The ps5 pro is either where you’ll game or not lol it’s very simple. If it’s too expensive as they say get a more expensive pc lmao
You WILL be forced to buy a PS5 pro. Developers will complain about base ps5, like how they do for Series S. Sony will withhold features from base ps5 and force other developers to do the same. Gaming got super expensive.
Ps5 digital (with stand) $399 Ps5 pro (only digital): $699 + no stand ($29) $728 vs $399. 82 % markup 4 YEARS later for 45% more performance??? What is sony smoking? This is a $599 console at most
It's not even 45% more performance. The CPU is the same but overclocked by 10%. The only real increase is the GPU which only makes it faster, not better.
@TheWholeGrainBread_Real If the CPU changed it would no longer be a ps5. It would a ps6. Ps4 pro has same cpu as ps4. If the cpu changes the games would not recognise the console
Sony made promises of standard 4k 60fps when they marketed the OG PS5 and even put 8k on the box originally. Now they’re telling us we need PS5Pro for that. They think they’re going to fool those of us on the fence this time again…they’re wrong.
Technically they were not wrong that the PS5 is capable of outputting those kinds of resolution and frame rates but obviously didn't mention that this was not gonna happen in most games as the hardware is just not powerful enough .
The price is egregious, the demonstrations were unimpressive, but the worse is them showcasing PS4 games 5 years into the PS5 because the current PS5 exclusive catalogue is sparse and with nothing at all for the near future.
Final Fantasy XVI looked really bad for being a PS5 exclusive, not the kind of game they could use for a presentation like this either or a game that justified its exclusivity. This generation is sorely lacking in exclusive content to justify even migrating to the base PS5 and judging by the numbers, almost half of the people didn't care and stayed with their PS4s, idk how many of those migrated to PC tho. In my case, I did, sorta, and it seems the PS5 Pro is only on par with a gaming laptop. Everything they showcased are things gaming laptops already do
You know what would have really helped the PS5 Pro announcement? Showing an actual new game running on the PS5 Pro, not just a bunch of old games. This would have been the perfect opportunity to showcase something like Insomniac’s Wolverine game.
@@Dis2good They didn't need to show multiple new games at this reveal. All they needed to do was show a SINGLE new game. 99% of people don't care about seeing these older games getting a minor performance/graphical boost. They want to see how new games will perform on this hardware.
@@albertogarrido6411 wait till the next generation of PS six or even the series X next generation whatever they call it, , probably be close to $800 realistically.
It’s kind of surprising to me that Sony can’t read the room. There has been talk of Sony being anti-consumer, willing to nickel and dime their customers, And that they don’t have enough new games. This announcement literally touched on all of those subjects, but in a way that paints Sony in an even worse light. Does Sony even have a PR team? Or is this just an indication that Sony really does feel like they can do whatever they want because they’re at the top?
They shat the bed, the floor, the curtains, the ceiling, the door, everything. No new games, no new design, no disc drive, no stand, couldn't hire an editor to show the differences in resolution, couldn't hire an intern to record gameplay with an fps counter, $300 more than the non-Pro equivalent... All the signs of a mass misappropriation of funds at PlayStation. I'm calling it right now: someone is stealing money in that company.
It's poor but Xbox isn't doing a good job either I'd say they're doing worse are going to a state that's unrecoverable. The PS5 Pro even with it's ridiculous price will still push some units Xbox due to gamepass has ruined their sales as there's no incentive to buy games when game pass hell there's no real reason to own an Xbox when you can literally play anywhere and now that games are going to the PS they're direct competitor something Sony would never do as blatantly it's the writing on the wall and as an Xbox fan this might be my last one. But I still want to own both systems regardless but Xbox has become a Joke, Playstation has just become Greedy.
