Thanks for all the wonderful comments. Wished I could reply to each one. There has been a few comments talking about how I'm not doing it right. Yes, I know that LOL, so below is an excerpt from the video's description: "There is an order that the strokes are to made in and as a beginner, I have no idea what I'm doing. In the video, I am not actually writing, but rather drawing the symbols, attempting to make them look like the ones from a printed sheet just out of the camera's view. If I do a series of these videos perhaps I'll learn along the way and be able to memorize not only the symbols themselves, but also the order of the brush strokes used to create each. Nevertheless, I found this to be very relaxing and I hope you experience just a fraction of what I felt when you watch this video."
Ignore them telling you that you’re doing it wrong! They’re all experts after all! 🤦🏼♀️ god I love those storms in the background! Thank you for all the effort you put into your vids x
I don't know why but I felt compelled to check out your channel and the "ego" playlist you have saved makes me glad I did. It's a really intelligent playlist, it's great that you listen to that kind of stuff. Terence McKenna, along with everybody else I recognized in it, are amazing thinkers. You're a pretty clever ape and I'm glad you exist. ..I might sound creepy or whatever but I wanted to tell you that.
As a native Chinese who had been practicing Chinese Calligraphy for years, I must say you are absolutely fantastic at imitating the forms and shapes of the characters and strokes considering that you are still a beginner. Helpful tip: try rubbing the brush sideways at the edge of the inkstone to squeeze out excessive ink after you dip your brush :) Ideally the ink shouldn't be oozing on the paper but it doesn't matter that much in this case anyways!
I want to explain the importance of this video on a personal note. I lost my wife of nearly 30 years and subsequently have found myself with extreme trouble sleeping. This video is close to perfect for me from a relaxation perspective. Without fail I fall asleep to this single video every night (so I have most of it memorized word for word). Truly the part where I start to go under is when we hear the train horn in the distance followed by rain. Something about that part puts me under, and then of course the last segment with only rain is as calming as it gets. So thank you for putting this together and understand the importance to some of us out here.
Sorry to hear about your wife. My condolences. Thank you for letting me know how this video has helped you. It's important for me to know that what I do is sometimes helpful to other people. I appreciate it.
@@RelaxingASMR Thank you. I am ~ your age, so it’s been tough. But each and every night this video puts me to sleep. One request (if you are looking for ideas) I think the idea of some kind of bedtime story with the rain in the background would be tremendous.
I lost my husband of 43 years just over 4 years ago and find it hard to get to sleep. I've listened to various ASMR videos, which do help sometimes, but just discovered these. They are so relaxing and quiet. I find some other videos are too fast spoken and noisy but these are just right. Long may they continue.

Thank you. For so much. Your videos got me through the passing of my father and all the long nights of cancer that lead up to it in 2015. Now you bring me comfort through the passing of my cat named after my father: dear Stevie. I don’t know how I would grieve without your videos honestly and I will be forever grateful for the work you do. Thank you.
I love how much information you share in your videos, and how much they're not commercial. I follow some ASMR channels where folks do unboxings and look at branded merchandise, but it's really nice to watch just--a hobby. With no brands or logos or anything ulterior like that involved.
Yeah. It's understandable that they want to make money from what they spend so much time doing, but it does dilute from the actual relaxation of it because it feels unnatural even when it's relaxing. It just doesn't really have a place in ASMR, but it's reasonable that they want to support themselves. Podcasts are doing it too, and it just feels forced no matter how you dress it up and make it look nice. It's a complicated situation. But when there are no ads and the ASMR artist is just focused on being in a relaxed state: it becomes a meditation, and meditation is really not about money.
Me too! I seriously was on the verge of getting a recorder for her lectures. I probably would've kept them for future ASMR, and now I regret not getting the audio down. It was the genetics professor.
You're relaxing, have plenty of interesting collections, can transform a piece of junk into an exquisite replica of a boat, you can draw a gorgeous catfish, and can even do a Chinese calligraphy whereas I can barely draw a stick figure. Greatest channel, you are.
By the way why in the eighth movie if you could use force lightning as a ghost didn't you just go and kill kylo ren before he destroyed lukes Jedi temple??
I adore every bit of this video- from the sounds the ink grinding and writing made, to the rain, and especially the history lesson/bits of knowledge. Thank you so much
This is the first video of you I watched, earlier this year (2024). In the meantime I've watched most of your videos and re-watched many of them. My favorite ASMR creator.

