    I have both a 2018 model X and 2022 model Y. A lot of what you say I agree, although the X is better for ride comfort with air suspension, and I have never had any problem with the falcon doors. Against the X the heating/ac is far better on model Y - I very much notice that these cold winter nights. The free supercharging is huge benefit if you travel long distances, although very difficult to get used one with that included (I have had my X from new). On my 2018 I get up to 150kw/h supercharging and that is more usual for an X. However the Y is a great car, and I enjoy driving either. The X is more of a special car, while the Y is a safer buy.

    My 2023 Tesla X is outstanding in everyway. Charges extremely fast, falcon doors are functional and work flawlessly. The ride on air suspension is far superior to the Y when it comes to comfort. The adjustable 17" screen is amazing and fast. On the the road, even at high speeds it's quiet with it's double insulated windows seals and double pane glass. Not quite sure where all this negativity is coming from, particularly since I have had such a positive experience with the model X.

    Great video, Myck. I lusted for a used MX, but really glad I got a MY. I really hope the MY doesn’t present any big maintenance issues after the warranty expires. But, by then I will be almost 80 so it might not matter! So glad I finally got my Tesla, I am enjoying it on so many levels.

    I’m in the same headspace. I test drove a Y today, going to test drive a X tomorrow. I’m leaning towards the X, but listening to the logic in your video. The wings on the X are part of the deal, additionally it’s the cargo space.
    If I were to get a used X it would be a 2019//2020. On the opposite side the Y would be brand new.

    • @Myksgarage

      The new Y long range is a fantastic deal right now, with almost a $13,000 recent price drop, and if you qualify for the new $7500 tax credit, it's an even better deal.

    Winter 2023 in my 2019 Model X. Great video, it’s nice to hear peoples experience. I purchased my X used in 2022 it’s been a year. I love it! No issues.
    I’m a cruiser no kids, I came from a 2020 5 series BMW I could not step into a minimalist interior. I had to have a more luxury car. Wanted the MS but, had been longing for an SUV to hall my camera gear around. The 7 seater with seats folded down was key in most room offered.
    I needed the instrument cluster, and I needed a more normal front end. The model Y and 3 front end don’t do it for me. I’m about looks, and luxury. Yes we have a market for that. In my opinion the model X and S are more luxury. I don’t mind giving up miles, as I just commute around town and I have plenty for that. I’m not traveling cross country everyday.
    The smarter decision would have been new y if I wanted more efficiency, and warranty. I chose to spoil my self and not give up on what I found more appealing. I’m not regretting it at all. Yes, the falcon doors are embarrassing at times, but at the same time makes you feel like you have the ultimate exotic ride on the block especially with the 22’S on it. :)

    You did do this in 2022 when prices were higher but you also had an older x which had mcu1, was pre raven (no pm motor in front so no regen to hold) and no adaptive suspension. In sept 2023 we got a 2020 performance 7 seater model x for 60k with only 50k miles. We have heated everything, raven upgrade, mcu2 etc. Tinted rear windows and hatch glass which factory I think. Range on that is stated original 305 miles and charging is now up to 200 kw. It also came of course with full self driving computer 3.0 and included basic autopilot like all cars in 2020. They also improved the sensors and added some in the doors. The falcon wings were more of an issue in the older xs but not as much in the newer ones. I realized if buying a used s or x, never buy a pre raven. (pre sept 2019) (then you also get mcu2) We have had no issues yet other than a rock etc chipping and cracking the windshield which was replaced. The falcon wing doors are great, work great and are very functional. They can open and close before reaching vehicle and after leaving. Like how I install a powered frunk as well which I use all the time and also installed in our 2018 model 3. We have a lr dual motor 3 and do not see handling issues and lack of fun when driving the X. Sorry. The only minor things I miss in the x vs 3 or y, is no phone as a key, keycard as backup, and doing other light shows. Not a big deal. Handles amazing, almost no body roll, more comfortable ride, quieter, smoother, more room, an an actually usable 3rd row. Model Y 3rd row is barely usable and only for small children or very short adults.

    debating same thing - new Y vs. used X. I would spend an extra $20k for a 2019 or 2020 Raven X with 351 mile range. Don't like the falcon wing doors, but the ride seemed so much better on the air suspension. you seemed to bounce around quite a bit on your video. I am not sure it is a good thing for your 2016 used MX when you mentioned it got extended factory warranty AND you used it quite often during your ownership. Having extended factory warranty is nice but NOT having to use it because the car does not need any repairs is even better.

    Great video, thank you. Quick question, by purchasing the Model X, I can write it all off for my taxes since I have my own business. Would you purchase the used Model X if it were a 2019 version (newer than your 2016) instead of the new Model Y? I have a Model Y on order but because it's under 6,000 pounds, I can't write off the entire purchase amount for the Y on my taxes, I'd have to depreciate it over 5 years instead. That's how I'm looking at this decision between used Model X and new Model Y.

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's a great point and 1 advantage to the model x. The X is a great car, I just couldn't handle going back to those falcon doors regardless of the year. But if your solely basing it on the tax deduction then maybe the X is for you? Good luck in your decision!
