@@LaZarusXtnct nope. heat is fun. you must suck at racing games so go back to star wars battlefront 2 and be toxic their and let car people enjoy their car games.
yea exactly how I feel, when I first saw you had to do different challenges just to unlock certain cars, it just seems like extra work instead of a game, the unlock with rep was better
@@nicechasinchasegods7051 Not really, if you knew how to exploit the cops you basically could unlock all of the cars very fast. At least Unbound has more of an actual progression feel.
@@Phoenix_Destiny_Kai bro i can literally escape the cops at 100 mph thats tooo easy at least heat cops actually gave u a challenge… it made it more realistic. Its based off preference i guess. I like having to sweat to get away from the cops. Unbound my 6 yr old brother can escape the cops at max heat level lol
Heat never gets boring for me. The cop chases are intense and fun, the sense of speed is great, the sound design is on point (especially with turbochargers), the customization is very wide, and one of my favorite things to do is recreate movie cars and experiment with new builds, it’s easy to earn money, all of the races are free, you can choose whether you want to play during night or day, and it’s storyline is entertaining and not TOO challenging. I played unbound myself to see the difference, and comparing the two, I can say, with confidence, that I like Heat more.
@@FSUSean2112fr, really the only reason why people hate on these games is because of their soundtracks. They say, “music sucks, therefore the entire game sucks” and don’t even play the game. I myself am not a fan of the soundtracks to these games, but that doesn’t stop me from playing the game itself. Plus, you can just turn off music and play your own playlist.
@@purwantiallan5089pretty sure he was talking about how in heats garage, you can place your favorite cars in separate spaces and can view them in the background when tuning your primary vehicle. A really cool feature that’s unfortunately not in unbound. Unbounds garage was boring to look at, felt too cramped and was seriously underwhelming overall
I wish Unbound had the same free access to races like Heat, the same possibilities to decide wether I want to race solo or against other players and the day/night switch. I‘d probably wouldn’t lay a finger on Heat again. But with those limitations in Unbound I find myself playing Heat again and enjoying it a lot.
I actually like NFS Heat better than Unbound. I mean don't get me wrong NFS Unbound is cool but you really have to scratch and claw your way through it were as Heat you can just fly through the game so my favourite is Heat
I think both have their ups and downs and since I don't have unbound, you don't gotta listen to me. But both are good games, no one cam disagree with that or they're lying
I like nfs heat because of map design and car sounds. For unbound on the other hand, the map layouts are so gray and feels like you are in the dark crowded city similar to bladerunner, the cars and customization are always winnable. Including the story as well because the players was able to deliver to the old owner by bringing the legendary m3 instead beating up all over again. but things aside, heat that I always come back because of gameplay mechanics. >
honestly, the game's been out for a while, but there are enough people who enjoy the story so imo you shouldn't be spoiling it like that (about the m3)
TH-cam recommended me this video after i uninstalled NFS: unbound out of frustration. Almost everything was pissing me off in that game, except car modification. I completed NFS: Heat on 100% and i know i will come back some day, this game just had a VIBE. I don't know how to describe this, but the feeling while driving cars, map in the style of miami, mixed legal and illegal races with that sweet realistic graphics and very fitting music, when it all comes together it becomes a pure pefrection for me.
Absolute. I am currently very close to uninstall Unbound. This car level mechanic (B A A+ S S+) is so stupid because i dont want to hold back the potencial of my cars just to compete in slower races.
Things i like in Heat over Unbound (keep in mind im not a NFS longtime fan or anything) • The Seamless Day Night Transition • The Drifting • The Setting • The online coop races Things I like in Unbound over Heat • Customization (Car and Driver) • Visuals • The Nos System
Yeah you didn't say the handling system, because there is no handling system. Modern NFSs suck so bad😂 Excluding 2012 MW, and 2010 Hot Pursuit, and 2011 The run.
I like NFS Heat's colour pallette, neon blue n pink is really pretty n has that night street race look. NFS Unbound is a game that kinda fixes most of the issues in NFS Heat, n is presented in a more, creative n unique way. Kinda like that as well.
Well, i guess the lack of npcs? Well, thats it i guess 😅 idonno, i dont even play Unbound. I just like Unbound's style direction. Looks artistic.@@WillVRam
I love how this gave the introspective of Head vs Heart, "The facts say this, but I want that". The video and all your points in it are great with well-thought explanations, but you had a horse in this race (pun intended. lol) and I respect you for sticking with your own research instead of trying to change it up to fit the narrative your heart wanted.
That's great and all but don't forget that playing a game bc it's better statistically and playing a game bc it's near and dear to you are two different things
The reason i think you want heat to be the winner is that you like the different(and quite original compared to other nfs games)of legal races the day and illegal the night,it feels better and you don t need to escape from cops all the time, and the system of reputation gives you kind of a challenge to get the most reputation without getting caught by police
I prefer the heat, because the party can accommodate 8 people, I don't like to run the leaderboard, I don't like stand-alone games, I like the excitement, and the day and night are separated, so I prefer the exciting night
I don't hate Unbound and it isn't a bad game, I just think I'm biased with Heat since it was my first NFS since Undercover on Xb360. Just sucks that Criterion was forcefully pulled from supporting Heat a year early, and the extra year delay for Unbound felt like it wasn't utilised to the fullest, despite having a lot of upgrades from Heat it just didn't have the same fun factor for me.
Heat is by far the best NFS game as of now. The freedom you have in customization, racing whoever you want, and whatever you want instead of being subjected to BS lobbies in (Unbound) is so freeing. As well as the seamless entrance and exit in night races is way to neat of a detail they added. The ability of others viewing you racing from a far, or join in is something I knew they should have added on before. It only stirs up others to join in on races and get together. Swapping from day to night is another cool detail I love as well as transporting from safehouse to safehouse like Midnight Club LA. Building up your favorite car while progressing throughout the story was one of the highlights, instead of having to purchase other random shitty cars to spend stupid amount of cash on in (Unbound) is the worst. Not receiving enough cash in return. NFS HEAT literally exhibits Fast & Furious vibes. I enjoy just chilling for the timer to start for NFS Heat races and driving during the meantime till the race starts. I hate having to wait in those stupid lobbies in Unbound. They definitely should've added additional vehicles, it would've made the game that much better. But overall I still play NFS Heat when I have free time in Night races. The joy I have showing off my BMW M5 and smoking others in it, is the joy I haven't felt since Midnight Club LA and Most Wanted. though MW did not have multiplayer option. NFS HEAT hands down, is theee best NFS so far. Unbound is trash.
