I worked all 4 products using Meguiar's Microfiber cutting and polishing discs, for 2 minutes on each product, and show the results for each.

Joe, good video, but to be fair the Hyper Paint Correction System(HPCS) is very much a System. As you eluded to in your video, results were not optimal. In this case you were using the Optimum Hyper Compound and Hyper Polish in replacement of the crèmes of the Meguiars polishing system. Inversely had you used the Meguairs products with unprimed Optimum Optimum No Rinse(ONR) dampened pads, low speed and no pressure their results would also not be optimal.
Both companies go to great lengths to engineer full systems that offer the best results when used as a system. Both work very well when used as such with very happy users of both systems around the world.
First off, I am extremely flattered to know that you've viewed my video and I greatly appreciate the feedback.
I am very aware that the results weren't optimal and that the application method is to blame there. This isn't my preferred method for using Optimum's products, but I wanted to keep it as a fair comparison between all products by using them in the same manner.
I've always had excellent success with Optimum's HPCS when used in a different manner (HC on a heavy cut MF pad, followed by HP on cut and polish MF pads), and it is one of the easiest products I've used since I've begun detailing.
I'm wanting to test out more of Optimum's products and see how well it works for me on a rotary, as it's been over a decade since I've used one. I've watched many of the videos you/Optimum have put out over the years and the classes you've taught to others, and they've been a wonderful resource for me in understanding how your products work, and the best scenarios to use them for. I would like to do a full comparison between Optimum's HPCS and Meguiar's M105/205 used in their intended manners to give a bigger image for viewers to see the differences and nuances for both products, how they work, and what detailing with both products fully entail.
I'm always open to criticism and feedback, and would love to hear more from you, and get your feedback as I get to put out more content.
JoeMartinMVC thank you, yes they are both very widely used and good systems. Ultimately it’s down to the users choice. I’m older, and prefer a rotary myself. With Hyper Polish for finishing, a Black Waffle Pad with your rotary at 600rpm will give you best results.
Personally, I've never been too crazy for waffle pads, back when I used them they created issues for me, but that was also around ten years ago. It likely wouldn't hurt to re-visit them again and see if they've changes since those days, or work better for me when using Optimum's systems.
What're your thoughts on the hex-logic style pads that have been coming out on the market?
Ultimate Compound is derived from M105, and utilizes SMAT (Super Micro Abrasive Technology) abrasives that do NOT diminish.
Same goes for Ultimate Polish. It's based on M205.
I've had similar findings though. I really love the Ultimate twins and have since 2013. I've tried them with a variety of pads and machines, but my favorite is a Porter Cable 7424xp with green and blie Hex Logic pads. Those pads are made for Chemical Guys by Buff and Shine, so I'll use their flat "Grip" pads same foam, no design.
I actually prefer thos pads with Optimum too.
I love ultimate compound but the cutting power isn’t there!
Fortunately I've always had wonderful luck on it, just using more aggressive pads as needed. Though, there have been some exceptions with just stupidly hard paints over the years.

Hey when you use that pad with the ultimate compound did you get a better cut or would it be the same as a foam pad
The Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting pads are about the equivalent of an orange cutting pad (think Chemical Guys Hex-Logic or Lake County Orange Cutting pad)

@@james6jewel That's a hard one to answer really. M105 is a better cutting compound, but it dusts up a good bit. UC is awesome because it can be a one-step cut and polish and has a longer working time, so it doesn't dust up as much. UC also has more oils in it for dryer paints, so it really depends on the condition of the car you're working on.
@@JoeMartinMVC well it's a old paint I believe 94 Ford and I tried uc and worked great but I still have scratches might try the 105 and see might post video up and see what happens
@@JoeMartinMVC might try the 105 to cut little more then the uc see what happens also lol might have to check clear to see if I have room to wet sand a little
I'm here because I don't see a lot of people using Optimum Hyper Compound and Polish! They are my absolute favorite to work with as far as the user experience..
The compound can cut better than most people realize, it is just *very* pad dependent. But especially with a rotary, using the Hyper pair is just a great experience.
I've used several bottles of Ultimate Compound, for a retail product under $10 it's quite good. Especially for a 1 step or mild defects, or people working by hand. But I just don't like the removal and the behavior of the lubrication agents. M105 I get dusting and mediocre cutting. My favorite for heavy cutting is Sonax CutMax hands down.. and CarPro ClearCut a distant 2nd..
People dont like to say it, but good finish polishes are kind of all the same for the most part.. They either finish well, or they don't. I use 205 and 210 and Optimum, a couple others..

I’ve been wanting to test out Optimum’s compounds with a rotary, I just no longer have one. If people end up asking for comparisons or reviews with one though, I’ll invest in one for the community.
I’ve always enjoyed m105, but absolutely hate the extreme amount of dusting it’s always had.
Thanks for the video! This might be a dumb question, but when you do the IPA wipe down, is there a certain percentage of alcohol that you prefer? 70% or 91%?
I always use 91%, but either will work fine. Depending on how oily of a substance you're dealing with sometimes 70% will require a second pass to remove it all.

Does you know what’s the best scratch remover product for cars I’m trying to get surface scratches out of car I park my car in a dusty sandy area
For very light swirls from being in a dusty area I'd go with either Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, or M205.
Can you do a side by side of 205 and ultimate polish. Also you should have tested d300 instead of d301. It's an amazing product.
I sure can. I'll try to get a more even comparison for doing that one by doing some sanding marks to 1500 or 2000 grit and testing the polishes against them.
@@JoeMartinMVC Look forward to it. Should also try throw 210 ultra fine cut in. But from what I have read this is only really good at refining even more on softer paints so not sure what paint you will be testing If you decide to use it. Keep me posted. Thanks
@@trackmedixuk I've actually been wanting to try out 110/210 but have not gotten my hands on it yet. Once I do get some I'll do a comparison between it and 105/205.