@@mbphilipblack8993 You're 100% right. Xbox is unsalvageable; they're almost 50 million consoles behind the PS5. They have a less than zero chance of making a comeback, which is why all of their future software is being developed for PlayStation as well. PlayStation's business feels like it's being run by criminals. I'm not joking: I wholeheartedly believe their business would fail multiple audits. There's greed, there's incompetence, and then there's illegality. Their decisions all lean towards a lack of finances; which is literally impossible for a business that makes billions of dollars in profit each year. How does a multi-billion dollar business fail to hire a $30 an hour person?
Nah, this is simply Sony being arrogant and thinking they can do anything and succeed, just like they did when going from PS2 to the PS3. Hopefully this bites them as hard as that arrogance did.
Funny how no one mentions how much additional money you have to spend every few months buying another controller since they fail that often. Easily another $100+ a year at the least.
Also if people want to play their physical library they have to pay for the disc drive and the vertical stand for those that need it upright. That's gonna be a total of $800.
@@lottji Hate seeing these BS comments blaming people for their controllers failing, controllers are just made worse now and you have been lucky. I guess broadcasting a video in 1080p with downgraded bitrate to demonstrate graphic fidelity differences was a bad idea from the start. People felt like they were invited in a contest of finding the 7 differences between the two pictures for 10 minutes...
not just that, but then revealing the price tag just kills any and all hype anyone could even have at that point. 800 euro for a PS5 pro is way too much, i'll gladly shove a bit more money for a proper PC that can do everything, instead of a PS5 pro what can only play games and watch videos/streams. I already got a PS5, why would I even be even remotely interested in the PS5 pro (also that my PC is stronger than the PS5 pro, which again can do more than a console)
@@DarkDyllon globally mobile and PC gaming has been on the rise, this will likely to accelerate things... I would save the money for a new GPU for my kids...
Exactly. Most games they showed like TLOU2 or Ghost of Tsushima are already pretty flawless on the base PS5. Even games that “could” be improved like Alan Wake 2 don’t really need it.
@@lottji Ghost of Tsushima already runs at 60fps in fidelity mode to begin with, even digital foundry said the performance mode for that game is pointless on PS5
The curious thing is that when you have to explain to someone in a direct comparison what actually looks better, it's essentially a statement that the improvement is so minimal that it's barely noticeable. You can really tell the difference when you compare it to PC games running on ultra settings.
I've literally waited this long to get a PS5, as soon as the slim version was announced, there was rumor of the "Pro" so I waited for that. Missed out on Resi 4 Remake, FF7 Rebirth. At this point i might as well just get the Slim then.
Honestly, for me, it was the disk drive. Pro versions are always expensive, and their prices always go down. But this whole digital-only future thing is annoying; it doesn't have to be that way. Companies just want to control everything and squeeze you dry.
For me it's the whole negative view on the customer side and echo-system that is going all in on digital. And yeah not including a stand is the worst part. a 10 cent component for 30$ I have been supporting this industry since 1980's and have bought to many computers and video game consoles. That i almost threw up during the showcase when the pricing and "bundle" were revealed. I then realised one thing, this is not going to stop, not going to change nor becoming cheaper. But i do not have to support this negative downward spiral
Destin, this is only a small part of the reason why it failed. Confusion regarding the visuals aside, the pricing and intentional decision to nickel and dime customers for the stand and disc drive is what's throwing off customers. At 800+ dollars for the whole console, it becomes easily feasible to build a competent PC

This is basically how much you will be paying for the PlayStation 5 Pro that all these big channels seem to be forgetting is going to cost players even more money. *$700.00 + Tax for PS5 PRO Console.* *$80.00-For a PS5 Disc Drive.* *$30.99-PS5 Console Stand.* *Which totals $810.00 + Tax.* Then Compile the cost of the lowest Playstation Plus service which most Gamers will be able to afford but will also add on to the cost of the PlayStation 5 Pro experience which is basically. *$80.00-PS+ Essential* And if you want a new controller to go with that if you want to have a friend play with you on the PlayStation 5 Pro here is the cost of the controller, and because of PlayStation adding a few more dollars to the cost of the controller which was very sneaky of PlayStation. *$75.00-All PS5 Controllers Price* *$965.00 + Tax* is the subtotal that you will have to pay in total for the PlayStation 5 Pro experience with the complete set of everything.
