A main piece of evidence for the “Dogmeat is a synth” theory that I have heard absolutely NOBODY SPEAK ABOUT is the fact that there is a copy of Astoundingly Awesome Tales called “Have Dog Will Travel” that SPECIFICALLY gives a buff to Dogmeat located on a balcony in the Institute.
Oh wow this is awesome I didn’t see anything on this either in my research great catch sage, and really appreciate you taking the time to support what I do!
Okay, but if you found a grognak the barbarian issue in the institute would you think he’s a synth? This is just purely coincidental, unless there is some type of precedent for circumstantial evidence that hide bigger clues
@@dr.jajabakagah5716 if you saw grognak the barbarian and he was exactly like the comics and then found his comics in the institute would you think hes a synth?
one other note of the gary vault.... i kept a record of all the numbered garys i killed in that vault. the only number i couldnt find was gary 7. i later learned that he was not in the vault. gary 7 if you are unaware, was a character in the original star trek series he was kind of a secret agent time traveler. given the developers past for putting startrek easter eggs in the game, this was a small but unique one.
Cats in 76 is actually one of the easier things to explain from that game: they just hadn't gone extinct yet. In 4 we see Ashes in vault 81, so it seems safe to assume that one or more vaults at the very least contained cats, as 81 doesn't seem the type to let in some animal from outside, and the fear over Ashes leaving. Cats explained, not complicated, but easy to overthink.
@@9volt65 Or House just hasn’t seen any cats in the Mojave. The distance from New Vegas to Boston is 2,700 miles, and I don’t think House receives East Coast intel briefings about cat populations. And he certainly doesn’t know about the populations of cats elsewhere, like Europe or Russia or India or Africa or Australia. In other words, House is just pulling a “fact” out of his a$$ and presenting it as the truth despite having no idea whatsoever if it’s true.
I'd argue that even this is overthinking it. Occam's razer, friend. The simplest explanation is the most likely. Fallouts 1, 2 and New Vegas all take place half a world away on the west coast. While not quite that far, DC, Boston, and the part of West Virginia where 76 takes place are all hundreds of miles apart from each other. Mr. House's vision is, as far as we know, limited to the Vegas area plus however far his Securitrons have roamed. Communication between east and west coasts are likely difficult. It's hardly a mystery that cats might be rare or extinct in some areas of the country, but thriving in small pockets here and there. Or, as 'Friends I Talked To' says, Bethesda simply forgot. They're not exactly known for their strong grasp of Fallout lore. In any case, it's easily explained so I don't see the need to paint it as a conspiracy as this video does.
It's good to know that when the bombs do start to fly, a bunch of Fallout fans will be giving the mushroom clouds one last thumbs up, wrongly believing themselves to be out of the danger zone.
Okay I like where you went with the gunners part. But we all know the real reason they are so mysterious is that Bethesda didn’t flesh them out as a faction. They were just like “let’s put in more organized raiders”
Most of these can be attributed to Bethesda being like, putting this here is fun, and people going backshit insane trying to find a sense in every single asset of the game
They are mercenary’s not raiders. They give you verbal warnings every time you go into their area not to go there. As far as they’re concerned you don’t know how to mind your own business and you’re not staying out of their turf so you will be addressed with powder and lead.
I have a hypothesis on the cats thing, I think cats went extinct on the west coast, but on the east coast, particularly in metropolitan cats became a more dominant species. It would explain the large abundance of cats within fallout 4 and 76. There also can be a case made that many of the cats in Fallout 4 are synths.
It's not like mister house has all that much information about the world outside of the Mojave so I see not reason to take his opinion on their extinction beyond that very seriously.
Synth theory doesn’t work due to cats being present in 4 and 76 but being set 200 years apart. The institutes synth tech is relatively new, as well as the organisation not having the resources to send artificial cats into the wasteland a mere 20 years after the Great War.
