      Is it possible to spread this without a polisher tool? Would one simply have to cope with their arm falling off at some point, or is the approach entirely useless if one doesn’t have a polisher?

    Awesome!! I have a new mustang Mach e and it has these piano black areas. Piano black looks sweet but it scratches SO easy. Plus there is a key pad and the button to open the door behind the pillar. So it is a super high touch area! I literally went to the garage and followed your tutorial and it fixed all the swarls it's amazing! Thank you! Now I just have to wait for the fresh ceramic coating to cure. Also I'm using Avalon King ceramic coating that I picked up after watching your channel. It's awesome. Hope that it helps reduce future scratching a bit. Thanks so much Pan!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FYI ceramic coatings don't prevent scratches. That's not what they're designed to do. Only PPF can protect the paint against scratches. Ceramic coatings are meant to add chemical resistance, UV protection, gloss, slickness, hydrophobics, long term durability and self-cleaning properties.

    Very useful video as always, Pan. These piano black panels are on so many cars, and most look awful after just a couple of years. Even with the safest of washing/drying methods, they still get beat up over time. My Challenger's trunk panel has this, and need to be sooo careful with it. I'll hit it with Novus #1 on occasion to give it a fighting chance.

      You can coat the trim at the same time as you’re coating the paint, assuming the specific coating you are using goes on paint and trim.

J'utilise la Dremel pour des pads ronds, coniques pour les calandres, les sigles de marque et modèle, car désigler est trop risqué. Le polish SONAX est TOP. Hey Pan, first off thank you for the awesome and informative content. Second off, before I found your channel recently, I foolishly used some new, unwashed and dry "polish/wax remover" towels after a wash to dry my brand new car that has no base ceramic/wax coat.
    I feel silly for this and I'm worried I may have scratched the paint. I basically let the towel "glide" over the body but noticed there was a lot of friction (duh) because there was no lubrication from a wax or coating. Am I blowing this out of proportion? Haven't had a chance to thoroughly inspect the paint yet but there aren't any swirls/scratches that have stuck out to me. Hoping this one improper dry job didn't hurt my new car too much during its first wash. 😬
    I've since taken your recommendation to buy some of the Gauntlet dry towels and taking your advice for my next wash.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are towel drying a vehicle, make sure to use a quality microfiber drying towel like in my drying towels video here: th-cam.com/video/079H_dpxlUo/w-d-xo.html
      And always use a drying aid when towel drying. It's like a detail spray and it will add lubrication to the surface and act as a buffer between the towel and the paint, so you don't scratch or mar the paint when hand drying. Here is a video I made on good drying aids: th-cam.com/video/NOTNed04xYE/w-d-xo.html
      Ideally though, you would protect your paint as quickly as possible by applying your choice of a wax, paint sealant or ceramic coating. It will not only protect your paint long term, but also increase gloss and slickness and make the vehicle easier to wash during your maintenance washes.

    I got some light scratches in the piano-black plastic on the drivers side B pilar on BMW 530i (G30) after opening the drivers door a little to much in the wrong place. after trying to search online for a solution and not finding anything useful, I gambled on using some Autoglym Super resin polish and a foam applicator and microfibre towel.. Didn't dare use a machine, but I managed to remove almost all the scratches/marks by hand.. But it sure would have been good to have had this video then..

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say without seeing the issue in person. Perhaps the scratches are too deep and you reached the primer. If that's the case, there's nothing that can be done other than have the pillars repainted.

    Thank You Pan. Santa is bringing me some detailing goodies so I am excited. Lol, it's mostly re-stock as my son and I are low on our favorites. Every time I walk up to one of our cars that has this type of trim in similar condition I say to myself, '"Man I need to fix that". With my wife being in the Industry, I'm thinking I will correct them and have her guy put PPF over them. Need her to ask the question will the PPF interfere with the touch lock (Keyless) (which we don't use) on the one car that has it.

    Good advice to let the pad and the compound do the work, especially on plastics, so as not to overheat the application.

  • @steveo2269
    @steveo2269 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great demo, is there any point in using a more aggressive pad and/or polish? Or would this just be overkill on the black plastics like this? Tried with an all in one combo polish/compound product and still had some swirls left at the end.. take it I just need to step it down to a lighter pad and finishing polish? Thanks.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It always depends on your level of defects removal desires, and condition of the trim... Always use the less aggressive method to achieve the desired results, all while keeping in mind you don't want to overpolish and run the risk of removing all the clear coat. Clear coat preservation is important, as you want it to last for years.
      We don't usually aim 100% paint correction or perfection on daily driven vehicles. You'd be removing too much material. 85-90% is the sweet spot. If you can't see the scratches from a few feet away, it's more than enough. Nobody in the real world goes up to a vehicle with a bright inspection light and fine tooth comb. Question of common sense.

      There shouldn't be any issues with polishing your pillars with built-in keypads, as there is still that outer layer that can be corrected. And start with a light polish (perhaps no need for a compound) and don't be overly aggressive with the level of polishing. But like anything, perhaps try on an inconspicuous area first, or not the main driver side door first hehe.

    Mr. Pan, around December, I'm going to be buying one of the mini polishers you mentioned in the affordable polishers video to perform this job. Given your experience, do you think a compound would be too aggressive? I know you said it's a softer surface...

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Always start with the less aggressive method first: the polish. That should be more than enough. If that doesn't do it, then yes you can move to a compound, and finish with a polish.
