They are already prototyping the PS6 as we speak and odds are very strong that the PS6 will not have a Disk Drive. Sony is pushing for full digital games.
Steve from Gamers Nexus once said that 1% price increase per 1% performance boost is stagnation, not to mention that 1) 864p60 is about the same performance you got with an rx 6700 or rx 7600 2) the percentages on the PS5 Pro are worst its 75%/1.21% price increase per 45%/1% performance boost (Digital OG PS5 its about 400, Digital its 700)
As a long time PlayStation fan, I'll be among the first to grab popcorn when Sony gets humbled. "Pro" consoles completely miss the point of console gaming. Its supposed to be simple. Its where physical media SHOULD be king. They miss the mark on both those points.
Every time a new thing comes out that looks awful were always told "it's not meant for you" Then who is it meant for? It's a mass produced mainstream console using casual games like Spider-Man and Ratchet to market it that will be sold and advertised at Walmarts around the world. If it's not meant for the general consumer then who is it for and why are they acting like it's meant to be there for the general consumer?
what sent my sides into orbit was someone tried to make a point 'nobody is gonna buy this at 700 dollars.. well the 3DO would like a word with you' .... not only did that release in a different time, but the console flopped. why would you EVER use that as comparison, if anything, it makes the pro's price look worse lmao though tbh, what else did I expect from people who think they're going to release games exclusively on the ps5 pro. lol
I am a big PlayStation fan; however, I see the PS5 Pro as pointless upgrade, especially if you already use the disc reader as you'll need to fork over almost $80 if you want to still play the games you have on disc or be able to watch Blu-ray and DVD movies without needing to buy a Blu-ray player. My main questions are: (1) Why is it significantly more money than the OG PS5 or the slim model? (2) Why was the CPU not given a significant upgrade? (3) Why is there no PS5 Pro going to be available with a disc drive already included? This does not seem there is difference like the difference between a PS4 and PS4 Pro. I really hope this backfires on Sony.
8:13 there’s no lack of competition bro. If that were true, why did Jim Ryan fly all over the world shouting “the sky is falling!” a couple years ago??? Sony just knows their fanboys ignore Xbox completely unless they’re gonna talk shit.
"The biggest advantage console has had over PC is price to performance.", I'd add not having to tinker with hardware, operating systems, and worry about viruses to that.
@@ELpeaceonearth I splurged for the 4090 due to VR and stuff (and AMD requires twice the VRAM for near the same performance), but I'm good until the 6xxx series or 7xxx series. This was an upgrade from a 2080.. I see it lasting a while since so many new games are going to DLSS/FSD versus actually coding them properly.
What gets me is they thought the Pro would equal a 4090... Im an Xbox guy going PC soon and even I know the next Gen consoles won't match the 4090. And it by itself on the $2k models is almost as much as my entire PC build which isn't no slouch.
I always hate it when they say "this doesn't effect you", cause it does. Rewarding industry shenanigans (something that sadly has become a standard since gaming became mainstream) only will lead to them raising that and others bars; and raising over the entire spectrum. Nor am I buying the "enthusiast argument", not that I consider PS to be a luxury brand like ponies tend to do. But when a real luxury brands release something for their purist customers, they actually make it worth their while. Not to mention those kind of customers wouldn't accept it either if they don' t make good on their promises. And indeed shortly after the release of the PS5, SIE was stated that they weren't making a loss on every unit sold. So the argument that they don't want to sell it at loss anymore, doesn't fit the bill either in this context. And although they sold the PS5 at a profit, it didn't lived up to expectations. Since we know PS want players to leave their PS4' s behind, it doesn't make sense to release something only for their purist customers than.
It's double the price but not double the power or performance. If it was an extra $150 or something like that then it would be reasonably priced, you could push the boat out a bit for the upgrade to the base model. You're only wasting about $250 for nothing if you look at it that way.
I'm jealous of one thing. I'm jealous of Sony mining these suckers' wallets with such complete savagery, while the people being scammed are denying being scammed despite it being so excruciatingly obvious.

