It might sound weird but I’ve always liked watching the animated movies more than playing the games because I really like the characters but couldn’t figure out how to play them all that well. Getting to hang out with them all while learning the mechanics is why I decided to finally take 6 seriously. Also when Haggar’s not around everyone should be asking “Where’s Haggar?”.
Similar sitch. I love the world building (even had the SFII comics from when the SNES champs edition was current) but am largely trash tier. Only in Alpha or SFIII did i get to decent, thanks to Guy and Dudley. So the chance to just chill and run around sounds neat.
I get you because the animated movies are pretty darn good, have you watched street fighter 2 V(dunno why they put the V in the name) also? It's an old anime from the 90s, it's way too good to not be as popular as 4's animated OVAs.
@@fedupN I can ditto this sentiment as well even as someone who started out in the very first iteration of SF2 in Kindergarten (yes I have been playing fighting games for that long). The Alpha series largely helped me get good at a Street Fighter game and fighting games in general, and it's good to see more fighting games taking accessibility and single player experiences seriously and make them enjoyable.
Always thought it was about time someone made a fighting game like this. Or rather one that changes things up with these types of non-fighter-game mechanics. Anyways, I hope we get a bunch of more "out there" reps in this one! My favourite characters are always the ones like Hakan, Necro, Twelve, Q (or G for that matter), and Oro. I tend to feel the "regular human guy in Gi shirt number 7" gets pretty boring pretty fast.
I was thinking about how SF6 needs to bring back essentially all the characters that got introduced in SF4 and many of the SF3 characters. They definitely would be a decent fit for this iteration of Street Fighter.
I played the hell out of Alpha 3 and been wishing for a worthy follow-up to world tour. I'm so glad to hear this worked out, going to preorder now. Hopefully they get to adding a lot more characters (Give me Karin).
Not sure if I'm the first to say this but there's a bus stop in the west side of the city so you don't have to use the metro. Not sure if this was added in the day one patch or something but I've been playing for hours and I've only ever had to use the subway once

It's not like you're saying either of those things are bad in any way, just that you were left wanting in those areas. Dope! I'm a Guilty Gear player flirting with the idea of picking up SF6 so I'm glad you're putting your opinion out there. I think Cammy's badonk at 15:25 might be enough to convince me, but the package as a whole looks really interesting and I'm leaning towards getting it!
I really like the launch roster but I'll probably skip the first round of dlc characters. Maybe I'll buy A.K.I if she impresses and isn't just reskinned F.A.N.G, and while I've never played Akuma, who knows maybe he is too cool to ignore. While I respect Ed and Rashid they just aren't for me. I am also REALLY hoping to see Makoto, she just seems like she'd fit perfectly with the drive mechanic and I want to see how they handle her. I feel like she'd be perfect for this game. It would be a huge missed opportunity if she isn't announced for season 2.
It’s really nice to see Capcom come back in full swing with SF6. This is looking to be the next standard in modern fighting games indeed! So far this has been a good year for the company. But perhaps now, they can open up the rest of their legacy games to get similar treatment.
11:27 I think the reason World Tour ends abruptly is because it was confirmed every single dlc character Capcom is adding to the game is being added to World Tour mode as Masters and with more story being added. So it'd be kinda silly for it to just fully end considering they're going to be adding so much more to it. They didn't say if they'd add more hub worlds with the dlc characters but that might be a possibility
i don't really have much experience with fighting games since i don't have a console, but the idea of raising friendship points with these knuckleheads by alternately learning their techniques, punching the right people or gifting them valentine's day chocolates is kinda adorable
My issue with the new music is that... Is just hip-hop. Elevator sounding ahh hip-hop. Third-strike was full on with hip-hop aesthetic but it wasn't just that nor was it conservative with its sound. Third strike had jungle, drum and bass, nu funk; it experimented with the new sounds of the rave and club scene and mixed that with character and stage fitting motifs and instrumentation that made the tunes immediately recognizable. It was varied in style, tempo and instrumentation while SF6 everything kinda blends in together
I understand your character complaint. I find most of the classic sf character stale, although i love me some Ken. I was hoping for Laura, Alex, Sean, any of the 3rd strike characters really to return. But I'll just main Ken until cooler characters show up.
Its good to see Capcom respecting single player gameplay, if this World Tour mode is that good, then Tekken 8 and MK1 will have to bring their big guns if they are to keep up. Of course, Namco could always bring something interesting later with a potential Soul Calibur 7, but that probably won't happen anytime soon.
The small roster and glacial drip pace of character DLC is really pissing me off. Knowing that I have to wait at least a year for my franchise favorites to POSSIBLY be in this game is not great.

I tried the newest monster hunter and had high hopes for it. As a souls fan I thought for sure I would enjoy it. But the combat felt so bad. Having something walk 2 feet to the left and not being able to free aim or adjust your swing seems like a odd choice to me. Any advice?

