I can't help but grin every time I see anything for this game. I had a buddy, Angus was his nickname, who played Ultra Marines and I played Tyranids in 40k. Managing the local gaming store, I was able to squeeze a game in from time to time and he and I used to have epic showdowns after hours drawing grinning onlookers in the process. He used to groan as I placed my army which I used to fill the ranks with termagants, outnumbering his army by a sickening amount. It didn't matter of course as by the end of the game he was usually standing victorious with his dreadnaught and remaining terminators still standing. We used to talk about how horrific a planetary invasion would be, how epic the battle by the marines resisting, and he would always quote "Aliens" by saying, "It won't make any difference." Angus was sadly and tragically murdered by his roommate. I left the store not long after to work in a nearby city but his army still hung in a case on the wall when I did. I can't wait to maul some 'nids while yelling "Ultra!" in his memory. ☺️

Sucks it's not there on launch but at least it will be free. The only DLC in this game that is paid for are cosmetics. All weapons, maps, enemies, and game modes are free updates.
@@carbagehealth I liked that he brought up that a worse set up with a 3080 somewhat performed well too... I mean yeah a 3080 is not top of the line but its far from a low or even mid tier card being more or less on par with a 4070. If I bought a 4070 today it would cost me about $700 and it is maybe good enough for the game? as the LOWER setup comparison? Yeah thats a bit out of touch on the technical aspect of the review!
@carbagehealth9634 yeah I saw that. The instant he talked about the performance I just paused the video leaved my comment and left. I then ended up on another channel with the person saying the game runs at 100-110 fps with a 3080 and a mid tier cpu with dlss quality, that's real information.
@@adrian1881mw3 Yea never was a bother for me (being aware it ain't that demanding) but if it's a recurring error might get it fix cus there's the credibility and integrity
While the performance on a 4090 won't be relevant for most people, it's a good way to see if any performance issues are due to poor optimization. Games like Escape from Tarkov still run like shit on high-end hardware.

I have to say, if there is one thing that I absolutely despise, is not being able to control who is jumping into my game. I usually only play with friends and hate pugs. Pugs usually will run off doing their own thing and not staying on track with what our group is doing and communicating. I really hope this gets patched.
I have a friend that I played the first game with years ago, and now we live 1,500 miles apart, but we're both hyped to be playing this. For the Emperor!

