The brush should be dipped in cold water before use to melt the glue on the tip. After the brush is used, it should also be washed with cold water. After cleaning, the brush should be hung on the penholder to let it dry.Calligraphy is an important part of Chinese culture.I am very happy to share this art with you.
All of the ambient sound from outside like the rain and the passing train are the most calming sounds. I'm very glad you do not edit those things out. A great video yet again.
Love your videos. That might seem a little blah and not mean much from one subscriber, but I'm pretty sure I speak for most people that listen to your ASMR Channel 👍
I hope you indeed decide to do more Chinese calligraphy because your characters (judging from the March video) look way better than the usual beginners'. You already have a feel for balancing the various elements in a character. Imagine what you can do, armed with all the tools of this art form! For those interested, below are two web pages that could help a person get started. How each stroke is made contributes to the rhythm/flow of your calligraphy so it’s totally worth learning. Watching a brush in action is best but the diagrams at blog.tutorming.com/mandarin-chinese-learning-tips/7-basic-rules-to-chinese-stroke-order are also helpful. Then there's getting the stroke order right which can be daunting but it's important to the composition of the characters since each stroke is made in relation to the previous one(s). You can follow the animation at www.chineseconverter.com/en/convert/chinese-stroke-order-tool (try the slow speed!). This shows the path your brush should take on the paper while making the brush strokes. Man, I hope this makes sense…looking forward to more ASMR from you!
You have a Cardinal bird signing in your backyard. Those are beautiful birds with a nice distinct song they make. :) You can hear it signing throughout the video.
I've watched your videos for like 4 years now and I've always been sooo curious as to where you live/what your house looks like. Can you do like a room/house tour maybe?
Can't wait for the funny car video i also think a video of those boy scout patches i saw in the intro of the rainy night pocket knife sharpening video would be very cool to see either way keep up the great work
Welcome back! Lovely video. I think you also follow Yang Haiying who makes very good Chinese calligraphy videos. In fact I think I followed her because you do!
I have gotten ASMR as far back as I remember. It started during the days of Bob Ross when I recognized it. I now attribute it to my mild sleep apnea that makes my body malfunction and send chills and shivers. A sleep study showed that I snore some, have about 40-50 hypopneas (shallow or slow breathing episodes or airway closures due to obstructive sleep apnea) per night and about 100 breathing events of shallow or slow breathing per night. It feels like I ran a marathon in the morning. A warning to anyone out there who feels something similar...get yourself checked.
So many tingles and love the pen holder!! Those brushes are beautiful and look similar to white cloud brushes. I would recommend in your free time to just let them sit in room temp. Water because many manufacturers glue the bristles together for shipping but after they soak and wash, they will be very nice and free flowing! Your stroke order has improved very much! And practice stroke order with numbers is a great way to practice order because it has the basic rules! Just one little thing to remember, 5 is 五 the pinyin is wǔ just Incase you wanted to look it up. Keep doing what your doing!! Love it!
good stuff! It's always nice to see blown glass function as something else than as "pipes" or as incredibly high-brow, rarely attainable Chihuly-style art. I DO really like Chihuly though. Just sayin' :)
Hey, I checked out a library book today called “Janesville, an American Story”, by Amy Goldstein. It was at my library here in NC of all places! It begins with a history of the city, including Parker Pens! 😊 it’s mostly about the GM plant shutting down and the effect it had there. My uncle ran the boilers there at the plant for more than 30 years and I can’t imagine how it affects him losing that career all of a sudden. Anyway, it’s a good read so far and I think you’d like it.
Yes, I'm familiar with the book and the author. That plant closing down really was a blow to that town. Did you get to the part where many of the auto workers car-pooled back and forth to an out of state plant just so their families could make it? My dad worked there.
Not sure if someone linked it but check out yanghaiying. She has very relaxing and knowledgeable videos ranging from painting and calligraphy to simply making tea. Some of my favorites are her just grinding ink.
Love your videos... but this time I think you definitely should of ran the brushes by your wife, the artist. She probably would of known to presoak the brushes to dissolve the glue holding the bristles together. Hopefully the brush didn't get ruined and you can use it again. PS, please don't cut or saw those Chinese brushes. They are designed and built that way(long, thick, ect) for a special purpose. There are tons of videos on TH-cam about them specifically, and using them for different purposes like, Calligraphy, drawing, standard writing, and so on.
That intro, and especially the little joyful self-aware laugh at the end of it, was amazing.

