How do you blend with the crowd when on a tourist trip? Do you try to hide the fact that you're a tourist? Do you think it's safer that way?

In México, looking like a tourist makes you vulnerable to scams, ambulant sellers and higher prices for souvenirs.

The Infographics Show That's easy! Maybe cause I'm mexican-american brown 😂. Don't wear a hat or shades, wear your used shorts & tank tops, don't forget your $1 "chanclas" you bought at Old Navy. I blended in too well as a local that a mexican from a different state asked me for directions! 😂 LOL oh gosh I took it too far 😅 🙏don't raise the prices on me por favor.

To be clear, i know it is safe.
I just wanted to illustrate how media outside a country actually blew up things out of proportion. For example, in Mexico the shooting are shown like something that happens every other week. Also, that high schoolers are afraid of their lives on their schools.
However, I am not blind to the fact that Mexico have real dangerous zones. Sadly there is places and roads that not even locals can travel to. But there is a big difference from a dangerous zone to a fail state.
I apologize if my comment offended anyone.

I'm Mexican and I can tell you it's safe if you are cautious, of course it is not going to be safe if you are in a dark street at 2 am in Tepito... You need to know where and when you are going to be... And obviously you shouldn't have the "tipical tourist look" you need to use logic

Same thing over at in Juarez, a city near the border which is also near El Paso, if any of you heard of that place. Anyway, my point is that if you're out on the streets past midnight over there, there's a high chance the police over there will pull you over and threaten you if you don't pay them back for some reason. And it's a high price, well with their currency compared to ours, it won't seem like much. But still, the police over there are just bad. They're very corrupted, and they just don't care about anyone, only money.

I’m Mexican and come on!! We don’t wear ponchos and sombreros on our daily life. I agree a 100%. It’s safe as long as you know your restrictions. Now one thing I want to make clear. Media shows Mexicans as uneducated poor and in need to cross the rio grande river, not true, most Mexicans don’t want to leave the country even if they are not rich and a big part of us are educated people with degrees and decent lives. Mexico is my home where people are happy even when things go wrong we have hope and we dream we know the value of life and the meaning of dead we enjoy everyday we don’t think much about the future we live the moment there’s not such thing as retirement but as we say we’ll figure it out . I love my country!! Thank you for this video infographics

My wife and I flew to Mexico in 2014 to stay in Cancun. Now I know Cancun is pretty much not even considered Mexico since it's so Americanize there but we rented a car and drove all the way to Merida across state which took us a few hours. Yeah we were scared!! But we really wanted to try it out. We crossed into a different state inside Mexico and two police men carrying huge automatic rifles stopped us from crossing this bridge they were guarding. They told us to pull over to the side. My wife and I started freaking out. We were in the middle of the jungle and these 2 cops could have done anything to us! But all they did was ask for our car registration papers and passports since we were Americans. Did a computer search and cleared us. They reminded us to dont trust anyone and to try to be back to Cancun before dark. They were really friendly. Long story short. The two weeks we spent there in the state of Yucatan, never had a problem.

We went to Acapulco, to visit our family and me and my family were scared to death due to what we heard in the news but absolutely NOTHING happened to us, we even walked around in the streets at around 11PM or midnight and nothing happened. Just stay away from the gangs and you're fine. We have been to Mexico 2 times, in Acapulco, Cancun, and Mexico City and me and my family absolutely loved it and my family was incredibly happy about going back to their home country for a little bit. As a Mexican, I agree with most of the info provided on this video. You should always avoid shady places. An easy way to tell if a place is not frecuented by gangs is the genre of music they play. If they play "banda" and "corridos" it's most probable there will be at least one or two gang members around. If it's rock or pop they play, it's almost unlikely there will be crime there...

It's true. We're might be very classists in Mexico but that's because most of the time they fullfill the stereotype, if someone listens to narcocorridos they probably love violence and idealize criminal life, probably desire the most expensive stuff (alcohol, cars, clothes, jewelry) to gain status inside a gang and see women as objects, probably are ignorant and droped out of middle school, probably have lots of stupid and unnescesary drama in their life for making stupid decisions...

Hello, my name is Rodrigo, I am a Mexican, born and raised, but I have visited many countries and cities in my lifetime. I can tell you this, if you are thinking of traveling to Mexico city (where I live) you are Most probably safe from getting mugged or jumped on. But you do have to beware of pickpockets(especially on the metro) you have to take care of your belongings because many people here will not return a lost phone or wallet. You also have to outsmart scammers, if you have a tourist face people sometimes will try to get an extra coin by raising prices etc. But for the most part you are safe in Mexico city.