I'm watching the review because I want to hear about the game, and ACGs reviews are top tier, but i was already sold on space marine 2 when it was announced. Cannot wait until I get to play it finally.
very good review idk if you took my advice on anunciation of words and ideas, and pacing your speech to footage being shown in the video(i could tell because of the cuts in audio and video which is ok). but right off the bat, i could tell this was a very good and tailored review and is one of the many reasons why I'm subscribed, cant wait to see more quality content like this.
Reviewers that claim to not be biased, but then brag about being invited to play early, and have interviews with devs and voice talent etc. are so insincere. That is why i LOVE this channel. Thank you
@@thehawk420 Bias based on preference that he did a good job at establishing early on. Everyone has preferences, not everyone has been schmoozed by devs, that's my main point.
@@MarkoniusRexhe got schmoozed to just not as much he got an early copy like everyone else. Everyone else says it because otherwise people say their a shill so they acknowledge it rather then keep it hidden, I've seen plenty of reviewers get buttered up by dev teams and completely dumpster fire their games in the review.
@@buckheadblue4709 if you consider getting a review code as being schmoozed then idk if we will have enough common ground to argue on tbh. Can't trust any early review with that perspective. I do acknowledge some reviewers still dunk on a game made by devs that buttered them up, but they get to do that exactly ONCE per developer, if they are lucky
@markg4251 not really unless it's overwhelmingly harsh to the point that everyone else's reviews aren't as harsh then it doesn't really matter. Usually it's a separate team of people handling review codes that send the codes out to people who will help the games press, they aren't massive on reputation or previous history. Also the buttering up I said is the most that happens what you're on about is previews. They fly you out they pay for your hotel they let you interview devs and voice actors and let you play the game they don't do that for reviews, because people are busy and there will always be more people reviewing then who previewed the game.
Playing on the intended difficulty, I found myself having to constantly seek cover from the ranged tyrranids, because there is no reliable way to regain health during combat. That's exactly what a space marine should be doing, hiding behind a corner so he doesn't get hurt. Also, you get stunned over and over and over again, even the smallest little zerglings can stun you. Gimmie a break.
I had to adjust to this game just like I did with Doom and Bloodborne- Be as aggressive as possible. Just like Doom, you regain health and armor through your finishers/executions, and just like Bloodborne you have a small window to regain health lost from an attack. So being standoffish or playing defensively just gets you overwhelmed, lock stunned, and killed. Keep moving and attacking nonstop while looking around the screen waiting to see ranged or melee attacks coming in so you can dodge the range, keep attacking, and counter their melee, and then keep attacking. Take advantage of those stunned executions as soon as you can. Even if you don't get it in time for the damage return health, you will still get an armor bar back every single time. So hit those executions like your life depends on it (because it does), regain health and armor like a vampire, and keep doing that until you're just running around in puddles of blood. 🫡
Also, getting real comfortable with being low health or near death was an adjustment as well. In most games this is when we panic, retreat to safety, and heal up. But with Doom and Space Marine, this is when you frenzy and desperately seek an execution to keep you alive, and then another, and another; until you regain the upper hand or just make it out of the battle alive by the skin of your teeth. Which I feel is pretty befitting of both the Ultramarine and the Doom Guy from an immersion standpoint. A never retreat, fight to the death type of soldier where the defensive strategy is just more violence.
Tried it pretty solid 7.5/10 for me. Very optimised for my potato laptop… if only FF16 is as optimised as this game. I pushed score up to 8/10 for releasing it in non beta tester state, it’s really awesome to play even on low end pc/laptop. This is how modern game supposed to be on release date. Huge thumbs up. 🎉 Game developers should take note.
My concern with this is the cost vs play time. It’s an expensive game and the campaign is apparently only 5h long. Will I really repeat those operations for 30, 40, 50h to get my money’s worth?
@@Rich-in6ds I’ve heard most people say the campaign is 10. Not sure who said 5 - and the coop is ment to be replayed over and over to unlock and level up classes.
@fattony75 6 linear missions with no procedural generation or variety from run to run. Can’t see myself playing each more than a handful of times. Maybe 10-15h of content in those operations if we’re being generous. It needed like 12 missions or some kind of randomisation to keep each one fresh if it wanted to achieve high levels or replayability.
No stupid puzzles to ruin the mood, like in God of War. No tedious platforming to mess with the flow, like in Doom Eternal. 💢 In the 41st millennium, there is ONLY WAR! 😤
They have not released the full game yet and plus all there new missions and game modes are all going to be free. Like that's a no brainer when most games charge alot of money for expansion packs. I'm a no life this. Plus there's modifiers and operations mode. He'll most games would charge you for all the new armour and skins and customisation they currently have
@@menaceiwill1 What do you mean not full game? Reviewers got full game. We and they know everything about this game already, except pvp, which is never good in these types of games considering the nature of them. ~10 campaign + 6 missions is not a lot. Its extremely small content for 60€. Vermintide 2 launched with 13 missions and customization options. Darktide with 9. Both at 40€ at launch. Now, both COMBINED can be gotten for 26€ with x5 the content. As for no brainer part, how do you know more content (missions for example) will be free? How often? You dont know. We dont know. So thinking 60€ is worth it, because "well, we MIGHT get more free missions in future" is stupid. If in 1 year its true and we have 10+ more FREE (again, NOT paid ones) misions, than sure, 60€ could be worth it, yet still just barely. Only at 40€ this could be a good deal.
Rofl, @menaceiwill1 must love early access games, except that this isn't EA nor is it live-service per say. For most gamers a 6 hour campaign and six operations isn't worth $60 bucks. The stuff in the roadmap should've been at release. It's wild that companies can hold back on content and get people like you so excited with "future content coming soon for FREE." This is going to be a banger in a year when it's on sale and they get release the actual full game.
I was going to get this on release, when I saw all the crap they want you to buy like early release and season pass I decided to just wait until it’s on sale at Christmas

Gears 5 still looks insane I can only imagine what it’s gonna look like on pc
As much as I like Wukong I have to say playing SM2 has reminded me what fun video games are all about. I’m so sick of every game having a ridiculous difficulty. Sure there’s a sense of satisfaction when you beat it but the majority of the time I am not having fun, it feels more of a chore. I am really really enjoying this game.
Yeah...this game is basically classic Gears. Just a dude bro game. None of this for modern audience nonsense....and I love it.
My favorite reviwer launching a review about my most expected game
Enjoy man
I've never touched anything 40k (unless watching FlashGitz counts), but this game is great. Also runs great on my antiquated pc. Congrats Saber!
Flamer as a dlc weapon instead of a launch weapon just seems bizarre.
@@WarAuthority it's games workshop, it's probably gonna get much worse. You see what they did with Blood Bowl3
Sucks it's not there on launch but at least it will be free. The only DLC in this game that is paid for are cosmetics. All weapons, maps, enemies, and game modes are free updates.
You'll be lucky if anything non-primaris is even added, and bet your fucking ass it's gonna be a hefty premium.
@@Fuel6233 Well they said that only cosmetics will cost money