@@grthjryrd7552 why aren't you a sunshine , no i don't own a PS5 so guess what i'm guessing but last i checked the disc drive of the ps5 is rather deep and non removable and then someone saying oh you need to remove the disc drive questions are gonna be raised . now sony could have used most of the metal of the ps5 as a heatsink so the main cooler on the CPU/GPU can be stuck to the main metal which means to get in the ps5 you need to also need to instantly remove the main heatsink which causes the issues other people have been getting that the liquid metal leaked into the rest of the PS5 essentially ending the PS5 permanently . again all guessing cause i don't know what a PS5 looks like under all the plastic .
Oh s***, thx for reminding me that you can't use your old discdrive without deregister for the new ps5, so is that bad because the 60fps is not guaranteed for the new ps5 pro
If the PS5 was an open platform and was less restricted in terms of game exclusivity? Then $700 would be somewhat justified. If you can completely customise which services and even system OS to install. That would be infinitely better than what Sony is currently trying to market.
The recession excuse is completely the opposite. The cost of living is growing faster than wages. Interest rates are increasing to make people LESS able to buy things to make companies drop prices to PREVENT a recession. A console that is this expensive is the problem... Also have a look at the price of a PS5 here in Australia then compare it to the pre-order price on the PS5 Pro. It's a fun little thought experiment
He's so obsessed with 60 fps but won't spend on a PC instead, which has been given 60fps for a decade or so Edit: It's actually so stupid that dudes like him would pay 300$ for a "slight improvement" but in reality if you go from a 2060 Super to a 3070, you can literally go from a 1080p 60fps to a literal 1440p 60 fps experience for 100-120$ more
I'd rather just waste my money buying 1 Q-tip for £700, except I'll buy the digital version that has no cotton, only the stick.. Might just do it out of pure spite and put it where I'd have put my consoles..
I have the PS4(PRO), and I don't think it was a scam when I bought it. At that point in the generation, the base PS4 had been showing problems in certain games. It could be a below 1080p resolution that would look soft to my eyes, or a framerate that had problems hitting it's target. Be it 30 or 60. The difference was the price. I managed to get a christmas deal on my model, and paid 360$ for it. But even it I had to pay the full 400$ for it, it would still be a good deal. After the base console was already 4 years on the market. But with the PS5(PRO), the price of 700$-800$ + is just a greedy joke. It's basically the same greedy move that Nvidia made with the Geforce 4000. Where you don't get any improvement to performance, at the same price as the last generation. So that's why a 4060 Ti, is minimally faster than a 3060 Ti. And costs the same 400$. Where as the 500$ 70 class GPU from last generation,, got replaced by a 600$ + price point(the + is for different vendor price/country you live in). The whole industry is garbage at this point, if they can't offer you any decent upgrade in 4 years. At the same or slightly higher price point. The base PS5 is still not reduced, and prob never will. Also you have to remember. When you are comparing the price of the PRO model to the base one. We have to compare it to the digital edition, that has no disc drive. So in essence a PS5(PRO) is at minimum "300$ +" over a base PS5. Lastly. A normal 4060 is not better than a PS5(PRO) if we are talking GPU speed/raster. At this crazy point in out current console generation. It's just better to take that 700$, add another 300$ to it. And build a decent mid-range rig. You are gonna save so much cash with the better gaming deals on the PC store fronts. Like Steam for example. Plus all the other things a PC gives you, over a machince that's only made for gaming.
Keeping the Standard PS5 Never going to waist money on the PS5 Pro and To sell a stand and the dicsdrive separately is unforgivable in my opinion. From UK And I m not supporting the PS5 pro Rather get a steamdeck instead With that kind of money
Where I am I can get a brand new limited edition switch between 200 to 250 I definitely think they Nintendo do allow sale's so with that being said they actually do give you chance not pay full price but you know......