I’ve watched TH-camrs talk mad crap about how the prices too expensive but near the end of the video they’ll say I’m still gonna pre-order one for review. So basically you’re going to buy one anyway and use it because you’re not gonna return it once you pre-order it.

For those that it applies (AKA: Big TH-camrs who make a living from it) it can make sense since they can review and inform anyone else about it. Unless those YTers you have seen fit that bill, then yeah, they foolish man. 😆
We need to be honest about the price. With a drive and stand we are looking at $805 plus tax. For that, I can buy or build a decent computer which can play games. It might not be 17 teraflops, but it would be adequate, and also a computer. This is not cost-effective unless you have money to burn and are fanatical about console gaming. Both Sony and Microsoft promised 4K gaming at up to 120 FPS. Now Sony is telling us to spend $800 to get real 4K gaming at 60 FPS. It might be too strong to say that they lied to us, but I am feeling misled. The PS5 Pro would need to be twice as fast to do what they are promising. It is only 67% more powerful than the PS5, which is why they claimed "near fidelity mode" at 60 FPS. The PS5 and XBox Series X are good consoles. I see very little reason to spend $800 to get a better frame rate in fidelity mode. Neither will anyone else. The PS5 is four years old. Chip technology has improved a great deal in four years. After four years, they should be able to give us a more powerful system for the same $500 price.
The PS5 Pro should be no more than $550 plan and simple. The core PS5 should be no more than $400 right now but as low as $350. You don't want to come down on price fine, but quick going up on it as well. It's not our fault your making trash games when you have studios with proven track records.
@@angiwells6897a 700$ console should include a disc drive though, and obviously the stand. Maybe with a disc drive, and the 2 terabyte it has in console storage (I think), it‘d justify the price of the thing a bit, but with no disc drive and stand, anything above 600$ is nonsensical for the slight graphical improvement.
Dude just said “I’m broke and can’t afford it” pretty simple. You guys want new tech for a cheap price. You guys are living in the real world or you still living inside the Meta Quest world? 😂
Until the Wii came along, consoles were *always* about graphics. The Console Wars (SNES vs Genesis vs Jaguar) of the early 90s were literally all about graphics, graphics, graphics. In the 1980s, consoles were literally competing based on how closely to the arcade versions their games were - based largely on visuals. I could go on and on. Games are obviously critical to a system’s success, but to say consoles were ‘not about graphics’ in the past is patently false.
To be fair, I don't think the shadows in that Spiderman demo look worse on PS5 Pro. That is probably a difference in the shadows actually being raytraced now instead of being a shadow map. In raytracing, shadows get increasingly blurry the farther away it is from the source of the shadow.
@DestinL I can see how you could feel that way, but simulating reality is an upgrade. The eventual PC release will have this same option I'm sure. You may be able to disable that in the options. I agree this was a bad presentation in general and I certainly don't think it is worth the cost but I can't knock them for that shadow but your point about having a developer explain the difference is valid.
The killzone and resistance games came out in an era when shooters were big. Halo was king and Sony needed an answer to that. Now COD is where everyone gets their shooter fix. I would like to see them at least attempt to remaster those games at improved fidelity and framerates but it will likely never happen as they don’t see the monetary sense in it
This is why Xbox needs to remain in business. Because if it's not, Sony's gonna be the new Apple and charge you huge amounts of money for mediocre products. Congratulations Playstation owners! Hope you're satisfied! Get used to this! 😄👍
I wanted to get the pro, but after coming to realization that I would have to fork over $850 To get not only the system, the stand, the disk drive? Just to play three year old games with no new games showing promise in the future.
