I just picked up a 2023 Plaid in ultra red and white interior with 6k miles for just $78k There’s a few big upgrades in the 2023 and later models. Mostly around the move to hardware 4 and the center console going to 16gb of ram plus tilt screen. That extra ram and higher quality hardware will likely give more longevity technologically speaking to future updates to FSD and other features.

Id expect a 60K mile model S plaid in good condition to be worth 30K in less than 2 years.
I don't think insurance is the problem. I owned a performance Model S in the past with 720hp and it was very reasonable to insure. All of the safety features with the car make it a safer vehicle and therfore insurance is not as high
@Myksgarage not sure where you live. However, in NY the difference between a 50K car vs the model S plaid would be in the hundreds a months difference lol
What cars are you comparing? A Lincoln Navigator does not do a 0-60 in under 3 seconds. So insurance on a $100k Navigator would be lower than a $100k Tesla Model S Plaid!
@davidbeppler3032 it's not the just cost that determines insurance. A Tesla has substantially less parts than let's say an audi rs7 does. They are both from an insurance perspective very fast. The issue is not the speed. It's cost of repairs plus the % of accidents that lead to a totaled car. For one example. Statistically if an new Audi RS7 and Tesla plaid both get into an accident at 20mph. The Tesla would, by an order of magnitude, have a much greater chance of being deemed a total loss. Thus over time costing more to the insurance companies.
In 2016, the Model S P100DL was first production mid 10sec car, and it was over $100k. 8yrs later, their in the high $20's to mid 30's. The same will be for the Plaids in another 4 years
When it comes to a practical efficient daily, nothing beats a used Tesla right now. They're so cheap and hold SO much value. Are they at the build quality of a bmw or audi, no. Are they perfectly good enough for the overall package? I would say absolutely
They are that bad just good for one or 2 hard braking from 150mph then they are useless for 20 or so minutes. They are perectly fine for everyday driving.... hell normal driving you never use the brakes anyway ( one pedal driving) Ive only had break fade once after 2 drag strip runs.
EV prices do depreciate significantly quicker, but their insurance rates have also skyrocketed as insurance companies have been writing them off completely for anything beyond very minor dings. My 5 year old Model X insurance is 3x what my new Porsche ICE car runs at over twice the replacement cost. That's a perfect driving record, no claims ever. If I was looking at a Tesla again, I would go with a non-plaid S for the higher range, I've had all the performance options and while it's fun to show off and use a couple times a year but just a big waste of money and battery/range performance. Otherwise wait for the Model Y refresh and future release of upscale options or performance model like the M3 received.
For an extra 40k just save and get a new one. Refreshed yoke and seats as well as lights. I wouldn’t buy a used beat on plaid that’s getting close to not being under warranty. Still amazing value for what you get.

The market has voted "no" for performance EVs. Market wants comfort and convenience (hence the higher M3 and Model Y sales, and Tesla losing ground to EV makers that can make a quality car instead of appliance attached to a performance motor)

So if a Tesla was purchased at $50,000. Replacing a battery at $20,000 is still a pretty good deal.

Yes, just to let everybody know my cyber truck was starting at 32amp. It would run that for a while then dropping down to 6 AMP and this was the charging system they provided in the kit that cost $250. I got a new one and it works just fine thank you.
Nah, there are German imports that depreciate worse. Look at some of the six figure Audi like the e tron GT, BMW and Benz high performance models after 2-3 yrs or so. Porsche panamera turbo is another one that depreciates badly. I know I’d rather have a used Tesla over the euro stuff ,since the cost to maintain/repair can be astronomical compared to ev’s, and I’m not an ev fan.

I would say wait until fall of 2025. By this time, the 4yr/50k warranty will be gone and people will be trying dump them onto the market in lieu of a replacement. This should flood the market more and pull the price down. Also, EV prices are dropping across the board with lower sales, generally speaking, so this also adds to the price dropping. Be patient, get your finances ready, and just wait to snipe one when it pops up. You may need to travel or have it shipped to you but I'm pretty confident that at least 2021 S Plaids will become more abundant as time passes. I'm expecting mid- to upper-40s by the end of next year. Even less for the higher mileage ones. Probably less if a newly redesigned Model S shows up next year.

Because they had monopoly on the idiots, and don't ever call a tesla a luxury car again lol not even close. Finally with everyone else beating tesla and doing it better, now they have to lower costs
Are you going to drag race the car? If not, why would anyone buy this car? Its styling is bland, and it's built poorly. All the other cars you mentioned that have comparable horsepower are mostly works of art. This is not. It's just fast. People realize you can't use 1000 horsepower on city streets without dying or killing someone else. Without the horsepower, it's just an expensive Model 3.
Do you know too many people who care about 10 year old cell phones? Neither do I. That's the appeal of the plaid. It is a soulless, worthless appliance. Nobody cares about it and no one will care about in next 10 years. Acceleration with no soul gets boring extremely quick. Now answer this, where and when will you be using the full accelerations and top speed potential? Merging on freeway? People love 1960s muscle cars, 1990s Japanese turbo cars etc because those cars have soul, they have character, they evoke emotions from the sounds they make, from how they look, from how they feel. Tesla plaid lacks all of this. It is a cell phone on wheels that can accelerate.
Because the Tesla doesn't have gas guzzling, inefficient, maintenance laiden, fuel burning engine it has no "soul"!!?? So said they when the automobile first came out as they lamented giving up their beloved horse and carriage.....

