    In this video, I’m showing my beat making workflow on the SP-404 MKII and honestly I’m still quite slow on this machine, partly because some things are objectively slow to do on it, compared to Maschine or Ableton Live. Maybe you can’t tell from the video because I’ve cut all the mistakes so it doesn’t get too long but it took me quite a long time to make this beat. But it’s still quite a fun device to make beats on and for this session all the samples that I used come from my latest sample pack “The Heat”.
    Gear I use:
    ➡️ Maschine MK3
    ► zZounds: bit.ly/zZMK3
    ► Thomann: bit.ly/ThomannMK3
    🎹 Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2
    ► NI: bit.ly/LowHeatS49
    ► Thomann: bit.ly/S49Thomann
    ➡️ Push 2
    zZounds: bit.ly/ZzPush2

    I had no idea you could select the key in chromatic mode. Very helpful.

      Yeah, it's one of those hidden features. Glad I could help!

      Yeah that is cool - does it assume the sample is a specific pitch (middle C for example) or A 440 for example? Also I wonder why they used roll + encoder rather than shift.

      @@NoelLeeman Yes, you “need” to have your sample at middle C for it to work nicely.

    Dope video as always! The SP-404 truly looks complicated to me. What is its main advantage compared to using a DAW?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks! Mainly the portability and the immediacy of the effects for performing. Otherwise for making beats a DAW is faster and easier to me. It's definitely a weird workflow, that's why it may seem compicated.

    Hi! thanks for this video. After creating that pathern, how do you save it to SD?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. I think you need to resample it as a wav file and then export it from the import/export menu.

    Very nice video, thank you. I have a question - I entered the project mode and assigned a pad for a new project, went to import files/samples from my SD card, after realising that I have no my SD card inserted (forgot it at home) I wanted to exit the project to go back to "original" mode where I can press the pads to trigger samples I installed previously or play with the internal samples which are installed on SP by default on the banks --> Here is the issue - apparently the SP is stuck in the "Project" mode, I pressed exit, I restarted the device many times, still stuck. Can't go back to normal mode. Can you please advice ? Thanks

      Hey, glad you enjoyed the video! I have no idea how you can solve that problem though.

    Thnx a lot - very clear. Thinking to buy the SP404 MK2. So, as of now it's possible to record notes into the sequencer via chromatic mode? (am i seeing it right?)

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you’re seeing it right, it does record chromatic mode into the sequencer. Glad the video was useful!

      @@LowHeatBeats Looks and sounds great. I like this video bc I can follow what you’re doing. A lot of videos seem overly complicated. Thanks. Out of curiosity, do you have a vid on BPM Sync at all? I’m having difficulty getting my head round that.

    • @LowHeatBeats

      Glad the video was useful! But I don’t think I have a video on BPM sync.

    How do you fight the clicks in gate mode? I mean it’s no sustain and release when GATE is turned on, and when the sound you’re playing ends - it’s clicking time by time … For example my old MPC or Ensoniq don’t have this type problem.

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I wish it had a proper envelope like any other sampler. Let's hope they add it at some point. I don't think there's a way to prevent the clicks currently.

    • @user-uw4lb9ps1l
      @user-uw4lb9ps1l ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LowHeatBeats Only if you filtering bass around 100 hz - it's no more high frequencies to produce the clicks, so, its possible to play basslines.

  • @thinkognito344
    @thinkognito344 ปีที่แล้ว

    so you have to have a sample in C for it to work when you pick the key/scale to play n chromatic mode?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, otherwise it becomes hard to calculate which notes you're playing. Unfortunately if your sample isn't a "C", even if you tune it, chromatic mode still plays it related to its original pitch, which is not how samplers are supposed to work.

    • @andystandys

      I was just going to ask the same question. ;)