@@5RndsFFE I'm not saying all cats are synths, I'm saying a portion of them are, there does happen to be an unusual percentage even within Boston. It's similar to how there's major speculation how many birds are just synth drones
@@adamusprime403 There’s some potential merit to it I guess, given how all the felines appear to be physically unaltered by the radiation, unlike their canine adversaries and almost every other terrestrial mammal. I’m still with train of thought about a cat vault that maybe had 1 human and 100 cats. As for the existence of avian synths, I do recall reading a terminal entry as well as some dialog within the institute that they had synth crows/ravens and were using them to spy on the Commonwealth. This doesn’t mean all crows/ravens are synths, especially given their appearance in Fallout NV.
@@5RndsFFE i say cats went extinct post-great war and commonwealth cats then are likely clones from the institute (synths have synth component on death)
I've always had this fan theory in my head about Fallout, that places like the Divide and the Sierra Madre were actually divine intervention. The Sierra Madre was meant to be a safe haven, essentially a better Vault than what Vault-Tec had made, but it had inadvertently become a prison because of bad business deals with the Big Empty thanks to the cloud. The Divide is similar, but all so different. The people of Hopeville had banded together and made a tribe, a village even, before the Courier (the player) had been tasked to sending an old, pre-war activation key to the town of Hopeville. The town was destroyed, the Earth split apart, and radiation and brutal, skin tearing dust storms ravaged the area. Hopeville died, and many routes died with it. However, bringing ED-E with you reveals that Hopeville was most likely a secret Enclave settlement. Enclave sciences, some weaponry, even the old pre-world stuff the Enclave likes to rightfully say is there's is all present in the Divide. Tunnelers were most likely an experiment that had broken containment from them. And it actually leads up to a another fan theory of mine as well. The Player is actually a former Enclave member. The player asks questions about incredibly obvious things, like it's there first time seeing them, and even some NPC's are surprised at the lack of history. Course, Vegas is East of where Fallout 1 and 2 take place, but that doesn't mean that The player Courier started in the West. It's possible that they started in the West, as Ulysses mentioned many different names of cities that we haven't seen yet. Granted, you could chuck that up to being new in the area, but even a new towny would have the gist of who or what someone was.
Maybe a certain amount of the population has lead poisoning, which are the ones that are turning into Ghouls and not just dying. Because lead in the Fallout universe is one of the things that protects against radiation poisoning. And the ones that had higher lead contamination are maybe the ones that didn't become feral and could still talk and function.
I guess that could make some sense however if i remember correctly, high amounts of lead poisoning can cause issues such as a negative impact on intelligence, something that isnt really seen with the non feral ghouls in the game.
@@mr.sexyman123 It DOES seem like most non feral ghouls are usually intelligent. With the least being gob. Who isn't all that far below normal intelligence in that universe. So maybe that's the answer. Lead poisoning would bring down intelligence but offer protection from radiation enough to cause ghoulification. But you have to have some excess intelligence to lose in both processes to remain non feral. With a consistent drop also being experienced. Making it inevitable but the smarter you were at the start, the longer you have.
just imagine, being born into the NCR and having to deal with the backlash of Fallout 1/2 and NV, Either trying to help it strive or join one of the many other factions in the areas, caesars legion, vault city, etc. living your childhood in shady sands. Not sure if this has been said before but as to why some ghouls have retained their humanity might have to do with something mental. Every major ghoul that I've met has always had or wanted something to do to keep them going kind of like old people in retirement wanting to be useful so they'll fix things, mow the lawn, build something or what have you. Just basically keep their mind going so that they don't go mindless.
The ghoul’d whale was a missed opportunity. Ir could have been a really cool secret to find. The assets in game actually aren’t the ghoul whale. They are dolphins. Where as a giant squid and ghoul whale were initially supposed to be in game as well.