I still love HEAT, still waiting for Unbound to be on Sale. Heat gave me the excitement of driving, the city near the waters is just make sense with Off Road racing, the soundtrack match the atmosphere there. If i wanted challenges, I'll go for night racing for Parts and the cops is so fun to mess around with even though it gave me anxiety when trying to get away with it😂
I honestly don't understand the hate people have for unbound. It tried something new in art style and driving mechanics. I'm actually physically addicted to the burst nos. And the fact that both drift and grip are viable deserves respect. The only thing this has against it are the cops
I completely agree with you about people's hate for unbound, it also baffles me too. Another thing I don't get is why people are complaining about the drifting in unbound it's miles better than heats drifting which feels forced, it doesn't feel nice or fun. I think people just don't understand how the drifting works in unbound. Because they don't realise that car choice is almost as important as the build and tune. To some degree engine choice is also a factor, for me the drifting in unbound takes more skill and has a higher skill ceiling too imo. It also feels a lot more rewarding due to the handling being more fine tuned and better in general.
I think that unbounds art direction brings back the style factor that need for speed had back in the day, it was never trying to be super realistic but make you feel like a og fast and furious esc driver, I think sticking to this is the key to need for speed being able to distinguish itself against games like forza that offer a more direct arcade-sim experience
Unbound is an objectively superior game from a feature & data standpoint, as you effectively demonstrated, and while I do enjoy Unbound, it has never even approached the "fun factor" of Heat for me personally. In those initial months of playing Heat, I literally couldn't wait to get back to it every single day. I went on vacation a couple months in and literally brought a PS4 with me because I didn't want to be away from the game for a week Lol. This was the case even before finding your channel; just me playing the game by myself... I enjoyed the heck out of it. I enjoy Unbound, but I've never once felt a pull to it like I did with Heat. I'm happy to find time to play, but I don't "need" to play and consequently don't find myself prioritizing it.
This right here! I did the same last year on vacation. Took the PS4 with me so I could grind Heat. I recently started playing Unbound and I was determined to give it a fair shot. Then about 2 weeks ago I decided to play Heat and I haven't gone back to Unbound since.😅
Bro that's so true, I went to college and came back craving play Heat, I went on the demo for Unbound and it didn't click woth like heat did, personally I prefer heat and make your words mine as well
I agree with Heat having a special spot in my heart, but I’ve honestly enjoyed Unbound a lot since it came out. I agree with your previous videos about what Unbound should add to the next volume, and I hope they listen!
@@user-ju1li5jw4hMetacritic seemingly flirted towards EA. Unbound got 80, F1 22 on PS5 got 79, F1 23 got 82 and FC 24 got 76! FC 24 and Unbound on Metacritic should've been 33 and 36!!?
Haven't had the opportunity to play Unbound yet, BUT, I absolutely LOVE NFS HEAT, I hadn't played a race car game in YEARS, and once I played it, I was hooked, I absolutely love NFS HEAT, it's not a perfect game but IT IS MY FAVORITE GAME TO PLAY, PERIOD.
the car depth made unbound miles ahead of heat for me. I had overall 200 hours in heat. meanwhile in unbound i already have 395 hours. and i still have so many cars to try out and build. in unbound i spent millions building cars for different tiers and the burst nitrous mechanic + learning manual made me feel like i had a skill to increase to work on. Unbound needs leaderboards in game and drag and drift racing in the next update and it’s gonna be in a good state again.
Unbound was just the worst release by EA and the NFS franchise by any measure. While mine played 20 hours of unbound and I'm already tired of any weak content and little to do after it ends, in heat I'm close to 570 hours of gameplay with 15 of same cars with different tunings and always with creativity to create more and more since the garage is unlimited, the tuning is much wider and better, the mod project Unite is much better in itself than everything else, the feeling of speed, the feeling of running away from the police with much more difficulty that reminds me of MW and the amount of online players doing roleplay and drift tandems or whatever while I enter an unbound server where there are 4 people with the same car doing the same race all the time not to mention the damn and garbage Cartoon effects in a supposedly colored game racing that was previously known to be street and gang fighting each other, heat also has a lot of cars and mechanics to build and the option to select which day or night mode to farm while unbound doesn't give you options, a lot more races and events, a lot more difficulty in everything it's not my opinion it's also the opinion of the reviews and critics.
As far as a whole experience, I still much prefer Heat. The forced day/night cycle really does impact the single player side negatively and as far as multiplayer, having it seperate and having to unlock everything twice is very frustrating and imo a frustrating experience at to increase gameplay time.
3 Little things separate me from the two. Heat: I love the ocean, beaches and swampy areas, railroad tracks Unbound: I don't care for the Chicago map, it's just stale and boring to me. Heat: I adore the choice of day or night, I love the night in heat the most, it's at it's peak in graphics at night. Plus for me at night, I like interrupting players races, I troll them a bit (in my police rsr) lol, noob players are the most fun, I pin them in a spot, boom the cops arrest them, byebye all that rep lmfao Unbound: no comment, I hate the forced day to night cycle Lastly for heat: I love that you can build one car for the whole game, in online or solo. That car (me 2015 ford mustang gt) can be used in any race at anytime. You build it to 400+ boom💥 start on your next car. So simple Unbound: ugh wtf was ea thinking? What 5 car classes, you are forced to have multiple builds, forced separation from online & solo???? I hate discovering that all my progress in solo did nothing for my online, I was so furious 🤬 (get it Furya is Furious) Every game I play that has online, I like to play it solo for a few months to practice my skill and build my character up, unbound I was shocked when I found out the two were separate. That's why I left the game, I do not like the forced separation of online to solo modes, kinda like grand theft auto 5 I hate the separation of online to solo, same shit, different game I trash on unbound all the time, can't help it, imo it's a trashy game with a NFS logo, heat to me is a freaking bloody masterpiece and that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so 🍻 🖕🏻🖕🏻
I agree with you, heat It has a variety of things to do and reminds you of old NFS like MW and Carbon where even after doing everything you could do whatever you want freely, in unbound you are forced to follow a line for each car build and having to have two saves just because EA accuses players of making bugs that give advantages doesn't make any sense it was just her making such players punished or fixing the flaw would already solve what they fear, now creating two separate modes is the same thing as having to download Cod MW2 inside Warzone because they fear players trying to do offline/online glitches
Besides of these categories, i like heat more than unbound on it's gameplay styles. Heat had the way more adrenaline gameplay style than the unbound had, sense of speed and zooming camera effect was very catchy on it.