After a day in this world where it can feel like the whole worlds against you, this is a great oasis of a channel to come to. You can just forget all your worries, hopes, dreams, anxieties and just be totally relaxed. I had a rubbish day last week. The bus driver shouted at me for not ringing the bell when I got off, no one spoke to me in class discussion(looked like such a loner), my computer broke and all my games got deleted. Came here and it’s all okay , even though the problems still exist. I love asmr

I have to say this is my favourite ASMR channel, this is the first video i've seen of yours but I can already say for a fact I bet your others are just as good. Ive never really been into the tingles thing with ASMR, I rarely get them so I dont watch ASMR to get tingles, I just watch for relaxing. Ooooh boy is your channel top notch when it comes to relaxation. The rain and your voice and everything is just 11/10 love your stuff.
By the way, your voice would be perfect for the meditation sleep stories section of Headspace and the application "Calm," which also does sleep stories. You have a great voice.
This was great, but you really need to learn the stroke order for these characters. The rules that I have learned so far is that when you're making a "box" the first stroke is always the straight vertical line on the left, and the second one is the "roof" and the corner and the line on the right side in one stroke, and if there are some lines in the middle you draw those first before closing the box at the bottom. And Chinese character stroke are meant be written from top to bottom and from left to right. Keep this in mind and you will get the stroke order correct most of the time. It's currently 3F outside, buried in about a foot and a half of snow and watching/listening to this with the rain and thunder in the background has me longing for summer more than ever right now. Regardless, this is super relaxing and the background sounds are making it easy to pretend that there's no snow outside.
I watched this video for over 60 times now and I still puts me to sleep quite fast even tho it got quite boring hearing you telling me the same stuff each evening :D great work, I hope part 2 of the other Calligraphy video comes soon
Friends got me a Japanese calligraphy set for my birthday this year, but I had no idea how to use it. Then I remembered you made this video a couple of years ago, so I followed along with you and it was a very enjoyable experience :)
I can't believe so many people are commenting on the rain sounds in the background ( which are cool by the way) but nobody's commenting on the train in the background. I remember listening to talk radio when I was a kid before anybody even talked about ASMR and hearing trains in the background because we lived near the tracks. Maybe that's why I noticed it. And you say you don't know what you're doing? Who cares? If it hadn't been pointed out in the comments I would have never known you didn't know what you're doing and now that I do know, I still don't care. I didn't watch it to learn how to do Chinese calligraphy, I watched it for the relaxing ASMR and you definitely delivered on that. I don't care if you didn't make one symbol correctly it was still a good video.
I know I have probably told you this before but I absolutely love, love, love your videos oh, they are so addicting in so many ways, I look forward to sitting down before bed and falling asleep to the sound of your voice. Everything about your videos from the sound of your voice to the way you slowly bring stuff into the camera view at the beginning with slow-moving hands, and the pocketknife twirling on top of the wooden table, that sound is amazing, and I like the way you say "hello everybody" at the beginning, it's almost like an Elvis moment for me LOL. I like the background sounds with a thundering storm. And this video with the ink grinding that is very hypnotic and theway you do Chinese writing, I guess I just like every video in their own unique way. Videos are just addicting for me. Thank you too by the way for the videos

omg.. this is the haven? The best voice and video of asmr grinding japanese ink and wirting with rain in background?
I don't care if you didn't make one symbol correctly it was still a good video.
i really love the white noise in the background
So very grateful for this amazing video💜
