I always feel like if you let your cat go outside, there's a 50/50 chance of them coming home, in one piece. Never liked those odds, so I keep mine safe, inside. There's a family behind me that used to let their cats out. I'd see them dead, all over the area we live in, which is insanely busy! Never understood it.
@@qmnnvrdyz8965 I agree somewhat cause I do also think it cruel to keep a cat indoors their whole life especially with their wild instincts. I only let mine out back (where it's just gardens, the front is where the street is) and because they're all spay and neutered they don't wander. Fixing your pets makes all the difference. They don't wander as far.. All 10 of mine are always within hearing distance, so if I call them they come running. If you lived in a culdysac that would also be ok to let them out, it's a lot less dangerous. But to NEVER let a cat go outside is cruel imo.. If you live in an apartment, try getting them used to walking on a leash, or allow them on the patio.. SOMEHTING...
@@qmnnvrdyz8965 - My boy started life as a stray; an outdoor cat. And when I adopted him at the age of 6 months it was extremely difficult to keep him inside so I had to let him out. About three or four years ago he came home badly bitten requiring medical intervention. When it happened again about 8 months later he became a full time indoor cat with no exceptions. It took him months to get used to it without constantly nosing at the door and crying to go outside but it was worth the effort. Mango is 12 now and perfectly content to sit in my lap or in the window smacking his lips at the birds or howling at the enemy cats outside who are invading his territory. I couldn't ask for a better companion.
For a scared animal to grow to trust you, that's just amazing. Plus, for you to love him despite his crabby nature and the fact that he's not a "cute" kitty; AMAZING! KUDOS!
He struck me as perhaps he was having some physical pain and was saying don't approach me, keep your distance. Aside from possibly being a feral, he just seemed very lethargic. Or as someone else mentioned, that he'd had a pretty rough life.
Want to tell you what you’ve accomplished with Mr. Crabs is awesome. Males are especially tough feral cases! Amazing job earning his trust. Worst fear HBC! TY for going all in for him. Miracles happen but you had to be there. Thank your neighbor too. Hoping the other cat was OK.
Reminds me of my cat buddy, Barnaby. He showed up at my house all skin and bones. We made him a big storage bin house in the backyard and fed him morning and night. One day he wasn’t there, so I thought he had been hit by a car and died. I drove the neighborhood looking for him and on my way back, I saw him slowly limping towards our house. I had to use a trap to catch him, then take him to the vet. His front legs were badly injured by a fox or raccoon. I sat with him and gave him medicine morning and night. We kept him in a really big dog kennel until his tests came back and he healed completely. We saved his front legs and he became my little buddy after that. He loved being inside, and was always at my side when I was home.
My heart stopped for a moment when I got to the part, "slowly limping towards our house". So relieved and happy that he is now living his BEST life with you.
@@dimar7641 he was the sweetest cat we’ve ever had. He really appreciated us and being inside. He loved being around people. All of our other cats would hide from guests. Barnaby would greet them and take them on a tour talking the whole time!
I rescued a feral cat in my neighborhood. After feeding him for a month or two, when he would stop buy, I trapped him and brought him inside. For a few days he just wanted out! One year later you would never know he was feral. He is enjoying his new life! 😻
@@sallymoen6371He is doing great! I do let him outside but only supervised in my front, and backyard, for about 15 min at a time…a few times a day of course. I guess I trained him not to wander off since he does not need a harness. I think he knows he is living a better life and hasn’t looked back. 😻
I really love this. Back in June 2009 we adopted a 12 year old "house feral" name Teia. We gave her 9 1/2 more years, and she came to trust my wife and I, and adopted two boy kittens we adopted when she was 17 1/2.
I did the exact same thing with Tomaz. He was very vicious and it took me 4yrs for him to trust me the rest is history. He’s now an old age pension the vet told me he’s around 18 yrs old😄
Bless you for taking him in. We have adopted feral cats for the last 20+ years and they always transform into complete chilling fat cats. It's that they have had to live their lives in survival mode but once they relax, when they are fairly sure that they are safe, they can finally play and have a good time. It just takes some patience :)
Thank you for taking in Mr. Crabs. I can't praise people enough who take the time and patience to spend with feral cats and taking them into their home. It took me 2 full years of talking to and feeding a feral tuxedo cat before she finally came in my home to be loved by a human for another 9 years. I commend and adore people like you. ❤
Mr Crabs reminds me of a tough tomcat that adopted me. He had a huge head too and even after multiple vet visits and neutering he was still in charge but he didn't look like such a chonk. My cat never played with toys much but maybe he was too busy running my house. He lived to be 20 and the bestest boy. I still miss him. ♥️💕 Best of luck to you and Mr Krabs ♥️♥️
