xpFluidFLIP - Sneak Peek

  • The xpDomain has been re-written from the ground up and is now the all-new, xpFluidFLIP
Calculations are faster, simulations more realistic, and there is a choice of FLIP and APIC fluid solvers.
APIC simulations better maintain the angular velocity of fluid, and produce more energetic, yet highly stable simulations.
An accurate new collisions system handles static, translating, and rotating objects with ease.
New simulation settings give more artistic control over each solve.
Enhance your xpFluidFLIP simulation using X-Particles modifiers and other dynamic objects, like xpFoam.

So at this point, you get C4D just for X particles! You guys are killing it with these updates.

Amazing you guys! I hope the next version comes out before the end of july so I have it in my maintenance agreement. But who am I kidding I'm going to upgrade that for another year anyway. Best Plugin for cinema 4d.

Yeah XParticles should either have a GPU mode or C4D should have a mode to run Xparticle calculations CONCURRENTLY with GPU rendering like Redshift. Right now (as of R21+Redshift 3), each frame, first CPU is used for Xparticles calculation while Redshift/GPU is sitting idle, and while Redshift is running CPU/XP is sitting idle.

I had to get a Houdini artist to make a fluid sim because splashes in Xp were not cutting it. I'm glad to see this update.

hmm.. this updates kicks xparticles fluids much closer to phoenixFD.. but it’s still more on the products level like FX for movie production. Anyway with this abilities, would be great to make a training for some fill glass of beer with foam :)

Hey Insydium, is there a way to get the old xpDomain behavior? All my scenes which were set up with the old solver look totally different with the new xpFluiFLIP, even with Type set to Flip. Can't get a even close look with this new one, especially regarding those "mushrooms-like", well defined looks, so easy to achieve with the old solver. Any tips?

okay, so I am learning X-P right now and I am a bit confused about when to use which object. There is FluidPDB, Fluid FX and then there is Fluid Flip. If someone likes to share some wisdom with me, I would be very grateful. EDIT: in case someone is wondering, of course I am not the only one with that question, so Insydium did an info-page: insydium.ltd/products/x-particles/fluids-and-grains/ - but I am still open for insights!

Looks amazing I agree, great work Insydium team!
For the shot at 4:33 which Bob mentions took 12 mins to cache I’m curious what were the hardware specs?
My cache times for dynamic object scenes (fluidfx or explosiafx for example) always seem to take much longer to cache, hours as opposed the minutes that Bob’s examples usually take, and then even when cached these scenes are really sluggish to play back despite using a reasonably high spec pc.
Just wondering if this problem sounds familiar to anyone else? Thanks

For sims, I also usually see hours for caching scenes instead of minutes. However, it seems to me that many of the scenes in the Insydium demo and tutorial videos are relatively now rez, i.e. 5-digit particles numbers as opposed to hundreds of thousands or millions of particles. I'm pretty sure that the beach scene with the breaking waves did not cache in 12 minutes... ;-)

Bob, how can I get my hands on the project file for the first "beach scene"? I'm on my 8th attempt to try and do something like it and I'm not even in the ballpark with the water sim. Mine is like a toddler splashing around in a panic, versus gentle lapping waves. Can I get this project somewhere? Or some tips for God's sake?

Hi, We don't have a roadmap as such, but we are aiming to bring GPU acceleration into X-Particles in 2021. To answer your buoyancy question, this can be achieved with xpDynamics.
