To get solo operations(at least this has been working for me) when you're in the launch bay click operations mode on the terminal but don't hit quick match or pick a mission and then back out of the menu. It will ask you if you accept switching modes click accept. Now you're in operation mode by yourself. From there select a mission and difficulty and assemble at the thunder hawk to launch. Change your class at the armoury to your preferred class before launching. Hope this helps.
You pretty much nailed my take on this game. A ton of fun, highly recommended, visually great. Needs better matchmaking, solo option (which I think they said is coming this month), needs more variety of missions, etc. They said new enemies are coming, not sure if that's just a new Tyranid or if they mean Orks or something. Overall love it.

Other than that the game is amazing.
i give this game a BROTHA/10 “Brothers i must go.” “We will miss you brother” “Brothers….you’d have restored my faith in Brotherhood.” Dawwwww. If the above seems corny this game manages to make it cool.
I know nothing about the lore aside from watching those awesome Astartes videos that one guy made a series out of, and this game is pretty fun. It's a good shootem up game that includes the slicing and dicing, which is pretty cool and what was missing from Helldivers. You take shots and when you get overrun you pull out the melee weapon and start leaving free alien meat pies everywhere around you for the locals. It also seems to have a decent armor system also. At first I was a little overwhelmed by the controls but it didn't take long to get the hang of it. I'm used to games where I can jump around and climb etc but I didn't really find it annoying I couldn't do that in this game cause it makes sense. You're a badass in a big heavy suit and all you need to worry about is walking the path and taking the lives.
Great video man, its good to see you branching out of your usual niche and covering a more genre of games hope ya keep it up if not whell ill still be here 😂
I just finding the operations fun, cant get tired of it. Also really enjoying the customization, me and my friends are going Blood Ravens to remind us of the RTS game
My biggest two issues have been the lack of replay-ability, because while there is some variance in the missions, they're still the same missions over and over, and there just isn't enough of them. The "between mission" should have been different. There should just be a lobby and in that lobby you can que up any mission you want. Play solo, group with friends, or que from that lobby, like in Helldivers for example. The story missions, once completed, should become accessible as selectable missions you can play with the progression system. I also had some performance issues where characters and enemy models would completely disappear and I'd be fighting invisible enemies with invisible allies, but my pc is at the low end so some performance issues are expected.
Those issues notes are the same on console for me. The matchmaking portion has a key symbol in the top right that you can apply a join code. That's the only way I've found to sort of control the party
I've been considering getting the game, but I think I'll wait a while. I was hoping there would be something like the operations mode, but it isn't what I was hoping for. What I was hoping to see was some sort of procedurally generated missions with endless replayability. I've been hoping to see a PVE extraction shooter come out. And when I saw this game, I thought about the replayable and customisable nature of the table top game, and hoped they would incorporate that in some form procedurally generated PVE and PVP modes. As great as the game looks, money is tight these days. So if they do release a procedurally generated PVE operations/extraction shooter style mode, then it'll be worth it for me.
I feel like making DLC cosmetic only and including gameplay updates for free was a very deliberate and well thought out choice. In older games like battlefield 4 and even Halo 3 to some extent, the multiple DLC map packs kind of fractured the player base and could make matchmaking a real problem sometimes. And those were wildly popular games with enormous player bases. I think for a game like this, it’s a better approach for the long term health of the game.
Awesome review, you did a great job! What I saw so far, the game doesn't cost it's money, specifically comparing to the similar games on the market. Just my opinion and my preferences😅
I like your reviews but I wish you gave more basic info. For Space Marine 2, do the campaign missions use checkpoints, or can you save? Is there a death penalty? How many players are on a team in the other modes? For PvP is there deathmatch or team deathmatch? These are things I’d like to know.
-Missions use checkpoints however you can load a autosave from your last checkpoint mid mission - Campaign and Operations are 3 player Co-op while the PVP is 6v6 -There is Team Deathmatch in PVP
That antenna part is when I realized how bad the bots really were. I ran out of ammo while the tryrannids were eating away at the antennas, and the bots were allllllllllll the way on the other side doing....like nothing lol. I had to quit at that point but I'm about to give it another go.
