I have a really soft plexiglass screen on a car that is just under 4K miles old and it's got some visible scratches (doesn't help that the cluster is aimed at the windscreen) Plast-RX is too harsh in this instance (believe it or not!) But I have found a follow up with Autoglym Super Resin Polish works wonders. My only issue is buffing it off, damp or not, it still scratches!

That sounds like a nightmare! It’s good to know that the Autoglym polish also works well! 😀 It’s infuriating that the plastic screen is always so fragile!

This fixed my Honda CRV instrument cluster a year ago, and just fixed my PSP srceen as well! I did exactly what you said, going to town on the scratches, and it looks much better than it did earlier, for sure!! Definitely going to throw a screen protector for that one, after fixing especially that super deep scratch that is harder to see now! Thank you!

Tried this and it worked well. After finishing, I blew the shield down with a heat gun and it seemed to improve even more made it shinier and more durable. Be careful not to overheat and keep your gun moving at all times.

I was bricking it before starting this on my Nissan Leaf but your video gave me the confidence. It works a treat though and all surface scratches gone. I did it the same as I would on the paintwork. Medium pressure, keep the cloth moving and keep it wet with product. I’d do about 30sec polishing then wipe with a damp then dry cloth. I just kept repeating until all the scratches were gone. Instrument cluster almost like new again.
Your awesome, great video. I traded in a car with bad cluster scratches and dealer wanted to give me 500 less after doing this method and bring it back to the dealer he was shocked to see the scratches gone even thought I replaced it. Thank you

I drive a Kenworth t680. I used to have a 2023, brand new, no previous user, but I had to give it up when I went in for hip replacement surgery 3 months ago. When I came back to work, all the company had available was a 2021 Kenworth. The dash looked like someone cleaned it with sandpaper. I tried this routine and it worked perfectly. Lo9ks like a new dash/bezel. The only correction I suggest is for the final cleaning with the PlastRx, let it dry, and wipe off the film with a dry microfiber cloth. It shines! Thanks for the video.
I think it needs a final polish with something less aggressive. Whereas you got rid of the deep scratches, the entire panel now has a dull haze.

Ok, so I bought this product a week ago to try out on my new to me 2018 that had a scratch the runs down the center of the gauge cluster plastic. Very annoying, not a deal-breaker on the car but def annoying. Thank you for encouraging me to put more time into working this product into my gauge cluster. The scratch is almost completely gone after an hour of working it in.

wow! my 3 weeks old Nissan Qashqai's instrument cluster is damaged to hell when I wiped it off using an old but unused microfiber cloth. I am hesitant to use PlastX since I read some negative comments about the product. I am about to get a new lens for my cluster now, good thing I watched this video. I subscribed to your channel.
Cluster lens replacement is definitely the solution but involves removal of a lot of dash trims., at least on the Civic. It can be done by the showroom guys but I fear they'll damage other joints and introduces rattles in the car. What a pain these cluster lenses are

A soft buffing pad on a portable drill would save the wrist.. just don't get the plastic to hot and don't sit in one place to long.. if your drill does not have the room in the car instrument cluster area use an extension poking through the steering wheel.

Great video. But I think you should make a final round with a finish polish like the Menzerna 3000.
I guess the plast x is pretty much like an heavy cut polish. It cuts the big scratches but left the surface hazy. Adding a final step with a less aggressive polish would be perfect. On some car I guess you can add a liquid wax to add UV light protection and avoid future haziness.
Going to try this on my radio display which came out of a wreck. It's raining out so I should be good to go. Next video you can show how to put the steering wheel on the right side, err left side, of the car LOL

Every time I try this, I think it looks great and then the sun hits it and I see hundreds of scratches.
Great video! But you can achieve the same results with half the effort by installing a Screen ProTech kit over them! Bonus, the kit will prevent future damage as well 😉
I've tried this and even though some scratches seem to have been removed, the rest of the plastic is now very hazy and when looking from an angle it's not even transparent anymore... when in driver position it's still alright, but from the passenger side you literally cannot see through it anymore. I have a Honda Civic Type R 2010 and this also seems to have stripped the violet colouring the plastic screen used to have...
Edit: Yep, actually it seems that all 8th gen Honda Civics have that blue tint from the factory, and it gets scratched very easily; when using things like PlastrX you remove the blue tint but also remove the scratches.
Is there a coating out there that would prevent micro scratches from happening in the first place?
Great video! Just one question: at the end this seems to leave some ghosting, is that due to the fact that some of the polish still remains on the dash? Can this be wiped off?
Same. I got novus plastic polish # 1 and gave it a few wipes and removed the residues with another clean cloth as instructed. Ghosting minimised to a near zero. Ghosting was pretty bad tbh
Thanks for this, I've a 2020 3 series , bought some Quixx acrylic cleaner. It says do not use on polycarbonate. Is the cluster acrylic. Even BMW HQ dont seem to know?

