your brain a lot better than it does with mine. I'm sure both reasons are true, but I think you also pick it up easier than I do now.
Overall, I think it's a cool game. I'd love to play more than what the demo had to offer, but I'm too casual about it to feel comfortable with buying the full game. Maybe in a couple years.

I did try to get good and dedicate to learning more about fighting games when Injustice came out and honestly it was very fun. However, I always noticed Street Fighter and was very familiar with the characters. So when SF4 came out on mobile, I tried it out and it was cool but it seemed a bit more challenging than Injustice, especially since it was a mobile game with limited controls. All that said, I was really drawn in to SF6 and I only took notice of it about a week before release. I had to buy it and I’m really happy with it so far. The new wave of being in a current society world, the iconic OGs being mentors you can grow to meet and know, mastering the styles you like, and learning how to use the controls assisted then grow to not use it so you can actually get better. Plus creating a character was a smart move for the story. My buddy and I already past lvl 60 and we’ve been practicing, fighting each other, and I’m inching into online. I main Ryu and i think they did a fantastic update to him and i'm really excited to see what they to Sakura eventually . as for the new entries I really like Marissa i've never been a fan of the bigger characters but she has an awesome rush mechanic to her. Great channel here:)

I’m also new to SF, couldn’t really get into the other ones (also visually looked weird to me). This one though feels so much more accessible and way more polished. The character design is impeccable, you can tell a lot of love went into it. I love that they’re using the RE engine, looks great. Similar to DMC5, Capcom is killing it these days.

I’m old school fgc. Now I’m old and just a casual family man. But I’m so happy that SF6 is seemingly back to Capcom golden years. Nice to see lots of new people finding Street Fighter. That’s how the community grows. Can’t wait to watch the tournaments.
I haven’t settled on a main but I’m having tons of fun with Marisa because of so satisfying punish combos and BIG damage. Juri, that feng shui engine make combos so fun. Jamie, rekka play style reminds me of my old mains Yang and Fei Long. I’m gonna try Cammy next, she seems so much more fun than her SF4/5 counterparts.

Insane Jake, we have the exact same experience with fighting games. Soul Calibur was the best I ever got at fighting games and I actually got pretty good (Ivy main), but everything else was always like, “yeah I’d like to be good, but meh.”

I’m actually extremely satisfied with SF6. I’m usually not a full price spender on games anymore due to how many there are, but SF6 is worth it. Especially since it’s a $60 tag and not $70. My favorite part about the game is adding something like world tour, it makes me think about how SOR4 integrated battle mode into the game and it really works because the characters fight in a style that can be comparable to say a SF to some degree. Tekken Force which started in tekken 3 comes to mind as well, I feel it’s always a plus to have some extras to be more than just a “fighting game”.

I went in to this game having not played much of the street fighter series since SF Alpha 2 came out on Sega Saturn.
SF 6 looks and feels like the street fighter game that is made for long time fans of the series, as well as being appealing enough to attract new players .
SF6 is going to remembered to many as the fighting game that turned them on to fighting games.

I have mostly the same story Jake, and i have had such a blast with SF6 in a way that no other fighting game has. It honestly almost feels like Marvel Snap to me.. in a weird way. Maybe this SF is slightly slower paced?

I've also been dealing with the deluge of games right now, but have been doing world tour mode in order to get my hands around it. i was very competitive with SF3 and Alpha, but dropped off hard with 4 and 5. This one feels like it's pulling me back in. But Diablo and Tears are still eating up most of my free time.

I played fighting games very casually for years and finally got into them more seriously with Street Fighter 5. It's great seeing more people get their hands dirty in Street Fighter 6. Maybe you'll also go from having no arcade sticks to owning 3 of them with this game like I did with 5. Even with a lot of experience with 5, I'm having a tough time wrestling with managing SF6's drive meter in ranked play but it still has been a lot of fun.
Also "sick ass or cool boobs" absolutely killed me. Definitely working those into the rotation of compliments towards the wife.

Playing MK and injustice for their high production campaigns is something I've always done and then I'd always let Ai do the tower/ multiverse stuff for me so i can get cool cosmetics because doing them made me feel bad at games but in a bad way. SF6 so far especially world tour I couldn't have asked for a better introduction and tutorial, there's enough in modern to make you experience the movesets without making you too good that if you came up against someone good with classic, they'd kick your ass

Street Fighter 6 came at a good time for me, I had recently purchased King of Fighters XV and playing with the CPU for about 2 months now.
I'd do the Trials and practice at least 1 hours every day and I was barely scratching the surface on all the mechanics and how the characters I had picked played.
I'm glad to say that I found SF6 a lot easier to get into and equally as fun. I'm a sucker for fighting games but I've always sucked at them and used to get a lot more frustrated with them when I was younger. Now I'm pushing 26 years and I can finally appreciate the genre and how well these modern games are put together.
I hope we can be blessed with more great fighting games and that Capcom keeps delivering.

  • @Jabroni_14
    @Jabroni_14 ปีที่แล้ว

I think you should try out the online mutiplayer more, this genres mechanics are designed around psychological mind games, mental stack and execution, so naturally an ai can't actually "play" a fighting game so it feels completly different from something like a shooter since a lot of that genres mechanics actually work really well in both a single player and multiplayer context.
Also world tour modes ai and mini games actually prepare you for multiplayer unlike 99% of fighting games single player modes(looking at you mk)
The cpu imitates certain strategies you usually never see offline, and the mini games also teach concepts like whiff punishing, motion inputs, combo execution and parries etc....

Recently, I started catching up on PS4, so the first of the interesting games I launched was Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat X. For a casual player, re-entering Tekken was not that difficult, knowing Hwoarang, my main character from previous games, quite well. In MKX, I mastered the basics of each character pretty quickly to complete a tower with each and eventually move on to MK11. And here it starts to be a bit overwhelming, because when I mastered the basic Kung Lao combo in MKX, so in MK11 I repeat a different, similar combo over and over again, it comes out much harder for me in training, not to mention bringing it out in a proper fight. The level of accessibility of the new MK has drastically increased to the level of more tournament players. I hope that the newest MK1 will not push so much in this direction. And abaut Street Fighter to catch up with Sfvi I need to know sfv first

I know I really like Street Fighter for its characters but couldn't really jump in as a casual who hasn't played much fighting games outside NetherRealm, cause the six button scheme is extremely complicated to me and I don't have good timing to try and nail the special moves and supers. I am honestly very thankful for Capcom making it more accessible for folks like me who struggle with the classic six button controls.
