A little trick I picked up from my uncle, he used to race one of the lower classes of Formula one, for when playing around with menu settings like this, or suspension and so on: You tend to take it slow and in small increments, but that can leave you with a vague and muddy impression. Instead you can try still concentrating on one setting at a time, but start out with a HUGE change, not a tiny one! That will make a big impression, show you how a change in that setting feels at the extreme and then all you need to do is tune it back to the correct level! Works better for some stuff then for other, but a valuable little trick to know and one I thought you might enjoy trying! - Thanks for the vid, getting my Bee the coming days! 👍👍
I have two additions: The gear ratio is in fact affected by the sprockets used. Since the bike measures speed from the motors ERPM. Unless you are sure it measures by the rear ASR sensor? What I tested is, it definitely uses the rear wheel for the odometer + speedo. The T parameter is the only one that is not saved after a reboot. It always starts in T0. Also did you know you can update your bikes old firmware using the official Surn-ron app?
Good video. I've ordered one that'll be here mid November, and I've gotten the most information from your video. The rest are just people doing wheelies.
That was very comprehensive. I've dabbled with my settings and I think we have similar choices. I'll play around with the throttle sensitivity a bit more to see what I like. I also want to compare the ASR settings up my nasty hills. I ride all off-road, all-mountain cross-country riding, rarely on any kind of trails.
Thank you for detailing what each setting does and demonstrating real-world results/consequences. Looks to me like traction control is best off unless on flat surface with ice. The other settings are personal preference and condition specific. Getting used to each is highly recommended to see which is best for the rider.
Tip on the TC, since I just rewatched the video: I appreciated the test, since it shows well how much the motor CAN cut in the worst cases! But pragmatically speaking, a more "real world usability test" would be getting a slow, a mid and a fast corner, pick the strongest setting and just keep it pinned 100% from the middle of the corner... Then be incrementally more careful and reduce the assistance and compare the TC runs with how you would ride it "analog" just with your wrist... I'm not a giant fan of TC, but I have two friends that are and that's what they both love and praise about it: Get past the middle of the corner and just tear it open "light switch style" and hold on for dear life... Eager to try it on the Ultra Bee and dirt! Only have experience on my road bike!😀
I didnt know the bike had these settings. I wondered why it cut power while on a gnarly hill climb. But now im going to disable the tilt sensor. Thanks for the info
Hey man! I've noticed your video feels very fast, however when I look at your speedo, it only shows 20-25. When I go this speed it looks boringly slow on my wide angle cam. May I ask which cam you use and in which FOV?
What sort of range (time and mile/kms) do you get riding single track? I have a Beta Xtrainer and I'm thinking of swapping to an Ultra Bee as I mainly ride single track technical stuff. I average around 30kms and 2 hours of moving time per ride when I ride.
My range in mixed riding (60-70 km/h pavement and slow technical rocky terrain/climbs) is ~60 km or about 2h. I think it can do more if you are lucky enough to have single track just outside your door.
Best e.moto reviews by anyone not even close. Really waiting for you to do the whole line of Artic Leopards but especially the UB competitor the Snow Leopard. Hope you can get one soon as most of these guys just do a ride video unlike your in depth analysis yeah 😊
Awesome video. Do you have the SurRon telemetry box installed on your bike? If so, you can use the suron app by Bluetooth to control all these settings too. The naming convention in the app for each setting is a little bit different though. Also, the box has a SIM card which enables GPS tracking of the bike and all your rides and an alarm feature.
Would love to see a comparison of a stock Freeride EXC and the stock Ultra Bee. I know the Ultra has less power, so the Freeride should be faster, but curious to see if it's close to keeping up on a trail ride.
Great video, Tucker! Would have been very useful for me last week while I had Ultra for testing 😀Now I am looking forward to more Storm Bee content! Have you managed to make it feel more "sporty"?
Got the Ultra Bee a few days ago, didn’t ride it until upgrading the wheels with trails tires, RC bend bars, bark busters, and foot pegs, non-O-ring chain on the way. I love it! Set it up with all your settings right off the bat, perfect! Sport mode all the way for me, although I am used to a lot of open bikes over the years, down the road, will definitely upgrade to the EBMX battery and controller, supposedly makes 40 hp? That would be insane!!👍👍👍. 1.1 seems perfect gear ratio setting for 21”.
My orange backlight for my digital display is off but I can still see my speed and all the info, anyone know how to either turn it back on or fix it if it’s a problem. I really hope I just turned it off without knowing what I did 😅
@@Etonnantnon brake regen slows the machine when you apply brakes (you regen a lot of energy) coast regen is when you cruise downhill with no brakes applied and no throttle apply (you regen less energy than brake regen)
@ls1chevy2 thanks for the response. that's sad. I didn't buy it directly from China, bought a road legal version from. an authorized dealer in my country in europe. I still get the same error over and over
Does anyone have an Ultra Bee in the Boulder / Longmont Colorado area? The dealer I purchased the bike from is putting in a warranty claim on my charger, but it looks like it will be several weeks before the replacement charger gets here. My battery has two bars left, but I am wondering whether the problem could be the battery port and not the charger. I was wanting to test someone else's charger on my battery to verify that the issue is in fact my charger. The dealer indicated that they have seen other faulty chargers already with the same symptoms that I have and that they have already put in a few warranty claims. It would suck to wait who knows how many weeks for a replacement charger only to find out that the issue is not the charger. I only used the bike on a trail once and it is already out of commission. I will provide an update here to let folks know how long it takes for Surron to remedy this issue. Apparently, I am not the only person going through this.
Update - After sending the charger back to the dealer via UPS, the dealer has confirmed that the charger is bad. I only used the charger once. I am now stuck with a bike that I can't ride until I get a warranty replacement charger. I hope am I not waiting several weeks / months.
Seriously the most in depth video of an Ultra bee out there thank you man 🤘