I feel like I'm the only guy who expected the focus to be on campaign. But there isn't a single shred of progression or customization. None. Maybe i just didn't do enough research beforehand but i can't help but feel mislead into buying a squad focused shooter when what was advertised was a bombastic, highly customizable and rewarding solo campaign.
Vermintide 2 and its chaos wastes rogue like mode are pretty similar to operations/pve but with a larger variety of maps and a bunch of random buffs. Best melee combat in any game I’ve played and you can do some ridiculous stuff (have a few videos on my profile of it). Definitely recommend checking it out if you enjoy that part of SM2
Yes that game came out a long time ago and many of the stuff that fans now love was added over time. Hopefully the devs stick with this one like they did the first game. The horde mode was fantastic.
Glad you had fun! I loved the original game, but I'll only ever play this one on solo mode. Do you feel there's enough content in that part to justify full price or should I wait for a sale? You've saved me a bunch of money in the past with your honesty, so I trust your opinion.
Eh well you have 6 campaign mission 6 operations mission (that you play over and over to level up) and there pvp mode with acouple of modes and no private lobbies yet
For playing solo, wonder if setting Steam to offline mode would work? Though I agree with you, there should be an in-game option to play without matchmaking.
Nice review. I'm still waiting for a patch or two before doing a proper playthrough from start to finish. What I wait for is a fix for cutscenes and the audio not matching properly. Pausing the cutscenes to wait for the game to load did not fix it for me thus I wait for a patch. Cutscenes during the missions and such work with no problems it's just the transistory cutscenes that go whack for me.
@@cirescythe If not that patch, then it'll be another. At least game runs pretty well for me unlike the early access of No Rest For the wicked which is unplayable for me since the ea launch.
Loved the campaign and the minimal threat difficulty. On average, the game begins feeling a lot less fun. You get significantly less ammo, enemies become bullet sponges and you heal for 50% less. On veteran and angel of death this problem becomes much bigger. An elite enemy takes around 20 headshots + some bullets to the body on most weapons and you are starved for ammo. You need to go around the same areas you've been hundreds of times to try and find some ammo.
I enjoyed playing it, the atmosphere of 40k is great, but the game isn't without its issues. I wish executions always healed, like they did in SM1. There is too much resource starving with not enough ammo and stim packs. I would also like to see classes receive some balancing, right now snipers are very strong in pvp and conversely, not very good in coop.
I really enjoyed the tyranids as enemies more than the second faction I dunno what it was about them but it just seemed to lose something when facing my them.
Me and a buddy have been playing this, operations can bit a bit unbalance because honestly there is one fun that’s just leaps and bounds better, the multi-melter. Thing just kills hordes like no one’s business, to the point where if your class can’t use it might as well be don’t use that class🤔

I played it on PS5, I got 1 crash after going back and forth through the menus like a spastic because I was too high and my hands aren't used to a Playstation controller Other than that, sometimes the graphics would bug during cutscenes and the game looked like Xbox circa 2006, which just honestly made it better So yeah 4/5 Would have liked more out of the campaign ending.

The story missions, once completed, should become accessible as selectable missions you can play with the progression system.
I also had some performance issues where characters and enemy models would completely disappear and I'd be fighting invisible enemies with invisible allies, but my pc is at the low end so some performance issues are expected.
I'm annoyed youtube isn't notifying me about your videos anymore. I clicked the bell!
This was great! Thank you.
I think you are a really good reviewer. I appreciate your take on things
Why am I even watching your "First Impressions" when the 100% video will be uploaded the next day? 🤣
Lmao, that shielded mini against the hammer is just hilarious.
after the third one I was like....I need to know how many hits this is gonna take. A heavy attack will sort it out immediately though.
Hopefully my library gets this game
I will say in terms of more content they will be adding new Operations/PVP maps and modes for free post launch
Awesome review, you did a great job!
What I saw so far, the game doesn't cost it's money, specifically comparing to the similar games on the market. Just my opinion and my preferences😅
The eyes of the Emperor are upon you, Brother Mortismal.