Wonderful that she made a connection with Mr. Crab. To concur the fears of a feral cat is NOT an easy task. (I assume that the other cat that her neighbor had been feeding didn't make it since she was crying when she told Angela about the car hitting the cats.)Took a long time, but worth it in the end. Hope ya'll have a healthy/happy life together.
@@philiptownsend4026 In this case, I think the correction was necessary. It's not just a typo or a spelling issue. It's the _wrong word._ Moreover, "concur" and "conquer" are both verbs, making the error more confusing than it might otherwise be if they had been different parts of speech, because then the error would've been more obvious. I myself had to stop and think and reread the sentence to figure out what the commenter meant. So in a case like this, there's nothing wrong with making a necessary correction, as long as it's done nicely, without insults or condescension. It also benefits the commenter (and possibly other readers), who will hopefully learn from the experience. "Concur" means to agree, while "conquer" means to vanquish, i.e. win, as in a battle. If we keep our minds open, we can all learn something. 🙂
@@Milesco OK Sir, maybe in this case the correction was justified but I do wonder if the original writer was pleased to see it and agreed. People making unnecessary corrections to comments come across as frowning disciplinarian schoolteacher types correcting an English language pupils homework. As if trying to belittle someone's contribution and make them feel small. Not nice
Thank you so much for taking him in. I took in a female feral cat 13 years ago. It took her quite awhile to learn to trust us but she eventually did. She is a sweetie. She sits on my lap regularly, meows at me when she wants something, goes out in the yard and comes running when I call her name. It is amazing the two female cats I took in both came running to me when I called their names. I feel so blessed to have them in my life.
Well Done, Angela. Your love and patience taught Mr. Crabs it was safe to hand in his feral card. I don’t know what it is about feral Toms - maybe an adaptation to cold weather, but so many of them have those slightly larger, wide faces, that are just so gorgeous and kissable. I hope Mr. Crabs can live out the rest of his life as a much-loved member of your family. He is a VERY handsome boy.
I read that the side, thick pieces are to act as "shields" for the face. Apparently an unaltered, mature male cat develops some characteristics of a "tom cat". Once altered, some of those physical features decrease and cat can be mellower. I think the Tom features are quite nice looking.
@@jenniferloftus2363 You ae correct. I like the look of Tom Cats, but maybe not some of the grumpy stuff. I know they can calm down, lose some Tom Cat features and become sweeter after being altered. meow
Its a hormonal adapdation that causes their jaws to swell from countless bouts of fighting with other unneutered toms outside. The most alpha tom is the one with the largest face but one of the most affectionate cats we ever had as a family was a great big black British short hair tom, always quick to anger and yet at the first sign of anyone becoming afraid or sad, he'd jump up on your lap and rub his huge face into yours. My mother was never a cat person (despite my dad adopting well over 8 strays (to my knowledge) over the course of their marriage. My dad would literally walk home and be followed by a stray. However this big black cat literally determined that my mother would love him no matter what and hed follow her into the bathroom every morning, sit in the mat beside her whilst she had her bath every morning before work. She had never directly fed him but this cat was determined. They were all devasted when he died at 14 but he'd lived a very well loved life with us, as did all our cats. Both my mum, dad and uncle (the family I grew up with), have now passed on but I've now inherited my late dads cat and she's just begun to be very affectionate with me after 2 years since my dads passing.
Lol 😂!!!! Mr. Crabs has the chunkiest face I’ve seen on a cat, he is super cute 🥰. So happy they adopted each other. I wonder what happened to the other cat that got hit by a car? 😓
Way to go sweetie! I have some neighborhood ferals I and other folks have been feeding for years. One if em I just called big boy never let me get close to him when I fed them. It was every bit of 5 years of feeding them almost every day when I sat down close to where I put their food down one day he came over and started checking me out he finally let me touch him without acting scared. Its a couple years later now I can call him and he'll come over and lay down and enjoy scratches and pets as long as I pet him. He even started plopping down and want belly rubs too. Never was around a cat that liked belly rubs. Some of the neighborhood strays cant get enough pets, head scratches and back rubs once they find out how great they feel. You just let them learn at their pace then they cant get enough.
Gaining the trust of a skittish feral cat is one of my favorite things in life. Watching them come in the house and chill out with you is such a rewarding feeling. The first time they approach me to initiate petting/attention is such a neat experience.