While I'll be honest, I haven't played Unbound, I've watched a lot of gameplays. Though this also up to personal taste, one thing you did not mention was the story. Personally, I like the story of Heat much better than that of Unbound. And part of me still wishes we'd gotten some sort of a continuation for it.
The story in heat though better is a moot point and though I agree a continuation would have been nice it's irrelevant because it was never gonna, from the happen the second that EA in their dumbass wisdom decided to gut ghost and shut them down. Part of me thinks that decision was influenced in part by the development of battlefield 2042. Or lack there of 😂
Going to play both. Want to play the one that has bad story first and will play the better story next. If I say that my most favourite NFS is The Run, you know I like high stakes serious story games where I feel emotionally oriented towards a goal rather than just goal oriented. (Jack had mobs at his back....loved that....Ryan Cooper wants to be best, I don't care!) Hope you get my point. Now after this, tell me which one is better so I play it later.
Heat is easily better. The only reason heat died out so fast is cuz ea refused to give it more updates and even after you still had plenty of full lobbies in the nighttime during heat races etc. Unbound feels way too sluggish and nearly every car doesn't feel enjoyable. Heat>Unbound no diff
To add on that heats night and day mechanic is better than unbounds non existing one, but regardless I have heat and im going to buy unbound because it has more cars and improved sound, although I will still play both
Imo, in terms of grind I go with Heat cause when you buy a car and max it by 400+, you'll be earning back the cash in little or no time. It's like you can experiment with a specific car and customize to your liking, as they have offroad and drift courses to match your playstyle. As for Unbound, you can't just set your specific car to a max 400+ (S+ Class) as you're gonna eat asphalt with the 3 most broken rubberbanding AI (Lyric, Shimizu, Medusa). You need to strategize when to race or hide as your heat level increases. I like how they bring back the old set of OG cars like the Eclipse and the RX8 as well as the police cars (Ford Victoria & Charger Hellcat). Such a bad move as they put the M3 GTR locked up on a paywall and a multiplayer exclusive, including the Custom Fairlady Z (Waru's car). Also, why haven't they release cars from the past games like Razor's/Rog's Mustang or Darius' R8 or the 5 Kings in Pro Street?
In its current state, Unbound falls behind Heat, basically due to the factors Trigger mentions. However, if (IF!) the strict day/night system would be removed and the overall replayability of Unbound would be fixed (somehow), it could beat Heat. These modifications would, however, alter the experience itself significantly and Unbound seems to be a game that does not want to acknowledge compromise - hence, Heat is likely to stay ahead, at least for me.
Both games are great! driving many cars in either games is awesome however Heats customization on the engine and have the potential to max out or swap the engine within the car was absolutely outstanding Heat felt good when drift racing or grip racing in the game whenever you race against friends or other player's. The total concentration on having the cops on your back was thrillin' but it was annoying at times. Heat levels did not hesitate to increase which made it all so fun.
My favorite video yet. The sheer amount of data you collected on your spreadsheet is astounding. I pretty much agree with everything. I love both games, but I feel Unbound slightly gets the nod for best NFS game.
Im thinking the same boss. It is slightly harder to master the drift mechanics (Which is why i believe the rating in the store is so low) but when your able to master nitrous after drifting to get back in a grip like straight line you will start to win a LOT more
Heat for me; more races, better map, better cops, better story/campaign, day-night cycle, more performance parts, better car sounds (besides a few exceptions), drift events are actual drift events and all in all more variety in event types
Interesting video, In relation to your scoring system One aspect that caught my attention was the significance of car accessibility (Get Additional Cars)and upgrades. Both in multiplayer and solo modes, upgrading the cars proved to be quite expensive and takes a serious grind, definitely affected by what you mentioned about how the speed traps or jumps aren't repayable unlocking cars in the multiplayer mode presented a challenge, exorbitant amount of time and effort. 30 playlists, for a car, each playlist consisting of three races, amounting to a total of 90 races just to unlock a single car.
Heat was easily better in my opinon the memories from that game giving me nostalgia and it was only like 2 years ago Heat was a top 3 game i ever played easily!
I just bought both games two weeks ago and finished heat tonight and started unbound. I have to say, I was taken back with how “similar” the whole game is as far as settings, driving, style etc. but unbound seems a bit more polished. Thoroughly enjoyed heat, and looking forward to diving deeper in unbound.
For me nfs heat walks away in style compared to unbound. The only thing i dont like about heat is the lack of cars. I have played nfs unbound for 2 - 3 weeks without a break and during those weeks i was so bored and disgusted by the cartoon effects. And the cops and nfs heat remind me of my all time favorite nfs game "rivals" cops in both heat and rivals are a serious challenge while in unbound you could be going 10 mph and they instantly die. Also i know the clipping and other glitches in heat are annoying but if you can get over those and not be annoyed then heat is a great game. For me heat wins.
3:27 The cops are SO UTTERLY EASY on the hardest setting which is annoying because it put it at that setting of the cops to be hyper difficult, instead the racers rubberbands 100% more than what I guess it usually is
Agreed, the cops in Heat are very intense and make you feel at the edge of your seat when you're being chased. It's like giving you that real experience of what it's like to be in a high-speed chase
I just tried them both out for the first time almost simultaneously. I’m struggling to decide but I think unbound takes the cake just bc the longevity of it. I probably won’t be playing heat a month from now but probably will be playing unbound.