I like your reviews but I wish you gave more basic info. For Space Marine 2, do the campaign missions use checkpoints, or can you save? Is there a death penalty? How many players are on a team in the other modes? For PvP is there deathmatch or team deathmatch? These are things I’d like to know.
-Missions use checkpoints however you can load a autosave from your last checkpoint mid mission
- Campaign and Operations are 3 player Co-op while the PVP is 6v6
-There is Team Deathmatch in PVP
Would love to see you cover more games like this
Was not sure about the steamdeck, thanks for the update man, getting it right now!
That antenna part is when I realized how bad the bots really were. I ran out of ammo while the tryrannids were eating away at the antennas, and the bots were allllllllllll the way on the other side doing....like nothing lol. I had to quit at that point but I'm about to give it another go.
Worst section of the entire game tbh
Mortismal is beyond god gamer. Comprehensive review as always. Great job Mortismal👍
i bet most of the people watching this review
already own the game
They have announced private operation lobbies for the first patch.
Has anyone else gotten the bug where sometimes while I’m in melee the camera freaks out and spins around and shoots across the map or is that just me
Ahhh the only reviewer on TH-cam I believe. Let’s listen.
Damn, that was quick. 😂
Will buy later today, loved the first one and the bloodgod needs more blood
this plays really good and it feels like it should!
"They said brother too much"
HERETIC
Looks dope but I think I'll just wait for a sale or something to make the pricetag look more worth it
I really hope they patch in a button to play Operations solo with bots...That's nuts they try to force matchmaking and make it weird.
MAHRINES. WE ARE CLEAVING.
This game is a triumph. I’ve been playing 40K for 27 years and it’s everything I could want and more. It’s just time to unlock Dark Angels skins now….
This game is a love letter to 40k fans! And I love it!
There was a bigger update today😊 i think it adresses those issues.
@@cirescythe Oh. It's nice to know. I will check it out after going back from work.
@@chillax319hope it resolves your particular issues as well. Have fun.
@@cirescythe If not that patch, then it'll be another. At least game runs pretty well for me unlike the early access of No Rest For the wicked which is unplayable for me since the ea launch.
Make sure the game is installed to an SSD, my pal had a similar issue with the game installed to his HDD and switching to the SSD resolved all issues
Was wondering when you would done.
I'm glad you covered this. I was debating whether I should buy it for my brother and I.
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older but I found the controls so awkward 😂 had to abandon playing as I just couldn't do it!
Left-tenant is the correct warhammer british way to say lieutenant Titus
Looks like remnant from the ashes with a WH40K skin
I thought the new game modes would be available for those who bought standard too
I really enjoyed the tyranids as enemies more than the second faction I dunno what it was about them but it just seemed to lose something when facing my them.
Me and a buddy have been playing this, operations can bit a bit unbalance because honestly there is one fun that’s just leaps and bounds better, the multi-melter. Thing just kills hordes like no one’s business, to the point where if your class can’t use it might as well be don’t use that class🤔
Saying you trust Mort's review more than gaming journo xyz is like saying I trust an board certified 20 yr experienced orthopedic surgeons to fix my fracture over a MLM shilling health guru. Very very very few reviewers come close to Mort, well, maybe Mandalore, but you gotta wait for 2 years after the game had come out.
Yeah, they've supported World War Z long term. So I expect the same thing here.
And their swarm tech is so cool, I agree.
i downloaded this game yesterday didn’t played it yet.
but is playing on a steamdeck not almost playing with a controller ?
I was really hoping i could skip this game, as i have such a backlog... A few people were asking me to get it, but now, after watching my favorite reviewer gush over it, I'm having a hard time justifying skipping it.
Thanks Mort!
I played it on PS5, I got 1 crash after going back and forth through the menus like a spastic because I was too high and my hands aren't used to a Playstation controller
Other than that, sometimes the graphics would bug during cutscenes and the game looked like Xbox circa 2006, which just honestly made it better
So yeah 4/5
Would have liked more out of the campaign ending.
Definitely has that Gears vibe
