I'm on my second X3... this guy is way off the mark. Great all around vehicle. Put it in sport mode and drive it hard, or relax in comfort mode on a trip. Great combination of ride and handling. Better than any SUV out there, short of a Porsche. Plenty of power and good gas mileage. Very smooth drivetrain and transmission. Seats aren't perfect but plenty usable and adjustable -- for better seats you'd have to pay up for significantly more expensive luxury vehicles.

21 inch wheels will ruin the sport/luxury balance is a huge way. Test it again with 19 inch and it will perfect the balance on both sides and make it the top SUV.
This car is so much better than the audi and mercerdes Benz, the audi is a Volkswagen not worth the money, and mercedes nickles and dimes you on every single option, you get way more for your money with the bmw and the ride is fantastic, reliability bmw is head over heals compaired to mercedes, I've owned both, if you want a vehicle that will be in the shop buy mercedes
They sure all do have their pros and cons! The Audi (Q5), Volvo (XC60) and Benz (GLC300) are my picks in this segment. If I was going more sporty - I'd take the Macan, but you do sacrifice on some of the room and sure do pay for it! I can't attest to Volvo and Benz reliability but the Audis as of late have been absolutely fantastic! The X3 definitely fits a certain buyer, but for me offered neither the sportiness or luxury that I'd want in a car of this class.
I disagree with some of the things he said. I had the X3 and switched to the GLC, and will be switching back to the X3 today actually 🤗 Yes, the GLC offers a more luxurious ride, but it does not feel as solid and as confident as the X3. Plus, I miss the features of the X3. For the same price, you get more added packages on the X3 than the GLC, like panoramic sunroof and navigation system. Also, the infotainment system on the X3 is more user friendly than the GLC's. Excited to pick up my X3 today 🤗 Skyscraper grey with tacora red interior with my preferred 19" wheels for a more comfy ride 🤗
Congrats on your new X3 - all of these midsize SUVs have various pros and cons (we actually reviewed the GLC on our channel as well!) - and the personality of each of these fit each driver different. My personal favorites in this segment are the Volvo XC60, Audi Q5 and the Porsche Macan. BUT honestly they are all great in their own regard. Thanks for watching and all the feedback :)
Agree with you, i am in my second x3 (2022) this one is and M40I last one was not. I did look at GLC, Q5, and Jaguars F pace - the Jag Rode very nice, very comfortable, i liked it but was not confident in terms of reliability and the Tech was sub par compared to BMW - i think BMW has great tech and a good ride, did take a bit of time to find that sweet spot in the seating position but i enjoy it and love road trips in it, its just a solid beast on the road. Congrats on your X3 - and great color, it was not available last year when i ordered mine but i seen it in person at a dealership just few days ago on a 3 and it looks great. - enjoy
I bought a new 2022 X3 earlier this month. I lowered the seat when I got in it, so I don't know where you're coming from with the seat height? The first week I had it I took it on a 6 hour day trip and found it very comfortable. My only major complaint is my car doesn't have adaptive cruise control which I find annoying, especially in a $50k car. I'm also not a big fan of the instrument cluster and its lack of driver information.
Appreciate your feedback, the ergonomics are definitely different depending on the driver. I find (most) the other midsize SUVs more comfortable in various regards. Yes adaptive cruise is an option even on the X5. Thanks for watching :)
BMW customer for years different models , 3 series , 5 series and then jump to X , also I had 3 of the X3 and also 3 of the X5 , and never mechanical issues , great cars.

If someone is here to advise me please 2021 x3 M model less millage but more expensif Or 2022 x3 not M, more millage, but cheaper by 5k Both are used of course
All depends on your needs and use. M might be more fun, but typically is stiffer, worse MPG, and a lousier road trip car for comfort. Only you can decide make sure to test drive both. Good luck!

Its for my wife. I already have a c 300. Not fun compared to my old 335xi. But thx i will go for the test drive.

Hi just an fyi. The X1has been redesigned - its actually very nice. A bit larger than the previous one and with all new updated tech ( idrive8) plus a lot more that i dont think you will get in a new x3 until 2024 when that is scheduled for a redesign and upgrade. I am going to check out the new x1 and going to consider it next year when i am shopping vs another x3
Yes correct ! This has been the least comfortable of all of the luxury SUVs for myself (outside of the horrendous seats in the XC60 r-design). Has nothing to do with small or large cars - we just reviewed a VW Atlas (will be up shortly) - and that has been nothing but a dream to sit in and drive !
And there we have it! VW fanboy alert! I wish VW Audi Skoda Seat lovers would leave BMW alone. Just because they don’t share their platforms (other than with Mini), you think they’re crap. The iX3 LCI is an amazing car, my X3 M40d was brilliant too. Bad review boys.

