The skin tones are really really good. I have not seen any phone with this level of accurate skin tones. They both are closer than ever. For day to day usage it feels smartphones will be able to the job for most of the people.

Absolutely amazing what you can get out of the S24 Ultra camera if you are a pro and know what you are doing. The difference in the pictures is hardly noticeable but you will probably see the difference when you need to use them on very large screens and poster's.

That generative fill after the crop was more than terrible. You can clearly see one big issue with the phones is the dynamic range is still poor compared to real cameras. The motorbike shots with the bright sky behind showed a huge advantage to the A7IV. Still phones have made great strides but still trail. Don't forget a phone shot may look amazing on a small screen, but when you compare output from a FF camera to the phone at 100% on a large monitor it's still chalk and cheese and using anything above ISO 400 sees a huge drop off in IQ on smartphones despite AI NR.

Sorry to say that, but S23 U takes very bad pictures until you take nature or architecture type photos. S23 U is a disaster in terms of human photo and moving objects photo (what is completely weird as its movie performacne is stunning). I honestly hate S23U color grading, its noise pattern, and very agressive yet very "cheap" HDR style.
It acts exactly like NIK collection HDR filters, and not a wide dynamic range of the sensor itself. I've used to be a photographer too and I am completely disappointed with Samsung performance. And then I got Xiaomi 13 Ultra in my hands. Bro.. this is actually a phone capable of taking seriuos photos! But X 13 Ultra did not use band 20 (important in Poland) so I switched to Oppo X7 Ultra (which does support B20, and cooperates with.. Hasselblad!). And it seems to perform even better than samsung (in terms of photography). Try one of these (or upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra which uses same sensor as Oppo, but with Leica lenses) and You will know what I mean. Cheers!

I think using pro/raw with the phone puts the phone at a disadvantage . Shooting with the more point and shoot modes you get more computational photography tricks to make the pics look better, like auto hdr.

Owner of S23 Ultra and really those phones are more than enough for a casual user to take some good shoots. Sooner those phones will become more enough for most of us, no difference can be seen for 90% of people, because usually phones got FHD displays. I dont really think people got the budget to have latest phones to see difference as you see as a pro with your gear. My opinion, just go with a phone and enjoy great pics, lets the pros to handle better the expensive mirrorless 🤪

Not necessarily. It's important to show that beginners who want to step into photography can still take good photos with these phones, without rushing into buying a camera and then finding out they don't enjoy photography. Cameras will always have more features, be more capable, and adaptable to every scenario. In my opinion, cameras will always be superior! However, it's nice to see how far these phones have come!

My 1st choice therefore this year and I just bought it. Amazing value king 👑 in early 2024 and probably the winner at the end of the year as well.
