10 years later I'm still driving my dad's 2010 v6 accord (it's mine now). I really do love that car, and anytime we've let other people drive it, they've always commented on how good the pickup is. It's been such a great car, still running like a dream, and still looking damn good for 10 years old!

Honestly I can’t say I’ve had a lot of trouble at all with this car. Honda gets an A+ for dependability.

My wife's '09 Accord has the 190 HP 4 cyl and it's decent with the 5 speed manual. Only time I notice a big difference is if we're running the air conditioning--that sucks up some of the power, but she rarely uses the a/c anyway. For us, the 4 cyl is fine.
For cars that offer I-4 and V6, most studies have shown the 4 to be more reliable, and they are less expensive to maintain and repair. So trying to paint the 4 as having to work harder and therefore be less reliable doesn't hold water in the real world. With the 4, you get lower initial cost, greater fuel economy, lower repair & maintenance cost, and slightly better long-term reliability. With the 6, you get better performance and less noise. Those are the real pros and cons to consider.
combined, it's only a 2-3 mpg difference...having gone from a 4 cyl to a 6 cyl...I actually fill up LESS times with the V6 than I did with the I4....the only advantage the I4 has over the V6 is the timing chain vs. timing belt

I also failed to mention the dual exhaust, the hood struts and heat reasonator shield on the V6 vs. the 4 in the video. I was waiting for someone to point that out as well. At 100,000 miles the V6 needs a timing belt, waterpump, idlers etc. which is about $1000. It is an interference engine so if the belt breaks, you've got a 300lb pile of scrap. And while you do this maintenance, you will be told to replace the serpentine, plugs, coolant etc. The 4 has a timing chain...
cbsctomh My Accord got 112,000 miles haven’t done any of that, and it runs like a champ... The only thing I’ve to it is tranny flush, radiator flush, spark plugs, at 110,000... with the typical synthetic oil change every 3,000 miles...
Hey Hey the timing belt has nothing to do with how the engine runs but if you didn't change the timing belt yet at over A hundred thousand miles, you better do it ASAP

If is a Time chain than don't even need to change for entire life of vehicle . 4-cylinder is very under-powered. Considered looking at Honda Ridgeline, Tacoma or 4runner. They will hold resale value astronomically well
I have a Honda Accord Coupe V6 and I love it. Is silky smooth and super quiet. My first V6 car, and don't think I will go back to having a 4 cylinder for a while.

Wonder what they are saying now after finding out how disastrous the vcm on the v6 turned out to be. I've got a 2010 Accord v6 that now has the vcm disabled and I'm happy as can be. Too bad it took two spark plug misfires for me to discover the vcm muzzler2. And they still use this system on popular models such as the Odyssey and Ridgeline. Don't get it.
the 8th generation accord is a fantastic car. this is top tier honda, and probably peak accord if you ask me. the v6 is quicker and smoother, but the 4 cylinder is the best 4 cylinder honda ever made (generally considered the best 4 cylinder engine ever made) and paired with either transmission will last forever as long as you change the oil on time and get the valves adjusted properly.
Unfortunately, this generation Accord's v6 engine (which is a non-vtec VCM engine) is heavily disliked in the Honda Accord enthusiast community. For good reasons. The eco feature makes sense for fuel conservation, BUT at severe drawbacks. The constant usage wears down the vehicle-like the spark plugs. The engine also consumes a ton of motor oil. Not to mention the vehicle takes forever to utilize the v6 motor for when power is needed but the vehicle is in eco mode. This is why most owners have installed a VCM delete, which bypasses the eco mode altogether. Source: I'm a 2010 Accord owner.
I just got an 08' accord v6 6 speed manual. The stick shift v6 has the SOHC J35z3, no variable cylinder management.... whereas the automatic has the J35z2 which DOES have VCM (hence the better mpg versus the manual v6). I've heard that the VCM in the automatic is troublesome for premature wear etc. , so I'm happy that I went with the non-VCM version, but are there issues with this motor aside from the VCM?? Like is there anything I need to worry about even though my car does not have the motor with VCM?
Just got 2012 Accord EX-L v6 and it has that eco engine and I'm definitely going to delete it. Other than that I love that car. So much take off and mine is automatic 🙂 went from 4 cylinder Accord to v6 Accord and I'm in love it's vtec and vcm
@aqwayne i agree with you! i have a 09 v6 accord myself, and you are absolutely right! my 02 Honda crv is a 4 cyl. and 1st is short and quick. that's what the v6 accord need, but top end is grate.
@giannial1985 I also have noticed the 4 cylinder Accord shakes the steering a bit at idle, it is a bit strange but you can't deny how smooth and sweet sounding they are above 5,000 rpms. I believe Honda just tries to make the 4 cylinder feel a bit more sporty and connected to the road while the V6 is more refined and isolated. But Honda has always made the V6 have struts while the 4 has the rod, idk its not a big deal for me both do the job of holding the hood up just fine.
Im about to buy V6 coupe with 180k mileage. How long do you think guys will that car last? (jil change every 4k, proper maintenance, belt changes at 140 last time) I will use it as a day to day car. Rarely will accelerate.
The LX Sedan has 177 HP, while the EX and EX-L 4 Cyl. have 190 HP. Doesn't make THAT much of a difference, though. The coupe comes standard with the 190 HP 4 cyl.
you're comparing two different types of cars...but having been someone who wanted a 2012 Subaru WRX Sti...I have no buyers remorse...the STI felt cramped, and unrefined...and as much as I love the STI....the Accord is more practical for say family or long trips...don't get me wrong...the STI was fun to drive...but I can't imagine taking long road trips without punishing my back

