  • Have you ever wondered what the insides of your instrument cluster looks like?
    Here's a teardown of the Audi TT Mk2's instrument cluster. They range from 2006-2014 where they started off as a red LCD FIS screen which then later upgraded the range to the white LCD screen and backlights.
    You will understand how to open a cluster and i detail some of the main components.
    This is going to be a prep for the colourMFA install which i hope i will be able to have 100% up and running soon.

    Hi Ian, thanks for sharing your knowledge - your videos have been very helpful.
    The fuel gauge on my 8J TT cluster doesn't show any level and it seems like the cluster is faulty. I've been quoted $4295 by the dealer in Adelaide for a new cluster - that's WITHOUT fitting(!) - just wondering if it's possible to swap the IMMO chip from my old red cluster into a second hand face-lifted cluster and code that or am I wishing impossible things?

    Hi Ian thanks for this inspiring video. I only wanna change a 2009 cluster in Km/h to my 2009 TT which got cluster in mile/h. Can I simply connect the new whole cluster mid part with the back part holding all electronics and car specific information without any coding. Might be great 😀 Thanks in advance for your answer….

      No it won’t work this way. You will need to get the km’s/h cluster and match this immo etc. (or immo off) to your car.

    Following this series with great interest. Are all the ColorMFA kits the same? I mean, mk2 is not listed as available. Do they ask you which model make is yours when ordering? if so, what model should mk2 owners order? TIA!!

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're not all the same but i would probably wait until there is official support and install guide is released.
      It's not a simple process to install colourMFA.

    Have you ever encountered an issue where the steering assist light is constantly on but very faint? I have seen n forums it’s a fault with the cluster

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have read about this issue but have not experienced it myself.
      I would probably get in there and clean the contacts in the blue plug as a starter.

    Semi related, how hard would it be to swap the visual plates? I have a North America TT RS, and our cars on the fuel and coolant temperature portion just use some generic hot and cold lines. I like the EU style that has numerals on the gauge face. Would that be a hard swap if I bought an EU cluster, and opened it up to pull the gauge face out?

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that’s weird. Mind PM me in Facebook your style of foils??
      It would be as “simple” as swapping that top bit. The ColourMFA install guide pt2 will show what I mean.
      Those two gauges are on one piece separate to the tachometer and speedo. You would just need to remove the needles and replace....And hope you don’t bust the needle motor in the process 😬

      Did you have any success on swapping the faces? I'd like to swap mine for the TTS white Needles. I have a 8J 3.2 Quattro, it's a 2008. Im curios if I can just swap the faces without having to copy the Immo