Personally I’m the target audience but at this price better spend some more and get a 4080 or a 5080 when it comes out. What I saw from comparison videos it does not justify the price. The difference is minimal. My graphics want to look sharp no antialiasing nothing pure resolution sharpness
¥119,850 = £659 €799 = £850 $699 =£590 £699 = $913 = €850 = $913 The money I was going to spend on the Pro is now going on a second hand Digital edition which will be jailbreaked. Single player games for free.
im pretty sure the pc equivalent to the ps5pro is like a midrange rx 6000 series and im pretty sure this is the first implementation of fsr 4.0 as amd said it would be ai focused and restricted to rx 6000 series and above moving forward. the ps5 is rocking rx 5700 or rx 5700xt performance (with more vram with the unified memory of the ps5). its kinda sad to see the highlight of last gen refresh (upscaled 4k games) is still some how the talking point of this gen refresh. this move kinda reminds me of the first gen of ray tracing and the reception it got.
the playstation portal DID NOT SELL WELL. it sold only half a million units, and the psedge was the bestselling accessory of last year... in march and ONLY march.
I'm the guy that's gonna come out on top! I'm buying a ps5 pro and I'm gonna flip it for $1800 and by then, nvidia should have released a date and price of the 5090 😊
Hardware-wise, the PS5 Pro is certainly worth it. I am sure a gaming PC of comparable power would cost at least as much. But PS5 Pro or Gaming PC, my question is the same: Power is great but what games are going to make use of it? I don't have an 8K TV so that aspect is useless to me. And the current PS5 hasn't really been truly exploited yet so I can't see any games coming for the Pro. And that is the same for a PC - all that power is nice but totally useless since the games aren't there. What are we gonna play on it? More Fortnite/Overwatch?
You think the EU and UK prices suck, us South Africans are paying PS5 Pro prices for the base PS5($856 conversion), imagine how much we are gonna pay for the pro
“It will sell well” ok so they buy stuff because it’s popular regardless of quality, what an argument Also I’d like to add I feel like they’re starting to treat consoles like cameras. “Oh you can get a cheap base one but if you want the real good stuff they’ll be way more” it’s a video game console, I really don’t know how much higher the price ceiling can go considering this just plays video games and movies. For the same price you get a pc that does the same and you can edit videos, buy older gen games, not pay to play online etc
The real scam is the people who have had the highest tier PSN sub since day 1 of PS5. $160/year x 4 Year = $640 to make use of the $500 console. That is $1140, now tack on $700 for the Pro, $30 for the Stand and $80 for the disc drive and that's another $810. That puts us at $1950.00 and the PS6 wont be until at earlier summer or more likely November of 2025 with it being more likely some time in 2026. So add on another $320 for PSN... And we arrive at the Sony "Enthusiast" spending $2270.00 USD without even factoring in games or a monitor cost. For that same amount back at the release of the PS5 in 2020 instead you could have had a PC with a Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3090, 32 GB of DDR4 and a 2 TB M.2 which smokes anything PS is doing with this thing without even sweating... Or in today's market you could comfortably build a 4K beast with a Ryzen 7600X and RTX 4080 Super with 2 TB M.2 and 32 GB of DDR Ram. Keeping in mind that PC would out perform Sony's next 2-3 consoles gens.

The only reason I bought a PS4 Pro was because I didn’t have a PS4 at the time. Think I’ll be waiting on the PS6. I’ll only get it if it has a disc drive though. Otherwise I’ll stick with PC gaming.
They are already prototyping the PS6 as we speak and odds are very strong that the PS6 will not have a Disk Drive. Sony is pushing for full digital games.
Nah id sell the ps4 pro and get a ps5.
@@grthjryrd7552 I already have a PS5.
@@jakedizzle sell the ps4 then, zero point in having it
you know hes insecure about this when every other word are filler words and lip smacking
Steve from Gamers Nexus once said that 1% price increase per 1% performance boost is stagnation, not to mention that 1) 864p60 is about the same performance you got with an rx 6700 or rx 7600 2) the percentages on the PS5 Pro are worst its 75%/1.21% price increase per 45%/1% performance boost (Digital OG PS5 its about 400, Digital its 700)
Why are they so desperate to waste money?
As a long time PlayStation fan, I'll be among the first to grab popcorn when Sony gets humbled. "Pro" consoles completely miss the point of console gaming. Its supposed to be simple. Its where physical media SHOULD be king. They miss the mark on both those points.
the only people that will buy the ps5 pro are the scalpers.
