@@alexanderstefanov6474 so? The engine bigger engine doesn't weigh that much more. I believe they could shed quite some weight from the final car. They could also offer carbon fiber hoods, doors etc for extra money.
The analogue dials is a good point and something I've thought about, I've I'm ordering a bespoke vehicle, I would want beautifully designed analogue dials.
for similar money you can get a naturally aspirated 6.4-litre 600hp V8 Ginetta Akula. that weighs 1190kg because it has a carbon monocoque. this is just a morbidly obese cobra.
Let me guess people will still be more interested by the "original replica" if I can call it that way, then this "modern" incarnation. I definitely will!
The width of the car might be 2m width that give you lots of room to the centre but I also noticed when siting in the car the door intrudes in to the driving arm position. There was talk of sculpturing this out to make it wide but still has the same issue. Lets wait until they have a fully finished car in 2025 for delivery. It looked far better in the blue at Lemans in 2023.
I like it overall but those headlights look totally misplaced. They look like stolen from the Honda e and they are just slightly too small for the Cobra.
They look ok but too big, the 19 inch ones would be perfect. The steering wheel is far too thick though and it is strange the steering is light when no servo assisted brakes. If they can give the brakes a small amount of assistance and make the steering slightly heavier then the driving controls sound spot on as the gear shift seems excellent from Matt;s description. Shame it is not 15cm / 6 inches narrower though. Looks are fantastic though, made an old car look modern.
I can't drag my eyes away from that panel misalignment on the rear wing 😣 Otherwise I think the modern-retro-styling works well and I can see the appeal for folks with more cash than they know what to do with.
1450kg???? Where did they put the piano and why? Where is the point of building a heavy new version of a car its whole purpose was to be very light in the first place? 900kg would be nice. And where is the sound a Cobra is known for? This is a car that's called Cobra but which is just an "ordinary" chassis with an Cobra look-a-like bodykit on top and a strong engine. When i saw the preview picture i was happy to enjoy a return of the classic car but now i feel fooled.
I agree, though I assume the original is going to still be made alongside this so really it’s just expanding its market base for those who may not want to be shoehorned into a vehicle (not that it was too bad, but also safety increases might persuade people too).
@@ludda42 I mean it’s closer to the size of a new Mustang than it is to the original AC Cobra. I kinda expected with the liberal use of CF that it would be maybe under 3000lbs or 1350kg but being the first iteration it’s likely overbuilt and a bit heavier everywhere just to validate the concept is sound.
After seeing many Cobra's in * Supercar London * videos , for the chap with the $$ who want's a brand new modern version , this is a very good effort by AC...It's ok ! I'd have it over any Ferrari / Lambo / Porsche convertible , simply , its good looking , fast as f and unique in a world of mainstream Sports / GT.
Left hand drive only? From a company who's based in the UK or can you order a right hand drive? Either way I'll stick with my old Type R, N/A, bags of fun, revs like a motorbike and probably cost less than one of the cobra wheels.
I'll be just happy with a Viper. This seems like a money play. The steering wheel alone and the weight tells me a true car guy might not be running things.
It may well develop into a nice car, however, why would you spend over 1/4million for everyone to ask ‘which kit is it’ ? As others have said, there are several excellent replicas available for a fraction of that cost.
And how on earth does it weight 1400kg (albeit dry claimed so could be heavier than labeled) and call it light? It is heavier than a toyota corolla though, wich has 2 more doors, rear seats and a roof
If you want subtle, you wouldn't be interested in a Cobra anyway. The 800bhp Coupe looks even less subtle. Must have a rummage down the back of the sofa to see if I've mislaid £300k...
Minute 5 that car is nothing like the one that will be released to the public... Come on! It's missing very important components! But it makes the right noise 😂😂😂BRAVO
I hate to say this and I'm not trying to knock the AC but something about this car looks Mazda miata-ish Something about the rear end and the way those pipes stick out makes me think Mazda Miata. It looks very civilized... Unlike the original AC Cobra was more like a street fighter.
Hate the wheels. Better off buying a Superformance Cobra. They're officially sanctioned by Shelby. Looks the same as the 60s version, not obese like this one. And sounds better.
Stop calling a 1400kg lightweight! Original cobra was 1050kg. Superformance MKIII Roadster weights 1100-1200kg. Ask Mazda how they managed to make MX-5 weight 1050kg at 1/10 of the price. And people manage to engine swap it for Coyote V8's!
This really feels like one of those failed retro cars from the mid-2000s. Id much rather just have a proper recreation of the 60s car for far less money than.... whatever this is.
It’s really difficult to engineer a dedicated handbrake in today’s world, as you will need an independent calliper, cable lever and then homologate the whole thing (bonkers money!), whereas e-handbrakes just run off the ABS valve block and are already homologated!
if you deliver a pre-production unit to the press please make sure you don't use Carbone foil on the dashboard or Carbon-fiber so poorly fitted it look like foil !!! and yes Finish the rest on the basic mechanics before press resales, it shows you don't care
Not paying that kind of money for a car way out of proportions and powered by a Mustang motor. I will pass. Superformace Corba with proper 427 for half the money all day long.

A quarter of a million bucks? Seriously!
The price doesn't make sense. Either I buy any supercar I want, or I build my own kit car for the same or less. This car will never sell.
I wish they’d finish building the thing before setting up a review.
They probably need to start taking deposits for orders?!?
You just saved 10 minutes of my precious cigar time.
I think it's called marketing unfortunately. Cheers
The sound alone 😊😊
Those who can afford it should buy it😊😊
I would pay £1/4 million never to have to see those wheels again.
Lol 😂😂😂😂😂 Stop it!
I agree, first thing I noticed, needs the deep dish wheels, not sure what there called
tunedbyai AI fixes this. All-new AC Cobra launched.
Err £312k for a kit car that weighs 1400kg. Oh pleeeeeeeeze. Back to the drawing board guys. Bring back a restomod AC 3000 ' thanks
Amazing we are now saying 1400kg is a light car!
Lights and wheels look horrific. I'd much rather spend the same or less on a Superformance Cobra continuation .
Exactly.
Can’t wait to see this in full NA form, well done AC.. 👍🥂💯 this is all about character but with modern front mid engine and handling.
As a child of the 70's, I'd sooner they resurrect the 3000 ME.

Very nice but I'd prefer larger, more classic sized headlights. At least it's got some personality, though, unlike so many modern cars.

Reminds me a little of the BMW Z8. Not a bad thing really. I think they got the look just right. 👌

I am sure they would sell you a S/C one with the smaller wheels, if you wanted.
A Superformance Cobra with max. 17“ wheels is unbeatable in that regard.

The original AC Cobras don't have side pipes
Because once they buy it the owners can no longer afford trousers, and we all no never wear shorts with sidepipes..