I have a fear of water in games (look up serious sam electro fish) and if this was an easter egg i found id absolutely shit myself and never touch the game again
My mom bought fallout 3 for me way back when it dropped … I had never played Fallout before, I tried it out for maybe an hour and I hated it. Game sat for a year and I gave it another try, and it quickly became one of my top 3 most favorite series of all time. The depth of story, side quests, crafting, the conspiracies within the game. Man I would’ve never guessed I’d be a complete fallout nut especially after my first go with the series.
"The depth of story" and "fallout 3" placed in one sentence are a gramatical error and a logical fallacy. If there is one thing good about that.. thing that calls itself Fallout and RPG, it's definitely not the story.
@@sekritdokumint9326 my bad I forgot the part where you were the authority on the depth of stories for games and how I feel about them. Nice to meet you keep up the good work 😄
Duck and Cover does have some utility actually. If you're far enough that the blast and radiation don't get you, you may still be in range of the shockwave that will cause debris to fall. Ducking and covering under a table was meant to prevent debris from killing you. In school, I did a similar thing with Tornado drills, where I put my hands over my head in the hallway.
@@FranklyGaming oh yeah, definitely not. However, I found out that many schools built during the cold war have fallout shelters. I went to a school built in the 1960s that had one. Of course, now they just use it for storage.
The pressure wave generated from a nuclear weapon is possibly far more destructive than the localised radiation. Overpressure as it’s known has the ability to essentially “liquefy” any organically it comes into contact with, so ducking and covering would break line of sight with the wave and minimise its effects on the body.
I've always figured the mysterious stranger was thought up from the devs watching old nuclear 'duck and cover' type community awareness ads. In one I remember seeing a quick scene where someone's fallen over while running in the street and some shady, mysterious guy in a big trench coat and bowler type hat just shows up and helps the person up. I can imagine someone watching it and thinking "where did this mysterious trench coat guy show up from just to help out"? And then come up with the idea for the game
It would make more sense for Dogmeat to have been sent to you so you would deal with Kellogg given that he’s required to find him and the institute would have no second thoughts of the inability for us to gain access to it… I find it hard to believe Father would think we’d gain access too even if he wanted to see us
Oh, that might be what I remember! I got spooked when he said it was just in a comic because I thought I heard this story before (or a similar one..) in game...
I just like to think the Mysterious Stranger is like the embodiment of fate. So that the main character isn't supposed to die till they achieve whatever they achieve (Noted by the ending in each game then they kinda become this talked about person whoes story travels far and wide but never really did anything amazingoutside of that)
I like to think that The Mysterious Stranger is a reference to the movie A Beautiful Mind. In it, the main character suffers from schizophrenia and has a mysterious man who appears only to him, clad in an overcoat and hat named Barney. Barney seems to be omniscient and even saves the main character a few times. Maybe the Stranger appears to people in the wasteland similar to that. Also, there's another theory that it was aliens who started the war in Fallout.
Ya I almost included the alien theory but liked them being connected to vault Tex more found it more interesting, also thanks so much for taking the time to support what I do!
@@Lance-The-BoS-Lancer They're not. Fallout 4's casefile on the Stranger implies that it's the same one that people have seen in Boston, and accounts collected by Valentine date back to Fallout 1.
It's mentioned in FO3 during the ultrajet side quest that chems don't have the same intoxicating effect on ghouls, so that could be part of it, at least from a lore perspective
I used to shoot up heroin and meth for a few years, and while this doesn't compare to addicts surviving high nuclear exposure, using those two hard drugs had some interesting side effects I guess you would call them. Like I never got sick at all while using, which may have been because any illness I may have got would be killed or overpowered by the meth, kinda acting like a chemical disinfectant inside your bloodstream. It sounds far-fetched, and probably is, but I had bedbugs at one point, but they never bit me at all, but then when had this girl over they bit her. She didn't use heroin at the time, but we started dating and eventually she started shooting heroin too, and then after that hey never bit either of us. Mosquitos wouldn't either. I theorized it was because our blood constantly had heroin and meth going thru it, so anything that tried to suc our blood or bite into us would die from an overdose. Like I said, it barely relates, but I think it's some fun neat info on what an addict's body can do lol. One last thing too actually. Sober, I can barely touch my toes without bending my legs, but on heroin, I can completely fold my body so my face can touch my knees with my torso basically touching my thighs aswell! But god does your body become sore the next day after that lol
@@michaelboyle7281 This reminds me of that meme "Please God, don't let crack be the cure to everything", but your theory does make a bit of sense, as (if I remember correctly) those parasites you mentioned can smell your blood, and if you have what is technically a toxin flowing through your body, they wouldn't bite. Or another theory is that they did bite, and you just didn't notice, but I'm not sure how oblivious to stuff like that on those substances, so...
not everyone wants new york. i literally never even considered it or thought of it. To me Colorado is the most desired location for Fallout. There is more Lore that ties to fo1,2,NV than any other location. if you were to follow the plot points and lore segments from fo1 to nv it would all eventually lead to colorado. for years and years around 2006 everyone was talking and thinking colorado. because in colorado the NCR, the enclave, BOS, Khans, Roboco and had an army manufracturing plant, and there were whole squadrons of Robo-brain dogs that patrol the city of boulder and denver that the enclave let loose to kill survivors, and other factions have primary locations in that state. there is more old world political lore beats in Colorado than any other location (alaska and fo3 excluded). i have literally never heard anyone talking about a possibility of New yorks. but i am also an older generation FO fan and have been following plot points from the original series. This new york thing seems to be an entirely new thought point in the fo fanbase. considering i have never heard anyone speak that sentiment. that is why a lot of players didnt like fo4 or fo76 when they first launched. because a lot of us older fans feel like our plot points we have been following for the past 20+ years has just been discarded. edit: also iirc FO:nv the son of the mysterious stranger is from colorado i believe... js
Yeah i don't mind if New York doesn't come for a while. i'd much rather something like Fallout London next. There are so many things in britain that would be awesome to see in a fallout game. Like radbadgers or Radgers. Rad-hedgehogs, or Radgehogs. Even foxes, grey squirrels. Plus all the references to british sitcoms and comedic cinema like the Carry On franchise. (still the film series with the most sequels of all time, godzilla and Marvel haven't caught up yet) I guess i just wanna see a Mr Handy that talks like Kenneth Williams. Making constant double-entendres and innuendoes. I know there is a Fallout London mod coming, but so far from their trailers and stuff i've not seen evidence that they are doing any of the things i actually wanted from a UK fallout game.
@@ongobongo8333 all i have to say to that. is the 2nd fo vault dweller lived and died in colorado..... literally never heard anyone clamour for new york. in 360 era all i heard all day every day was give us colorado. the New york trend annoys me because its baseless and comes from no where. whereas the other locations such as Washington state, louisiana, colorado, and much of the midwest have actual plot points and lore that has just been abandoned.
Another interesting place would be Alaska. Not only a place we already visited (as a simulation of prewar times) in Operation Anchorage, but the leftover remains from the time the state was occupied by China may give some info on the unexplored "other side" of the Great War. Plus, a Fallout in the snow is a cool concept.
Being from New England and also thoroughly enjoying Fallout 4; I would melt with joy if they did Colorado as I have moved and lived here for the past 4 years. They NEED to incorporate Mesa Verde if they were to move their gaze here. Mesa Verde is my mnemonic joy of Colorado.