I'll be looking into a used plaid versus a new MP3.
Yeah it's a lot of car at these prices
With this being a used Model S, is the Estimated 0-60 mph acceleratuon still accurate?
I haven't heard that age will make a difference. Only thing I can think is perhaps the total range is slightly less than when new
The market has voted "no" for performance EVs. Market wants comfort and convenience (hence the higher M3 and Model Y sales, and Tesla losing ground to EV makers that can make a quality car instead of appliance attached to a performance motor)
You're right, the market has spoken, Tesla has delivered 1,293,890 cars in the first 9 months of this year (2024).
@@Myksgarage Tesla's YoY growth stagnated and declined. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid sales are skyrocketing, and gas cars are doing great... TOYOTA (lmao) is growing sales faster than Tesla and sells 11 million vehicles a year. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at Tesla's stagnating unit sales
Tesla warranty on battery is non existing. You go to tesla with battery that's degraded Tesla says "Battery is in good condition".
Yeah… no.. my nine year old model S still gets 230 miles range. New was 250 miles.. 10% loss over 9 years.. do more research on battery life..
If the battery goes bad, they will replace it
Supercharging is cute at first untill it gets played out then u realize how much time n money u loose on charging 🤧✌️✌️
Well, supercharging it just meant when your road tripping
Plug in at home and dont worry about it.
Batteries are lasting beyond 250,000 miles with as little as 10% degradation. Not sure where you are getting your information.
I didn't say the batteries are failing
@@Myksgarage I'm paraphrasing, 'people that buy them are gambling because the battery are very expensive to replace.'
I'm suggesting batteries with 150,000 mi still may have another 100,000 mi left before replacing. A Tesla replacement battery cost ranges from $5,000 to $20,000. So if a Tesla was purchased at $50,000. Replacing a battery at $20,000 is still a pretty good deal.
🎉🎉🎉 I might scope one myself 🎉🎉🎉
Yeah there are some great deals on this car right now, I'm holding out for even lower prices!
Honeymoon lasted 3 weeks now I want to sell it. It’s a 22 plaid with 30k miles. I only drove it 700 miles.
How much?
Are the accelerations giving you a headache??
@@Myksgarage not at all, I’m just over it. It’s a cool car but I am not in love with it.
No passion in it, had mine and let ikt go.. great daily car though, would get one now just for that ... Teslas are the new dailys but not a passion car
@@jasonsmith1143 but u don’t so u ain’t buying shit.

Yeah it's an awesome car!
can you put a plaid battery pack on a model s 2017?
I wouldn't think so
Do you have any information on why my cyber truck is charging at 32 amp which that is max amperage for the cord that they give you but after it runs for a while it drops down to 6 amp and the red light flashes it seems like it flashes, red more than it’s green Consistently happening which is taken it extremely long to charge. What am I doing wrong thank you.
You might need to schedule service
Probably the charger is bad.
Yes, just to let everybody know my cyber truck was starting at 32amp. It would run that for a while then dropping down to 6 AMP and this was the charging system they provided in the kit that cost $250. I got a new one and it works just fine thank you.
With introduction of new Model 3, the Model S feels and looks dated. This and X in desperate need of major makeover.
Which is interesting because it's only 3 years old since the last makeover
Model X Plaid…….Yes please
Yes, there are some good deals on those as well right now
I'll wait for x plaid to hit 40k
It'll be there before you know it
The fastest depreciating car… in the world.
🤣
Nah, there are German imports that depreciate worse. Look at some of the six figure Audi like the e tron GT, BMW and Benz high performance models after 2-3 yrs or so. Porsche panamera turbo is another one that depreciates badly. I know I’d rather have a used Tesla over the euro stuff ,since the cost to maintain/repair can be astronomical compared to ev’s, and I’m not an ev fan.
@@Cryptodegen2A those OEMs did not reduce their MSRP like Tesla did. The original plaid S MSRP was $140k.
I’ve been thinking the same. I am a CyberTruck reservation holder and already have a great gas PUp. He used plaid makes sense.
Yeah it will only get cheaper over time
Thought. 💭 Dave Mira was 😢still here… man

