    Just an FYI... Field service manual states 26-30ft/lbs on the plugs... averaging out on 28ft/lbs is also acceptable. Otherwise good call on the Champions. Copper core champs are a no-brainer on the 4.0.

      Do you need to use anti-seize or die-electric grease?

      ​@@sohca6162 A small application of anti-seize on the plug threads is always a good practice. Just don't use too much. Just enough to get into the grooves of the threads. As you tighten the plugs, the anti-seize should also distribute further around the threads. I've had my fair share of plugs snap on other engines that either had very little applied or seemingly none at all. Provided you have the correct torque specs and proper anti seize application, they should be able to be installed and removed very easily and cleanly. If you have the coil pack variant of this engine, Just do simple things like inspecting the pack to make sure no build of dirt or other junk will be a problem.

    I have a 2000 and on the firewall it says original plugs are ngk. Have you tried ngk plugs? Curious if it might run better with the champion plugs.

      They would work the same my 2001 uses RC12ECC champion plugs according to the manual.
