What a beautiful interview and as a 65 yr old Mackem this is honestly the best I have seen from my club in terms of creating a foundation for the future in terms of academy, style of play, ownership, and the team behind the scenes. Don't change the approach in any way or form because of our fickleness please.
Sounds like a great appointment. A true SAFC fan and a lad who has experienced top level innovative client service in the USA. Good luck David you have my backing.
Awesome! This hopefully will be the first step toward organizing a better club. Let's hope he will get the tools and support he needs to get it done on the pitch. Good luck sir.
I’m really happy with David Bruce, he Is Sunderland through and through. However, he can’t be the guy they are putting front and centre at the moment to deflect the concerns over the season that has just taken place on the pitch, and to run interference with the delay in appointing a new head coach. We need to hear ASAP from Speakman in this regard.
Couldn’t care less if he was born on the centre circle at Roker park. Any investment in the stadium is welcome, but superficial. The fans want to see a strong manager appointment, and the acquisition of 3/4 decent pros to get us over the line. This is the last year of your 5 year plan. Best you make it good.
@@ThaneME2 You’re selective with the truth. He has taken us from a mid table League 1 team full of old players with no value - to a young team worth millions - Clarke 20m Ballard 10m Hume 8m Ekwah 5m Roberts 5m Jobe 10m Paterson 10m Neal 5m. Neil and Mowbray were very good appointments - Beale was his blunder. Selling Stewartfor 12m was outstanding business. He brought in outstanding loan players - Amad (unbelievable loan) and even 2 very good strikers in Simms and Broadhead - who delivered goals aplenty last season - not Speakman fault the club couldn’t match their wages! Have you ever ran a business - that’s progress! You’d have to be blind not to see it. You need to think for yourself instead of listening to idiots who know zero about football and/or business!
@@ThaneME2you’re right Thane. He’s done absolutely nothing good whatsoever & deserves every bit of criticism without actually bothering to look at the person above him or those around him. Aye, worst thing since sliced bread mate.
@@michaelbowers541 yes Speakman had done well in the past but for me it's irrelevant now cos as a whole he's getting more things wrong now and he's gone into hiding like the owners, my issue is more with the owners than anything else and I'd wish they'd just bugger off if there not gonna show some ambition and change their ways but at the end of the day Speakman is the man they've instructed to run the club for them and right now the man is lucky to be in a job right now, whether it's his fault or not, after comments at the start of the season, 3 shocking transfer windows, not getting an experienced proven goal scorer, appointing Michael Beale saying he was his first choice all along and the Black Cats Bar, now yes everyone at the club has to take responsibility for that and they should hang there heads in shame, especially the owners but Speakman should know about all the day to day dealings and running of the club, if he doesn't well that's even worse, Speakman might be ok in term's of looking at youth cos at Birmingham wasn't he the head of youth development or something like that but at Sunderland he's the director of football and for me the job and club is far to big for him and that goes with the owners as well, IMO this lot have taken us far as they can and now it's time for them all to hand the club over to someone that can take us to that next level, I know u don't like it mate when People criticise Speakman and yes he did ok for a bit but it's hard to defend someone and give them praise for the past when they just keep getting it wrong now, if he was getting it right more often then I wouldn't say a word but ultimately all that good work in the past has been tarnished now as far as I'm concerned
Seeing is believing and at the moment it is just spiel from above a load of crap. What club takes three months or longer to appoint a manager, why do we the fans put up with this garbage, it's our hard earned money that they steal from us every week!
He has been here 9 months and is banging on about ‘listening to’ and ‘connecting to’ the fans. Yet he is still trying to charge people for a physical season ticket. What a joke.

Great interview. A really good hire for us! Already got us moving in a very good direction retail wise
At long last, someone who actually knows and cares about the fans. Thank God.

david bruce is not in charge of football matters. that would be speakman
He's got nothing to do with playing staff . Do your research before being critical 😮
Dude read before going into keyboard warrior mode.
That comment he was talking directly about the board. Not just his role. So yes the board can affect what goes on the pitch.