Yeah I want one too!!
That’s the fastest depreciation car in the world.
Yup!!
Don't try to catch a falling knife.
I know it's hard to time the market, but the longer I wait, the cheaper they keep getting
Cars are not homes or property that appreciate in fact 98% of all cars depreciate.
Yes
One of those would be a pretty cool first car for my son
Hahaha!! That would be a crazy car for a teenager!
Actually it has parent control mode now. So you can set it on the low setting and lock it until he gets ready for the next level. In slow mode it runs like a 15-second quarter mile
I purchased a pre-owned Model 3 Performance from Tesla and it’s such a bang for your buck. I’m loving the car maybe in the future I’ll upgrade to the Model S Plaid (Pre-owned of course).
Yeah that's a great way to buy these cars!
If you are thinking of buying a used Tesla, better do it today! After 10/10 they will all be sold if Tesla Cab starts.
Who is going to buy them all?
@@Myksgarage Why would you buy a car for $30k that will make you $30k a year? Math.
@@davidbeppler3032i'll bet you my house and everything in my bank account nothing changes in a week 😂
FSD wouldn't be in such a sorry state if robo taxi was a week away. And also all the insiders would've already bought and skyrocketed Tesla share price. Meanwhile Tesla is selling is selling its leases to cover debt.

@@YumboYack2521 Yes. Math is hopium. You hope you get paid. You hope you can pay your bills. You hope to retire.
i owned a s5 audi in 2013 that i paid 69,000 before tax ,, had it 3 yrs put 8000 miles on it ,, could only get 37000 for it .. mint condition. after that had about 4 land rovers ,, all of them lost the same value,, cars lose value that's the moral of the story.
Yeah that's a good point!
Good advice, thanks for sharing this!!
Ita dropping in value for a reason. They get boring once ur used to it unlike real sports cars that have an engaging feel. Its a one trick poney.
It would be hard to imagine 0-60mph in 1.99 seconds ever get boring. But I don't own one yet so I can't say, but I do really want one and these cheaper prices are getting me excited!!
@@Myksgarage really depends on what u have driven before and what u havent. If u have never owned a super fast car it will be amazing. If you've owned high end porsches, amgs, Ms, lambo,etc.. it'll get to a point where u miss the engagment and WOW factor of sitting in them and just looking at ur car. Teslas are very bland except for the 0-60 time. I think the market speaks for itself. If everyone was buying them up when it was 140k obv they wouldn't of lowered the price
I had the opportunity to drive one for 2 weeks as my Model Y was getting repaired by Tesla and I drove that Plaid like I stole it and there was never a moment that I was ever bored of the way it drove. Amazing car! I’ve owned many modified BMW M cars and the Paid blows them all away and no stupid oil leaks and maintenance issues I had with my BMWS. My 2021 Model Y has been extremely reliable but unfortunately had a seat part on back order so Im not going back to an ICE car
Haven’t gotten bored with my Plaid and I owned a Panamera Turbo prior. Plus the Plaid saves me a couple hundred dollars a month in running costs
I have a supercharged corvette sitting in my garage collecting dust bunny's. Like the plaid so much, nothing else compares to it in my opinion.
S model long overdue for redesign…
What? It's only been 3 years since the refresh
I rode in a Model S Plaid about 2 months ago. The takeoff is euphoric, but I'm happy with my Model Y LR with acceleration boost.
Yeah it's crazy fast!
Just what we all want. A sports car that was ridden hard and put away wet. 😂
No thanks. Buy new
I'll take one all day long
This video sucks for your dad, since he got ripped off by Tesla.
Yeah but that's the risk you take when you pay that much for a brand new model
Whos buying these fast Plaids cars? Soccer mom? Or Car enthusiasts? No matter how fast it goes on a straight line, it is lack of the true driver experience. After awhile it gets boring going 0-60 in 2 seconds or less without that screaming ENGINE!
You obviously never drive one....
Carpe Diem! You'll be to old in 3-4 Years to own a Cybertruck!
Oh?
This is not real PLAID owners dont want to sell his plaids because they dont want to drive a slower car 😂😂😂

You can also add that it has the best overall software of all the other EV’ brands on the market another huge huge selling point
The plaid is currently an absolute steal at 50 K
Nobody ever make it 1.99 sec. 😂😂
Close enough
I'm not interested in a pseudo car that goes fast for short distances.
Pray tell what is a pseudo car?
Because they had monopoly on the idiots, and don't ever call a tesla a luxury car again lol not even close. Finally with everyone else beating tesla and doing it better, now they have to lower costs
Luxury car, Luxury car!! 😀
You dont want to buy 50k miles Tesla plaid……
Oh? Please expound....
I plan on dragracing mine
Meh 😒 … I’ll buy a new Mustang Dark Horse
That's fine
All Tesla prices are falling, just poorly built cars . Getting worse every day . Other EVs are going down also. Tesla and others are having a hard time selling. Nobody wants the HUGE Hassle of EV ownership
