Just finished mine! I used super bulky yarn with an 8mm hook. The yarn was Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Stripes. It crocheted up very quick! It made a super beautiful striped pattern. Then, used 3 strands of soft & shiny white yarn for each "weave." Turned out beautiful!!! Thanks so much for the pattern.
You are just the loveliest teacher on TH-cam! Your calm voice, easy to follow directions, and your pretty hands make for a wonderful tutorial. I love this pattern...and pretty much every crochet video you make!🥰
took the words right out of my mouth. i'm inspired and i'm a 50 yr-old man (don't judge me) - i don't think i'd be great at it but i know my 14-yr-old daughter would and voila - you just introduced me to her holiday gift and her instructor all at once. Thank you Robin! PS if you would use Amazon links it would be easier for Yanks like us - plus you'd make _significantly_ greater income as you would be compensated for everything in the shopping cart ('tis the season for big purchases).
I love your videos. I tend to be super nitpicky and critical, but your technique is perfection. What's not to love? You make great videos. You instructions are easy to understand, and you have a voice that is easy to listen to. Thanks so much for giving us your time and talent. I will definitely make at least one of these scarves!
You know when you are at your wits end looking for a pattern that goes with everything and then this pops up on your feed. My day has been officially made. This is beautiful and the easiest to learn. Thanks a million 😁😁😁👍👍👍.
I made this. It’s not only the first piece of clothing I have ever crocheted, but the first project I fully finished. I wish I could post a photo here. Thank you so much for the tutorial! Edit: It only took me two weeks to complete while doing it in my spare time watching TV.
I decided to do this into a throw blanket for my granddaughter … it is fun and works up very quickly… even folks with ill eye sight, once you get past the foundation row is very easy to do… thank you
I've always wanted to relearn crochet - I never learned more than making a chain. You teach extremely well, giving such good examples that I think I could do this. It would make a beautiful gift for my friends that live or visit cold places.
I am so happy your videos were one of the first ones I saw as I began to learn crochet. I have to agree that between the voice and easiness of following what you are doing… you are among my top 3 channels I go to for projects. Happily each one is getting a little better than the previous 👏👏 Very thankful that as I learn the love of crochet, your videos are here no matter how many years ago you originally did it. Thank you for all you do… which is a lot… because for over a year i could get nothing to go past the starting chain… and your v stitch tutorial was my first successful “hey, I got past row 2” project 🙏😁🤗
I looked at any tutorials, and loved the appearance of many… but decided to try this one because of the economical use of the yarn. My church women’s group is going to be making some prayer shawls and I decided this one looks easy enough to try, and might save a little money with using less skeins of yarn. Thank you for the tutorial, Janette
To guarantee an even number of strand sets at each end, the number chained at the beginning should be 4n + 2 with variable n. Like I could say I’ll chain 46 because 4(11)+2=46 so I know it will have perfect strands for tying at the end
hi hunn l have subscribed to your channel l hope you have a good new year this new year and l hope you had a lovely Christma's to love from lorraine Daniel's white special need's and I am autistic TH-cam video's tack really good care hunn your so amazing hunn and really beautifull to God bless you to 🙏🙏🙏😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏
Glad to see I wasn't the only one trying to work that out :D The way I thought of was if I did and odd number of pairs before the +6, that would be an even number of spaces. For the sample she did 14+6, or 7 stitches plus the end stitch, for a total of 8 "stitches" or spaces. So any odd number should work!