Still got a KTM Freeride to do a shoot out against the Ultra?

A very comprehensive tutorial and explanation. Thank you.
Can you guys show how to get the Surron app up and running in English?
Got my ultra bee last week..thanks for the video and great explanation.
I want this so badly.

have either of you got 1 yet? bcs i’m w you guys i want 1 myself

Thats easy. I run mine with a 21/18 wheelset and while Trail riding with other Gas bikes we Ride 2hrs and i‘ve got 30-40 percent left
I have a consumption of around 25% per hour on my Ultra on stock tires when riding trails.

thank you for the most important guide i saw about the ulatra bee.
Review couldn't get any better! The Settings are very confusing, Amazing review.
I would like to know what the average additional miles of range is when you use Regen?
Very comprehensive video. Awesome!
Thank you so much all the others videos are made on the European version wich comes with flashers and the menu is not the same apparently

Is there a T option? ( as in Talent )
I'm waiting for mine ; talent& bike ... Good video and thanks .
Thanks for making this video. Really helpful. Hell yeah.👍🏼 🤘🏼
I think traction control is best suited for pavement. Dirt bikes, the rear is always spinning faster than the front on hills
The ultra looks so fun! Where is the best spot to buy one(here in CO)?
Just in time for lunch 😊
good job!!
So cool thank you.
What about setting U? My bikes got a U setting with three levels

Non O-Ring chain? What does that mean? What does it have instead of O-Rings? And how is it better?

Did you ever fix this issue
Need 18 21 wheel set
When I press the buttons simultaneously. Mine doesn’t do anything and my modes will not come up why is that
1st I need one or 3 of them!
no regen. no sensors on. no traction control. the best way to ride this bike
why ? i dont understand difference between brake regen and coast regen , thanks

How do you bind the app I put in the SN number and the VIN number then I hit bind have tried many times it won't bind
did you find a solution to this?

TC on…I think it loses momentum and then trying to regain momentum causes more wheel spin…eventually just goes slower and slower.
💯‼️

Seems like an interesting topic but 30 minutes nobody got time for that
why only 30fps in video ? its not fluid motion in my mind 60 FPS is way better for fast movements....
the wheel locks up because the computer on the bike is working out how much regen to use.