Sony is the scalper.
Not even scalpers want this lol.
@@teamofone1219no they've bought up all the diskdrives Instead
@@johnps1670 sony: Look at me! I am the sculptor now!
I have a ps5. I’m NOT touching the pro. That is 100 a scam.
Facts. Your still getting a good experience on the console whether you got the pro or not
Every time a new thing comes out that looks awful were always told "it's not meant for you"
Then who is it meant for? It's a mass produced mainstream console using casual games like Spider-Man and Ratchet to market it that will be sold and advertised at Walmarts around the world. If it's not meant for the general consumer then who is it for and why are they acting like it's meant to be there for the general consumer?
what sent my sides into orbit was someone tried to make a point 'nobody is gonna buy this at 700 dollars.. well the 3DO would like a word with you' .... not only did that release in a different time, but the console flopped. why would you EVER use that as comparison, if anything, it makes the pro's price look worse lmao
though tbh, what else did I expect from people who think they're going to release games exclusively on the ps5 pro.
It's the Xbox Series S's fault the Pro is costing 700 USD (900+ in Europe)
@@definitelynotacyborg well obviously…
"The biggest advantage console has had over PC is price to performance.", I'd add not having to tinker with hardware, operating systems, and worry about viruses to that.
I'm surprised he didn't claim you have to upgrade your pc every year.
The scalpers in Atlanta went crazy on the PS5,looks like scalpers are going to be selling the disc drives this time
What gets me is they thought the Pro would equal a 4090... Im an Xbox guy going PC soon and even I know the next Gen consoles won't match the 4090. And it by itself on the $2k models is almost as much as my entire PC build which isn't no slouch.
It's their lack of understanding PC hardware.
You're only wasting about $250 for nothing if you look at it that way.
an enthusiast system I almost have a lot of my chair lmao that's like saying shoe lifts are for people that are height enthusiast
I'm jealous of one thing. I'm jealous of Sony mining these suckers' wallets with such complete savagery, while the people being scammed are denying being scammed despite it being so excruciatingly obvious.
For every smart consumer there's at least ten suckers.
In Australia, it will cost $1,360 with a disc drive. Makes US pricing look good. Oh yes Sony bumped up the price of controllers as well ...
that price..& it ships with the shitty potentiometer analog controller..they could've made the pro controller a hall effect to stop the stick drift problem
I was waiting to upgrade my PS4 Pro when the PS5 Pro released. Thank whatever, that I built a PC back in 2020. I upgraded my PC once I saw the $700 tag. Yes my PC was much more expensive, but it was worth it… This is the first PS Generation I’ll completely skip. I’m not happy about it…. 🤷🏾♂️
It sucks but it will sold out anyway. There are a lot of mindless NPCs out there.. Its the same as people overpaying for Apple crap...
For 700 to be worth it the 2tb is nice, but it also needs to include a
Pro Controller
System Stand
Disk Reader Already Installed
Most games aren't going to be 60fps on the PS5 pro what over price of shit
I would love to see that person keeping that same energy if that person was anywhere outside the US.
Because you do know that the price for the ps5 pro is somehow worse.
its not even an upgrade its just an overclock and an A I integration
In Australia the ps5 pro is 1200 from ebgames I can buy a gaming pc for 1500 from the same shop honestly I would rather buy a gaming pc this may be the last PlayStation I may ever buy
I ain't defending the price, but they said you could take your disk drive off your base model and use it on the pro.
Wait so they said you could open your ps5 and take out the disc drive ? Or was there already a external disc drive. Would not be the best idea considering the fact that it's liquid metal cooled and apparently very prone to leaking if the ps5 is opened in any way .
@@Reploid-dj9jc i dont think you ever seen a machine in your life lmao. Yeah the paste is gonna be in between on every piece like a sandwich
I find it funny it off everything this guy didn't use the "is rdna4 that even the largest pcs don't have" argument
He's so obsessed with 60 fps but won't spend on a PC instead, which has been given 60fps for a decade or so
Edit: It's actually so stupid that dudes like him would pay 300$ for a "slight improvement" but in reality if you go from a 2060 Super to a 3070, you can literally go from a 1080p 60fps to a literal 1440p 60 fps experience for 100-120$ more
The nes played games at 60 fps
I'd rather just waste my money buying 1 Q-tip for £700, except I'll buy the digital version that has no cotton, only the stick..