Hey am a begginer its my second project and while am making am learning dos and don'ts just excited it to get complete.. and really happy and thankful to you that you shared such easy and handy muffler
I love this. Many years ago, back in the 70's an older lady (here in the USA) showed me how to do something very similar to this with Monk's Cloth. I just love this idea though and really must try it. I think it might a nice and warming baby blanket. Thank you for such a great video, again 😘
I made this for a very good friend of mine last week, she suffers bad in the cold so I made it a bit wider and she absolutely loved it, not made anything with weaving before but found the whole scarf enjoyable to make it was a lovely scarf ❤
You just saved two very large multi colour yarn balls.when I bought them they looked Great but when I tried to make something out of them the results were weird.and believe me I tried!!thank you !!you gave purpose to their existence.also great pattern to make gifts for Christmas
It's really frustrating when you buy gorgeous variegated yarn it and it never looks right no matter what pattern you try! Ugh!!! BEEN THERE SO MANY TIMES 🤣 Hopefully they will work with this scarf! 🤞
I made this scarf for my mother in law, with red glitter yarn as the mesh and black glitter yarn as the strings, and it was really beautiful! Super easy and it worked up quickly! Thanks for the pattern! 😊👍
FABULOUSLY TERRIFICSTATICAL!!!!! I love it. I've made 10 so far for both men and women ! I even made it with sparkly yarn. This is just beautiful. THANK YOU FOR THE TUTORIAL.
Love your videos. When I have the urge to do something different I just cruise your videos. Anyway I did this scarf and sent it to my son’s Girlfriend In Portland OR and several people at shops stopped her to say how much they like it. Sooooo thank you❤❤❤
I am presently working on this scarf now for my mother. I am ready to do the weaving part. I choose this one for her because it wasn't as bulky as most, so that it would not bother her like the others she's tried. It's really soft and I think that's she's really going to love it! Thank you!
Hello Ms. Robin. Your videos are fantastic. I learn something new with every one I have watched and I have been crocheting for many, many years. I especially love when you fast forward. I hear the music from the chase scenes from Benny Hill. It always gives me a chuckle. Thank you, be safe.
I think I might use this to make placemats and matching coasters. But for a bit of variety, I'll do the colours in reverse. Mats crotched in black and white woven in, coasters crocheted in white with black woven. Or whatever colours suit your décor. Thanks so much for the inspiration and the great (and fun) tutorial, Robin! 💟
Used to make afghans like this for wedding gifts. Something that looks really pretty is if you do a second row of knots by taking 2 strands from one bunch and combining them with 2 strands from the Fringe of the next bunch. Gives the fringe a much fancier appearance. Anyway, thanks for this video. You did a great job of presenting and explaining! Happy crocheting! Oh. Should have mentioned one drawback for this pattern is when you launder the project the weaving strands tend to pull and make everything bunch up. I found the way to avoid this was to take the time to stitch the woven strands at the very ends to the crochet part so they can no longer slide around. A bit more work....yes....but voila! Problem solved.
Oh my, I need to stop watching you! I'm in overload. Lol. I have bulky yarn, big hook, and some cloth ribbon I purchased at an estate sale years ago and haven't used. I am a weaver by trade (although I haven't been weaving much for a couple of years) I have been quilting and now I've added crochet thanks to you and your wonderful teaching. Thank you so much for what you do.
The filet crochet is a very easy stitch as long as you get the ends in the right spot. Your sample would make a cute mug rug. I love your accent and could listen to you all day. I think I will make a few coasters now. Thank you for the inspiration.
My mother in law has me making scarfs for her helpers in her classroom. This looks so much easier than what I was doing! Thankyou for making such easy to follow videos and patterns!
I overdone it last week and gave myself a mild RSI so I’m watching your videos for inspo for future projects while I’m ‘out of action’ 😊 I’m definitely going to give this a go when I’ve recovered! It looks super easy and the results are so pretty 😍 I’ve never made a scarf before so this looks good place to start 😁 Thank you for the tutorial 🥰
Hi Ellie, you are so welcome and I can so sympathise. I take summer off as I suffer from bad tendonitis from too much crochet so my RSI flares up if I crochet year round 🙂. This scarf is super easy, I hope you enjoy it when your back to crochet.🤗
The alternate weaved rows make this piece deceptively fancy, I'm shocked at the simple pattern. Definitely will integrate this technique in more works! Thank you Robin!
Hi Robin, this tutorial is so timely...Im teaching the kids at school this very scarf and I didn't have a video to pass on to the parents for the kids. Thank you so much 😘
This is a very simple project that looks so much more intricate than it is. A delight to work up and the white yarn filling in the spaces, makes the scarf warmer. I am using purple for the boy and yellow to weave in it might not sound pretty but it really is striking. Thank you loved it.