You forgot to mention that there's an Astoundingly Awesome Tales in Fallout 4's Vault 114 titled "The Man Who Could Stop Time." His appearance on the cover is similar to the Stranger wearing a large coat and seems to imply a scene of him saving a woman from a car crash. Something I find incredibly interesting as in game he always appears as an average Caucasian adult man not looking too old or, ghoulish.

15:27 I love the note that comes up. Even more entertaining is that little stutter-step in your delivery; that _exact_ moment your brain farts, and then tries to recover. It does this by scooping up everything in sight and just shoving it out on stage and let the chips fall where they may.
Yup my theory was also that the Gunners are the remnants/descendents of the Malden Middle School Vault, since they were specifically trained in gunplay and military tactics. Which the Gunners do quite well. Definitely not ALL of them since they are known to recruit from outside their ranks (Maccready for example), but the faction was almost certainly originally from Vault 75
Regarding Cats: IIRC, you can speak to "Marge Lebarge" at some point in Fallout 2 who talks about the immediate couple years post-war, and how everyone ate their cats just to survive. Either this phenomenon didn't occur on the east coast... or it's possible that the starving times affect Appalachia later, and/or the Institute clones them in the Boston area later on.
Or cats had more places to escape to in a more forested East . The cats we see in 4 and 76 are the descendants of former feral cats that were captured a humanized be survivors.
The most accepted explanation is much more simple: Bethesda was pissy that Obsidian's entry was much more loved and went out of their way to piss on a piece of lore from it.
@@Veladus That's a retarded theory lmao, it makes more sense that cats wouldn't be hunted to extinction on the east coast as food is significantly less scarce than in the *checks notes* hottest desert on earth. The only people pissy about Fallout are fans like yourself

My theory for the whole cat thing is that it’s possible just that a vault allowed you to bring a pet or something of that sort, and all the cats are descendents of some of the vault cats. And they could be extinct on the west coast, hence why house makes claim they’re all gone
Fallout 2 has some mentions of cats being more of a food source like how squirrels and iguanas are used for food, the west being a damn desert afterall means crops and food would be harder to come by, while places like Boston, West Virginia, and probably dozens of vaults, would have either thousands of stray cats or pet cats, Pets did have an affect on the wasteland, Emperor scorpions are the descendants of pet scorpions, I'd also wager that all the cats in fallout 4 are grey, which could be evidence of a limited gene pool in a vault, or an adaptation to the environment

I was thinking that Dogmeat was a synth made by the Institute, sent by Shaun himself so Sole Survivor wouldn't feel as lonely. He put Dogmeat near the Red Rocket because it's pretty close the Sanctuary Hills. So he predicted that SS would check on Sanctuary Hills first and then continue on to Red Rocket as their next destination, then they continue their adventure with Dogmeat
If this theory is true it adds to the absolute insanity of shaun going "hmmm yes I'm going release my living parental unit and instead of just porting them to tge institute right off the bat I'm gonna have them suffer and probably due, possibly become a cannibal or a drug addict and hope they make their way to me in my cleverly hidden nearly impossible to find hideout that you need to literally teleport into to access so we can reconnect before I die which could be at any point now." 1000 time more fun and worse. It's like him going "oh and I'll give him a dog so he won't be lonely :)"
Except of course for the fact that Nick knows of Dogmeat and calls for him in Diamond City if the Sole Survivor didn't stop at Red Rocket and acquire him and then there's Mama Murphy who sent Dogmeat out to find help for the band of Quincy survivors. The story points in the game shoots down this theory quite well. Dogmeat is known of in The Commonwealth long before The Sole Survivor was released from Vault 111
@@andyb2260my theory for dog meat is simple. Much like the mysterious stranger he’s a wasteland oddity/spirit. That’s why there’s been multiple “dogmeat” through the different fallout games. Mama Murphy even says “he always knows what to do” and “he will be loyal to you”. He’s not a normal dog but I don’t think he’s a synth either rather he’s representing the wastelands spirit and accompanying the player through their wasteland journey. Besides as you mentioned multiple story points don’t make sense if he’s a synth especially once you side against the institute lol.
4:02 Can I posit my own theory? Cats are only locally extinct. That would make sense to me. The Mojave is a hot place, even more so after the bombs, so anything without fur is gonna have a bad time. Dogs are still kept by humans but that is likely due to their persistent usefulness for hunting. The original “survival use” for cats, catching and eating mice, is complicated seeing as rats and mice are gigantic now and the new pest creatures are nothing like them. Mr House has no real contacts outside of the East Coast at most, so he assumes they’re extinct. That really doesn’t seem like him tho. Tbh this is a retconn from Bethesda I actually like. No, obsidian, why the fuck would cats go extinct? Even just in the Mojave? Why would the only reference of that fact be from Mr. House is a relatively obscure voice line? As an evolution and zoology nerd, a lot of shit about Fallout world building when it comes to animals infuriates me. The cats going extinct factoid is right up there with horses not existing
Haha ya I totally agree it makes more sense for cats to have survived in some capacity, but cat vaults are just too funny to pass up, thanks so much for supporting my channel by the way!
@@FranklyGaming Absolutely no problem, friend. You deserve it. On the topic of Fallout, though, I have my own silly pet theory that I’d like to share (though it’s not disturbing, nor really a theory): Jimmy Neutron takes place in the fallout universe. I have no evidence, but there’s some interesting connections. Obviously there’s the Robot Dog with a brain in a jar concept, which is a pretty specific trope both stories have. Next is something I missed as a kid: the town Jimmy Neutron takes place in, Retroville, has a 50s suburb aesthetic despite language, technology and culture being a lot more advanced. Doesn’t that describe pre-war america perfectly? It also fits in with another theory I heard that speculates the pre-War US government designed towns to match a 50s aesthetic artificially, almost like the reverse of the cultural revolution in China. Retroville could have one of these specially designed towns.
Adding on to that, most of the mongrel dogs in the game (those aside from dogmeat and rex) seem to have much less fur, either cause of the radiation or just due to breeding with local coyotes who are more suited to the heat.