Cavity the man clearly stated if your carrying more weight around such as cargo and people the 4 has to work harder than the 6. It makes sense since when I carry more people in my 4 cylinder it seems to run a bit slower. Most of the time its just me driving so I don't care for the 6. I'm not racing anybody.

my dad got a 2010 i4 sedan. wish he got the v6 cause i'd like the power but he only cares bout fuel saving. the 4cyl feels like it has surprisingly good performance that you don't really need more. it's a good car but the rear visibility is horrible, trunk is oddly shaped and the center stack console is lame. safety features are real good too.
NEVER buy a 2010 Honda Accord with the V-6 engine. My brother's wife and my co-worker each bought one when they were only 5 years old with 60,000 miles. About every 30,000 miles the spark plug fouls out and many times it's when it's -40 out and she's 200 miles from home. So she is changing the spark plug in the cold and now the catalytic converter is plugging from the oil that get's past the piston rings. The dealership said that is a problem with that model of V-6 engines is they have defective piston rings. They said it is a very expensive repair and usually is not worth the money to fix. My brother's wife said this is the worst car she has ever owned. To bad she paid $13,000 for it in 2015...

i mean its not a nascar car lol nor is it supposed to be. its a ~3500lb mid-sized family sedan. so unless you're single with no kids and plan on doing nothing but 0-60 runs and illegal street racing every day, the 4cyl is a great choice. and its fairly decent in performance for what it is.
Yeah I actually have the 4 cylinder. This guy is very supportive of the V6 and saying nothing good about the 4. He just loves the V6 and his tone seems to imply that the 4 cylinder is a bad choice.
Reviewer obviously biased for the v6. Heck, I own a 2014 Lexus GS350 F and my wife owns a white Honda Accord Coupe EX-L. I tend to drive her car more because it just feels great to drive a i4 around the area and just save gas (the white coupe looks neat too, 2014 model). These days, the 4cyl engine has improved dramatically. If you really want a V6, I would just simply go for a V6 that is built for performance only (GTR, Corvette, etc).

Yeah it definitely sucks the low end torque. But the engine is still strong enough

There are no DOHC J series engines like he said in video. The only V6 Honda ever made with DOHC heads was the C30/C32 in the NSX

I've got the 2.4l PZEV ad it doesn't use a drop of oil. It does have the accord starter issue. It's been grinding on cold startup for over a year.
Everytime i do an oil change on mine its consumes about a quart or quart and a half

I don't think it will the 190 hp EX with 5 spd auto takes 8.6 secs to hit 60, the stick will probably shave off half a sec soo 8.1, the V6 takes just 7.1

i mean its not a nascar car lol nor is it supposed to be. its a ~3500lb mid-sized family sedan. so unless you're single with no kids and plan on doing nothing but 0-60 runs and illegal street racing every day, the 4cyl is a great choice. and its fairly decent in performance for what it is.
Yeah I actually have the 4 cylinder. This guy is very supportive of the V6 and saying nothing good about the 4. He just loves the V6 and his tone seems to imply that the 4 cylinder is a bad choice.

Reviewer obviously biased for the v6. Heck, I own a 2014 Lexus GS350 F and my wife owns a white Honda Accord Coupe EX-L. I tend to drive her car more because it just feels great to drive a i4 around the area and just save gas (the white coupe looks neat too, 2014 model). These days, the 4cyl engine has improved dramatically. If you really want a V6, I would just simply go for a V6 that is built for performance only (GTR, Corvette, etc).