Had to restart a couple of times because I messed up a stitch somewhere along the lines lol but once I figured out my mistake and got the hang of it, it was pretty easy. Made a christmas themed one and it came out beautiful, thank you for the easy to follow tutorial :)
You explain so well that after a long time I picked up my leftover wool and bought crochet. I have started with the one that you showed in this video. I am watching from India.
Beautiful and colorful!! I tried and finished mine in 2 days. I'm a beginner. I wanted to show the finished scarf but I don't know how. Thank you very much for the pattern!! more power!!
This is a great idea. I've been a long time knitter & want to do some crochet that doesn't look like crochet. I think this will be a good, cheap, easy place to start. Thanks much for taking the time to do this video. Also your nails look really nice. I'm a nail artist & so notice nails, even simple ones that are done well. Thanks again. 💞
Omgosh this scarf is absolutely gorgeous and looks so easy to make. Can’t wait to make this one. 🧶🧶 Thank you for another lovely beautiful scarf pattern!! Love ur tutorials! 🙌 Have a blessed day!! 😊🦋
Very well explained and easy to watch as well. I taught myself to crochet eons ago before youtube or the internet. Yes, I'm that ancient. LOL I so love seeing the videos because they make it so much easier. I'm going to make this after the first of the year for myself. Making a blanket right now for a wedding gift. Thanks for a great video.
Beth G Was thinking exactly the same thing! If they are very young, you could do the crochet and they could do the weaving. My granddaughter’s only 16 months old - I can’t wait to do these things with her!
That's an amazingly useful prospect! I will put it to test with my 4 year old and see how it turns out as a joint collaboration! Thanks for the idea @Beth G.
My mom and I made a blanket using this method back in the 1990s. She crocheted and I wove. We worked out a pattern so it became a plaid using three colors. She always said it was easy and I could have made it myself. We lost the pattern and she’s gone now but I think you’ve explained it so yes, it’s easy.
I usually use thread and a steel needle making doilies but I can visualize this pattern as a scarf runner. It would be pretty to do with a white base and varied colors for the accent stripes.
So cool, my mind is blowing up with ideas. The idea I want to try is a shawl and use a ribbon instead of the yarn. I can see many different ways of making funky items or delicate items by choice of yarn and ribbon. I hope you continue with your videos.
This is such a lovely pattern; I made one of these for myself! Your patterns are genius and you have a great ability to impart knowledge. When I'm not following your tutorials, I enjoy just watching these videos to clear my mind. Good stuff!
Love this! Funny enough I have a random scarf I started just for fun in a double crochet. Guess what I’m going to be adding to it? Weaving! Thank you and I love your color choices. They are so fun and cheerful.
I absolutely adore rainbow colourway yarn and things made with them! I will be trying this with shawl in a ball in the rainbow colourway. My mother made a baby blanket similar to this many many years ago. I always wanted to make one for myself but she didn't remember the pattern she used. Thank you for this bit of nostalgia. I am really looking forward to making this soon.
I am making this one right now! Going to send it to a nice old lady who always knits me scarves :) And since i know NOTHING about knitting i figured id crochet her something!
I absolutely love this pattern and cannot wait to start making some scarf's as well as a Baby Blanket. I have so much varigated yarn and now I know what to do with it. Thank you and your videos are awesome for the newcomer to an older crocheter like myself. Love to crochet been at it for 40 plus years. I have done so many patterns in my time and this is another new one for me. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Your sample looks like a doll sized bathmat. Very pretty pattern. Thank you for sharing it. I think that this stitch configuration would make a pretty throw blanket in superwash Merino or summer shawl in cotton.
So far, I have made three of your shawls from your other tutorials and they are all gorgeous, and I am a beginner at crocheting. I cannot wait to start on this scarf. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorials. You are my favorite, Robin.❤
Love this so much! I can not wait to do this! I make homemade xmas rubber stamped cards( and birthdays, etc, but I work at night on scarfs for gifts and for the homeless in our town! As soon as I finish the scarf I sm working on, gonna try this! Looks so pretty and fun!Thank you again!
