Jose had lost the dressing room months before he was sacked. People forget the godawful football we were playing. Our club is clearly just a business, it was clear from the period under Pochettino when we didn't sign a player for 18 months(and getting to a UCL final) ,it's clear from Jose situation, and it is clear from the overall aspect of the sayings of the club. Everything is about money. The people at the top of out club only care about false promises as long as their pockets are filled.
Back in the 60s and 70s everyone talked about football clubs being businesses; it's not a new thing. Very few owners make money from it, except well paid players.
@@VERYOLDTROGI know it's not a new thing but it is still very frustrating. Winning is the only thing the fans care about but the club seems to think winning is the bottom of their agenda.
One day (I'm not sure when) we'll look back and laugh about how stressed we were about trying to make progress on the pitch, when if just we step back and look at it, we are in an amazing position with our stadium & training ground. Like I say, I'm not sure when that day will be, but it will come, eventually, when what we are achieving on the pitch catches up with our achievements off the pitch. Anyone brave enough to pick a year when it might happen? 😜
Theres multiple answers one is failure to build the squad with players we actually needed and another is also failure in replacing our best players when they left, which in turn then dropped the quality throughout the squad
The best thing about Conte was his hair transplant. That was really impressive. Maybe that's why he thought he was too good for Spurs, with Levy being so old school, flaunting his baldness without any shame👴🏻
"Spursy" should be put in the Oxford Dictionary! definition: "A promising entity that teases, entices... and consistently fails to deliver. Over generations. Hope is never dulled. But satisfaction... always on the horizon"
Might not be in keeping with many spurs fans, but for me Champions League football is the place to be, so top 4 is the most reliable route to that. Talking about winning the Europa is much easier to say than do. A Carabao Cup isn't worth a toss in my opinion. The nights we had in the Champions League under Harry and Poch were amazing & the best times for me as a spurs fan
@@baggy79: we should've done. Liverpool underperformed and yet we still managed to lose. There were things going on behind the scenes and Poch went from walking on water to losing the squad between the SF and final. DL backed him strongly in the summer but the magic had died.
I can tell you why. It's because the club have for decades had 1-2 big names, great players. They rotate in and out top class players, but never have a top team. There's never been a top group of players to create that "great team". There's always been a lack of supporting players for the world class players they have had.
Fed up with spurs blowing hot and cold. We play brilliant one game, and then the next game we don't turn up. Consistency is what is needed. A different mindset needs to be installed in our players.
Spurs have a tag because historically they have won trophies, just not in the modern era. Nobody says a word about Newcastle, Everton or many of the other Prem teams because they are annual also rans.
negotiating for what? keeping spurs out of that superleague BS? what would mourinho have been negotiating for, hmm? c'mon, you must know, what with your obvious psychic abilities 'n all. when teams start suddenly going downhill, the maagers get the blame, but it's always diva players, money grubbing executives and coddling clueless owners that are doing the damage. it is to the point that even mighty man city have had to violate the rules 115 times in order to maintasin championship presence and image. thes last few years were bought and paid for, but were they earned?
It shouldn't be either or, we have to try and win every game. Jordan is right, culturally we aren't right. My prediction is we will finish 7th without a trophy.
As a long time Tottenham Fan i personally think going for the Europa League = Top 4 and a Cup. Furthermore, going for the League Cup makes sense however all this talk of 15th in the EPL is a load of rubbish. Winning two cups and finishing in the top 6 would cement us as a big cup and go wonders for the mentality of the young players we have. Not only that but prove that Ange is the perfect fit for the club going forward.
My thoughts are league form is critical because it makes you consistent week in week out. You can fluke cup trophies, but you cannot fluke a league title. And by winning a league title, if you can build on from there and challenge year in year out, you put yourself in a better position to win more cups automatically. That said, the current top of the league is miles ahead of us. No coach can bridge the gap between Salah/Saka vs Brennan Johnson. Or Rice/Rodri vs Bissouma. At this level, you need the best in the business to take games by the scruff of the neck when you aren't playing well to secure a win. Until we sign players that are truly world class, we cannot get better than 4th as things stand. We have a lot of potential in our young squad, but are they really going to reach their peak with no world class players training with them daily? Son, you could argue is our best player, but with his age he is no longer in the discussion to be the top LW in the world.
Jamie not pointing out that we made five changes too. We didnt play maddison or son(injury) either.......its like he seemed more gutted we won than he would have been if we lost!!
