Looking forward to Akuma turning up in world tour. I hope they have him selling fruit like the old times!

Seeing as you're a big SF lore guy, I'm curious what are your thoughts on Lily's story?
I'm really intrigued by it. Dhalsim senses an evil presence and investigates, but it turns out to be Lily. He thought he sensed the Satsui no Hadou, but then figures he was just mistaken.
Then, in WT mode during your Master quest with Lily, at one point she mentions a nightmare she had. It was the future, and her face looked scary and her wind spirit was talking to her in a deep, evil voice. Or something like that.
    Is the wind spirit evil?!

I haven't done her Mastery yet so I didn't know about her dream but yeah they were definitely setting up some stuff with Lily with her spirit and the SnH. I don't know if they'll fully make her evil/possessed but I'm interested in seeing where they go with it!

@@scotiaviii makes me wonder just how far forward into the narrative future DLC will move the story.
Hopefully it goes some way to answer your complaint about the open-ended and inconclusive nature of SF6's World Tour ending. (Which I agree with)

the chapters having the actual menu transitions is really smart, one thing i found odd is the volume of your mic. it felt very low on volume but i don't really know if its my headphones being bad or the volume of your mic being actually low. a pretty great video anyways

The Nayshall opponents only hurts more if you didn't enhance and update your equipment. By the time I reached Nayshall I have 600 to 700 defense and at least the 2nd life bar, so most bosses don't really pose that serious a threat. If you lightly speedrun the game you'll be hit by the difficulty increase

Not only that, but later fights, including the optional high level fighters, assumes you will make use of the stash of items you gathered during your adventure, and not only the health refills.
The moment I started using delivery to eat a extra large defense before challenging the "bosses", and eating the large attack consumable during the fight, made the actual fight a challenge, and not a grind of chip damage.
I've noticed most people who are not used to action games with RPG elements are the ones that complain about the wall of difficulty in Nayshall, while the ones with experience in these games find the first half incredibly easy to the point of being kinda boring after you unlock the ability to intimidate thugs and stop getting "random battles".

Overall, good review, but I do wanna address your points on Battle Hub. I'm speaking as someone who doesn't use it that much, and you did acknowledge it's just not the mode you're interested, but saying it doesn't offer much kinda misses what purpose it's supposed to have. Battle Hub is primarily a community tab or more accurate a virtual arcade room for players to interact with other players to not just, but also to talk with people, form clubs and not just fight each other, if someone is interested in only that they could just use play online matches in Fighting Ground. Again, this mode is primarily made with online players in mind, so I understand you not being interested as an offline player. I just thought the critique was a bit too biased from that perspective.
However, I do agree with your stance on the story and this my biggest problem with the game whole little it explores its own main plot. This was a concern I had when I learn World Tour mode would follow an avatar instead of actual main characters who will serve as mentors. It just made think that the World Warriors would not be as important and I was unfortunately right on that. Not to mention the actual main story of WT had little of actual significance, especially focuses on WT exclusive characters like Bosh, that I wasn't that interested. It's just gives me this feeling that we have yet to get the actual main story of this game later, which is kinda annoying. And I feel World Tour works better as a game mode when you interact with Street Fighters than being the main story mode.

A good game held back by a roster lacking diversity & many communication errors. I'd give SF6 in its launch state 7/10.
Hope season 2 introduces some SF3 characters and that they release an update to address the communication errors soon.

I think my biggest issue with 6 is always how it is so artificial in being a new generation. It’s sf2 with a couple alpha & 3 characters remade with many getting no development whatsoever. And there’s nothing touched upon with 3. 3 had a potential apocalypse, rising stars and a new rivalry set up. Now we don’t even know where the last guy who won the world warrior tournament is. I kinda hate how (possibly) in like a couple years of additions to the cast and maybe the story that people might just forget how little this game claiming to be completely new did that was that new. It’s a fantastic game, but I don’t think it’s beating kof 15 for best current fighting game.

Also; I agree with you on world tour and am glad someone isn’t sugar coating how tedious it is. It feels like a bad Yakuza clone. People praising this as the best single player experience in fighting games are clearly disingenuous. Obviously the branding is why someone would find this phenomenal and I find it disrespectful to games like rival schools 1/2 and the XX series for guilty gear which have legitimately fantastic single player content to say world tour was even comparable.

I think overall, SF6 is a really great fighting game, but it suffers all the problems of both Capcom and FGs in general, in that the online play (which is technically the smallest portion of the game) is the only thing really worth taking seriously. Even lore nerds like you and me who like the story, or people who enjoy RPGs, or diehard Capcom fans, will really only get our money's worth if we play online seriously. I do, so I'm fine, but in your case, it seems like you don't, hence it barely passes.
Also, and this is just how game releases go, there's a lot of small disappointments. We don't see many other characters outside of artwork, the story is average at best, everything singeplayer is limited in size, etc etc-a lot of what we were promised came through, but not in the way we wanted.
