I'm only three and a half minutes in and you're making me laugh, I'm hearing more of your real character coming out here and I love it 😂 "They can be a bugger to weave in!"..."I have freakishly small wrists like a child" 😂 Thanks, its nice to have a giggle and learn something new at the same time!
OMG! I tried these when the pattern came out, when I was returning to crochet after decades and only having made granny squares. I couldn’t do it!!! Just COULD NOT do it!! 😢 So off I went and tried lots of other things, including most of Robin’s patterns.Gradually adding to my experience. After trying the fantail mittens I gave these another go. Success!!!! Yay! I have also discovered, by trial and error, that one make of crochet hook makes a huge difference to me. Who knew!! I’m now in danger of disappearing down the rabbit hole of beautiful squishy yarns. 😮 😂. Such fun to be had!! Thanks again Robin. Love your patterns and your teaching style. X
Trying this out with the Lion Brand Cotton-fetti, which is very, very loosely spun & therefore didn't work for a different project I got it for due to the splitting but it is working wonderfully with this simple pattern. Thank you so much for your patient & detailed instructions. I greatly appreciate them. You've most certainly taught me how to be a more thoughtful crocheter & it's helped my progress immensely. 😊
Im making a pair with pastel colors and im changing color every row/round. They are gonna be adorable! Thank you for making all your patterns and tutorials easy to follow and thanks for sharing them!😊
Hey can you make a video on your adult mermaid tail blankets thanks I have a hard time with that pattern that you made so could you please make a video of them thanksuy
Keep making them I love earth tones and ocean tones and night tones puffs fantail shell stitch star stitches crocodile stitches and my most fave’s are the ripple stitches because they remind me of mermaids and clownfish shells sea glass and tropical sunset and islands that’s what all those stitches remind me of is nature’s way of life and joy and beauty
I hoped you would like that comment I am still trying the wee house of crochet puff stitch mittens do you think you could make a video on puff stitch mitten and hat that would be great thank you
Hello Robin! I made a pair for my sister, and she loves them!! I want to make a pair for myself, but I like tight fit gloves. How would I decrease the stitches after the 3rd row?
You can do a puff stitch decrease - you'll have a lot of loops but it's doable! Do a puff stitch in one space then don't finish it, move on and do a puff stitch in the next - yarn over and pull through the gazillion loops on your hook 😂 (I hope that makes sense!)
Robin: And you do four more rows of that. Me: Okay let's go! *stops the vid and crochets four rows* Robin: Oops that was supposed to be three rows. Me: What Also the glove is indeed very generous in length, it stretches almost all the way up to my elbow LOL and I consider myself to be a person with quite long arms. Maybe it was the yarn? I used a different one. It fits beautifully though, after squeezing my thumb through, and I'm sure it will warm me up very nicely in the winter. Would definitely recommend. Also I used a 100g ball of yarn, used up about 3/4 for a single glove, if it helps anybody. It was yarn for a hook sized 5 (at least that's what I did it with, it wasn't written on the wrapping. It was for needles 4-5 though.) Thank you for the tutorial. I'll surely make a pair for my friend too, it will be a wonderful present!
Really love the pattern! However, I noticed that when I do the whole "slip-stitch into the next gap before starting a new round of puff stitches" part, it creates a seam sat spirals around the arm warmer since you always start/end one puff stitch over. I improvised to avoid that since I prefer a hidden seam that runs along the inner side of the arm warmer where the thumb hole sits, but I felt like my "technique" to do so was somewhat shoddy. Any idea how to create a nice, straight seam? =)
petrav.online hmmm it's difficult to avoid when going round and round in spirals HOWEVER, you could probably achieve a nice straight seam if you turned your work for each round (like for the thumb hole gap section) - I haven't tried it but in my head it seems that would work? 😅
Can’t wait to try these! Thanks for sharing your talent with us and for being totally human in your ways! It’s great to know what to do in several situations you walked us through. ❤️👌
Thank you Robin for such a LOVELY pattern! is there a particular stitch count? If I want to make it smaller or larger, is there a certain multiple I must use? Your gloves are VERY beautiful! Thank you for sharing your lovely work!
Hello! Quite new here (2 months crocheting)! Do you have a video explaining yarns properties (softness, dullness, itchiness ect) and categories (chunky, baby, self-striping, boucle, bulky, etc.)? What those yarns are better for, and how to choose the right yarn to use for a work compared to another one? For example.. if I have to make a shawl or scarf than I should use that yarn category with those properties, or to make gloves it's better chose this one instead of that one for those reasons. I know there are tons of different yarns and now that I want to craft Xmas gifts myself I don't know which one to choose. I know that might be a really long and difficult video to make but I'm sure it will help new crocheters a lot! Thanks in advance!
First off I'd like to thank you for all your amazing video, I absolutely can not get enough I hope you do another live soon, I'm new to your channel and well new to all this TH-cam video stuff, I use to only buy crochet books till my daughter showed me I could get patterns on TH-cam, so thank you..lol. Anyway I just have a quick question about the yarn you used in this video, not the gold even though its very pretty too, but the grey rainbow I've searched and searched for it , and I'm just wondering if its still available and the brand who makes and color name, and also if its available in the United States. I bought some other yarn to make these gloves but honestly I'm not in love with it and just really love the color you chose.. Well thank you very much looking forward to another one of your fabulous videos 😊
I made these years ago and lost one ;( oooooh fantail stitch.... Anyway, I loved the colours in your original too! It was hand dyed?! Anyway. I keep being distracted as I watch haha. What was I here to type? Oh yeah I wish I'd known about this video earlier as mine ended up slightly uneven but I fudged it 😂 thank you so much !
@@HookedbyRobin yeah still a no go unfortunately. Either way I'm crap as choosing the right yarn for anythig, I never consider how a colour change will look once it's worked into stiches, nor the worst/ weight I just think oooooh pretty now what can I make? 😂
Okay, so I'm having a problem with this. When I lay my glove down flat, I notice that the top is slanted and curving upwards a bit. I'm wondering if it's because my puff stitches aren't coming out the same of it's something else. I love and hate puff stitches, groans.
I did ten rows of puffs before the thumb. I made one according to her pattern earlier and it was wayyyyyy tooooo big. So I changed it to ten rows of puff stitches. I couldn’t get the thumb right either so I changed that too.
My daughter (9) is trying to make these gloves and she is wondering if you made a mistake saying you used a single crochet stitch. Because she sees you doing a double in the screen. I don't know how to crochet so I have no idea how to help. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
It sounds like your daughter is using UK terminology for the stitch names - I use American :) A single crochet in American terms is the same as a double crochet in UK terms (it can get quite confusing! 😅) I have a conversion chart here: www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet-stitch-conversions
Thank you so much! I've just whipped a pair of these for my 5 year old (who is insisted that these are super hero gloves)!
That is adorable Megan! 😃😍
I am in my 40's and I feel powerful when I wear my fingerless gloves. Like a boxer ready to train!

You can make these as big or as small as you like - you simply need an even number of stitches 👍

You can increase the number of foundation single crochet stitches - just ensure they are an even number :-)