Its like i was sitting there talking. I wear number 10 because of Hoddle.. i am child of his majesty.. calling his name out in the school playground as i go round players and land the sweetest cross or score the most outrageous goal. All the things i associate with being aspurs player and fan. Thanl you Mr Hoddle.. the absolute king of white hart lane
Just to show how much attention Glen Hoddle pays the motto is "To Dare is to Do" not "To Do is to Dare" he was a much smarter player and manager than he is a pundit
Levy's personal wealth has increaeed hugely since he took over they aren't a club, and Hoddle knows it, but will not say it. Spurs is only a cash cow..follow the money
@SonnyTalksSpurs levy needs to buy better quality players and overall improve the quality off the squad show he whats to win trophies not use the clubs name to fill his pockets.. 25 year one trophy 15 managers is a disgrace and its on him
Well winning trophies stays in history --- you won't win the league unless you draw the best players in the world ..... while we get the 2nd best it will never be enough. Get in the champions league you get better players money will not get you a title of the EPL a team of champions will we need to run for the cups and qualify and then slowly get the players we need. BTW we didnt play our best players either in the cup and really do not think we went all out of the cup.
Not entirely true, as Brazil 50, Hungary 54, Holland 74 and Brazil 82 are still recognised as being the best teams in those World Cups. And the Hoddle team of the early 80s is still recognised as the best team of the time, despite not winning the league. (yes, we underperformed, as even the double winning side did in retrospect - should've won more league titles).
As a Tottenham fan and England fan, I've learnt that was should never get our hopes up or get too carried away too early. Expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed. Until it's over the line, have no expectations.
So far I def see Liverpool as the most dominant team out there. Hopefully we can sneak in at 4th this season, but it'll be really hard due to youth and inconsistency. I think with a short squad and w/o KDB and Rodri they will hold the ball and not do much with it and get countered on.
I think hoddle has an agenda, he’s so negative about Ange all the time on comms, don’t understand why, but it’s plain to see. I’m all in with our manager, we’re doing well, growing and improving with a massive overhaul. Ange has been brilliant and I for one am enjoying the football again 😁👍
Why haven't Spurs won anything? Is this serious? Everytime a Spurs player gets too good, they're purchased by Real Madrid, Manchester United (we were lucky to hold on to Kane but lost everyone else that was world class). If Dele maintained his trajectory, there is NO WAY he'd still be at Spurs. The challenge to compete with the so called big 6 is bigger of Spurs than the others as we're a feeder club - this needs to change.
And I would take mid table and a cup 💯 and lower in the PL though would we mean we are getting battered most games - so no thanks! Then again if we smashed Asna in a final! 🤔🤔🤔
When you fail, all you got left is Sht talking. Neville and Co failed at being managers, now spend time talking trash about managers. Manager's main strength is evaluating players. Neville and Co failed at also. Now spend time trashing players.
everyone forgets that levy was down with that ridiculous big 6 superleague bullshit, and mourinho was against it. was it merely coincidental to carabao cup final/mourinho's sacking? sure, and i've got a private island in the south pacific for sail. granted, it used to be just beachfront property, and it is melting, and occasionally rolls over, and you'll need your winter woolies, at least above water, but it's a great deal ...
If anyone genuinely would take bottom half football to win a 3rd rate cup against an Arsenal side who will challenge for the title, they need a head check. Do you think they'd be bothered? Really? Ffs.
What fruitless discussion or debate about which competition would like to win like they are controlled by the managers or fans willing! I don’t know why Ange even bothered to answer that stupid question! Also Simon said Ange doesn’t engage with the media. You can look up all you want if you don’t answer the questions with meaningful answers or just the right English. Sorry after all, it is English media and they do judge your language. Ange is the only one they would not dare to bully!
Managers like him sign up for massive deals to manage us and then slag us off. They will happily take the Tottenham departure money 💰💰💰, but never have the integrity to resign and walk away without a big payout. So offended by the way we do things at spurs, but so happily to take 💸💸 our money
Winning a trophy is an all-or-nothing situation: Pocchetino 'went for Cups', got very close on multiple times and won none. But he also qualified regularly for Champions League via the league. That's what Pocchetino is saying: 'I'm setting out to outperform Pocchetino'. You don't forget the League when you are nowhere near lifting a Cup - you keep your options open until you actually have real trade-offs to make. There's none of these mouthing-off fans who would not call for Postecoglou to be sacked if he finished 15th in the League, lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool, lost the Europa League semi-final to Man Utd and got knocked out in the 6th round of the FA Cup by Arsenal. They wouldn't call for him to be sacked if he finished 4th-6th and lost those Cups in the way previously described. If the fans want to keep players like Romero, Van de Ven, Vicario, Porro, Kulusevski etc, the very worst outcome in a season must be qualifying for the Europa League. Very worst. The fans should be careful what they wish for. Just remember: 17th and Carabao Cup is Europa Conference League football next season. It may very well not be good enough to keep the best players at the club. 17th and Europa League win is a totally different proposition. I'm all for winning the Carabao Cup, but not as a prelude to entry into the Europa Conference League. It should be a prelude to winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.