Super subjective but I felt the city in Heat was just so much nicer. Like not just the Miami-esque skyline but also that cool sky bridge highway, the docks, etc. Wherever you go is really cool whereas in Unbound the whole thing is "boring non descript city" followed by "boring non descript suburb" followed by "boring non descript rural". The graphics are nice but they are just so forgettable.
I also have a soft spot for Heat. It is the first game after UG2, in this goddamn franchise, that I actually liked. It had great atmosphere, beautiful customization... and my nerdy ass created a very touching backstory for my driver, and that extra bit of context made every line of dialogue 10 times better, no matter how little most people care for the story in a racing game. I have spent lots of truly enjoyable hours playing Heat and I believe Ghost was a unique studio that didn't deserve all the hate. That said, Unbound is simply more unique and fresh. It isn't just a return to the franchise's -roots- best era like Heat is, it is its natural evolution. It feels like the first game after the Blackbox games.
I much prefer Heat due to the way Unbound included the weekly style structure, the buy-in to races and the heat increases after races. I just want to customize and race my cars man..
I remember once my friend and I were playing an online lobby of nfs heat, and no matter your heat level or how much you crash into cops, they would not chase. We were heat 5 and constantly hitting other cops in races, but no chases would start. That was the best glitch ever.
Heat has that extraction shooter element of risk and reward, that comes from aggressive police, fast cars and traffic. Unbound just missed that police aggressiveness, you don’t feel fretted, or at much risk at all. Tbh art style doesn’t help, in heat then you go fast at night, colours start turning blur and you have real sense of speed and in unbound it feels safe. Heat in the day is boring but at night it makes up for that. The hard police at start set a fear then going above heat 2 is a death sentence if spotted and then slowly working up to cars that can survive heat 5 is what keeps you hooked. The handling could be a gripe, for me it is. Drifting can just stop your car immediately. I hope that one day we get assetto corsa level of realism’s in to need for speed street racing while evading cops type of gameplay with wild customisation. From popularity of manhunts in fh4/5, bmg drive, popularity of traffic maps in AC and AC evo coming out with open world, hope one day we get something like this with more realistic physics.
For me both are masterpieces and special But heat to me gets better spot in my heart because it made NFS comeback from payback that was shit to an instant masterpiece in 2 years time
I loved Heat but the length of Unboud, while not enjoyed by most, is refreshing to me. I played after the updates for cash so my experience may be diffrent than most, but the feeling of steady progression and unfolding story was basically all that was missing from Heat for me, as well as the switch from neon lit wet streets to street lamp wet streets felt like the edge I wanted from Heat as well
Unbound is a amazing game, so is heat, but the main problem for me is the way it runs, especially on my rig with an RTX3070ti, i7-13700k, DDR4 32 GB RAM
The NFS heat really likeable because of the speed feeling you get when drifting or blazing through the highway on a race caused by the engine difference in both games. The other thing is the car level systems because that makes the regira OP which is good but until you realize that you can’t use it anywhere else and the races are made for a specific level so its bad to run with other cars even if it is over of under leveled unlike in heat.
Replayability, payouts, no buy-ins to a race except Heat races, more races, more types of races, and cops aren't annoying and always popping up and neon coloring atmosphere. Unbound is supposed to look better. It's New/Next Gen so I don't include that
i got unbound yesterday have 8 hours played and it has been the most stressful experience for me i can't select races i want due to car limitations i cant decide if i want to race only at night or only at day im forced to alternate the drifting feels bad (this is a big point because i mostly play drift challenges in nfs games) the graphics are pretty cool honestly took me a minute to appreciate them also the grind for money is boring (maybe because nfs heat had higher prizes/prices it seemed better but winning a race and getting 6k feels bad especially since that barely buys 2 parts and then i have to buy into races too :( ... i really really want to enjoy unbound but there's so many little things that make the game frustrating and feel like a chore other than an enjoyable racing experience or rather a fun police chase simulator XD
To be honest, I really prefer unbound compared to heat not only it’s way more optimize than heat when you played on the PC but there’s just features in there that it just makes it better than heat so I do think unbound is better than heat
bro heat in just 2 updates keeps more players than unbound in 10 and with many more options what kind of options are you talking about? if it's the ones in the video, he played a lot for his opinion, but the opinion of criticism is logical and simple that unbound is the worst game in the franchise by far isolated
I like heat more because of the handling. Unbound kind of forces you to buy a car you have no intentions of buying due to the drive train being a new feature. They also strip the top speed from mostly all the cars. I also like the cops in heat because they literally come after you and don’t half step it in unbound. Map wise, I like unbound because of the highway. If this was in heat, it would be great.
NFS Unbound felt it was much more grind-fest than NFS Heat. At least in Heat, you can cheese some levels easily to get quick money but in Unbound, there is no guaranteed way to cheese through it. Only way to do it is to keep repeating "Friday" before the Qualifier until you're satisfied with your stuff.
I think we need to review this when unbound has reached the end of its cycle then compare as its somewhat unfair to compare a game thats has seen myltiple updates compared to one that has only recently been out, maybe a comparison on how both games started during their first couple months would be a good assessment. However the time and effort you have put into this video is greatly appreciated.
