      Could never get into the look of the rear wide until 2013+ or whenever they had their redesign. Love the front side though. Gonna try to keep my 2001 Accord running before I get a newer one.

    I got a 2012 Honda Accord LX and it's about the same as this model. Basically my first car and I love it. Been a good reliable car to me. There is a secret to the key fob. Press the unlock button once and then again on the hold and all the windows roll down and moonroof at the same time

    I actually had a 2009 LX-P Automatic as my first car.
    Loved it as a first car and would definitely recommend it for the average person.
    If I had a Manual transmission or the V6... Or both... I would've kept it.
    Regardless, great car. Miss it every now and then.

      Shame you couldn't get the V6 and manual with the sedan...except for the 7.5 gen (2006-2007). I have one and I spent years trying to get my hands on 1. Tried to buy 3 before my 06, but they got scooped up.

    It's all the car most people need. It's simple, reliable, and efficient. It still looks decent today, the design has aged well. It's got just enough angularity to still look fresh. It's cool that the original owner specced a manual, manuals were getting rare back then. Honda kept manuals in the Accord longer than any of their competitors.
    My first car was a manual. It was fun to flex in the high school parking lot and it was also just fun to drive. It had a light but long travel hydraulic clutch so it was easy to feather. The gearshift was long but also light so I always knew when it was going into gear. Shifting took a while but it wasn't a fast car anyway. I was never temped but it's hard to use your phone and drive a manual car.

    This is THE car I want to drive. I have a manual Prelude for weekend drives, but it's so much fun that I kind of daily it over my auto Civic. So now, for a reliable daily, I really want an 8th gen manual Accord sedan. Specifically the sedan because I want it to be useful, too. It's been well known for decades that Honda makes some of the best manual transmissions on the planet. Not only do they feel good to shift, but they just go forever. That Prelude has over a quarter million miles on it, and it's still chugging along.

  • @thevacdude

    Love these 8th gen Accord's, a lot.
    In fact, I like them to the 5th gen Camry's.

    The only thing to look out for in these cars are the vtec solenoid leaking and the key fob. The screws go missing alot and if not they are cheaply made so even with the screw the plastic breaks and tears apart

    I've driven both engines (although the J30 V6 was an 07). The I4 motor is fine and fun in it's own right, it's a K series motor after all. I wouldn't spend the premium on the V6 motor unless the chassis and running gear are in great condition. That should be the biggest priority for an Accord buyer. The V6 is faster and has far more low end torque, but in my experience with the motors the clutch always felt far more responsive in the I4 vehicle.

    • @applepoop10
      @applepoop10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Big problem with the V6's is that they don't have much aftermarket support and the VTEC system only on the intake camshaft. Its designed for economy in mind. I had a J30 accord in the past and it was okay, just not particular fast. If you want a fast J35 Honda, get an Acura TL Type-S

    A lot of people don't know this, but when this car came out it was criticized for being too ugly, big, and heavy. They cheapened out compared to the refreshed version of the 7th generation Accord. A time during the 2008 economic crisis where it showed. A time where Hyundai Sonatas were gaining in popularity because it arguably looked better (as a sedan) and offered better standard features. In my opinion, where this generation succeeded was its typical reliability. This was towards the end of the K24 era where Honda fixed the transmission issues that plagued it two generations before it and before they went to a more complicated direct injection a generation later.

    I’m thinking about buying a automatic with the mileage of 158,607. Is that good or is it too high mileage for this year car? Also, is the engine good on this type model and is there a lot of oil leaks? I heard it happens with a lot of Honda Accord‘s but I wasn’t for sure about this model.

      Nope, you can get the manual with the sedan, but only on the 4 cylinder for all but the facelifted 7th gen (2006 and 2007). I have an 06 that's a manual V6 sedan (in my opinion, the best one. I know the 10th gen 2.0s are faster, but it's not the same. Plus they're not as simple or durable).

    • @SkylineFTW97
      @SkylineFTW97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It was available until 2019 actually. The coupe was discontinued along with the 9th gen after the 2017 model year. What you're probably thinking of is getting a sedan with both the manual and the V6, which they only offered for 2 years, 2006 and 2007. And those are extremely rare. I own an 06 in that spec and I've only ever seen a total of 3 of them (including mine). The 4 cylinder manuals are fairly common, I've seen tons of those and owned a few including 2 2013s (1 silver LX and 1 black Sport, both sedans)

    Funny enough, my first new car was the 10 EX AT sedan and had own it for 3 years. Reliable as I had driven from Montana to California and vice versa without problem but don't really miss it. MPG is 21-31. Not ideal in 2022. Big fuel tank btw which is decent I guess.