Anyone can say anything at anytime but who have Spurs beaten that are GOOD,last season ,this season and in any cup competition???...City reserves?with Haarland an un used sub(lol)...was Pep serious about winning?...Li VAR pool(the biggest stuff up ever)...only a win against Villa.Mate thats the reality....Many people are still in the "first ten rounds of last season" but since then its a mid table team. The squad is thin but the wages are trim!!(the Daniel way!)NEXT round in the League cup is BIG it wont be like OT!
Yeah can you imagine spurs in 15th and Jamie going nah that’s alright cause Ange got us to a Carabo cup final and we beat Arsenal, don’t be daft they’d all be screaming for him to be sacked cause your 15th in the league. This is what Ange and the overall supporters are fighting against, this type of so called ‘supporter’ never looking at the future just the week to week
Spurs is an amusement arcade nothing else Levy wants profit from every stream of the business until Levy goes nothing changes. I support Tottenham Hotspur’s football club not interested in any of the side interests Levy has got going
Spurs biggest problem has been and will always be Daniel Levy, the clubs business will always be first and the football will never be first. We will never get a good enough squad to compete against Arsenal with him there. The % profit will be what he cares about more than the position in the league.
@@ScottMaxwell-t6t progress? explain how you measure success for a football team? levy literally sabotaged tottenham's chance to win this very trophy just a couple of years ago, ending a decade+ silverware drought (no, the audio cup is brass, not silver). how do you explain that? we watched what pochettino was able to do without any meaningful financial support from the board levy chairs for all those years, only to be sacked by levy after taking spurs to their greatest elevation in competitive football, the champion's league final. once that rarified air has been tasted, a hunger should be created. levy starved that, too. i see no progress from levy. i see postecogleu attempting to overcome thonly barrier to FOOTBALL CLUB SUCCESS AT TOTTENHAM that has existed over the last 16 years. daniel f**king levy. i've seen conte, and mourihno, and pochettino all smash into it and burn. i'm cheering for ange, but i am not hopeful levy's idea of success is measured by the amount of television revenue. win enough games to get into europa league, win enough games to get into champion's league, win enough games to look good on a spreadsheet and show a profit he can present to shareholders to justify his own unearned bonuses oh, but actually try to win what the supporters want and need to win? actually try to win what the players want and need to win? you know, don't you? silverware? titles? never while levy is running the place. some of us clearly have longer memory than you clearly do. the leopard doesn't change its spots. at best, it lies a little lower in the grass, and waits a little longer before eating your face.
The man united argument is interesting
@@NotoriousJawz BUT how do you win anything without MONEY ?
One day (I'm not sure when) we'll look back and laugh about how stressed we were about trying to make progress on the pitch, when if just we step back and look at it, we are in an amazing position with our stadium & training ground. Like I say, I'm not sure when that day will be, but it will come, eventually, when what we are achieving on the pitch catches up with our achievements off the pitch. Anyone brave enough to pick a year when it might happen? 😜
Theres multiple answers one is failure to build the squad with players we actually needed and another is also failure in replacing our best players when they left, which in turn then dropped the quality throughout the squad
exactly
players are just cattle to levy, to be sold off in their prime for a healthy profit. always have been, always will be.
The best thing about Conte was his hair transplant. That was really impressive. Maybe that's why he thought he was too good for Spurs, with Levy being so old school, flaunting his baldness without any shame👴🏻
hahaha
"Spursy" should be put in the Oxford Dictionary! definition: "A promising entity that teases, entices... and consistently fails to deliver. Over generations. Hope is never dulled. But satisfaction... always on the horizon"
LOL
Might not be in keeping with many spurs fans, but for me Champions League football is the place to be, so top 4 is the most reliable route to that. Talking about winning the Europa is much easier to say than do. A Carabao Cup isn't worth a toss in my opinion. The nights we had in the Champions League under Harry and Poch were amazing & the best times for me as a spurs fan
We just won't win the UCL
@@SonnyTalksSpurswe nearly did
@@baggy79: we should've done. Liverpool underperformed and yet we still managed to lose. There were things going on behind the scenes and Poch went from walking on water to losing the squad between the SF and final. DL backed him strongly in the summer but the magic had died.
@@blrbrazil1718 totally 👍
Being a Spurs fan and an England fan...so near and so far, so often....
I can tell you why.
It's because the club have for decades had 1-2 big names, great players. They rotate in and out top class players, but never have a top team.
There's never been a top group of players to create that "great team". There's always been a lack of supporting players for the world class players they have had.
Roy Keane is a spurs fan. So I trust his judgement.
I love how he is
Fed up with spurs blowing hot and cold. We play brilliant one game, and then the next game we don't turn up. Consistency is what is needed. A different mindset needs to be installed in our players.