@@GOATxAlpha "Technical promise" no, if you have a PS5 already, don't do it. The "technical promise" is simply better graphical fidelity. It won't help FPS much unless the game was GPU bound, and even then, expect 60FPS at the max. 120FPS requires a faster CPU, and the Pro's CPU is almost identical to the base PS5, it's scary. And even the boosted frequency mode puts the CPU in line with an Xbox Series X. Otherwise, you're paying 850$ for a GPU upgrade that's not worth it. This is coming from someone who spent money on upgrading from a 980ti to a 4080. That was a worthwhile price, but I won't be buying the 50-Series Nvidia cards or the next gen AMD Cards unless the performance boost over my 4080 is over 100% in all aspects, RT included. Don't wow yourself over the promises of the PS5 Pro... remember, the PS5 Base was advertised as 4K120FPS. Now the PS5 Pro is properly advertised as 4K60FPS.
You think that by 2046 we'll get a locked 60fps? I dont know why they keep talking about 4-8k gaming when that crap just kills any chance ever getting 60fps.
They didn't talk about everything people need to know, like storage space, or if the $80 disk drive is actually compatible . That add-on is for the slim but would it fit? There was nothing saying "100% digital only." The presentation was such an amateur job and disappointing for a large company that's been in this for 30 years

If they are going to add the disclaimers *vertical stand sold separately, why not advertise it with the disk drive since they added a disclaimer for that too? They should advertise it the way that it comes out of the box. For now, I wouldn’t complain about the price if the value was there, but I fail to see the value to give up my current PS5 that came with a disk drive. I would be paying $280 more than what I paid, and I’m not seeing a $280 improvement.

When there is no competition this happens. If xbox were actually competitive, and there were comparable series x pro, Sony would not dare to go with this price
If Sony doesn't see Xbox as competition, then why do they even bother paying for timed exclusives solely to keep games off Xbox like with Silent Hill 2 Remake? Worse than the PS3 in adjusted dollars, and that console launched like a lead balloon.
@juliothom2408 Agreed because you mentioned PS3. The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) faced several controversies throughout its lifecycle, including issues related to its price, hardware, firmware updates, and legal battles. Here are some of the key controversies: 1. High Launch Price (2006): Problem: When the PS3 was launched, it was priced at $499 for the 20GB model and $599 for the 60GB model. This high price made it one of the most expensive consoles at the time. Reaction: Consumers and media criticized the pricing, which hurt initial sales. Sony defended the price, stating that the PS3 offered superior technology, such as the Blu-ray player, which was a new feature then. 2. Removal of "OtherOS" Feature (2010): Problem: Sony initially allowed users to install alternative operating systems (like Linux) on the PS3 through the "OtherOS" feature. However, in 2010, Sony removed this feature via a firmware update, citing security concerns. Reaction: This upset a significant number of users, particularly in the hacking and modding community. It led to a class-action lawsuit, and prominent hacker George "Geohot" Hotz filed a lawsuit against Sony. The removal also fueled an increase in PS3 hacking attempts. 3. Hacking and the George Hotz Lawsuit (2011): Problem: Following the removal of OtherOS, hacker George Hotz managed to jailbreak the PS3, giving users control over the system to run unauthorized software, including pirated games. Sony sued Hotz, leading to a highly publicized legal battle. Reaction: The hacking community saw this as a challenge to their rights to modify hardware they owned. Hotz eventually settled with Sony out of court, but the event further polarized consumers, with some siding with Hotz and others supporting Sony’s right to protect its platform. 4. 2011 PlayStation Network (PSN) Breach: Problem: In April 2011, the PlayStation Network was hacked, compromising the personal data of 77 million users. The network was down for 23 days, making it one of the largest data breaches in gaming history. Reaction: Sony faced a public relations crisis due to the extended downtime and the massive loss of user data. Consumers were outraged by the lack of transparency, as it took Sony several days to inform the public of the breach. Sony eventually offered free games and services as compensation, but the incident damaged its reputation. 