Your 'lovely guide' will take most or all of it to himself, no matter how 'nice' you think he is. You need to get donations to a woman direct, perhaps through a non-profit run by a woman and instruct them where it must be used and film it being handed out. That's how it works.

I met a girl from Afghanistan who was studying in the US. She gave me a marvelous hint to learn another language. She was learning Turkish. She said if you can find a book written in the language you want to learn, and you copy the words, writing every day, then when you hear the words ( she was in class only once a week), the words are already in order and correct in grammar and spelling so they stick with you.
The fact that the children wanted pens and notebooks tells me that even the smallest child knows that words are their future. I pray that all of the Afghans can be free to live and move and have their being in learning in safety, growing in wisdom and compassion and happiness! Much love to them all! Thanks for this video!

I had Iranian friends and when the terrorists took over in the 80s, the men had it hard, too. When the women can't work, they lose half the household income. My friends were afraid their mothers and sisters were going insane from being so bored and confined. The men could never rest because when they got home from working extra, they had to escort the women, even to do shopping. It's wrong for everyone except, of course, those who have to control others for some strange reason.

    • @carriepatsalis
      @carriepatsalis  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

Absolutely this.. many men told me life was so hard because their household incomes had been halved. The regime prioritises the genders never seeing each other over food, education and shelter. The leaders (who never show their faces in public) need to get into their Time Machine and go back to the 12th century, ideally with a one way ticket.

Do you know any of the history of what life was like for the rural women and children (70% of the population) during the 20 years of American/nato occupation. There is a good article called "The Other Afghan Women" in the New Yorker (about three years ago) by journalist Anand Gopal. He speaks Pashtu and Farsi and he interviewed women in Helmand Providence and in Kandahar. You can find it at the New Yorker, of if you want I can send you a PDF. You will she why the rural people chose the Taliban over the corrupt occupation as the less of two evils. Gopal also wrote an excellent book called "No Good Men Among the Living). You can also look up "afghan zero units" on youtube. There wasn't much talk of women's rights, or the rights of children going to school when the usa was causing the deaths and suffering. Even the (more) fanatic Taliban of the 90s saved the people from a horrible civil war by mujahedeen warlords (both sides funded by usa, isa, and ksa. At the time of the warlord rule thing were even more strict against women, and rape was very prevailing. I could go on, just saying one needs to know the complicated history and look at it with some perspective. Thanks to God, the Taliban has at least brought peace to Afghanistan. It has only been 3 years, following 45 years of wars and corruption. And all this concern is coming from a govt (usa) that by sanctioning Afghanistan is causing crisis for the rural people (like they did in Iraq, Iran, and any country that they don't agree with. A long story. A country that has no qualms about supplying bombs to kill tens of thousands of children and women, etc, in Gaza. Nobody can go to school there, or work, nor could they in Iraq, etc. Women work in Kabul (banks, govt offices, airport, journalists, doctors) there are learning centers, and madrassas. Girls can have shops in Herat, some girls have a coffee shop, and also a restaurant. Did you see any of that Carrie? Ask your guides. Or check with my friend Somaya Monari who is a female tourist guide in Herat. She can show you women taking advantage of the new situation. Here is her brochure www.traveltoafghanistan.com/?fbclid=IwY2xjawE1Wf5leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHWegv7jAxCtFC4ytY9c0G4TcQBU6qGDANpObgzuCfoJipCydqNHvCRtxlA_aem_gVTrkuKPSY7TaYZ6kc4Dyw

With the soviet and US tormenting it for years, for colonialist reasons, that's real terrorism.
The virtue signalling with you guys is just astounding. You completely overlook the terror your countries meted on this people and want them to accept your ways such a shame.
You somehow believe violence isn't a solution to your people's plight but a solution to others. Don't you see the hypocrisy in all of this?

The poverty may be a distraction and trials. But that is how the times of Jesus عليه السلام were like. Do not let the trials of this world hinder you. The majority of the inhabitants of Paradise are poor believers and the majority of the inhabitants of the Fire are women.
It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Awf رضي الله عنه,
That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"If a woman does her Five (Daily Prayers), Fasts her month (of Ramadan), guards her chastity and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: 'Enter whichever of the gates of Jannah (the Everlasting Gardens of Paradise) you want.'"
[Musnad Ahmad » Musnad 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf رضي الله عنه » Hadith no. 1661 » Shaykh Al-Arnout رحمه الله classed it as Hasan li-Ghayrihi (Hasan because of corroborating evidence) » And It was classed as Hasan by al-Albaani رحمه الله in Saheeh at-Targheeb no. 1932]

The western corruption will hinder many women. The people of error receive worldly stuff so that a trial can exist. The Pharaoh beguiled his people with argument that they have the worldly stuff, while Moses عليه السلام were weak and poor among them. Do not let such tests become a test. If being being is what you covet, go to the UAE and you will find how riches can corrupt Faith. In order to protect Faith, the believers usually remain poor in this life. All the Prophets were poor except for Solomon عليه السلام. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ died while he was in debt to a jewish merchant for barley that he had mortgaged his shield in order to feed his family. Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه repaid the debt. I feel sorry for uncovered western women. Those blue burkas became a trial for them, and hindered them.

Thank you Carrie for making a dedicated video on this point. I have many female Afghan friends who had to stop working and some had to leave the country as the Taliban threatened them since they were working for the former ministry or NGOs that were educating women or helping in other fields. It’s sad to see the veil that covers peoples eyes from the truth when it comes to sympathizing with women’s hardships. And you are right, we have a saying in Arabic, woman is a school. When you educate her, you educate generations. All women stand with each other regardless of race and ethnicity bcse we know what we deserve & share similar difficulties. And when we approach it from a respect towards another’s culture and practices and giving the space for people to be as they are, as you did, that’s the best way. Thank you! As a woman, I connect with other local women everywhere I go because we share a special bond and there is an intersectionality, esp if you are a mother ❤

Taliban in reality is the best thing that happened to Afghanistan. They have taken their country into their own hands. away from the greedy and power-hungry West's clutch. They have made the country somewhat safe for women (women were getting raped/sold on the streets, public safety was in grave jeopardy, and lives were cheap). The country needs a lot of improvement and development. But they are slowly and steadily getting there on their own. The country is developing.
But right now, Modern education is hard to come by even for men.
But hopefully, they will overcome poverty, become a little bit more open-minded (It will come with development), and be able to educate both men and women separately.

Alright, you've convinced me to subscribe! I was so happy that you did bring forth the plight of women in Afghanistan, heartbreaking on so many levels. And what makes it worse, (if that is possible) is that they were getting a taste of more freedoms during the occupation...they could work outside the home, hold supervisory positions and even a place in the governing bodies. And then came the disasterous withdrawel of my country and I KNEW what was coming...and very quickly. First came the new "rules" and proclomations...most requiring new restrictions on women. I was so furious! And that poor, poor lady with no husband, how will she ever manage now? But most heartbreaking was her sweet little girl, what will she grow up to? 😢 I will be donating for sure.

As a country they will not be able to create, innovate, design, develop.. it’s like trying to fly a plane on one engine. Given that in the history of humankind, no country has ever performed well on the model of 50% of the population hidden away only good for making babies, serving food and providing a warm bed, I wonder how exactly the regime thinks they will solve their poverty, education and healthcare crisis.

In the second it took me to whip my British passport out and see that I therefore had my freedom to leave, I saw again how passport privilege is even a thing within their own people.. I have never felt so happy to be British as I did in that moment.