@@amogus1633 ah I was under the impression it had more than one, thanks for the correction, as far as additional content for the game which ones got more to it currently then or they about even
For my personal views: Heat: + I like the visual more since I like a realistic effect on cars, especially at night/dirt. + Cops is harder and I like the pressure to get more reward at night while gambling the higher cops risk in the night. I get busted a lot lmao. + The loading screen is pretty rad when transitioning from garage to world map/vice versa. Making me have much more glossy paints/chrome on my cars compared to games before. + Thank god they get rid of the gacha parts in payback. The things I hated the most and introduced engine swaps that really extend the car life stage we played. And ofc those favorite cars that helped me in early game stages always with me. + They have people around the world lmao while its small/rare and there's no collisions. We can't mow em down lol. - The singleplayer campaign is so cheesy, feeling like cheap netflix series about kids trying to be adults. So cringe, also so short (thankfully maybe). - The tracks compared to payback is mostly tarmac and in city. While payback we can go off-road or more unique terrains. - compared to Payback, the city tracks variety is smaller. Almost no dirt tracks. - People seems to hate the soundtracks, well compared to payback. Yes its worse. But not as bad as Undercover or Most Wanted "remakes" for me. Unbound: + While I said I liked realistic effects more, I respect NFS embracing their arcadey vibes. Well aside shift, they never really into realistic driving simulators anyway. While I dont like the tire smoke effects that blocking my cars views sometimes, some effects much more better than in Heat. + Cars selection is bigger and have vintage cars that I honestly liked more than newer cars nowadays. Sad Toyota still absent with their weird "We dont want our brand asociated with street racing" while initial D, fast & furious, etc. is a street racing themed movies/anime where Trueno AE86 & Supra get their legendary JDM status in mainstream. I dont understand japanese people mindset sometimes. + The mechanics of new NOS is really good, instead waiting for right time to used, we can do great driving and daring maneuver to charge the NOS. Remind me of older NFS and Burn out series. + The customizations while its not changing much since Payback, the parts difference is felt more here than Heat while again, higher tier parts always better. Wish they more exploring the plus/drawbacks more to make each cars while same have different feel and builds. Also can make a unique events/league that using same cars but have different builts. Shame they dont explore this aspect more. + The singleplayer story is way better. All characters is memorable and have distinguished looks compared to how generic Payback-Heat characters looks/dressing almost all of them looking like computer nerds than street kids/mechanics back in Heat lol. - Cops is afterthought, like the video stated. Its easy to evade especially later games. Not challenging anymore. So If you isnt crashing or botching things you wont get arrested really. - They get rid of the garage looks on customizations of cars and that loading neons I liked so much in favor of classic tips+artwork loading screen. Why? Its a good aspect from Heat, why they get rid of it? Its also feel more seamless to the game really. - The city world design is boring, a bit weird decisions they goes with many cartoony effects, and vectorized look on the characters. But city look dull and realistic especially at night, no flashy colors, neons or anything. Heat/Payback city is more colorful lol. Resulting to more uninspired feeling on each race tracks. - The drifting is harder I agree, weird since its help filling the 2nd NOS bar easiest. Why make it harder lol. Also drifting events is smaller compared to Heat or even Payback. Why NFS never really played more with drift events/race tho? - There's visibly more people in city, but still we can't hit them and more obvious in this game and its giving me unfinished unity games feeling lol. Dont make them in the middle of road really or escape way further before the car reach. So it wont be noticeable some of them despawn on hit. I hoped next NFS games can bring whats good on Payback-Unbound really. At least NFS compared to series after Pro Street-Rivals finalkly get back as one choice of racing games that more friendly to people that not seeking real driving simulators or official races. But more to creativity and fun aspect of racing. Wish they return split screen/locla multiplayer and gallery of custom cars that not in story mode to use so we can experience every cars and race with friends locally. I missed that aspect.
I gave up on heat and went back to payback due to rank racing multiplayer. Also the drift in heat was really pointless to me. If you could drift with others it be better. Unbound has a different driving style which is good to learn. In terms of graphics it could of been much better for unbound. I agree heat story was best. I’m sticking with unbound at the moment. I hope some goodies come in volume 3 😊
Great job at quantifying how good the games are. That was very well thought out. I haven’t played NFS Unbound, but what I can gather from what I hear is that the game isn’t as “fun” as NFS Heat. May be a better game, but not more fun. The cons in Heat feel like nuisances that we put up with, while on Unbound makes it feel like labor. Nobody likes labor.
Heat is just more worked and finished in every aspect, ambient, reflection, lights, depth, sense of speed, car handling and sounds, tuning, they just made unbound copying previous work and added Cartoon and in-game effects
Loaded up the video to see a spreadsheet of features with an opinion column. Damn bruh you made me so happy with the intro itself. This should be the standard for game comparisons
NFS Heat was faster paced in terms of story though I actually prefer the characters of Unbound. I prefer the races of Heat, but I prefer the cops and mechanics of Unbound more. It really is a toss up, Unbound is much better than I expected for the ratings its getting. However maybe I'm biased because I only had to pay $50 rather than the full $70.
Running the Unite mod 3.5 for NFS heat is almost like a genuine full remaster. Handling is improved, graphics, AI reworks, more challanging races (cops are way harder to outrun too and are 4x more aggressive) Reworked rewards for races. Reworked car sounds. A few new cars added. And it all still works online. The Unite mod basically brought to Heat ideas and reworks that should have been there in the first place from the dev's - while still keeping the majority of the stock heat format without too many different changes. Props to the modders - I'm enjoying Heat way more than I did before.
I like unbound more, as i find the driving better in it. Along with the car stage system(b-s+). However i wish the story and multiplayer were linked, however i feel as though because it’s separate people join more races, so it balances out for me. I also wish the drifting was better. I wish the game had a more arcade drifting like carx. I also wish i had more events like nfs payback.
You forgot to say that both of these games have no chance against NFS2 underground, and are just unsuccessful efforts. The only thing fans of this series need is an NFS2 U remake!
I think this point system was a really interesting idea for deciding which game is better, but for me I just like unbound better for two simple reasons: the unique art style and the innovative burst nos system
I like unbound but I don’t like having to grind online to get cars when it’s available in story mode. Also the racers in unbound gives me a race for my money which I enjoy
i *still* cannot bring myself to buy Unbound even while it is on sale or try a copy from a mate some of the more important parts of both games make Unbound unenjoyable to watch
Mechanics of unbound are better, but the game layout of heat is better imo. If you took out of unbound the physics, car tiers, burst nos, and the new cars, I would have no reason to play unbound again. Unbound campaign almost felt like a rogue adventure - that is actually an interesting concept but one that is hard to get right. If the cars I unlocked through the campaign changed randomly during the play through that would add a lot of playability imo.it’s silly that realistically you can’t actually build the vast majority of the cars for the single player because once you pass the qualifier for a tier, you don’t really need or have the money to build a car from the previous tiers again. Once you finish the campaign, the races need to open up like heat. And I don’t like heat from the day carrying over to the night either.