5. Backward Compatibility Issues: Problem: Early PS3 models were backward compatible with PlayStation 2 (PS2) games due to the inclusion of dedicated PS2 hardware. However, to cut costs, Sony removed this feature in later versions, leaving users unable to play their older games on newer PS3 models. Reaction: The removal of backward compatibility disappointed many fans, especially those who had large PS2 game libraries. Sony faced criticism for changing a feature that was initially advertised as a selling point. 6. YLOD (Yellow Light of Death): Problem: The PS3 suffered from hardware issues like the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD), similar to the Xbox 360's Red Ring of Death. This hardware failure indicated that the console had overheated or experienced another significant problem. Reaction: Many users were frustrated by this issue, as it often required expensive repairs or a complete replacement. Some criticized Sony for not addressing the problem more proactively. 7. Cell Processor Development Controversy: Problem: The PS3's Cell processor, developed in collaboration with IBM and Toshiba, was extremely powerful but notoriously difficult to develop games for. Developers complained about the complexity of programming for the PS3, leading to some games being poorly optimized compared to the Xbox 360 versions. Reaction: While Sony boasted about the power of the Cell processor, some developers criticized the company for making a console that was harder to work with, which affected the performance and quality of multi-platform games. Overall, despite these controversies, the PS3 managed to sell over 87 million units worldwide and became a beloved console for many players, especially after overcoming its early struggles.
Major flop. And not because of the no disc drive. It’s not 1990 and physical media is dead. It’s an over priced mediocre upgrade that doesn’t even get 120 FPS at the current quality fidelity. I have plenty of disposable income (assumed targeted audience) I rather over pay to get the switch 2 asap.
@@KesterStudioslet’s look at sales… oh wait 95% of game sales are digital 😂 Can you show me your music disk collection? Wait, they’re all on your phone? Digitally?
I personally, could care less about Ray tracing. It’s a nice addition, but I believe the higher frame rates are the priority and nothing that has been shown is worth the upgrade for the price.
Not sure if anyone else is talking about it but if the PS5 Pro is $699. Then the next Xbox/PS6 will be right there as well. If not maybe another $100-$200 more. This needs to be the Gen that bridges the gap between Console and PC!
Curious about the 45fps you mention a few times regarding the cnet footage. Never heard anyone doing that. Would be in 24fps if they going for “filmic look” right ? Or 48fps maybe.
I was watching the interview with Richard about his thoughts on this but then the video got taken down. I hope it'll be uploaded up again. And great points you make here, Destin.
The fact that there's no new software to showcase the PS5 Pro is crazy. Showcasing 2-4 year old content in higher fidelity as the selling point is insane.
The problem wasnt the presentation. Its definitely the price. Even if the presentation was spot on, it would still be in the shadow of the price. $599 with disc drive or $499 digital would have sold. And also cut the price of PS5 $100. Sony, from what ive heard, never really profits off the consoles, they profit off the games. I guess Sony needs to pay for their yachts.
Ever since the Xbox one and ps4 we’ve been marketed that these consoles are capable of 1080p 60fps. Xbox one x and ps4 pro they told us they’re capable of 4k 30fps on graphics and 1080p 60fps on performance. Xbox series x and ps5 we were told they’re capable of 4k 120fps. Now they’re trying to tell us this ps5 pro is capable of….. what? Better clarity on distant backgrounds???? Smoother frames???? You mean the same talking points since the Xbox one and ps4????? We are in the era of diminishing returns. $700 for this console far over priced.
There's only one thing they needed to do: gameplay of GTA 6 running as "enhanced" on the ps5 pro and explained all the things in game in the way you mentioned. There is no PC version yet so the ps5 pro would be the definite version. WIN.
Great breakdown of the failings of the reveal trailer. I know people are in shock from the price, but the way they handled this presentation is a big part of their problem
maybe it's just me, but companies need to stop using ray tracing as a selling point. You're never going to sell me a system/game on the premise of ray tracing. it adds very little to the scene most of the time. especially considering the performance hit that usually comes with it.