I was never into Street Fighter. I think I played SF4 like once on the 3DS and that was probably it. I’ve always been more interested in BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. Been a while since I pre-ordered a game, I just knew I had after my experience in both closed betas. Definitely picking up Juri since she's my secondary usually with Bison as my main, but in SF6's case I'll give JP a whirl as while a zoner I still have some sort of Psycho Power squeeze. I'm crossing for fingers for Bison DLC like a Shadaloo Fighter Pack or something though.
I was really not excited for this game when it was first announced because SFV had really turned me off. But wow, they really turned things around and gave us the vibrancy and personality that the series has been missing since the 2D days. It looks absolutely beautiful, the RE Engine is no joke. So hyped for this, I come from Smash and just recently started picking up traditional fighting games and I have to say after playing the demo I was hooked. You only get 2 characters and stages, but I've already put around 10 hours into the demo fighting the cpu and playing with a friend of mine, so I can't wait for the full release.
I’m gonna spend the first few days or even weeks just goofing around in World Tour, trying out movesets and meeting the characters! I’m also a big Luke fan so I hope he sticks around for more than just one game
It's actually so nice to see someone actually say they like Luke. I don't like how he plays but I love the character himself, I think he's a really good fit for a new generation. He's a lil goofy but he's a good guy, I like him.
Are rewards different for beating arcade by fighting less opponents? I want to beat all 18 characters story modes as quick as possible, but I don't want to miss out on any rewards.
The fact that Street Fighter 5 released an "Arcade Edition" just shows how terrible the original release was. So glad that SF6 is the total opposite, filled to the brim with content
I like WT but is very small and even though I have explored every corner i feel they could have done more. There are places you think you can go, but theres a invisible wall and breaks the immersion. Many locations feel out of place: E.Honda shouldn't be right next to Chinatown, like you mentioned the subway takes you 2 or 3 blocks you can easily walk when it could've take you to another map like they did in Nayshall going up the mountain.
I will probably spend double that doing a lot of back tracking and fighting everyone I can. Going to be doing so much exploring after unlocking the traversal moves. Lol
I very, very rarely get codes early enough in time to play, write and upload a review on launch day. But when I do, and it's a game/franchise I'm passionate about, I'll make one for sure. The last one I did was for TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.

I was looking at your WT footage and thinking it looked like it'd be similar to that Konquest mode, so I'm glad you mentioned it - I thought Deception's Konquest was great fun even if its mechanics weren't the smoothest.
One of the things that worried me was the World tour mode. I just had bad experiences with games that focused on OC's instead of already established characters, on top of new ones that need build up. BUT... this looks alright. Nothing bad or good. And hopefully with more on the way. Glad to be wrong.
As someone who's never been interested in Street Fighter or pretty much any fighting game in general, I'm weirdly curious to try that one. Everything I've seen so far has been looking great.
Watching this review really fills me with pure excitement. I have loved fighting games for a real long time but more often than not, found it difficult to jump in as I'm absolutely awful at them. I mean the last fighter I really invested myself in was Tekken Tag Tournament 1. So hearing how open this is to newbies and completely incompetent idiots like me, gets me drooling over how many hours I will be putting in. Great review and looking forward to a great experience!
I remember that first teaser last year for SF6. I was...cautiously optimistic. Then the State of Play trailer happened in June and the hype levels went through the damn roof. Now after a closed and open beta and the demo, I am more ready to get my hands on this game than any other fighting game in my life. Especially since this is looking to be the highest rated SF ever.
"Cautiously optimistic" is exactly how I'd put my attitude at that time as well. I was thinking "Okay, not everything looks great, but...even if it's a major stylistic shift, it DOES feel like they're at least putting a lot of effort into this, which is more than I could say for SF5." Then they start showing the game off and I'm like..."oh, fuck, I'm actually excited for Street Fighter again. The hype train is actually rolling."
I mentioned how a battle pass was listed as a feature in the battlehub, but it wasn't active/online, so I don't have any details on how it works exactly. No reviewers have those details yet, cuz it's not active. There is however no "lots of currencies" there's two. Drive Tickets, which has been known for months and months, which are all earned in-game and are easy to get, and then the fighter coins, which are bought with real world currency. That's really, really, really standard, and how most other games handle it.
I've never really put time into learning SF as it's never been my game like Samsho is but I've always really loved the cast. So I'd read the comics and get through the story modes just to see them. So the World Tour mode's going to get me to actually learn a SF, just having tried it some. Because like, yeah no, I'd love to become besties with Chun Li and see what weird bullshit she texts me. Because I just really like Chun Li. I'm also actually liking the game feel. I tried V when they did that like free weekend thing a few years back and I just hated it. The V trigger just took away the things I thought were neat about the characters. As someone who loved Karin in Alpha 3 the most it was also really disheartening to see her rekka be made an optional thing as opposed to like the cornerstone of her gameplay. VI I don't have something like that taking stuff away from the characters and instead I have like the neat drive system I don't quite get. Also it's goofy but seeing the arcade cabs in the lobby makes me really happy. I played a lot of fighting games in arcades as a kid and while I was awful at them it's something that's always meant a lot to me. There's just something nice about playing against someone in an arcade setting. So it's really that games like this or Them's Fighting Herds are bringing bits of the arcade to the virtual world. It's really cool to pick up a Street Fighter and go "Wow yeah! This is my game!" finally. I hope that Karin comes back in season 2's dlc...
the general lack of an endearing story mode made me never want to buy a fighting game for full price just so i can get salty and hate myself playing it online only LOL. but world tour 100% sold me on this game. day 1 buy.
SF6 is the best fighting game I've ever played. Well balanced, visually entertaining, and rich in mechanics. Good luck finding a main, but I think every chatacter feels good and unique.

