True story. I rescued a stray, 'Trinity', a tiny black cat, and while she was happy to be a kept cat finally she still wouldn't let me touch her for another whole year. Then my brother 'broke' her down by feeding her expensive ham, lol (he'd only let her have it by taking it from his fingers -- so he could then pet her simultaneously)...and within months she did a 180 and became my belly/lap cuddle buddy for the next wonderful 10 years we had together. RIP to both of them.

Oh, we did have several cats growing up, we'd catch him petting them when he thought nobody was watching.

Six years later, my dad is Cottonball’s favorite and dad agrees he’s a great cat 😂

My dad was never fond of pets, though he let me have plenty of them, but of course when he was putting up wainscoting in the room of his first grandchild, my cat always hung out with him and I could hear him periodically talking to her. He called her his "number one chief inspector".
