lived in New Zealand for three years, Australia for two years, L.A for one years, and China for ten years. China is actually the safest place you can found , in terms of living, maybe some scam and thief exist which only vanish your money in old time, but its rare to see these things in big city now, because those Chinese don't use cash anymore. Aggressive violence incident? Not in China, even NZ is worse than China in terms of violence incident. Give you example, there are five Tier 1 cities(Most developed city, SH, BJ etc.) in China, and you can have a walk in the midnight in those Tier 1 city's CBD and you feel very safe. I beg you cannot do that in L.A, Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney etc. Stop bullshit impression just by watching video or read shit from internet, go have a look, your mom gives you eyes for a reason.

Well, I lived in China in my first 23 years, never seeing a robbery, steal or any kinds of crime(not saying there is no crime, it’s just never happen to me). I lived in US from 23-27, assulted by African Americans four times, hit by cars while riding 🚲 three times. I saw people 💩 on a bus and downtown San Francisco, oh, and in the lobby of a UC Berkeley building. Three teenagers pointed a gun at my coworker right at the entrance of our office building and robbed her. 🤷‍♂️ All my friends has been shouted at when they walking on street, “go back to China, cxxxk”. I guess I know which one is safer. Maybe I’ll try a third country next.

As far as crime its fairly safe. But there are dangerous levels of pollution, and smog containing a variety of toxic chemicals. They literally have a report on how dangerous the air is and some days you are advised to stay indoors if at all possible. Also, nearly every man smokes. Its common for a doctor to be smoking while they are giving you a checkup, and smoking is even recommended at times for health benefits. Yes, really. So lots of second hand smoke. So not great for your health.
Also, its quite filthy. You'll see kids pooping on the sidewalk, men urinating on buildings, and hacking and spitting on the floor is perfectly acceptable, even indoors. Trash is often thrown in ditches in the country, and alleys in the cities. So yeah, germs.
Traffic is a nightmare. Traffic lights and signs are, literally, completely ignored. Nobody lets anyone else pass because its considered weak to allow such a thing. People will jump their vehicles onto sidewalks and plow through foot crossings. Pedestrians are hit at an alarming rate and accidents are commonplace. Speed limits are pretty much ignored. Cops do little to enforce traffic laws. So be very careful while getting around.
Corruption, as is commonplace in large centralized governments, is rampant. If you break a law or are suspected of doing so (there are lots of them) you will likely have a rough time. Punishment is often severe, such as the death penalty for smuggling or distributing marijuana.
If you're careful, watch out for fraud, and use common sense you'll probably be fine, though you may want to think hard before living there.
I've visited China several times, both large cities and rural. My brother has been living there for four years teaching English. He's moving back in a month.

As a Chinese I have to concede I dare not drive in my home city anymore after being used to the traffic conditions in Europe. In China it's not only messy on the street (nobody lets other cars or pedestrians go first) but also dangerous on highways. Since no one uses indicators changing a line and the most people (even the coaches from driving schools) drive like what they want.. Hopefully autonomous vehicles will be common used in the future for countries such as China so that traffic chaos will not endanger people's lives!

Also, the voilent crime is very low as of now. In the recent past, 40-45 million killed by the government. So I guess their voilence quote is full.

I lived in China for 7 years. Like most countries, if you don't go looking for trouble, it won't come looking for you. Personally, I had a great time living in China and I was only ripped off/scammed a couple of times during my 7 years there. I eventually left China not because of the way I was treated, but because of the way Chinese treat each other. In China, life is cheap, money is power and morals take a back seat to profit. But, the same could be said for a lot of countries, though in China I felt it more than in any of the many other countries I have lived in.

Here in turkey, the most crimes occur in large cities, murder rate is low and petty crimes are average. Some may say that Turkey is dangerous because of "terrorists". However, that is not the case, if you are truly scared of terrorism, then I guess you can say stay away from the Southwest border, but encountering a terrorist is highly unlikely. If you can tell me where you are going to stay then I changed give you more information, glad to help. Güle güle ^^

I know lots of Americans are influenced by media and they assume China is unsafe, I totally understand, because when I decided to study in America three years ago, my parents FREAKED OUT because they assumed that U.S. was incredibly unsafe due to what they heard from Chinese media.

It really depends on where you go in Brazil. I live in Argentina, and have travelled to Brazil. Smaller cities, towns and the countryside are generally safe (note that I said generally, not always). Big cities are, sadly, very dangerous. A close friend of mine lives in Rio and has been mugged, assaulted and robbed several times. She had her apartment complex siezed by criminals, and was held hostage in her workplace while it was being ransacked. Pickpocketing, muggings, bag snatching, motorized thieves, scam artists... they're everywhere. And if that wasn't enough, you have to be very careful about kidnappings, too (be very careful with taxis).
It's quite sad because most Brazilians are amazingly nice, friendly and honest people. And they're suffering greatly at this moment. Things aren't much better here in Argentina, either, as crime has skyrocketed over the past couple years as the country is spiralling into another massive economic recession, money is scare and everything is extremely expensive. Sadly, I no longer recomend people to come here. Hopefully, things will get better soon and tourists will come back, because there are so many things Argentina has to offer.

I've lived in China for about 6 years cause I was born there, after that I moved to Canada where I left all my cousins behind lmao, along with my grandma, grandpa, aunties, and uncle and yes, cousins. But we still fly back each year to visit for 2 weeks. But the downside of being in China is that wifi is monitored by the government 24/7 and it is ONLY available for wechat, no snapchat, instagram, facebook etc. basically all the other social media platforms.

I've never been to China. I'd say it's the kind of place that is safe, as long as you know a few street rules as mentioned in this video, and especially the law.
There are countless numbers of people stuck in Chinese prisons for years, or without any knowledge of when or if they'll get out. Because China while having economic freedom, it lacks political freedom. Knowing the laws there would be essential to living there. With your bases covered that is.

Not sure I'd believe those CCP stats. That said, I lived in Shenzhen for a while, and Beijing for a short time as well, and they're both pretty safe. There are areas, of course, but overall, expats (at least white expats) are really well protected by the Chinese; Japanese aren't so lucky (thanks to memories of World War 2), and neither are blacks, necessarily (thanks to ignorant racism, as mentioned).
As for traffic... good luck. You're taking your life into your hands if you wanna drive in the Middle Kingdom.

CNN says that Sydney is one of the safest cities in the world, guess what. Been in Sydney for 3 years now, saw dudes with axes chasing this guy on a bike at Redfern, saw 2 fights on the street, my friends house got robbed a few months ago, saw a drug trade in person(two guys walked pas each other and one handed a small bag of white stuff, the other put some money in his pocket) and another intrusion at Burwood just recently. Lived in China for 10 years, and saw none of these
