    Hats off for your collaborative, generous approach and for showing how versatile both of your styles are. I love practicing these. Grateful for the trademark joke which shows that you understand how ridiculous it is to try and "own" natural movements.

    I have EDS hypermobility/ HMS I definitely don't need more flexibility but building strength, control and awareness is really important, been doing your foot exercises, and started your 10 minute workout, which I love and been practicing the animal movements. Thank you this is much better than the physio exercises.

      Both my shoulders are unstable one in one joint the other in the other joint - both shoulder joints, so animal movements are great because my arms aren't above my head and squatting might help stop my hips turning in. Also going to give your wrist exercises a go, I can't afford to do your programmes but you should do an EDS one, we need good physio x

    A lot of the students still have their heads jutting out a bit...It would be awesome to have you guys address that because my students have the same tendency -- it's the cell phone slump. I can adjust their head positions a zillion times, but they revert.

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's more habit than anything, and you're not going to fix it in a single session or within a month. We've addressed it in a bunch of places, and Jarlo even cowrote a book about posture with Steven Low. Neck position isn't a form cue; it's a habitual pattern.

    Hey GMB,
    I have a problem with my handstand. I know how to do one, but I have difficulties with not falling forward. I know how to react when I fall backwards, but as soon as I push with my fingertips in order to get back to the middle, I fall forward. Even on the wall I have this problem...any tips? :/
    I dont know how to react when I fall forward, pushing with my palms does not work.

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you are falling forward you want to push through your fingertips and when you are falling back you want to push through the heel of your hands. So right now you have it flipped around and that could be part of the reason you are falling out of the handstand.

    @GMB Fitness OK. I love the look of these ideas. The people in the vids look young and in pretty good shape. I'm fat (44% body fat), 57 but feel about 100... stiff as a board and everything aches, pinches and hurts. I hate traditional 'workouts' with mind numbing, boring sets and reps of non functional movements. These look like fun, practical workouts ticking all fitness boxes. Help. Where/how do I even start?

      @gmbfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, they're fitness trainers - of course they're in good shape. Would you want advice from someone who isn't? :)
      We've worked with people both older and bigger than you. The fact is, it's not easy, but continuing to get worse is even harder when you think about it. I suggest being gentle and gradual with yourself and starting with some stretching like this: th-cam.com/video/C40CO8MTB2g/w-d-xo.html

    how do you compare Frogger with Ape?

    • @waaagh3203
      @waaagh3203 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, Ape was a game about a guy named Spike attempting to catch a bunch of apes from an evil ape army. Frogger is a more classic game that is about a frog trying to cross a highway and dodge traffic. I'd say, besides the fact that they're both games and both involve animals, there is little comparison.

    I bought animal flow 2.0. Here is my initial impression. The DVD is formatted so poorly it is an eye sore and horribly clunky in the menus. I noticed on the first section, the wrist mobs, that the video was cut improperly. I downloaded and checked the online files (which come with the DVD version). Sure enough half the wrist mobs are cut off on the DVD! They stress how important they are and that they should be done at the beginning and end of each exercise YET THEY DON'T EVEN INCLUDE THEM ALL ON THE DVD. The quality of the eVideos are much higher quality resolution as well. On my TV it looks like 480p and on my computer it is in HD. Even on the eVideos the sound only comes out the left side, until there is an edit then it comes out much louder on only the right side. First impression is pure disappointment. I think the actual material is probably good and I may come back here to leave a review on the actual content.
    I am interested to hear from those who have bought GMB's program. How is the editing and formatting with their videos?

    • @ChengManChing
      @ChengManChing 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Doing Week 4 of Elements right now, and I have no problem with the editing/formatting. Ryan is an excellent teacher and I would say that videos are very clear and that the program itself is well structured. Of course, if you have the time you can practice on your own beyond the structured schedule. Note: the lessons are all on-line, although you can download a low res version. I personally haven't done that yet. Elements is a very good intro to this kind of training.

    Just do Jiu Jitsu, those movements are bjj warmups

    • @gmbfit
      @gmbfit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Those movements can be found in BJJ, you're right; however, by spending time working on them in a program focused on strength, flexibility, and control you can carry that into your BJJ practice. Also many people don't have access to a place to practice BJJ. ;-)

    • @waaagh3203
      @waaagh3203 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's the same mentality of BJJers who say "you gain all the strength you need by rolling hard," and then go on to get smashed by a wrestler with a strength and conditioning program in an MMA fight. BJJ culture is especially bad among combat sports when it comes to strength and conditioning. There's more to it than BJJ warm ups. And I'm saying this as a BJJ practitioner. BJJ is great, but if you want to be an amazing athlete all around, you'll have to do more training than just pure BJJ.