Vlad the Impaler, who Dracula the vampire is based on, would often do the thing with impaling bodies on spears like what’s seen at the farm. Also, the people who live underground are sensitive to the sunlight, like vampires are.
20:12 literally impossible even if they were both originally created by the same company (which they weren't). fallout takes place on (an alternate) earth. the elder scrolls takes place on nirn where the entire universe is designed differently. nirn has 2 moons, earth has 1. nirn's "stars" are holes in oblivion that lead to Aetherius (the realm of magic).. they aren't balls of gas like in the universe earth exists in. nirn is also at the center of its "solar system"... the differences go on and on but the point is made. idk how anyone can think they're even remotely related
The only people who say Fallout and TES are related are those with barely even a surface-level knowledge of TES lore and haven't played the games prior to Skyrim. All they see is 'Oh, it's fantasy medieval Europe'. If you tell them the entire setting is the dream of a sleeping god, it blows their minds.
I also facepalmed at the lack of space knowledge. "We could have another moon in a few million years" No, we couldn't. Our moon is over 4 billion years old. It predates all life on Earth, and it was created when Earth and another planet (Theia) collided and merged. Both of Nirn's moons are spherical, meaning they have a pretty damn significant amount of mass. Objects with that much mass don't just appear out of nowhere. We're talking about something that made the dinosaur-killing asteroid look like a pebble. Moons that size have to come from somewhere, and there's nowhere one could come from for Earth, especially not in what is - in astrological terms - the blink of an eye.
Great video, just a small note - Van Buren was cancelled in 2003, while Bethesda didn’t acquire the Fallout rights until 2007. In the video you state that Van Buren was cancelled after Bethesda acquired the rights. You might be thinking of FOOL - Fallout Online - a game that interplay kept the rights to for a time.
One thing, wouldn't exactly call Fallout the little brother to Elder Scrolls. The franchises have two completely differently origins are are almost the same age, if anything Fallout is like Elder Scrolls adopted brother as Bethesda simply purchased the rights to Fallout.
48:05 when I was a teenager my father actually picked up a real numbers station on a radio. This would have been roughly 2006-2012. I remember listening to it. The announcer spoke in English with a slight accent that would indicate possibly Central or South American origin but otherwise was unidentifiable. It would rattle off a list of numbers and sometimes words, randomly, then repeat itself on a loop but only stayed up for about 7 minutes before cutting to static. I was certainly a strange experience.
W the release of the show it’s fair to say that the thumbs up was to check if you were too close. Forget what episode but coopers daughter asks her dad(the vault boy) about it.

I think the mannequins being alive is an easter egg for Skyrim's mannequins where players reported about mannequins moving around while changing cells. This is because Skyrim's mannequins were actually still NPCs with a mannequin skin applied to them which explained their creepy behaviour.
I think ghouls are caused by the aerosol form of FEV, as we saw ghouls, particularly sentient ghouls, are far more common in the west near the military base that was nuked. And Harold was a ghoul-like person, who was exposed to high amounts of FEV and radioactive tree sap. We also know that feral ghouls are caused by a cognitive battle between the higher mind and our animal instincts, as we're exposed to more radiation the animal mind becomes more prominent, and the higher mind weakens. We learn this at repcon and get further clarification from the nuka world dlc.
FEV has nothing to do with ghouls, and Harold is a mutant who was only splashed with FEV and not dunked like other mutants. And there was no tree sap, his head rotted away and a seed fell in and grew.
@@Lance-The-BoS-Lancer This is just a theory but in Van Buren you find out he was raised at Twin Mothers and the Nursery. I could imagine he may have had a few seeds on him from the nursery when he changes, thus the tree growing in his head. Just me thinking. I really don't care for his ending in FO3.

