The way I see it, some want music while training, some don't, it's a matter of choice. It doesn't necessarily mean things are or aren't commercial. But, FYI, The USSR wasn't capitalistic, and much of the current world is, including the pieces that once were parts of The USSR.
I was the weakest kid in the whole school for years, and when I started really doing something about it, music helped me get more confident while exercising:)