Heat reinvigorated my love for cars and racing games. It has so much going for it, and its a big "What if" game, if Ghost wasn't axed...how much better the game would've been. All that said, Unbound I consider the better game. Gameplay, Artistic choice, racing, online, and post support from devs....I can say its only going to get better, hopefully
I am coming from nfs hot pursit remastered (15 hrs). I really like nfs heat (6 hrs). Day night cycle is cherry on the top. Fact that HEAT has less cars than unbound means i can spend less time comparing value for each car and more time racing. More cars means less distinction between the cars which is confusing for me. I would give this point to heat (it's ok if you disagree with me) .
For me, the cartoon like animations and the cop mechanics make Unbound a no go from the start. I mean, the greatest feature of need for speed overall (at least for me) are police chases. If we put that a side, I would go and play FH5: better driving mechanics, better cars, better speed and cornering sensation, etc. But it lacks deepness and history. So, that's were Need for speed cames, I think
Honestly I feel like I’d like unbound more if it didn’t have the cartoon graphics stuff going on or how ever you’d say it I still play heat almost everyday and can’t get bored with it
Im a very driver focused player. The grip mechanic in unbound sucks in my opinion. When you oversteer just the slightest you come to a complete stop. Also, the sound design and sense of speed are miles better in Heat. Only for those points Heat wins it for me, because those are the heaviest points I personally care about the most and make or absolutely break a racegame for me. Heat just sounds so damn good!
I reaally want to like unbound. I don't really mind the change in visuals after playing a tiny bit of hours in. I finished the "prologue". I just wish my first few hours of experience after prologue wasn't me being forced to use Fairlady for my first three races lmao. I haven't touched it since and just went back to NFS Heat. This is probably a very dumb and blind newbie mistake but I'll try Unbound again once I finish getting ultimate+ parts
OK this is probably going to be long, but me personally, I think need for speed. Heat is better because it may not have the driving physics in unbound making some cars not being able to turn it all but I like the feel in the style of how it is whenever you do a race in need for speed heat, and the upgrade system was also 10 times better in my opinion, because instead of having to upgrade a garage to get access to better parts, you had to go out at night and grind rep lvls, and for me personally I find people playing need for speed heat more than I do for unbound now I don’t know if that has anything to do with PlayStation lobbies, but it seems like every time I try to cue into a online race on unbound no one wants to play but if I start up a race on heat then I find people to play in less than 10 seconds it seems like. Somethings I do have to give to unbound though, because the driving physics I like a lot better although the drifting needs to be heavily improved. It’s a good base for now and they can probably touch back on that later but I really do not like the car customization for unbound and this may be something small but it’s something big to me because in the last three need for speed games while you were customizing your car you were able to see , your garage in the background into most people they may not care about that but for me, it gives so much more atmosphere to the game, then just a grave buy screen in the background, and I really don’t like how they did unbounds story mode because it was so heavily artificially lengthened that it made me quit playing for 2 1/2 months until I picked the game back up and once I did pick the game back up I had fun at first but it just seemed like I was just running into the same problems all over again. But with that being said, I did eventually start grinding online again trying to get better cars and get better parts because there’s literally nothing to do in story mode afterwards and I wouldn’t be able to play with my friends like that in story mode only.
I like both. They both are cool
Both garbage games. Worst in the franchise.
@@LaZarusXtnct nope. heat is fun. you must suck at racing games so go back to star wars battlefront 2 and be toxic their and let car people enjoy their car games.
@@LaZarusXtnct Yep
Rose tinted glasses i see, not surprised

Playing through Heat was actually fun, playing through Unbound feels more like a chore than a videogame
yea exactly how I feel, when I first saw you had to do different challenges just to unlock certain cars, it just seems like extra work instead of a game, the unlock with rep was better
Even asphalt is like a chore
@@nicechasinchasegods7051 Not really, if you knew how to exploit the cops you basically could unlock all of the cars very fast. At least Unbound has more of an actual progression feel.
I'm glad I never bought Unbound. Seems it kinda it was D.O.A.
I played unbound myself to see the difference, and comparing the two, I can say, with confidence, that I like Heat more.
same heat is honestly one of the best NFS games in a while
@@FSUSean2112fr, really the only reason why people hate on these games is because of their soundtracks. They say, “music sucks, therefore the entire game sucks” and don’t even play the game. I myself am not a fan of the soundtracks to these games, but that doesn’t stop me from playing the game itself. Plus, you can just turn off music and play your own playlist.

It’s a very small detail but has the biggest impact for me, the garage. You can place all your favorite cars around the garage in Heat
Unbound only has 10 garage slots like NFS 2015.
I agree. Being able to select which race you want to race is huge.
I want to do a class big O one day
Get half a mill for that pain
Me too😢
Agree 100% that’s why I’m picking heat
ya can race solo or against other players its called single player or multiplayer lol
I actually like NFS Heat better than Unbound. I mean don't get me wrong NFS Unbound is cool but you really have to scratch and claw your way through it were as Heat you can just fly through the game so my favourite is Heat
True
Unbound is like that because fans complained Heat was too short. Now they make you work through the game in Unbound
I think both have their ups and downs and since I don't have unbound, you don't gotta listen to me. But both are good games, no one cam disagree with that or they're lying
Same, I miss the power sliding and general vibe from Heat. Such a fun game.
Unbound alright, but I got bored of it sooner than I did for Heat
i mean that was the complaint with carbon. it was too short and you could fly through the game. not exactly worth the $60 price tag
I agree with you brother.Heat is more colourful than unbound.
It's definitely the setting. Heat has more color to it. That "Miami" feel/look reels you in.