@@hugofaria9881 this actually makes it fit within the fallout universe better. Most factions in the wasteland have some sort of fanatical belief that causes them to do a lot of shitty things. Ive never thought new york would be a good fallout location, but i always thought and see people saying Detroit would be, you’re still connected to Canada, right on a great lake, and theres a good balance of urban and suburban and even a bit more rural areas
As for the shared universe theory. It's been suggested by the author of The Hunger Games, since she loved the lore of the Fallout games and always wondered what a world after a nuclear apocalypse would turn into The Hunger Games and Fallout are in the same Universe. So it's not to far fetch to think Panem is set 500 or 1000 years after the great war in the Fallout games and Panem was actually founded by the Brotherhood Of Steel since they had had all the technology and military power and still had the mindset of hoarding everything for themselves. The Brotherhood Of Steel killed almost if not all the radioactive mutated life and after the radiation had gone away (in certain areas) they established "districts" in the safe areas to fullfil certain necessities such as food, power, weapons and technologies, while all they hoarded all of it at what would become their headquarters the Capital.

I'm surprised he went with that and not the theory that PAM was responsible (either intentionally or accidentally but probably the latter). The theory goes that the data showing China launched was actually just a simulation by PAM. Because she's notoriously glitchy, she had put the simulation on the wrong monitors. Believing China had launched, the US launched a "retaliation" strike, and China launched a genuine retaliation strike in response. This is horrifying realistic, because NATO once almost launched on the Soviets because a training tape was played on the wrong monitors and they thought it was real. As for PAM, the theory goes that this is why she warns everyone she meets not to listen to her; she knows she's glitchy as fuck and her data causes far more harm than good... but no one ever listens.
My theory about the cats is that they simply only went extinct in certain parts of the world. It's evident that certain parts of the world would be less hospitable for cats to live in such as the heavily irradiated wastes of the Pitt and capital wasteland or the water dry regions of the west coast. West Virginia, being relatively free of radiation makes it ideal for cats to live in. As for the commonwealth, the theory of a cat vault or institute synths being released are all equally possible
I have the theory that "Call of Cthulhu" Fallout and Skyrim, share the same Universe, connected by the Cosmic Horror beneath them. Look the stories about the ancient ones, it connects with Starfield too
Well considering the Mysterious Stranger perk is under luck in I believe every game, it could be he is tied to a luck deity that likes to tilt the odds in your favor from time to time. In fallout 76 there is even a perk where you can get revieved by said stranger.
It’s insane to me that the Vault Boy thumb theory went from being a Reddit hoax, to a community headcanon, to becoming officially canonized by the fallout TV show.
I have another theory about the Institute I havent seen talked about enough: The Institute created armies of Super-Mutants and released them to the Surface World for the express purpose of keeping the Surface population down. This is why they kept maintaining FEV Research for decades with Brian Virgil kept in the dark about the ultimate goal of the project, they knew his morally-inclined mindset wouldnt approve of the FEV Project's goal so they kept it a secret from him.
@@twoohsimp1412 It's... complicated. FEV was developed prewar, first as cure for the new plague, then, when it showed promise as supersoldier serum, it was taken over by military. So.. FEV was prewar. But supermutants were never out of the labs. Some time after the 30 minute war, fallout 1 happens, with a guy using it to create army to conquer the world. In boston, there were no supermutants before the war, but the Institute somehow got their hands on the samples of FEV prewar. We know the supermutants in bostopn are their creation, since there are dialogues and terminal entries regarding that. We also know they wiped out the pre-war proto state, because they didn't like how long everything took to decide.
Honestly the cat thing I just think might be a West coast issue although I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some cats just hidden in a vault somewhere ( I'm now making a stupid head canon vault in Wyoming where the vault experiment is just a cult of cat lovers)

Dogmeat is NOT an Institute spy. He's just a recurring series companion. There was a Dogmeat in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. In reality, Dogmeat is just Fallout's version of Blood, the dog from the post-apocalyptic movie: A Boy And His Dog (1975) which is the movie that inspired Fallout. 28:05 How the hell did you get aliens from that. It's an obvious reference to the Georgia Guide stones lol
I've got a theory linking Fallout and Outer Worlds: It's ghouls I tell ya. Religious ghouls in rockets, looking for a land to call their own. They cured their sickness, but lost their memories.
Dogmeat is actually one of the many characters that brushes up against the more supernatural elements in the series. Like the Mysterious Stranger (described as an odd and eldritch entity in Fallout 3), Dogmeat is something of a guardian angel. A mysterious stranger in the form of a dog, who shows up in times of need. Dogmeat aids the Vault Dweller and "dies" in 2162, yet returns to possibly aid the Chosen One in taking down the Enclave in 2241, aids the Lone Wanderer in 2277, and again, the Sole Survivor in 2287. So, while Dogmeat probably isn't a dog (or if he ever was, and really did die in 2162, he returned later as a guardian angel), he's definitely not a synth.

