    Very cool video! Those brakes are huge! Question: What happens if you use the pads for carbon ceramics on iron brake rotors? I was at a track day where a gentleman with a Audi TT RS heard noise coming from his brakes. He thought it was weird since he had carbon ceramic brakes and recently serviced them. We pulled off the wheel and the rotor appeared to be iron, and nearly completely eaten away. I wonder if he went into the parts department, got the pads for CMM rotors, then put them on his iron rotors, for whatever reason thinking he had carbon ceramic. (Edit: Looking at the pictures, the rotors were certainly iron and pretty gouged up. The pads appear to have been eaten away, and I'm thinking the pad-backing-plate rivets were eating the rotor.)

    • @motoiq
      @motoiq  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      He could have been driving race pads on the street. Race pads can totally ruin your rotors in a few hundred miles if they are not brought up to racing temperature. Race pads are mostly metal and require heat to develop a metal oxide transfer film on the surface of the rotor to help protect it. In street driving the brakes, don't get hot enough for the film to form and the aggressive pads quickly eat up the rotor, literally in less than two hundred miles in some cases.

    Hi. I just put these CCM front and rear on m6 GT-R. My question is do you have to recalibrate the ABS pump including the brake sensors and pressure valve? The reason im asking this question is due to the brake pedal now is a little lower than before but when I once press the pedal again it goes right on the top.

    Mike, Have to respectfully disagree with you - those OE front calipers definitely look like one-piece (monobloc in Brembo speak) to me. Main difference is that they have removable bridge bolts vs the forged-in bridge on the others. You also can see the small, external brake line, which you wouldn’t see on two-piece calipers.

    • @motoiq
      @motoiq  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got this from a 2019 Japanese Nissan press release which I cant find now. I knew the stock rear brakes were monoblock for sure. Looking at pictures of the stock front calipers I don't see any bolts on the sides either so you are right. The Brembo literature calls calipers with the bridge monoblock but not the bridgeless ones which probably added to my confusion.

    Urine information is always received well but I have to honestly say that the price for carbon ceramic routers is absolutely absurd. It is 3 times what they should cost. And what what we have always done? Is I just take a roller like the ones? I have now. On my GT? R. The J hooks and we have them cryogenically frozen and they last 4 times as long as they do if you don't do this I don't understand why people don't do that it's a simple. Thing to do it only cost a few 100 bucks to do a set of 4. And it's well worth the money because the rotor is gonna last forever. So i'm just not a a fan of the carbon ceramic and neither are several my friends it own g t s.