We have a cat just like Mr Crabs in our neighborhood. Only difference is that our big-head jowl-cat will come when you call, and ours is bob-tailed, so we call him "Bobby". Scary-mean-looking, but he let me pet him w/out any problem or hiss.
You are one of the best. What a good person you are. Patience is a huge part of the process & you seemed to have it in spades.
A friend of mine let her cat outside, he was skunked twice, got into a few fights, and ended up with FIV (feline HIV)
Yes, please, no more outside!!!!!
The love the lady shows Mr. Crabs is beautiful! What a beautiful human being to not give up on Mr. Crabs! ❤️🐾🐈
For a scared animal to grow to trust you, that's just amazing. Plus, for you to love him despite his crabby nature and the fact that he's not a "cute" kitty; AMAZING! KUDOS!

I love how he's hissing and she goes: awe, come on...like she doesn't take the threat serious 😆 . He is one big goof , so cute
That's how we should react to people who hiss: they probably simply got some personal history, too, just like Mr Crabs
@@HelenaBKay People hiss all the time for nothing 😂
@@TheKeystoneChannel nah. You don't know them. You don't know their lives.
I would have left hissing cat alone
You are a good person, the best. You saved and transformed that cat's life. He knew where to limp to for help.
Great story! 🐱
Beautiful story, thank you!
Those big cheeks! You are a very good person! Bless you!!!!
I rescued a feral cat in my neighborhood. After feeding him for a month or two, when he would stop buy, I trapped him and brought him inside. For a few days he just wanted out! One year later you would never know he was feral. He is enjoying his new life! 😻
Yes, I kept thinking that if she kept him inside when he visited, he wouldn't have been hit by the car.
Nicely done! Does he cuddle up now?
@@sallymoen6371He is doing great!
I do let him outside but only supervised in my front, and backyard, for about 15 min at a time…a few times a day of course. I guess I trained him not to wander off since he does not need a harness.
I think he knows he is living a better life and hasn’t looked back. 😻
What a wonderful crabby boy. I love cats with strong personalities. Thank you so much for loving him.
What a chonky little boy! I love his cheeks. Thank you to the woman who took him in. He looks to be doing so much better after his accident.
Jowls lol 🤣
I really love this. Back in June 2009 we adopted a 12 year old "house feral" name Teia. We gave her 9 1/2 more years, and she came to trust my wife and I, and adopted two boy kittens we adopted when she was 17 1/2.
I did the exact same thing with Tomaz. He was very vicious and it took me 4yrs for him to trust me the rest is history. He’s now an old age pension the vet told me he’s around 18 yrs old😄
I love it when that happens. I have a guy who decided to be tame when he was twelve. He's 17 now and has turned into the nicest boy.

Bless you for taking him in. We have adopted feral cats for the last 20+ years and they always transform into complete chilling fat cats. It's that they have had to live their lives in survival mode but once they relax, when they are fairly sure that they are safe, they can finally play and have a good time. It just takes some patience :)
how wonderful ! And their senior years will be safer, sweeter and more comfortable !
Thank you for your patience.
I love this cat!!! Mr. Crabs is a precious name. His human is pretty special, too.
Hello Ruth, I agree with you Mr. Crabs is very special and nice

@@Transformers2Fan1 do shut up spelling correctors. Did that unnecessary little input make you happy? Feel superior?
@@philiptownsend4026 cope
@@philiptownsend4026 In this case, I think the correction was necessary. It's not just a typo or a spelling issue. It's the _wrong word._
Moreover, "concur" and "conquer" are both verbs, making the error more confusing than it might otherwise be if they had been different parts of speech, because then the error would've been more obvious.
Not nice
God Bless You for giving Mr. Crabs such a wonderful and loving forever home!
So endearing - the name, Mr. Crabs. A handsome "chonk" and such a heartwarming story to view online this morning. We LOVE it!💖💖
Thank you. You are an angel.. Mr. Crabs you are one lucky guy. I hope he is neutered.?
Thank you so much for taking him in. I took in a female feral cat 13 years ago. It took her quite awhile to learn to trust us but she eventually did. She is a sweetie. She sits on my lap regularly, meows at me when she wants something, goes out in the yard and comes running when I call her name. It is amazing the two female cats I took in both came running to me when I called their names. I feel so blessed to have them in my life.
I have 5 that started that way. They're addicting!
Testosterone.
I believe part of the testosterone comes from hunting and eating wild game + genetics
Both my mum, dad and uncle (the family I grew up with), have now passed on but
I've now inherited my late dads cat and she's just begun to be very affectionate with me after 2 years since my dads passing.
It is so nice she saved him and took him in ! God bless you
It's amazing how cats know where to go for the kindness of strangers.
Some strays in my neighborhood do that to anyone who would feed them and now one of them has adopted my father in law and she has 5 adorable kitten's.
I am in love with that cat. Mr. Crabs, how cute. Good lady, thank you, for loving on him. He is a total hunk. I enjoyed this so much. 😍😼

Lol 😂!!!! Mr. Crabs has the chunkiest face I’ve seen on a cat, he is super cute 🥰. So happy they adopted each other. I wonder what happened to the other cat that got hit by a car? 😓
So do I.
What a Truly HANDSOME Boy