Spurs have a tag because historically they have won trophies, just not in the modern era. Nobody says a word about Newcastle, Everton or many of the other Prem teams because they are annual also rans.
that is true
Jose would have been negotiating hard before the cup final, Levy called his bluff and replaced him with Conte.
he did tbf
negotiating for what? keeping spurs out of that superleague BS? what would mourinho have been negotiating for, hmm? c'mon, you must know, what with your obvious psychic abilities 'n all.
when teams start suddenly going downhill, the maagers get the blame, but it's always diva players, money grubbing executives and coddling clueless owners that are doing the damage. it is to the point that even mighty man city have had to violate the rules 115 times in order to maintasin championship presence and image. thes last few years were bought and paid for, but were they earned?
Hoddle is my fave all time player , but how did he get our motto wrong?
I did think that
maybe he's just getting old ...?
Jamie not pointing out that we made five changes too. We didnt play maddison or son(injury) either.......its like he seemed more gutted we won than he would have been if we lost!!
haha
@@indianastones6032 Nor did they point out the average age of the City players was 3 years older than Spurs, but they played the 2nd team.
🙏
Just to show how much attention Glen Hoddle pays the motto is "To Dare is to Do" not "To Do is to Dare" he was a much smarter player and manager than he is a pundit
Yeah, I noticed that too. What a let down. Auderre Est Facere.
Levy's personal wealth has increaeed hugely since he took over they aren't a club, and Hoddle knows it, but will not say it. Spurs is only a cash cow..follow the money
seems it
I will forever think Jose was a huge missed opportunity he is a winner and we gave him no time to win.
He is washed
Really disappointing to hear Glen Hoddle get a dig in about Ange re: Fulham, seems threatened by Ange imo.
Totally true by Hoddle levy uses tottenham as a business no ambition to succeed on the pitch
What needs to change?
I think with a short squad and w/o KDB and Rodri they will hold the ball and not do much with it and get countered on.
here is hoping
@@uBenji1234 it is far too early to make definitive declarations. Let the season play out. #COYS

TROPHY ALLLL DAY LONG !!

We’re never win a trophy all the time levy is in charge, he’s not interested in trophy’s or even the football side of things
I would like if he just handled business and not football side
Think we need a trophy. I'd take the carabao and the europa. Would be tidy

@@SE7ENsc Europa title puts Spurs in Championship. Still, I’m with Ange. Win everything!
Might have been a good player but talks rubbish
Bournemouth just beat Man City. How much did they spend on players this season.
And they beat Arsenal.
👀
This is the same Gary Neville that predicts Arsenal to win the league the last 3 seasons Guy is a complete joke ex manager
Really?
Ffs.
That comment was to O'Hara and anyone who thinks like that.
We have no chance of winning the league so why not go for trophies
true!
What Conte said in his so called Rant was 100% correct, look at him now top of league with Napoli.
I don’t buy it
That league is nothing like the Prem ...
Managers like him sign up for massive deals to manage us and then slag us off. They will happily take the Tottenham departure money 💰💰💰, but never have the integrity to resign and walk away without a big payout. So offended by the way we do things at spurs, but so happily to take 💸💸 our money
spot on!
@@LevyHappyClapperSo what you’re saying is that shit squad Conte had would win Serie A?
It should be a prelude to winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.
great comment
Anyone can say anything at anytime but who have Spurs beaten that are GOOD,last season ,this season and in any cup competition???...City reserves?with Haarland an un used sub(lol)...was Pep serious about winning?...Li VAR pool(the biggest stuff up ever)...only a win against Villa.Mate thats the reality....Many people are still in the "first ten rounds of last season" but since then its a mid table team. The squad is thin but the wages are trim!!(the Daniel way!)NEXT round in the League cup is BIG it wont be like OT!
It was still a strong City side - also beat villa away 4-0?
@@SonnyTalksSpurs Haarland out of any city team makes it weak.He is a beast! Every team would take him if they could.

The % profit will be what he cares about more than the position in the league.

levy knows how to run a profitable investment corporation. he's got no friggin' clue how to run a successful fottball club.
@@thehellyousay Which is why he brought in qualified football people like Munn, Lange & Ange. If you don’t see progress, I can’t help you.
@@ScottMaxwell-t6t progress? explain how you measure success for a football team? levy literally sabotaged tottenham's chance to win this very trophy just a couple of years ago, ending a decade+ silverware drought (no, the audio cup is brass, not silver). how do you explain that? we watched what pochettino was able to do without any meaningful financial support from the board levy chairs for all those years, only to be sacked by levy after taking spurs to their greatest elevation in competitive football, the champion's league final. once that rarified air has been tasted, a hunger should be created. levy starved that, too.

levy's idea of success is measured by the amount of television revenue. win enough games to get into europa league, win enough games to get into champion's league, win enough games to look good on a spreadsheet and show a profit he can present to shareholders to justify his own unearned bonuses
