Great 😊 interview. We are bloody lucky to have speakman. He has, and will make mistakes - he is human - but all round what a job. Keep up the good work.
He's done a great job for us. I can't really understand the amount of stick he has received. From where we were, to where we are - it's been fantastic.
I think the stick comes from dropping the ball in key moments like not strengthening in Jan when we went up or going out for a Stewart replacement, but for the negatives his positives have massively outweighed them.
as a life long safc fan i can't remember ever having a squad that has so much potential & almost the full first wanted by other teams i hope we can keep hold of Speakman for a long time(& the players)
What a scoop! Well done Ryan. Great interview! Wonderful time to be a Sunderland fan with the model coming to fruition. So proud of the lads, so much talent. The whole set-up is top-notch ❤🤍
Excellent interview, Christian Speakman has his critics though I am not one of them, Sunderland have gone down many roads in the past years with little success, What Speakman and Dreyfus are putting together eclipses all before.
Leicester fan ,i hope that we stay up and that Sunderland get promoted ,nothing between us last season and their fans are really dead fair ,A big club who would add to the premier league .
Nice Speakman speaks... he had some stick last season but this season hes done a top job keep it going Kristjaan top recruiting 👍we are top and hopefully it will continue..
He took a bit of flak regarding this new model, but there's clearly a vision there that is only now becoming clear. We're doing things differently to how we have done before, and it's clearly a longer term vision than anything we've ever had before. The latter half of last season rang alarm bells for a lot of Sunderland fans, which is understandable as we've see the club collapse a few times before with tragic consequences. But instead of panic buying, panic sacking and panic hiring of managers, they've taken their time, stuck to the model and now it's making sense.
Beale was a panic and a disaster, leaving it to Dodds for a large amount of the season was negligent. Looks hopefully that they have learned though and pulled a coup with Le Bris.
What I like about him is that he isn't hung up on just the superstars-he said he was still in contact with people who didn't make it. You need that ethos if you are going to develop players. Develop them and allow them to thrive-challenge and support. I'm pleased he didn't hype up our young guns.
Sunderland were in prem before but never really done much, chucking cash at buying players just to stop in the leauge. This time round, they are doing it the long way, slowly getting better untill the time is right to get in the prem and stay there with players they have brought up
Excellent interview but come January can we please not sell the likes of Rigg or Bellingham just because they offer big money. Let`s see where we finish because if we get promoted, their value will increase. Apparently Mau Utd want Rigg, but if he went there he will just end up out on loan down the leagues. Where is Joe Hugill now ?
Soon as the results dip and the squad depth is exposed , KS & KLD will be under the microscope again . KS speaks well and the young players who were on their knees from Xmas onwards are flourishing. Is it that they were flogged to get experience or down to new coach . It was obvious Regis L was nowhere near first choice and just admit sacking TM & bringing Beale in was a horrendous decision.
There's a line from season 1 of The West Wing where they are appointing a chief justice. "You are not the first choice, but you are the last one and the best one" I think given the start we have had and the way RLB seems to be doing things the quote is very apt
the issue i have with this guy is when it isn't going well he hides, he literally disappears. he needs to own the bad times as well as peacocking in the good. but hey, everyone's a critic.
Ambition and expectation? The bloke is a clown and sunderland will not go up this season because they've tried to do it the cheap. Sign a decent centre forward. We will be found our. And crowds of 40000 plus deserve better. KLD is also an embarrassment. Look what his dad at marsaille. Won nothing and they are the only french team to win the European Cup.
What a win for Leeds😂 we played poor and got a point 🤷🏻♂️ Leeds weren’t anything special obviously Gnonto is a good player and if they trust Piroe he’ll bang goals but everyone else was bang average
That Leeds starting XI cost 90 million, Sunderlands cost 5.9 million and there was barely a difference in the game, says it all. Leeds first goal was offside and fortunate, our 2nd was fortunate, that's football.
True. Had spells but got largely outplayed by a Leeds side missing their two key CM's and somehow got a point from a nailed on loss from a once in a thousand howler. If Sunderland keep playing like that they won't stay top for long. If/when Leeds get some key player back they're a better team than Sunderland, and Sheff Utd are the true top of the league team atm.

Exactly, he and the recruiting team have done a superb job in re building the team 😄👍 well done Kristian and thank you
He is a darts player. Throws a bunch of stuff at the wall and hope it sticks. Not a bad strategy though
@@stuartarthur9844seriously? He’s got more right than wrong in 3/4 years. Deserves more credit than it just all being guess work

Well done Speakman for having the spunk to come on and talk about last season, FTM

Great interview looking forward to January now onwards and upwards for us.

Brilliant this. I think this is the most candid I've seen Speakman, so well done for asking the right questions.

dullest of football fans could have told you Beale would never work. That decision was horrendous!!

The strict wage structure will inevitably hold us back in the end
Agree but every sold player allows us to increase the threshold/ offer new contracts to key players.
Good interview apart from the elon musk quip

Why have a crack at Elon Musk!? He’s an outstanding entrepreneur!
arrogant man but I like em , no room in business to play the nice guy
I wish speakman could employ a new medical and phsio team. Bloody cursed
Please admit where you went wrong with Mike Beale ,
Still whining! The guy is doing a great job!
No be real Tony Mowbray would never let 0-3 happen
Just telling the truth , yes is now doing good job ,
The speakman show dodds out
Dodged the was Regis first choice question like a politician 😂 ffs just tell the truth. The answer your looking for is no.
We all know he wasn't and that will still was who they wanted. Not that it really matters
Does it matter? Christ
Thought you’d unsubscribed?
Why do you care so much? You probably weren't first choice for your mum, we don't harass her about it.

You love Sunderland more than Newcastle don’t ya 😭
Will happen, unlike your state owned islamic operation.

Sunderland didn't have any answers against Leeds, sorry but Sunderland won't be going anywhere

Dorty cheats as always offside first goal and should of been hand ball for second.