What is going on with this current modern era of Entertainment?? From most tv shows, to big franchise movies, new music and huge crisis in the video-games industry, everything is just dropping massively in quality and seems to be getting worse not better.
Insane price aside, they talked all this big 3 stuff up with their version of DLSS and a GPU with 67% more CUs but it all just got translated as Fidelity mode at 60 fps. Everyone already has 60 fps at home.
People who don’t mind 30 fps don’t see the difference. I am very sensitive for motion judder. I hate it in movies. It was very evident for me, the difference between 30 fps quality, 60 fps performance and the new 60 fps quality mode. People often said, “if the ps5 pro can offer quality graphics in performance framerate then I’m happy” well it does that, on select titles. I want to know how it would be implemented to more games, but I guess it’s up to the devs. And that might take a while. Although. Most ps4 games I own, have the pro enhanced tag on the box. So I think for the next years we are going to see many more ps5 pro enhanced titles
Thank you for a great criticism of their presentation that is actually educated and informed. You and Digital Foundry are the only people so far I've seen doing a good job at criticizing this announcement.
Here is how to fix it: 1. 599 with 1tb ssd along with 699 2tb as an option. 2. Black/silver color for both ps and controller 3. Comes with pre-installed astrobot with ps5 PRO enhancements (so had to move the astrobot release for novemeber) 4. Showacse improvements for recent games that struggled on ps5 (wukong, dragons dogma 2, etc) 5. Tease the ps5 pro within the astro playroom - like a themed live event.
This shows how much cutting is happening in marketing departments right now. Apple, who typically has the most beautiful shots and transitions industry wide, cut a lot of corners in their latest iPhone event. The PS5 Pro is simply too expensive and feels like a margin shift passed on to the customer.

After so many years of lies about the real performance of the "next generation console," they finally decided to be honest.
The price is egregious, the demonstrations were unimpressive, but the worse is them showcasing PS4 games 5 years into the PS5 because the current PS5 exclusive catalogue is sparse and with nothing at all for the near future.
Honestly makes you wonder... Could an entire catalogue be filled by the cancelled PS5 games at this point?

Consoles used to be about features and games, not graphics.

The price is very high for a console.
Here are some of the key controversies:
1. High Launch Price (2006):
Problem: When the PS3 was launched, it was priced at $499 for the 20GB model and $599 for the 60GB model. This high price made it one of the most expensive consoles at the time.
Reaction: Consumers and media criticized the pricing, which hurt initial sales. Sony defended the price, stating that the PS3 offered superior technology, such as the Blu-ray player, which was a new feature then.
2. Removal of "OtherOS" Feature (2010):
Problem: Sony initially allowed users to install alternative operating systems (like Linux) on the PS3 through the "OtherOS" feature.
3. Hacking and the George Hotz Lawsuit (2011):
Problem: Following the removal of OtherOS, hacker George Hotz managed to jailbreak the PS3, giving users control over the system to run unauthorized software, including pirated games.
4. 2011 PlayStation Network (PSN) Breach:
Problem: In April 2011, the PlayStation Network was hacked, compromising the personal data of 77 million users.
5. Backward Compatibility Issues:
Problem: Early PS3 models were backward compatible with PlayStation 2 (PS2) games due to the inclusion of dedicated PS2 hardware.
6. YLOD (Yellow Light of Death):
Problem: The PS3 suffered from hardware issues like the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD), similar to the Xbox 360's Red Ring of Death. This hardware failure indicated that the console had overheated or experienced another significant problem.
Reaction: Many users were frustrated by this issue, as it often required expensive repairs or a complete replacement. Some criticized Sony for not addressing the problem more proactively.
7. Cell Processor Development Controversy:
Problem: The PS3's Cell processor, developed in collaboration with IBM and Toshiba, was extremely powerful but notoriously difficult to develop games for.
11:14 they were showing the ray tracing of the sky reflecting on the waters which looks realistic what water looks like during daytime.