There is a lady in the Diamond City upper stands who has a house full of cats. Domesticated cats also show up in various cities throughout the game.
Alternately: Bethesda literally just forgot/retconned it.
@@9volt65 or theres also the idea that cats went extinct in the goddamn desert that is the western united states

They were just like “let’s put in more organized raiders”
yeah but lore reasons are more fun
Most of these can be attributed to Bethesda being like, putting this here is fun, and people going backshit insane trying to find a sense in every single asset of the game
@@Matiargentino100 That's basically FromSoft's approach to Souls lore too
They are mercenary’s not raiders. They give you verbal warnings every time you go into their area not to go there. As far as they’re concerned you don’t know how to mind your own business and you’re not staying out of their turf so you will be addressed with powder and lead.
@L the powdergangers have like 3 different questlines and are actually backed up with lore, the gunners are just there
I have a hypothesis on the cats thing, I think cats went extinct on the west coast, but on the east coast, particularly in metropolitan cats became a more dominant species.
What's more interesting to me about the teddy bears is they're clearly in a war with the garden gnomes in, at least, Fallout 3.
Getting shot in the head can't be good for your memory either
Maybe a certain amount of the population has lead poisoning, which are the ones that are turning into Ghouls and not just dying. Because lead in the Fallout universe is one of the things that protects against radiation poisoning. And the ones that had higher lead contamination are maybe the ones that didn't become feral and could still talk and function.
I really love this idea awesome take could be the case for sure, thanks for watching!
@@FranklyGaming Hahaha it just popped into my head as I was listening to some of the theories you were talking about in this video.
I guess that could make some sense however if i remember correctly, high amounts of lead poisoning can cause issues such as a negative impact on intelligence, something that isnt really seen with the non feral ghouls in the game.
@@mr.sexyman123
It DOES seem like most non feral ghouls are usually intelligent.

A wizard did it.

Oh ya you are right 100% I more just meant it ain’t saving you close range hahaha, thanks so much for watching by the way!
If the debris falling will kill you, a classroom desk probably won't stop it.
Coming from a place with a ton of tornados you're a dork for doing that lol
I've always figured the mysterious stranger was thought up from the devs watching old nuclear 'duck and cover' type community awareness ads. In one I remember seeing a quick scene where someone's fallen over while running in the street and some shady, mysterious guy in a big trench coat and bowler type hat just shows up and helps the person up. I can imagine someone watching it and thinking "where did this mysterious trench coat guy show up from just to help out"? And then come up with the idea for the game
It would make more sense for Dogmeat to have been sent to you so you would deal with Kellogg given that he’s required to find him and the institute would have no second thoughts of the inability for us to gain access to it… I find it hard to believe Father would think we’d gain access too even if he wanted to see us
Ya definitely follow this line of thinking as well, thanks for supporting my work!
The puppetman actually is somewhat in the game. You can find his vault suit and hear some people talking about getting rid of the cursed thing.

I can only imagine the pain their lol if I felt like what they must id also wana be absolutely blasted
Well, Preston did say ferals’ brains are rotten… And you know what they say about your brain on drugs.
New York is obviously better
Mesa Verde is my mnemonic joy of Colorado.

just imagine, being born into the NCR and having to deal with the backlash of Fallout 1/2 and NV, Either trying to help it strive or join one of the many other factions in the areas, caesars legion, vault city, etc. living your childhood in shady sands. Just to reiterate you could have the player choose what faction they are born into on the west coast, remnant enclave, BOS, RAIDERS, Crimson caravan the possibilities are endless. they should take a look at all their previous games, then look at the most popular mods that came with them, implement the ones that are canon/immersive, and then make the thing 2-4 player co-op if not private 76 style servers, people can join each other's games while still playing the same character
If it *is* the Mysterious Stranger then well, that makes him REALLY old at 200+ as well. Something I find incredibly interesting as in game he always appears as an average Caucasian adult man not looking too old or, ghoulish.

@@Evarakeus Bethesda's salt over New Vegas being far better received by fans than their own titles is well documented. I really couldn't care less what an idiot fanboy thinks.
And I'm not "pissy" because we're talking about the lore of a game with aliens and zombies. Who the hell takes it seriously enough to care? Well, you, I guess. But anyone that matters, I mean?
My theory for the whole cat thing is that it’s possible just that a vault allowed you to bring a pet or something of that sort, and all the cats are descendents of some of the vault cats. And they could be extinct on the west coast, hence why house makes claim they’re all gone
Fallout 2 has some mentions of cats being more of a food source like how squirrels and iguanas are used for food, the west being a damn desert afterall means crops and food would be harder to come by, while places like Boston, West Virginia, and probably dozens of vaults, would have either thousands of stray cats or pet cats,
Pets did have an affect on the wasteland, Emperor scorpions are the descendants of pet scorpions,
I'd also wager that all the cats in fallout 4 are grey, which could be evidence of a limited gene pool in a vault, or an adaptation to the environment

Dog meat was supposedly confirmed to be FO3 dogmeat’s child cause of the puppy perk.
@@zerotodona1495No he wasn’t.

3:48 "There are literally zero, not even one cat in any other fallout games or spin offs"
*Me a fallout shelter player:*
What about the pre war ghouls in fallout 3 and fallout 4 that were never exposed to fev
Radioactive tree sap? Does he say that? Never new that..
FEV has nothing to do with ghouls, and Harold is a mutant who was only splashed with FEV and not dunked like other mutants.

Well, the thumb to check the size of the cloud proved to be accurate lore after all.