Excellent result, but I wonder if you had used IPA 99% as the final step it would have removed any oily residue of the Meguiars that I can detect as smearing in your before and after shots.

I think that you can use Meguiar's Plastic RX only on transparent,not painted plastics. Therefore the cream is not suitable for most of interior car plastics.
Hi Sam, great video, recently I somehow managed to get 2 small drops of alcohol hand gel on my instrument panel in my Honda CRV, I didn't notice at the time, consequently when I did notice it I had 2 slightly melted circles on my instrument panel, so not scratches as such, do you think this method would work?
Hi! Thanks Alan! 😄 I think it’ll depend on how deep the melted circles are, if they’re not deeper than the scratches in this video then this method should work (although it will probably require a bit more labour because of the larger surface area of a melted circle compared to a scratch)!
I took mine out and replaced it with glass that won't scratch. A lot easier than polishing plastic. You can have it made if you're gonna go that far. You can have it made.😮😊
probably gonna get no response but how would i fix the plastic/glass if its cracked, no scratched.. mine started to crack from the heat where i live

I also have some scratches on the gauge of my Vespa. Used a scratch and swirl remover so the scratch isn't super visible. There is a shadow though if light hits the scratched area. Will this remove this if ever? Planning to get one if it would.

My GTI has gloss black plastic trim everywhere in the interior. It all micro scratches. Do you think this would work on that material as well?
I think it’ll depend on the exact finish of the trim - I’d try it in a small area that you can’t see, and if it works then repeat everywhere!

Can anyone please confirm if *the "Mirror Glaze" line of polishing compounds (also made by Meguiar's) will achieve good/similar results?* I currently have three bottles, ranging from what they have named: "#2", "#3", & "#4" (#2 being the lightest cut, and #4 being the heaviest). I've constructed a test sample but results are promising but kind of inconclusive so far and I am reluctant to spend more time on this nonsense LOL...the bottles all say they work fine on plastics, however they are clearly an auto-paint maintenance line of products...any insight is welcome - THANKS!!!

How do you remove scratches from inside of car windows?
But now you have massive fine wipe marks that make it hard to see cluster in certain sunlight. I rather have a few small scratches than that..

Some people claim this would be a temporary fix for headlights and would have to keep getting done every year or so. Would this be a permanent fix for the instrument cluster since it won't be exposed to the sun's rays as much?

Hey ! Awesome video... would this work on the console trim types of plastic or is it only glass like materials ?
I used plastic polish on my piano black interior trim (center console area) that had swirls and scuffs all over. It worked really well but I don't want to do it ever again. Time consuming and hard to work around the surroundings. I believe there is a clear protectant coating over the black so it was like polishing a cars clear coat. Thinking of waxing it to prevent further scuffs. Serious PITA to be honest!
@@mygt8a4re did you use a DA polisher or all hand work done ? I tried a small amount of microfiber buff plus the Meguiars plastic polish and nothing worked on them scratches 😂
@@T163R I did it by hand using Meguiars scratchX 2.0 scratch remover. I believe it was designed for car paint as opposed to plastic. I had it in my car detailing bin for a couple yrs & never used it until recently on my interior. I'd say the results were 90% better. There are some deeper scratches left behind but there is so much glossy finish now that it's hardly noticeable. I'm guessing it's a bit more aggressive cut but still polished out without leaving haze.
@@mygt8a4re thank you ! I will get that product and try it out. I was using the PlastiX but seems like the product you used might do the trick. Thankfully I managed to figure out how to remove the console panel. These Lexus are not too complicated to assemble and disassemble. Thanks for the tip - will let you know the result.
@@T163R Removing the panel would have been a huge help. I cracked one of the side trim strips trying to remove it and just left it in. I'm curious to hear how it works out for you, best of luck to you!

Plast X or plast RX? This is really good? I have a similar problems in my bmw f20 LCI my19 after to use a microfiber to clean 😟
Both Plast X and plast RX should work - I believe they’re the same product just sold under different names! It completely removed my scratches, just have patience when polishing and they should come out no problem! 😄

If they’re on the inside of the gauge cluster I’d imagine you’d need to find a way to take it apart and access the other side of the plastic!

@@m-fee4359 you might be right i woke up this morning with water spot on my Guage Gloster from possible over spray from either the dash cleaner or windex cleaner problem i was so frustrated about the water spot that I took a 3000 grit sandpaper to remove the water spots now my Guage cluster has a dull haze over it and I might possible ruin my Guage cluster

Noooo do not use anything like this on the infotainment screens. They have a coating over them you do not want to remove