I’m crying after that intro 😂 excited for another video
I love how gentle slow and relaxing all your motions and speaking is

A great video yet again.
“Sorry I haven’t made a video in several weeks...it hasn’t thunderstormed in a while”
Watching an asmr video in a duvet fort as a 20 something year old is... Recommended. I feel so safe and cosy 😂
Amazingly Awkward okay, I’m totally doing that!
Love your videos. That might seem a little blah and not mean much from one subscriber, but I'm pretty sure I speak for most people that listen to your ASMR Channel 👍
I have watched this video twice and I haven’t even seen you write yet! I keep falling asleep as you talk about the box. 3rd times a charm
This is now my 6th attempt. I still haven’t made any progress!
Man you sure seem to get a lot of rain in your neck of the woods🌂☁
factenter He adds it to the video for relaxation I think. Although it’s also possible that it rains where he lives 😉
Martin Robertson it's added...
The rain sounds are great.

You have a Cardinal bird signing in your backyard. Those are beautiful birds with a nice distinct song they make. :) You can hear it signing throughout the video.

Çyçã bylãt
He confused with the "king". 왕 왕.
中國書畫筆: Brushes for Chinese calligraphy and paintings (in traditional Chinese)
중국서화필
It's giving me anxiety when you just hoovering the brush over the paper and not painting anything :Ddd I was anxious to see the results

Love seeing the channel grow! Great vid!
That was a beautiful intro ♥️
and also the brushes have a sort of glue on them when new you should get them wet to get rid of this before using them

if you let the ink stick soak in the water for a good while it won't make that rough scraping sound
Welcome back!
I have a question. Can you do more nascar stuff?
I'm no expert but I believe you're meant to dip the brush in water to get the glue out of the bristles. That way the brush can flow more freely.
Nice intro dude , made me chuckle
Omg so nice
whether is always bad⛈️ but your videos are always pretty good☺☺
That's no pen holder, baby... That's a "tobacco" pipe, man...
ThothHeart Maat that’s what I though lmao
Me: (see's another video posted) aww yeah (see's this entrance) *Instant like*
hahah this into cracked me up!! :)

been watching some yanghaiying?
Corkoth55 Love her 😊
I was thinking he should watch her for practice!
What got you started in calligraphy? It's so interesting
yoits 90slizzle look up some tutorials or read a couple of books if you're interested and just go for it!
Cool channel!
I need part 2!
Someone messed up making a glass pipe and made it into a pen holder?
Alejandro Sosa that’s what I was thinking 😂😂
nice 'pen holder' haha

He is TH-cam grandpa and Sherly Curry is TH-cam grandma. We must protect our grandparents! Their channels are rude free zones!
The tip is hard because it is dipped in glue. Dip in water to rinse it out before writing.
happy to see my country arts here
看到是中文我就收藏了,大赞
The box says "Zhong guo shu hua bi"/"Chinese caligraphy brush pen".
heng, the first mark, is pronounced similarly to "hung" in english

what the hell that intro lmao
您让我这个中国人自愧不如…

5 should be ”五” not “王”🤣
Your nine looks good. Your five is really bad.
first 15 seconds... whut?
Are you bosnianbill? :)
This is Japanese, not Chinese.
Good to know. As a beginner I can't tell one from the other. Thanks.
Maybe they are alike? Who knows? www.tallyfamilymartialarts.com/terminology.html
Chinese and Japanese are similar. The ones he drew in this video mean the same thing in both languages.
tony This is Chinese
tony Kanji was used by the Chinese first, and then the Japanese started using it too. It's the same, but with different readings.
Oh my god...it’s Robert California from the office