I like your channel and your approach to actively keeping your distance from being persuaded by game makers. New subscribe!
I mean, a 4090 and a 7800X3D will run everything smoothly, its literally the best gaming hardware currently, so that doesn't tell much
@@carbagehealth I liked that he brought up that a worse set up with a 3080 somewhat performed well too...
He just wants you to know it runs well on his computer. Who cares about the 90% rest of players that don't have a 4090.
While the performance on a 4090 won't be relevant for most people, it's a good way to see if any performance issues are due to poor optimization. Games like Escape from Tarkov still run like shit on high-end hardware.
Great honest review!! I really want this but 93.99 plus tax (CAD) is a bit steep for a base game might have to wait for a sale
I doubt you remember me Karak but I used to comment on and watch all your videos when you had less than 15k subs (if I remember then number correctly lol), for some reason YT stopped recommending your videos and I kinda just forgot over time, never unsubbed btw as far as I know, well suddenly I am getting recommended your stuff again and I said "omg that guy was like the best reviewer ever and forgot all about him" lol, Im so happy to see the channel has grown and I will be here watching again, I remember when you used to the Caffeinated reviews!
One thing I love about your reviews especially this one, is how exceptional your narration is. Really gets me even more hyped to play this one!

Looks like a great game even coming from someone who knows nothing of the series. Thanks for your time, ACG!
This game is badass. I’m glad we can still get awesome AAA shooters without all the added bs. Just an awesome straight forward campaign. ❤
I really need this game in my life. Big badass power armor slicing through enemies co-op. It's probably a Christmas purchase though..

Between this and Astrobot, my weekend is going to be completely booked. Thank you, Sir.
Thank you for your hard work ACG, your reviews are always the best 🙌🏼
I enjoy your direct no bs style of review. I appreciate the non watered down perspective.
I have to say, if there is one thing that I absolutely despise, is not being able to control who is jumping into my game. I usually only play with friends and hate pugs. Pugs usually will run off doing their own thing and not staying on track with what our group is doing and communicating. I really hope this gets patched.
If it’s a random that throws they should be banned for heresy .
At least from their roadmap that feature is coming in September still. Odd that it's missing, but better than nothing.
That's such a basic feature that should've been included from the get go.

I'm watching the review because I want to hear about the game, and ACGs reviews are top tier, but i was already sold on space marine 2 when it was announced. Cannot wait until I get to play it finally.
Now all I really need is a Sisters of Battle expansion.

very good review idk if you took my advice on anunciation of words and ideas, and pacing your speech to footage being shown in the video(i could tell because of the cuts in audio and video which is ok). but right off the bat, i could tell this was a very good and tailored review and is one of the many reasons why I'm subscribed, cant wait to see more quality content like this.

No please don’t make me buy this
@@jayreaper7486 oh your buying lol.
Even your wallet also agree 👍
@@Rich-in6dsThe original game was about that long so I don’t know what you expect.
No stupid puzzles to ruin the mood, like in God of War. No tedious platforming to mess with the flow, like in Doom Eternal. 💢
In the 41st millennium, there is ONLY WAR! 😤
But 6 coop missions and a 6 hour campaign? Sounds like a "get on sales" game for me.
Hell would froze before i pay 60 for a 6 hours game mate
@@menaceiwill1 Yeah, they haven't released the full game yet. Exactly why I'm not going to buy this on day-1.
Great review. I can't freaking wait to get my key today. Need to wait till after work to play though. It'll be well worth it.
I was going to get this on release, when I saw all the crap they want you to buy like early release and season pass I decided to just wait until it’s on sale at Christmas
@@Hydroah if the main campaign is good i don't really care to be honest. I know i'll get my moneys worth.
New missions will be free, only thing locked behind a paywall are cosmetics
The only "season pass" content is cosmetic stuff. You got it backwards, this is one of those rare games that will have all its single player story dlc and coop mission dlc completely free. You only need to spend more money if you want cosmetics
@@Hydroahonly cosmetic content is locked, nothing story related. All future story dlc both single player and coop will be available to everyone for no extra price. Do with that info as you will