Cars are very subjective, but I am 6'5" and I have had bigger vehicles, this is the smoothest most comfortable car I have ever owned. The interior is near perfect, electronics and safety features are intuitive and not overwhelming. I think it is very well balanced between Luxury and Sport. This review is the least accurate I have seen for the most part.
I'm very mixed on new BMW lineup. Some I love, others I loathe ;-) The X3 leaves MUCH to be desired, all the competitors do this class of car better (I own an SQ5 and an XC60 R Design myself currently). Our review of the GLC300 is going up this week, and that is also a 'better' car as it takes care of the 'luxury' feeling in this class spot on. While I appreciate the video - I have to say I disagree with a few things. I first think the brand of the car has to suit your personality or regardless of how luxury or sporty it is you’ll find something wrong with it. I just purchased my x3 with some upgrades like digital dashboard screen etc. but before buying I looked into the: Audi Q5 - nice exterior but outdated basic looking interior. Felt smaller in the cabin than the x3 Mercedes- of course is known to be more luxurious, & has modern interior, lovely digital Hd displays, & smoother steering/drive but you also can’t just have a beach 🏝 with it either (I live in Florida) more likely to have repair issues and it’s obviously a lot more costly. So my point is thex3 in my opinion gives you alil of both worlds a strong enough sporty engine (like who needs to go 100mph daily anyways) but also gives you a well known touch of luxury that as you mentioned seems to be their branded staple. To me BMW is like the iPhone 📱 of their car category they slightly change in design but stay true to their quality of product. It’s durable, slick, and still appealing to the eye… ❤😊 I’m definitely a BMW gal 🌸

Hi. When you mention the wheels you talk about a few types and I don’t know what you mean. Do they offer different tire options? Then you mention heads-up, what is that? I will have to go to another video to figure out some of this stuff before I go to the BMW dealership to look at the SUV’s.
Thank you for the feedback! When we discussed the wheels, we simply stated that this particular car came optioned with the 21" inch diameter wheels and run flat tires. Other wheel sizes available on the X3 are 18", 19", and 20" inch diameters. Tire options will vary depending on wheel size. Smaller wheels and tires typically give a car a softer ride, however we felt that the setup on this X3 provided an adequate ride that was not too bumpy. To answer your other question, a heads-up display is "driver related information" projected onto the the windshield of a car. Typically it presents items such as your current travel speed, amount of fuel remaining, etc. This is beneficial because the driver does not need to take their eyes off the road in order to view this information. This particular BMW X3 that we tested did not have this option added. Thanks again for watching!
Nice video, only problem is you are to small :D sorry, i am 6.9 and i own this x3 and it is amazing because of the space and also seating place is perfect. Perfect between sport and comfort.
Thanks we have that lined up, as well as the x3m! I'm sure each one adds its own special element into the mix. The 'base' cars leave something to be desired many times.
I thought your review was pretty much on the money. I think the M40i is the one to get but it is just so annoying how much money you have to spend in addition to get the really nice features and things I insist on-like real leather seats that should come standard with the BMW! Quite a lot of cheap plastic these days in the BMW's! I thought I was going to buy a BMW but ended up buying a Genesis GV70, Advanced model. Im my opinion a WAY better choice than at least this model here! It doesn't have the badge status that the insecure seem to need, but the REALLY cool people don't care about such issues! 😆I favor it over the others you mention as well, but I am admittedly biased at this point having made my selection. I'd like to see your review of the GV at some point if that's possible.
We haven't reviewed the GV70 yet but heard it's one of the best in class! That will be coming up soon on the channel. I was really underwhelmed with the X3, and would pick many cars in the segment over it, as they do either luxury and/or sport better then this. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your new genesis!!
That is a strange car, it’s not an Msport so not a factory design. The 21" wheels must be painted black aftermarket and the black grill is part of the Msport only Shadow-line package so it wouldn’t be available on that X-line trim car, the Shadow-line has black trim also.
Fully agreed, although I thought the wheels maybe came stock in black -- but all the other pieces (including rear blacked out badges!) I wondered if they were aftermarket. Thanks for pointing this out and clearing this up !!
@@thedesertroad The 21" wheels are an option on that trim X3 but those 21’s are not available in black, the grill must have been changed. Overall it was a nice looking upgrade.
@@MichaelSmith-sz7kf I have a 2023 also, the "real" X3M Comp doesn’t come with black wheels though, the Comp is only available in the US with 21" bicolor black/machine face aluminum. The black wheels are only available on Msport and M40i, just saying🙂
This one with this particular engine was one of my least favorite cars in this segment. Q5, XC60 and Macan combine sportiness and luxury levels better then this BMW, and get the ergonomics right as well. X5/X7 is where it's at for BMW for SUVs! Thanks for stopping by!!

I've been in every midsize SUV - this is by far (esp with this engine) my least favorite one. X5 is the way to go in the BMW lineup hands down (just got out of mine after a great 6 months). Thanks for stopping by!