Welcome to Chicago 😂
Every reason he dislike unbound are reasons I like unbound. That’s so funny to me.
honestly, the game's been out for a while, but there are enough people who enjoy the story so imo you shouldn't be spoiling it like that (about the m3)
Things i like in Heat over Unbound (keep in mind im not a NFS longtime fan or anything)
• The Seamless Day Night Transition
• The Drifting
• The Setting
• The online coop races
Things I like in Unbound over Heat
• Customization (Car and Driver)
• Visuals
• The Nos System
Agreed. Agreed.
Yeah you didn't say the handling system, because there is no handling system. Modern NFSs suck so bad😂 Excluding 2012 MW, and 2010 Hot Pursuit, and 2011 The run.
Heat if u don’t like the grind
Fair
Thanks
I like NFS Heat's colour pallette, neon blue n pink is really pretty n has that night street race look.
NFS Unbound is a game that kinda fixes most of the issues in NFS Heat, n is presented in a more, creative n unique way. Kinda like that as well.
which issues has Unboud fixed ?
Well, i guess the lack of npcs? Well, thats it i guess 😅 idonno, i dont even play Unbound. I just like Unbound's style direction. Looks artistic.@@WillVRam
I love how this gave the introspective of Head vs Heart, "The facts say this, but I want that". The video and all your points in it are great with well-thought explanations, but you had a horse in this race (pun intended. lol) and I respect you for sticking with your own research instead of trying to change it up to fit the narrative your heart wanted.
That’s a very accurate analysis of this video and my thought process! Thank you. I appreciate you watching the whole thing!!!!
That's great and all but don't forget that playing a game bc it's better statistically and playing a game bc it's near and dear to you are two different things
Current Steam review scores:
NFS Heat = 84% of 88,441 are positive (Very Positive)
NFS Unbound = 62% of 24,510 are positive (Mixed)
I really loved nfs heat and i feel like nothing could replace that
7:00 It's the setting. That "Florida/Miami" setting with all the colors makes it more likeable that the gritty brown/grey city setting.
I also like all those things!
Ghost was the company EA let go from finishing Heat updates.
@@shopwood8010 but when they pulled Criterion back into nfs development, you can clearly see, that Unbound is pretty much NFS Heat reskin.

@@richardprice4945 yeah drift meta is really hard to pull off in unbound.
@@XxGamer42069xX that is so true 👌

Heat: I love the ocean, beaches and swampy areas, railroad tracks
Unbound: I don't care for the Chicago map, it's just stale and boring to me.
Heat: I adore the choice of day or night, I love the night in heat the most, it's at it's peak in graphics at night. Plus for me at night, I like interrupting players races, I troll them a bit (in my police rsr) lol, noob players are the most fun, I pin them in a spot, boom the cops arrest them, byebye all that rep lmfao
Unbound: no comment, I hate the forced day to night cycle
Lastly for heat: I love that you can build one car for the whole game, in online or solo. That car (me 2015 ford mustang gt) can be used in any race at anytime. You build it to 400+ boom💥 start on your next car. So simple
Unbound: ugh wtf was ea thinking? What 5 car classes, you are forced to have multiple builds, forced separation from online & solo???? I hate discovering that all my progress in solo did nothing for my online, I was so furious 🤬 (get it Furya is Furious)
Every game I play that has online, I like to play it solo for a few months to practice my skill and build my character up, unbound I was shocked when I found out the two were separate. That's why I left the game, I do not like the forced separation of online to solo modes, kinda like grand theft auto 5 I hate the separation of online to solo, same shit, different game
I trash on unbound all the time, can't help it, imo it's a trashy game with a NFS logo, heat to me is a freaking bloody masterpiece and that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so 🍻 🖕🏻🖕🏻

@@idk28u lmao, are you offended because he didn't like Unbound??
Besides of these categories, i like heat more than unbound on it's gameplay styles. Heat had the way more adrenaline gameplay style than the unbound had, sense of speed and zooming camera effect was very catchy on it.
NFS: Heat (2019)!!! Game is nearly 4 years old and still goes hard
Maybe you were still getting your popcorn and drink, the campaign was the very first category I talked about :)
Well, that's me missing the first half of the sentence... 😅 Had to rewatch just for the sake of it 😄
The story in heat though better is a moot point and though I agree a continuation would have been nice it's irrelevant because it was never gonna, from the happen the second that EA in their dumbass wisdom decided to gut ghost and shut them down. Part of me thinks that decision was influenced in part by the development of battlefield 2042. Or lack there of 😂
True brother.I eagerly waited for the unbound but when I saw the story in youtube I just lost my interest to bye nfs unbound.
Going to play both. Want to play the one that has bad story first and will play the better story next. If I say that my most favourite NFS is The Run, you know I like high stakes serious story games where I feel emotionally oriented towards a goal rather than just goal oriented. (Jack had mobs at his back....loved that....Ryan Cooper wants to be best, I don't care!)
Hope you get my point.
Now after this, tell me which one is better so I play it later.
I cannot agree more. Unbound is my first nfs I bought since Shift 2.
To add on that heats night and day mechanic is better than unbounds non existing one, but regardless I have heat and im going to buy unbound because it has more cars and improved sound, although I will still play both
Autumn sale going on so I bought both unbound and heat
Good questions! I mostly agree with everything you said here.
@@MilitiaGamingCommunity Amanda also they always forget to add the Acura Integra Type R 🙄
No not just you lol. I absolutely agree with u about heat staying ahead
Ultimately what should matter is where you want to drive
2015: Los Angeles
Payback: Las Vegas + canyons
Heat: Miami
Unbound: Chicago
My favorite video yet. The sheer amount of data you collected on your spreadsheet is astounding. I pretty much agree with everything. I love both games, but I feel Unbound slightly gets the nod for best NFS game.
Im thinking the same boss. It is slightly harder to master the drift mechanics (Which is why i believe the rating in the store is so low) but when your able to master nitrous after drifting to get back in a grip like straight line you will start to win a LOT more
Thank you so much!
I enjoy both of them overall. Just sorta wish Heat had more car selections like Unbound did.
Heat for me;
more races, better map, better cops, better story/campaign, day-night cycle, more performance parts, better car sounds (besides a few exceptions), drift events are actual drift events and all in all more variety in event types
Heat for me is better too
Interesting video,
In relation to your scoring system
One aspect that caught my attention was the significance of car accessibility (Get Additional Cars)and upgrades.
