    * I said s24u has a 10x camera but no I don’t mean a dedicated physical 10x camera. It’s using the high res 5x camera to crop in. I say this later in the video but nobody watches that far 😂

      The s24u randomly overexposes, havent used raw yet but it also happens in jpg.

      How is a crop in different than a digital zoom in? Neither is true 10x, so I'm not sure why even say 10x is offered. I guess you could argue S24U has an equivalent 10x at a reduced MP count, but it seems no different than the iPhone zooming in in that case.

    I was so close to buying the iPhone 15 pro max only because it has cleaner interface, great performance and better camera but then I realized that s24 ultra has them except a bad camera and color profile. However, the reason I went with S24 Ultra instead of iPhone 15 pro max is because I literally edit all of my photos first before I upload them. If you're more of a casual user then go with iPhone. I personally love S24 Ultra because it has a little bit more functionality.

      Yes, Plugging your phone, into a Pc, using the USB chord essentially turns your phone into a Stand Alone, USB Hard Drive or memory stick. Just insure you have enough phone battery to last throughout the entire transfer Process. Also, while on the subject of images, check your phone setting to insure y ou are getting teh veyr best image, possible, every time you take a picture, Always shoot RAW. While this will take much more memory, it will also give you the best possible base, form which, to edit your pictures. There is a reason hy stand-alone, expensive DSLR's have the RAW capability.

    Unfortunately really strong noise reduction and oversharpening is baked into the files, so for me with iPhone clean RAW from a third party app (Lightroom, Halide) always wins in daylight. Then use AI denoise function in LR and you will see beautiful results...Anyway, your test - main camera A was clearly better. Consistent colors, WB and oversharpened HDR "look" was not as obvious as with Samsung. However, Samsung really surprised me with their night mode.

      There’s options to soften your photos at different levels to counteract the over sharpening in the stock auto mode. For image processing it’s called “intelligent optimization” which is set to maximum by default, you can lower to medium or minimum. Then, under the “camera assistant” there’s an option called “picture softening”. This is off by default. You can set it to medium or high to reduce the over sharpening.

The fact that i couldn't tell which pictures comes from which phone it keep flipping depending on environment makes me believe that iPhone is going to dust . Its time iPhone start adding more functionality to their just to catch up with samsung. Samsung is still better phone all round. And 90 % of users dosent edit the photos before posting which make the old format of samsung pictures (saturated and colour boosting) more pleasing to the public. 9% will be happy with pro video and pictures. Only 1% is interested in expert raw and pro res or log. Which all already has over 5k professional cameras which for editing phone camera cant beat them. Only look better if not going to edit them . Versatility and productivity wise iphone is like 4th generations phone to samsung as note 20 ultra still has more useful features and comparable cameras to the 15 pro max .

      Unfortunately people like fighting.
      Even if Samsung wins by 1 point or vise versa, fanboys will argue theirs is better.
      In the real world, outside the internet, nobody cares.

    The reason the RAW files from S24 Ultra looks weird is because you used the Expert RAW app & not the "Pro Mode" on the actual camera app.
    Expert RAW app does some processing to the RAW file which is horrendous. Terrible processing, and defeats the purpose of shooting RAW in my opinion. Samsung needs to fix it with an update because it's adding tons of sharpening also, as well as an overly processed look. It's funny because Expert RAW app givesvyou 16bit RAW files compared to 12bit on stock camera app.
    You're not actually getting proper RAW, untouched files from Expert RAW.
    You need to use "Pro" mode instead.
    Although not a fan of iPhones, gotta admit that portrait RAW file looks nice & full of depth even before editing.

    Colors are always worse on samsung, also you can notice less detail in the shadows, and for some reason, there's smearing and oversharpening on the walking shot.. even in raw.. I absolutely do not understand the hype. The only photo that's objectively better with samsung is the lock.

    I don't know why people use Expert RAW instead of Pro Mode. You get way more details in Pro.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Expert raw is computational. Pro mode is just raw off the sensor so you get way less dynamic range and more noise. But outside of that you get way more detail cuz the phone isn’t trying to process out the noise. Not great for lowlight but looks great in good light

    I got it wrong completely, I overall prefered B much more and thought it was iPhone, but I'm glad it was the Ultra all along since I use samsung's ecosystem!

    for my own preferences, the iphone got 11 points and the samsung got 12. I was thinking that the samsung was way better, but they are actually so close to each other and in most cases I can t even tell which pic I prefer. I like the portret pics more on the iphone and I feel like the pics are better exposed, while the s24 ultra has way better zoom and all lenses, which is really useful. Both camera are great but I ll chose the samsung bc of that improved battery that lasts longer, the s-pen that I will need often, the ai features, the DEX mode which turns my phone into a laptop with every screen. I m upset that the difference in the camera is so little, bc now I can t justify the crazy prices

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Trust me if I could I would. But then you will have way more people complain about that test because majority of people use the stock camera app (and it’s a more fair comparison) even though if I manually shot the raw images and edit in Lightroom they would look 10x better

      @@LeeZavitz Maybe use Lightroom mobile Camera app on both phones would be a pretty good comparison? even tho there are better apps for shooting Raw on both phones.. Its was a great comparison video tho! GREAT WORK! 👍

    I think that if Samsung raised the quality of portrait photos to Apple's level, more people would choose Samsung. I know many people who chose Apple just because it takes better portrait photos. Everyone wants to take a cool photo of a child or at a party. It would be nice if Samsung achieved this through an update. Regards

    I think you forgot to mention or he just forgot that you can take the exposure up as high or low as you want to on the iPhone or the Samsung pho he didn't know that you could make the photo look way better I think everybody just points and shoots and they forget that they can take the exposure up or down however they want and they forget about that and that's why one or the other wins sometimes it's because they forget that they can change the exposure to all the way up halfway or all the way down or in between any of them and that is why he's saying the iPhone didn't worse because there are a lot of pictures like this that he didn't do very well on the iPhone or the Samsung photos and He just forgot that you can move the exposure to bring it all the way up or down without having to use that computer you can do it right on the phone you just swipe up and then hit that little I looking icon on the iPhone And then you can take a photo at any exposure and it will be way better than the Samsung phone and vice versa I don't know what the icon looks like on Samsung phones but I'm sure it's the same concept maybe Next time you do this test you can take that into consideration and then you'll get better photos on both of them

    I have to say something.
    I'm not using any of those phones.
    But if you compare the cameras, you have to go all out.
    I think if someone wants to get the best picture you have to use 200mp option that's the simplest thing (i phone doesn't have the) it's not a Samsung's fault.
    You can compare 48mp -50mp
    But if you want to say what is the best camera phone it has to be based on their best performance.
    I don't understand why peoples act 200mp option is just a unwanted thing. It's their for get the best picture.
    Think you have to get a group photo, think what's ganna be the best

    iphone > s24u here, but close.... most because color saturation. Samsung always with this fake ultra blue sky. I was hoping for more neutral colors and no exaggerated HDR optimizations on RAW. Did not happen. And it seems that Samsung exaggerates the "optimization" when the Sun appears. There should be a switch in the settings: Samsung colors Real colors.

    I feel like iphone takes real images but samsung makes them prettier with software therefore creates illusion that it has better camera. It's weird that it can capture moon but can not do the same for human skin in close range.

    • @LeeZavitz