So does the jukebox mode let you set your own character theme from that selection or were you just saying you'd like that to happen?

I wasn't 100% sure on that. I did both round numbers, and I don't think it unlocked more than the other? Didn't do deep dive testing yet though.

The fact that Street Fighter 5 released an "Arcade Edition" just shows how terrible the original release was. So glad that SF6 is the total opposite, filled to the brim with content
I like WT but is very small and even though I have explored every corner i feel they could have done more.
There are places you think you can go, but theres a invisible wall and breaks the immersion.
Many locations feel out of place: E.Honda shouldn't be right next to Chinatown, like you mentioned the subway takes you 2 or 3 blocks you can easily walk when it could've take you to another map like they did in Nayshall going up the mountain.
Finally, some good fucking food.

i agree, none of the characters in the base roster (and the 1st year of dlc characters) tickle my fancy. but i love sf so I'll still pick it up at launch, maybe play cammy and manon 👀 I'm patiently waiting for sakura and makoto, and hoping very hard for lucia, sean, and akira to come back 🙏🙏

I was looking at your WT footage and thinking it looked like it'd be similar to that Konquest mode, so I'm glad you mentioned it - I thought Deception's Konquest was great fun even if its mechanics weren't the smoothest.
One of the things that worried me was the World tour mode. I just had bad experiences with games that focused on OC's instead of already established characters, on top of new ones that need build up. BUT... this looks alright. Nothing bad or good. And hopefully with more on the way. Glad to be wrong.

As someone who's never been interested in Street Fighter or pretty much any fighting game in general, I'm weirdly curious to try that one. Everything I've seen so far has been looking great.
Watching this review really fills me with pure excitement. I have loved fighting games for a real long time but more often than not, found it difficult to jump in as I'm absolutely awful at them. I mean the last fighter I really invested myself in was Tekken Tag Tournament 1. So hearing how open this is to newbies and completely incompetent idiots like me, gets me drooling over how many hours I will be putting in. Great review and looking forward to a great experience!

I remember that first teaser last year for SF6. I was...cautiously optimistic. Then the State of Play trailer happened in June and the hype levels went through the damn roof. Now after a closed and open beta and the demo, I am more ready to get my hands on this game than any other fighting game in my life. Especially since this is looking to be the highest rated SF ever.
"Cautiously optimistic" is exactly how I'd put my attitude at that time as well. I was thinking "Okay, not everything looks great, but...even if it's a major stylistic shift, it DOES feel like they're at least putting a lot of effort into this, which is more than I could say for SF5." Then they start showing the game off and I'm like..."oh, fuck, I'm actually excited for Street Fighter again. The hype train is actually rolling."

any insight about the two battle passes and lots of currencies capcom hid or probably the reviewers didnt bother to mention?
I mentioned how a battle pass was listed as a feature in the battlehub, but it wasn't active/online, so I don't have any details on how it works exactly. No reviewers have those details yet, cuz it's not active. There is however no "lots of currencies" there's two. Drive Tickets, which has been known for months and months, which are all earned in-game and are easy to get, and then the fighter coins, which are bought with real world currency. That's really, really, really standard, and how most other games handle it.

I've never really put time into learning SF as it's never been my game like Samsho is but I've always really loved the cast. So I'd read the comics and get through the story modes just to see them. So the World Tour mode's going to get me to actually learn a SF, just having tried it some. Because like, yeah no, I'd love to become besties with Chun Li and see what weird bullshit she texts me. Because I just really like Chun Li.
I'm also actually liking the game feel. I tried V when they did that like free weekend thing a few years back and I just hated it. The V trigger just took away the things I thought were neat about the characters. As someone who loved Karin in Alpha 3 the most it was also really disheartening to see her rekka be made an optional thing as opposed to like the cornerstone of her gameplay. VI I don't have something like that taking stuff away from the characters and instead I have like the neat drive system I don't quite get.
Also it's goofy but seeing the arcade cabs in the lobby makes me really happy. I played a lot of fighting games in arcades as a kid and while I was awful at them it's something that's always meant a lot to me. There's just something nice about playing against someone in an arcade setting. So it's really that games like this or Them's Fighting Herds are bringing bits of the arcade to the virtual world.
It's really cool to pick up a Street Fighter and go "Wow yeah! This is my game!" finally. I hope that Karin comes back in season 2's dlc...
the general lack of an endearing story mode made me never want to buy a fighting game for full price just so i can get salty and hate myself playing it online only LOL. but world tour 100% sold me on this game. day 1 buy.
SF6 is the best fighting game I've ever played. Well balanced, visually entertaining, and rich in mechanics.
Good luck finding a main, but I think every chatacter feels good and unique.