Both in multiplayer and solo modes, upgrading the cars proved to be quite expensive and takes a serious grind, definitely affected by what you mentioned about how the speed traps or jumps aren't repayable
unlocking cars in the multiplayer mode presented a challenge, exorbitant amount of time and effort.
3:27 The cops are SO UTTERLY EASY on the hardest setting which is annoying because it put it at that setting of the cops to be hyper difficult, instead the racers rubberbands 100% more than what I guess it usually is
If Unbound had cops like in Heat, it would be the best Need for Speed game since The Run
It really shows how little of an upgrade Unbound was if it's still being considered in comparison to the last game.
Ghost's need for speed was amazing, Criterion only makes Burnouts
I much prefer Heat due to the way Unbound included the weekly style structure, the buy-in to races and the heat increases after races. I just want to customize and race my cars man..
Sense of speed looks great in both but I feel like the effects in unbound bring it alive more
The VFX are so satisfying. I love them
men this is a crazy work to be as most objective as posible, thats great :0
I remember once my friend and I were playing an online lobby of nfs heat, and no matter your heat level or how much you crash into cops, they would not chase.
For me both are masterpieces and special
But heat to me gets better spot in my heart because it made NFS comeback from payback that was shit to an instant masterpiece in 2 years time
I loved Heat but the length of Unboud, while not enjoyed by most, is refreshing to me. I played after the updates for cash so my experience may be diffrent than most, but the feeling of steady progression and unfolding story was basically all that was missing from Heat for me, as well as the switch from neon lit wet streets to street lamp wet streets felt like the edge I wanted from Heat as well
THE WINNER IS, NEED 4 SPEED UNDERGROUND
Unpopular opinion: The NFS Payback Map beats both the newer games.
I honestly do not understand how people can say that Heat is better overall.
To me it’s so close. I understand why people say it is better but my brain disagrees with them
Replayability, payouts, no buy-ins to a race except Heat races, more races, more types of races, and cops aren't annoying and always popping up and neon coloring atmosphere.
To be honest, I really prefer unbound compared to heat not only it’s way more optimize than heat when you played on the PC but there’s just features in there that it just makes it better than heat so I do think unbound is better than heat
bro heat in just 2 updates keeps more players than unbound in 10 and with many more options what kind of options are you talking about? if it's the ones in the video, he played a lot for his opinion, but the opinion of criticism is logical and simple that unbound is the worst game in the franchise by far isolated
if need for speed heat had the amount of cars as unbound and the handling physics of payback, it would be PERFECTION
Heat is better esp considering that Unbound is the Heat DLC we never got 🤣
I honestly wish that were true because I truly love Heat. But Unbound is just so different.
I always think that it’s a DLC too when I look at the cars and their customisation options. Not so much difference there.
I really enjoyed both of them but heat is the definite winner in my book. I put at least double the hours into it
Unbound for me when I first played it, it gave me Underground 2 vibe
You should live broadcast more, let them join the game, enjoy the fun of the game, so that you are worthy of your members
I appreciate the suggestion. I do weekly live events now. And people are welcome to join in every time. :)
Heat only got one update wdym unbound has already had more post launch support then heat
@@amogus1633 ah I was under the impression it had more than one, thanks for the correction, as far as additional content for the game which ones got more to it currently then or they about even
For my personal views:
Heat:
+ I like the visual more since I like a realistic effect on cars, especially at night/dirt.
Unbound:
+ While I said I liked realistic effects more, I respect NFS embracing their arcadey vibes.
Nice written SA
I gave up on heat and went back to payback due to rank racing multiplayer. Also the drift in heat was really pointless to me. If you could drift with others it be better. Unbound has a different driving style which is good to learn. In terms of graphics it could of been much better for unbound. I agree heat story was best. I’m sticking with unbound at the moment. I hope some goodies come in volume 3 😊
In my opinion NFS Heat is superior. I really miss the live actors in the cut scenes like in the old ones.
Nfs 2015 was the last good one🥲def needed a couple changes and add ons but best one by far 😭
I really like unbound but 2015s manual gearbox was the best implementation of it and so intuitive compared to shifting with bumpers in unbound
I have still more fun from enjoying Heat than Unbound, is much more playable in nice " family climate " :) Regards
Running the Unite mod 3.5 for NFS heat is almost like a genuine full remaster.
Handling is improved, graphics, AI reworks, more challanging races (cops are way harder to outrun too and are 4x more aggressive)
Reworked rewards for races.
I agree 100%
You forgot to say that both of these games have no chance against NFS2 underground, and are just unsuccessful efforts. The only thing fans of this series need is an NFS2 U remake!
I think this point system was a really interesting idea for deciding which game is better, but for me I just like unbound better for two simple reasons: the unique art style and the innovative burst nos system
i dislike it for a huge reason drifting
you meant to say the cheap and uninspired art style, right? unless you're a 5 year old and still make crayon drawings then no problem!
@@vladpalets what do you mean?Is that sarcastic?
@@supreme_brick this is directed at OP, not you. Otherwise you wouldve been tagged like so.
@@vladpalets op?
I like unbound but I don’t like having to grind online to get cars when it’s available in story mode. Also the racers in unbound gives me a race for my money which I enjoy
i *still* cannot bring myself to buy Unbound even while it is on sale or try a copy from a mate
some of the more important parts of both games make Unbound unenjoyable to watch
I love need for speed Heat it’s so awesome you have the freedom to Race
Honestly if NFS Heat was shown the love and care that unbound is getting everyone would be satisfied with Heat
Unbound can easily be much better then heat but the lack of content, the repetition, the slow progression just let it down massively
THEY NEED TO MAKE BURST NOS BE ABLE TO TRAFFIC CHECK LIKE IN BURNOUT REVENGE. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE TRAFFIC IS SO BAD
Police in races is Need For Speed Brother. Thats their signature they started that whole thing back in the late 90s on p.c.
Reply value and music is always a factor