Thank you for the pattern! It is very clear and easy to make! I have just made one in blue and red as a gift for my nephew and I will definitly make one for me too !
A pattern similar to this was one of the very first things I attempted to make when I was learning to crochet 45+ years ago Also your little sample will make a perfect coaster !☕️
Wonderful, this is the easiest scarf and well worth making. Thank You, Absolutely Breathtaking. Make more videos of things you're Fantastic. God Bless.
Oh, Robin, I’m enchanted and going back through your videos and loving it. I enjoy your presentation and your voice as much as I enjoy your tutorials. I will for sure do this scarf ❤ Thank you.
Hello Robin! I wanted to post and THANK YOU SO MUCH! I made scarves for 11 co-workers in my department for the holidays this year and your videos have been so much help and guidance along this journey! I am a noob and have been seriously crocheting only since earlier this year. I made this Overlay Woven Scarf for one of them and used your rice stitch guide as another one. This Overlay Woven scarf has received so many compliments and people always ask where I got the pattern (I always post a link here!) Your work is always so beautiful and your videos are so clear and easy to follow, this is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and please keep the great videos coming!!
What a lovely comment Brigitte, thank you so much! 11 scarves is amazing.😃 I am back in January with videos. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.🥰🎄
I am now on my third one of these. The second one I did is by far my favorite. I changed the multiple to ensure an even number of blocks. 4 + 8 gets an even block count.
I absolutely love this! You are a great instructor too! I want to make a baby blanket and mug rug for sure! I made a baby blanket decades ago and lost the pattern, thanks so much!
I’m just finishing up a woven scarf, made with roving yarn in green tones with a cream color that I wove in. It came out nice. Thank you for the great pattern and tutorial. Really enjoyed it! 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶

What a great project and uses so little yarn what a fabulous stash buster anyone else thinking of rainbow weaving
I had to google rainbow weaving but YES absolutely! (It's dangerous for me to google such things, guess what I now want to do ..... 🌈😂)
@@HookedbyRobin I actually meant using a rainbow stripe as the overlay but Googled rainbow weaving too x

It was meant to be Meghan! 😅🥰 It is my most colourful scarf, perfect for dark winter days! x
I made two of these scarfs, I love them.. They are gifts can't wait to see how much they love them.. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial Robin
Thank you for having left handed videos.
Made this in black yarn and weaved in blue yarn. Love it. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Edna, 40 plus years of crochet - amazing! I hope you enjoy this one.😃
Currently my fave yarn ever, such a lovely mix of colours.
That scarf is gorgeous! I’ve got so many of your patterns in my queue, lol.
Awwh, this was lovely to read - thank you Ruth!🥰🤗
I thought this was more complicated than it was and have had it in my to do list for a long time...... it’s fab, easy, and really fun 😊 thank you

Lovely scarf! You make it look so easy and your instructions are very clear. I think I WILL try it, so thank you for teaching this technique to us!
A pattern similar to this was one of the very first things I attempted to make when I was learning to crochet 45+ years ago
Also your little sample will make a perfect coaster !☕️
I was inspired by my 1970s Golden Hands Magazine! I saw the technique used in a blanket and instantly had to try!
Can I just say I loveee your videos. They are very easy to follow for a beginner like me.
Wonderful, this is the easiest scarf and well worth making.

Yay! You will enjoy making it Nora.😃🥰
I've just started this for one of my daughters and i love it💖💖💖
Hello Robin!
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.🥰🎄
Superb, my next project!

I really love this pattern. It will make it look like i'm a better crocheter than what I am!!! Thanks. Can't wait to show off one!
I just L💖💖💖VE the look of the scarf after weaving the yarn through!! 😍😍💖💖
I made this for my mom and absolutely loved it.
Yes, I’m most definitely will be making this scarf. Thanks for doing what you do!
Love this idea. I'm thinking of making a table runner with this technique! Your video was great! Thanks!
Thank you Elizabeth and great idea!😃🧶
This is so simple that it’s brilliant! Plus your yarn colors are so very pretty. I will be making this ...for sure. Thanks for sharing