I am a gringo and was sent down to Mexico City for business for 5 years. Being from Texas , and having Mexicans friends and colleagues, I pretty much speak and understand Spanish almost fluently. Some sayings can differ from country to country. Huevon in Mexico, means lazy, but in central America, its more like saying asshole. In a nut shell Mexico, in general, is safe and can offer great times. If you can use a little common sense, you will me fine. Don't be the idiot drunk gringo looking for trouble, because its easy to find if you are looking for it. Show respect and dignity, and you shall receive it back. Don't be dumb and decide to venture to isolated border towns. I'll tell you a short story. I hailed a cab from the street, and noticed the meter was still running from its last fare. I politely said, hey man you did not reset he meter. The dude, who looked above 50, apologized. But I paid and got out. Casually, a lady was watering her garden and asked if everything was ok. I told her what happened, then offered me to come in her house, which was quite beautiful, for some coffee and offered me to take me to my destination. We drove about 15 minutes and dropped me off without charge, even though I insisted. Lovely lady, said it was her duty to help a fellow stranger. So long I pay it forward. I had an accident rock climbing and fractured my collar bone. I was impressed with the health care facilities. Ofcourse, it was not free. Just dont be an idiot and attract attention. Do be aware of your surroundings, and I cant stress enough, COMMON SENSE people, and you will fall in love with the place. Salud.

Its safe if you have precaution, like stated in the video, but just don't be outside after midnight with your phone out after a long party of drinking. I learned that the hard way, I could've been killed but thankfully I was only hurt and they just stole my phone and weed :(. Carry a pepper spray or something if your ever coming here. And try using Uber and avoid taxis and buses.

All I can say to anyone thinking of going to Acapulco is to exercise caution like any other place you might go. As long as you stay to the main parts of the city, you’ll be fine. Obviously don’t go downs sketchy looking alleyway as you wouldn’t wonder down one anywhere else in the world.
Acapulco is Beautiful, truly a gem. There’s a lot of violence, yes. But Acapulco is a very large city, and the vast majority of those affected are involved with the Cartels.

I’d say that some parts of Sinaloa are dangerous because of gangs and drug cartels but in Maźatlan it’s perfectly safe if you know what your doing. The main things are that you shouldn’t go out at night, and keep away from the city’s outskirts. Other than that I think the worst thing that could happen to a tourist is you get in a cab and they make a 1 mike trip a 10 mike one and make you pay for it because you don’t know the difference.

if you take ethnicity as a factor some palaces are more dangerous for some group of ppl than others ..
for example , im an arab from saudia so ppl always assume that I'm a Muslim ( I'm not a man of religion ) and categorize me under a certain ideological picture that they hate ..

A lot mexicans here seems to ignored the reality, in my school twice evacued the university for shootings, a lot of times the military enter capturing people. Architecture, nature, beaches, mountains, food, kind people, celebrations and much more. I miss my Mexico so much! It is true, Mexico has probles as any other country. Visit it in I promise you would like to come again!!!

I live in Mexico, it has it's goods and bads like the US. I can honestly say that surroundings like Tijuana gives away pretty easily that vibe of an even hostile zone than East Los Angeles if you come from the US. All the graffiti, trash laying around, cracks, holes and dead dogs/cats on the road, lots of sewage waters stuck in certain areas since the smell, the deported (not all but few do make you want to stay away from because of how they stare, behave around women and all), the cops and their Pick Ups (since their reputation proceeds them for acts of corruption like our politicians just because they do not wear body cams that will release evidence on TH-cam ever) etc.

As a Mexican and Russian, I really don't like it when people exaggerate and say "iS iT SaFE?!" As long as you don't mess with the cartel members, it's highly unlikely for you to die. There are very nice people in Mexico. Of course, the violence is still there, but there's also violence in Chicago and Detroit. If you want to go to Mexico, feel free. But still take precaution.

    • @pinodevideos

The increase on drug cartels and stuff was due to the war on drugs.
Of course if you cant get drugs in the street then go to a merchant far away to get your drugs of course mexico was a druggy place before the war on drugs but when that started the drug market became a lot more profitable, and thus making a shit ton more of cartels.
But its safe even some of the cartel bosses were considered as semi heroes by small towns due tp them protecting them and helping their economy grow, of course im talking about El Chapo