Vault tec cucked me lol

My theory about the cats is that they simply only went extinct in certain parts of the world. It's evident that certain parts of the world would be less hospitable for cats to live in such as the heavily irradiated wastes of the Pitt and capital wasteland or the water dry regions of the west coast. West Virginia, being relatively free of radiation makes it ideal for cats to live in. As for the commonwealth, the theory of a cat vault or institute synths being released are all equally possible

Yep, thought so, too. ❤
I have another theory about the Institute I havent seen talked about enough: The Institute created armies of Super-Mutants and released them to the Surface World for the express purpose of keeping the Surface population down. This is why they kept maintaining FEV Research for decades with Brian Virgil kept in the dark about the ultimate goal of the project, they knew his morally-inclined mindset wouldnt approve of the FEV Project's goal so they kept it a secret from him.
but weren't supermutants already a thing prewar?

In the Fallout TV show they said the thumbs up was to check radiation zone…
This video is a year old. They added it to canon
Found your channel from the elder scrolls iceberg, just watched this one and the cyberpunk icebergs as well. Fantastic work on pullin out different conspiracies and bits of lore. I’d love more icebergs on games
Thanks so much for the support! I have a Minecraft one coming this week which should be interesting since it’s my first non rpg one. Want to do like dragon age Witcher etc in the future as well
@@FranklyGaming oh hell yeah I’ll definitely be checking those out!
Damn, as someone who loves the Fallout games but hates The Elder Scrolls games that first sentence really hurt lol
Haha don’t worry I really love fallout too maybe even more lol, thanks so much for watching by the way!
You can just say weirdo
@@googul2923 facts lol
Just a little note on the dogmeat thing. He's so well trained because he belongs to Preston Garvey's crew. They are litterally the ones that tell you dogmeat's name
No it’s because the character dogmeat is a reference to the dog in “ a boy and his dog”
I was under the impression it's the son of dogmeat from fallout 3
the three dog theory actually can occur. if he's killed when you first meet him and the chick who replaces him doesn't spawn properly the numbers station messages will occur
The main underlying theme in the Fallout (and Elder Scrolls) misteries is Lovecraft, the way they construct the story, based on real events and things, the way every story has lose ends and unexplained elements, the Deep ones, a lot of things fell into place after reading Lovecraft.
“Fallout, the Little broth of Elder Scrolls”
Imagine being this smooth brained
Saying cats are the “objectively worse version of a dog” is so dumb lmao. You clearly know nothing about cats… like at all
Graham not like this LOL
@@XLegiitBadassX everything is gonna be ok buddy
@@FranklyGaming Im not a fan of you saying that either tbf and i feel like alot of fallout fans wont be, its more like the adopted brother of elder scrolls at best. Its hard to take someone seriously when they start their video with a completely uninformed statement. Its like me doing a video on Doom and saying "Doom, one of Bethesda's youngest children" even though the original doom literally formed the first person shooter genre as we know it. While i mean no disrespect, It was a dumb thing to say.
@@FranklyGaming Great video tho, it was just a super cringe statement to start off with if im being entirely honest.
Just found ur videos yesterday and was amazed by the quality of the content for a low sub count. Fantastic videos and was glad to see an upload so soon after finding ur videos
Thanks so much for the kind words and support has been crazy to see all the support lately
Dude, I swear, during my 7 completed times of Fallout 2, I never encountered the ghost farm random location. I only saw it here, in your video and it looked fucking amazing with all its atmosphere.
Ya one of the coolest locations in all the games, thanks so much for taking the time to watch and support my content!
So you never went to Vault City from the Den, even though that's where all the breadcrumbs lead? Modoc and the farm are right in the middle of that path.
You never did the Modoc quests? Did you also miss out on the joy of getting shotgun married and having the most worthless companion in the game? You can't even tell them to wait, they can only use a knife, and don't level up. There are 3 ways to ditch them, all kinda evil and you have a status change in your CHAR sheet.
@@lDanielHolm I was a kid with low attention span, maybe missed because of this!
I suppose if you're just wandering randomly, it's understandable...
Lol well that first busted myth didn't age well did it?
lol
Great video, loved it. :)
FIY: Number stations are very much still going around and impossible to decrypt by anyone except the recipient.
Oh, and my cat is not happy with you.. 😄
Thank you!
The lore and theories in bethesda games are very extensive, you could make a whole playlist on just one game! Anyway, I enjoyed this one, keep up the good work👍
Thanks so much for watching mo, and ya for sure will do some more deep dive videos too
Holy shit I have been searching for a channel just like yours. You put so much time and effort into your videos. Please make more iceberg videos
Thanks so much for the kind words! I am got s Minecraft one coming this week!
Glad someone else saw a boy and his dog! It’s clearly an homage
I've got a theory linking Fallout and Outer Worlds:
It's ghouls I tell ya.
I'd take this with a side of chilli fries
Thanks for the video! I watch stuff like this as I wind down to sleep and I appreciate that you keep the volume steady and don't include random sound bytes that would otherwise jolt me as I listen.
Thanks again!