Ah yes IGN, those clowns that gave Alien Isolation a 5.9/10.
Who is going to spend 700$+ to replay games, you can't release a new system without software. No one cares about raytracing..
Who was going to pay$500 to play old Xbox games....?
🤦🏿😎
Major flop. And not because of the no disc drive. It’s not 1990 and physical media is dead.
It’s an over priced mediocre upgrade that doesn’t even get 120 FPS at the current quality fidelity.
I have plenty of disposable income (assumed targeted audience)
I rather over pay to get the switch 2 asap.
Youre crazy if you think physical media is dead.
@@KesterStudios Dead. The sooner you accept it. The sooner you can move on.
@@KesterStudioslet’s look at sales… oh wait 95% of game sales are digital 😂
Can you show me your music disk collection? Wait, they’re all on your phone? Digitally?
@@realJohnLabThe majority of people bought the PS5 with diskdrive over the digital version. People are not letting physical media go that easily.
I only buy physical. Also collect ps1, ps2, dreamcast, snes games and other consoles. I like having the cases and play them in the original form.
You nailed it ! They really didn't know how to convey what the PS5 Pro could do very well.
The simple fact they literally can’t market it tells you how much it’s needed. At 600 this would be a tough sell.
I personally, could care less about Ray tracing. It’s a nice addition, but I believe the higher frame rates are the priority and nothing that has been shown is worth the upgrade for the price.
When the biggest shock of the reveal is the price, it was a failure
CNET recording and uploading their own video at 30fps is the most hilariously useless CNET moment I’ve seen in a long, long time
The CNET video decisions are wild.
I’ll be passing. That price point is just crazy for what you get.
Less than 10 minutes for a New Console Reveal... Pitiful
700$ is not much it will future prove me to 2028 when I will buy the Ps6
Enjoy paying for games 😂
Sony has lost the plot It was an absolute disaster.
Waste of money either wait for the next gen or buy a PC
£700…Noooo disk drive….No new games…Noooo Sony…🤬‼️🤬
There's only one thing they needed to do: gameplay of GTA 6 running as "enhanced" on the ps5 pro and explained all the things in game in the way you mentioned. There is no PC version yet so the ps5 pro would be the definite version. WIN.
Great breakdown of the failings of the reveal trailer. I know people are in shock from the price, but the way they handled this presentation is a big part of their problem
This is basically greed and stupidity no good games I've been an gamer for a very long time sony needs to realize that nobody asked for a ps5 pro.
They are also promising to sometimes deliver what they promised with the original PS5 (the example they showed for Hogwarts Legacy was 30fps)
Sony basically admitted upscaling 720p, 900p, 1080p to 4 K wasn't working out. Now they're barely surpassing XSX 1440p to 4K upscale SAD AF
I am so sick of this PS5 Pro reading there no 60fps for old games
The base PS5 is powerful enough by itself, it has the graphics I already need through most games, game studios just suck at optimization sometimes.
yea base ps5 is quite impressive... I'm really enjoying it
The base is plenty powerful enough to play them PS4 games. No doubt, more than enough power
maybe it's just me, but companies need to stop using ray tracing as a selling point. You're never going to sell me a system/game on the premise of ray tracing. it adds very little to the scene most of the time. especially considering the performance hit that usually comes with it.
The big problem is that there isnt even any current gen games, what do we need a pro version. companies arent even trying anymore
Will it support dolby vision
I'm just getting a pc at this point.
Thank you for a great criticism of their presentation that is actually educated and informed. You and Digital Foundry are the only people so far I've seen doing a good job at criticizing this announcement.
Here is how to fix it:
1. 599 with 1tb ssd along with 699 2tb as an option.
2. Black/silver color for both ps and controller
3. Comes with pre-installed astrobot with ps5 PRO enhancements (so had to move the astrobot release for novemeber)
4. Showacse improvements for recent games that struggled on ps5 (wukong, dragons dogma 2, etc)