Might just do it out of pure spite and put it where I'd have put my consoles..
So @GamersNexus showed the ps5 benchmarked as a 1070, a 1080 when its really optimised, even 40% more perfs would be outdated perfs at that price.
Remember that NIB blamed xbox for increasing the PS5 Pro price.
you can find used 6800xt where i am for the same price as a new 4060.
Keeping the Standard PS5 Never going to waist money on the PS5 Pro and To sell a stand and the dicsdrive separately is unforgivable in my opinion.
From UK And I m not supporting the PS5 pro Rather get a steamdeck instead With that kind of money
For 900 I can build a PC that beats the PS5 Pro.
Since the PS5 and PS5 Pro are still using a Zen 2 CPU from 2019.
Where I am I can get a brand new limited edition switch between 200 to 250 I definitely think they Nintendo do allow sale's so with that being said they actually do give you chance not pay full price but you know......
Would be funny if PS6 launches in just two years after PS5 Pro
i got my new gaming pc for a seven hundred something mainly upgraded because my mid potato pc couldnt handle elden ring lol. my new pc has a 3050 not the highest upgrade but a big leap from a 1030 all my games run much smoother now and i love it. i want a 4090 i wont deny it but too pricy right now.
Personally I’m the target audience but at this price better spend some more and get a 4080 or a 5080 when it comes out.
What I saw from comparison videos it does not justify the price.
The difference is minimal.
My graphics want to look sharp no antialiasing nothing pure resolution sharpness
console gamers dont care about graphics and frames they say, yet they hype/defend & buy "pro" consoles. The irony
Even at 30fps you arent hiting Native 4k on these consoles. Its 1080p-1440p upscaled to 4k
😂🤣 they still will say other wise which is funny.
@evacody1249 it is funny. Some games are even lower than 1080p on the render. It's bad. Meanwhile I'm playing in native 4k 😂😂😂😂
¥119,850 = £659
€799 = £850
$699 =£590
£699 = $913

The money I was going to spend on the Pro is now going on a second hand Digital edition which will be jailbreaked. Single player games for free.
You actually predicted the bad Griffin take...
im pretty sure the pc equivalent to the ps5pro is like a midrange rx 6000 series and im pretty sure this is the first implementation of fsr 4.0 as amd said it would be ai focused and restricted to rx 6000 series and above moving forward. the ps5 is rocking rx 5700 or rx 5700xt performance (with more vram with the unified memory of the ps5). its kinda sad to see the highlight of last gen refresh (upscaled 4k games) is still some how the talking point of this gen refresh. this move kinda reminds me of the first gen of ray tracing and the reception it got.
the playstation portal DID NOT SELL WELL. it sold only half a million units, and the psedge was the bestselling accessory of last year... in march and ONLY march.
I'm the guy that's gonna come out on top! I'm buying a ps5 pro and I'm gonna flip it for $1800 and by then, nvidia should have released a date and price of the 5090 😊
Who was the original video creator? Voice sounds familiar.
I don’t don’t know how can anyone even defend the ps5 pro like seriously go for pc for that price at this point
I usually buy every new model for playstation and I even see this thing as stupid and not worth it
I’m getting a pro, I want one, am I gonna defend the price? No.
Overwhelming majority of people hate something and this is easily proven? Nah, it's fake.
You think the EU and UK prices suck, us South Africans are paying PS5 Pro prices for the base PS5($856 conversion), imagine how much we are gonna pay for the pro
“It will sell well” ok so they buy stuff because it’s popular regardless of quality, what an argument
Also I’d like to add I feel like they’re starting to treat consoles like cameras.
BTW, here in Brasil this shit box is gonna cost R$ 3500.00. Sony suck.
Getting parts for PC build does add up / you spending a lot more money
I don't mind being screwed, but being GIGAscrewed? nah

The trade in is going to be $100-$150