21's are an overkill even with adaptive dampers. 18's - 19's are apt with 55 - 60 profile. If aesthetic is the only motive, go ahead. Not to mention that RFTs are inherently stiff!
They sure do look good though :) These 21's did not affect the ride quality all that much - but yes smaller wheels will smooth everything out for sure. Thanks for watching our review!!
@@vivekgopinathan6960 Correct road quality and pavement are always a factor. The roads are well paved here. And smaller will always be smoother when it comes to wheels!! Even still (I've driven a lot of cars on larger wheels) - BMW knows what they are doing to make sure the ride is still very compliant when you go bigger.
@@thedesertroad i have the pre facelift x3 30i (bought in October ly). Its has 18s & the ride is busy for the most part but i want to stick to rfts from safety stand point. May be the 1st change will be michelin pilot sport 4 suv. I have 225/60/R18 atm

i actually own both a glc and the x3....comfort goes to the glc but other than that i prefer the x3 because to me it gives me a lot more options.

I’m looking at the BMW x3m40i with the B58 motor - highly regarded in the industry.
Yes completely different level of fun with that motor. The 340i is also a great car to have some fun in! Good luck with your purchase decision!
Check out the adaptiveM suspension which helps smooth out the harshness without negatively impacting the handling.

I had a 2014 BMW X1 and upgrade to 2023 BMW X3 recently!

Hi. When you mention the wheels you talk about a few types and I don’t know what you mean. Do they offer different tire options? Then you mention heads-up, what is that? I will have to go to another video to figure out some of this stuff before I go to the BMW dealership to look at the SUV’s.
Thank you for the feedback! When we discussed the wheels, we simply stated that this particular car came optioned with the 21" inch diameter wheels and run flat tires. Other wheel sizes available on the X3 are 18", 19", and 20" inch diameters. Tire options will vary depending on wheel size. Smaller wheels and tires typically give a car a softer ride, however we felt that the setup on this X3 provided an adequate ride that was not too bumpy.
To answer your other question, a heads-up display is "driver related information" projected onto the the windshield of a car. Typically it presents items such as your current travel speed, amount of fuel remaining, etc. This is beneficial because the driver does not need to take their eyes off the road in order to view this information. This particular BMW X3 that we tested did not have this option added. Thanks again for watching!

Nice video, only problem is you are to small :D sorry, i am 6.9 and i own this x3 and it is amazing because of the space and also seating place is perfect. Perfect between sport and comfort.

I thought your review was pretty much on the money. I think the M40i is the one to get but it is just so annoying how much money you have to spend in addition to get the really nice features and things I insist on-like real leather seats that should come standard with the BMW! Quite a lot of cheap plastic these days in the BMW's! I thought I was going to buy a BMW but ended up buying a Genesis GV70, Advanced model. Im my opinion a WAY better choice than at least this model here! It doesn't have the badge status that the insecure seem to need, but the REALLY cool people don't care about such issues! 😆I favor it over the others you mention as well, but I am admittedly biased at this point having made my selection. I'd like to see your review of the GV at some point if that's possible.
We haven't reviewed the GV70 yet but heard it's one of the best in class! That will be coming up soon on the channel. I was really underwhelmed with the X3, and would pick many cars in the segment over it, as they do either luxury and/or sport better then this. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your new genesis!!
That is a strange car, it’s not an Msport so not a factory design. The 21" wheels must be painted black aftermarket and the black grill is part of the Msport only Shadow-line package so it wouldn’t be available on that X-line trim car, the Shadow-line has black trim also.
Fully agreed, although I thought the wheels maybe came stock in black -- but all the other pieces (including rear blacked out badges!) I wondered if they were aftermarket. Thanks for pointing this out and clearing this up !!
@@thedesertroad The 21" wheels are an option on that trim X3 but those 21’s are not available in black, the grill must have been changed. Overall it was a nice looking upgrade.

I have a 2023 M Competition, everything is black, rims, grill, rear lights, that’s the package with a “real” M, just saying 😊
@@MichaelSmith-sz7kf I have a 2023 also, the "real" X3M Comp doesn’t come with black wheels though, the Comp is only available in the US with 21" bicolor black/machine face aluminum. The black wheels are only available on Msport and M40i, just saying🙂

This one with this particular engine was one of my least favorite cars in this segment. Q5, XC60 and Macan combine sportiness and luxury levels better then this BMW, and get the ergonomics right as well. X5/X7 is where it's at for BMW for SUVs! Thanks for stopping by!!

21's are an overkill even with adaptive dampers. 18's - 19's are apt with 55 - 60 profile. If aesthetic is the only motive, go ahead. Not to mention that RFTs are inherently stiff!
They sure do look good though :) These 21's did not affect the ride quality all that much - but yes smaller wheels will smooth everything out for sure. Thanks for watching our review!!

@@vivekgopinathan6960 Correct road quality and pavement are always a factor. The roads are well paved here. And smaller will always be smoother when it comes to wheels!! Even still (I've driven a lot of cars on larger wheels) - BMW knows what they are doing to make sure the ride is still very compliant when you go bigger.
@@thedesertroad i have the pre facelift x3 30i (bought in October ly). Its has 18s & the ride is busy for the most part but i want to stick to rfts from safety stand point. May be the 1st change will be michelin pilot sport 4 suv. I have 225/60/R18 atm
