How I Prepare for Job Interviews With A Stutter and Still Land the Job Like a Boss

  • Like a lot of people I stutter and after college I has to start looking for work. Even though I stutter that didn't stop me from getting job interviews and final offers of employment. The advice I give took me 10 years to figure out by trial and error. I don't have a degree in Speech Pathology, I am completely self-taught.

    If you know someone who stutters, let me know what it's like to interact with them. If you stutter yourself, let me know what you do to prepare for interviews.

      Fazle, you may want also to look at Michael Williams work on fluent speech. He has a TH-cam channel

    Stuttering is an indication of confidence for some people...regardless of whether you can do the job.

    Yeah, I stuttered and I haven't discovered my speech pattern. I always treated it like a problem and I need to embrace it.

    • @theTSAguy
      @theTSAguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Use you hands to speak, it gives your brain a pattern to follow. Pretend like your an orchestra conductor and let you speech follow your hands. Watch how Elvis sings and allows his hands to guide his rythm.
      Hot tip: Elvis stuttered too

    Thanks for this video. I am currently on job interviews, I always get anxious and start stuttering more but I always finish saying what I have to say. My only worry is if stuttering won't make a bad impression with the people that are hiring cause the job I am looking for needs good communication skills.

      My entire job is talking to people all day because I do interviews. My stuttering wasn’t wasn’t held against me because I didn’t focus on it and I showed that it is my weakness but it’s not an obstacle.

    I stutter moderately. I am about to start working from home as a customer service representative. I am so nervous, but I really wanted to work from home and I was so tried of letting my stutter keep me from taking on jobs I think I would be good at. I am very articulate and full of ideas so I knew I could do more. You are right that some stutters let their anxiety and other peoples perception hold them back. However, this is why we have to have thicker skin and go for opportunities to overcome our stutter. Really most stuttering does not get resolved with out facing our anxiety head on.

    I used to stutter badly; on top of that; I have a hearing loss. I got bullied all the time.
    As I got older, I didn't give a fk about my stuttering suddenly; I didn't stutter anymore but still have a hearing loss.

    I , as a rather severe stutterer, watched every youtube video on this topic. Most were really not helpful, like the advice just tell them you stutter and super basic stuff. Your video was cool because you come across as a very likeable person and you tell a story we naturally follow the content of becuase you smile a lot and made the stuttering not really an issue so you are kind of demonstrating while giving your information. Well done.

    This video inspired me a lot. I’m an airline pilot and i stutter, my stuttering doesn’t affect my job because i dont see it as a deficiency but it affects my confidence when i’m not in a familiar or comfortable environment especially on job interviews. I’ve an interview tomorrow and i hope my stuttering doesn’t affect the outcome of the interview, i’m glad I stumbled on this video. Great video👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

    Hello Fazle, I applied for 2 Tsa position at 2 different locations. Do I have to complete a CBT test for each location?

    • @theTSAguy
